    I bought this when BCSG had in his channel. If you wanna recommend a cheap BFS rod option the Kuying Teton light and ultra light rods match up nice. Only cost between 54 and 65 dollars. Love your channel just bought the Scorpion BFS.

    there are Piscifun SAEX premier which also come with shallow spoon in aliexpress. It has aluminum main frame and from what I've asked seller, it also does have both end supported pinion gear, with bearing supported on tension knob side. price is $60.

      that reel is also on amazon,and ships from the US! only thing is,if you buy it off amazon,It doesn't come with the shallow spool. You can order the spool it off aliexpress,or piscifun's website,which does seem to have a location somewhere in the US. The piscifun shallow spool is 11g.

    So pretty similar results to what Bryan (BCSG) gathered. I have one in my shopping card on the chinese market app atm with some softlures and the typical cheap little jerkbaits which work surprisingly good too.
    In terms of rods - like someone before me already said, the XF 50 pairs pretty well with the Kuying Teton UL/L. Very affordable and has a bit more than semi parabolic action (in my opinion).
    Very nice video as always, nicely structured and honest. Keep it up!

      THE REEL TEST understandable tbh. And you have some sweet UL/Finesse rods anyway so nothing to worry about. For other starters on a budget it's a good option tho.

    Good thorough review ! I've got a suspicion this reel may not have been made in China, or at least not in the same factories as KastKing or Piscifun etc . Reasons : Never seen the aluminum handle knobs yet on any China reel / Not seen a China reel with more than 5 magnets / The mag brake setting dial runs opposite to existing China reels / The mag brake sideplate opens upwards instead of the standard downwards on existing China reels. There may be other differences on the inside machinery as well ?

    I have one of these reels paired with kuying teton ul and in my opinion it can cast down to 2.8 grams. However due to large main gear I also can put it on hewier rod spool with hevier line and use with lures up to 3/4 oz no problem. It not without problems: build is quite cheap and as far as I know there are somme problems with reel to reel consistency but it is 50 usd reel.

    What length and action would you recommend for a finesse setup? I was thinking light (or possibly ultra light) but most of the rods I see for that are less than 6 ft. I've only seen 1 (in my limited searching) that was 7' and it was a medium light. I'm sure finesse is different, but the shortest rod I like to use for my other setups is 6'6" so I'm curious to see what you'd recommend. Thanks.

      THE REEL TEST try to target stocked trout in my area while having fun. They’re usually 1/2lb - 1.5lbs. But occasionally there are 5-10lb monsters. They have been hitting my 1/8 in-line spinners. Would be nice to throw at least 1/16th since my Metanium mgl throws a 1/8 like a dream. And I’m planning to use it for bass too.

      I did watch his vid; thanks. That rod sure looks like a noodle. I'm guessing as this whole BFS/ultralight baitcasting thing catches on more here, we'll see more information on suitable rods being shared. I hate to buy a rod I know almost nothing about. I'll do it for $70, but I'll hold out for multiple reviews before I spend more on a nice one! I enjoy your videos; keep up the good work!

    • @faizrasid713

      Most bfs use shallow spool if I'm not mistaken.

    • @weekendfisherman8072
      @weekendfisherman8072 5 років тому

      faiz rasid - I am not familiar with this but what is the purpose of using a shallow spool? Is it just for trouts fishing with like 2lb-4lb lines?

    • @faizrasid713
      @faizrasid713 5 років тому

      @@weekendfisherman8072 correct me if I'm wrong. I believe in bfs. You don't aim for that big fish. If you manage to land one then its a bonus. Since bfs more towards the UltraLight rod. That's why lower poundage line is enough. Hence here comes the main purpose of shallow spool. Shallow spool means wider spool but shallower. Hence when you cast light bait with light line it's easier to cast.

    • @weekendfisherman8072
      @weekendfisherman8072 5 років тому

      faiz rasid - Thanks for the info, light bait is my take away from this along with ultra light gear

      @@weekendfisherman8072 welcome bro. If your onto UltraLight spinning reel also. Can search in Facebook UltraLight angler.. Malaysian group. There you'll see that not all small lures for small fish 🤣. Its more challenging when you see the rod bend and your drag screaming.

    bsf = ? what does it stand for

    • @THEREELTEST
      @THEREELTEST  6 років тому +1

      if you mean BFS it stands for Bait Finesse System, basically using a baitcaster for light finesse lures

  • @bassnazi4713
    @bassnazi4713 6 років тому +1

    Man, talk about a wiffled spool to minimize weight. Lol more holes than metal, might as well have a type of mesh wire netting with supports in the middle. No wonder it performs well.

    • @DbaldetToShuffle
      @DbaldetToShuffle 6 років тому +2

      Well that's pretty normal for a BFS spool. If you take a look at some of the big brand reels they'll look just about the same. So ye, probably weird for someone who isn't used to it.

    • @bassnazi4713
      @bassnazi4713 6 років тому +1

      I know, have some that I never really use much just because they are almost too limited, was just talking about it joking around for a way to make a cheaper reel even lighter.

      Hunter Flannigan all good, just know it's a lot of people that have to fish from the bank and all the pro's usually make it sound like ya gotta have 50 different set ups. A high percentage of people that can't afford a ton can really become even better fisherman if they have a good, durable reel that holds a decent bit and a nice medium to medium-heavy rod and learn first using it for more all purpose then move into the more specialised gear. We all gotta remember used to even the pro's were using the big heavy round baitcasters, and still some records around from those days in places set well before Lew's designed that first commercially successful low-pro. Long story short, to many that are new to the sport hear that to catch fish you "have to have this", when sometimes a huge bass will still hit a earthworm. It's what makes the sport great lol. Good luck out there.
