Always enjoy your reviews. Being a baker I can tell you the splatter gaurd is made for a stand mixer with only one mixing attachment such as a paddle, wise or dough hook.
And this is a good one as well, I pictured it either with a deep bowl with my hand blender (I had mentioned pudding in a previous comment) or with my KitchenAid when starting to mix up doughs.

What? Have you ever used a stand mixer at all? There is no way that thing would work with a stand mixer. The range of motion of the shaft is way wider than that hole on the guard. It would be grabbing the shield and throwing it all over the place and into the stand of the mixer.
Amazing. Maybe James and Timothy should take a good look at a stand mixer some day, they might learn something. Of course they might decide to pick a fight with it instead. I always have to do this to get any suction cups to grab the surface. For the mixing bowl cover, this would be absolutely perfect for a stand mixer. I am sorry, somehow my original reply got messed up. I think the apple peeler is awesome. I will be buying one. If one is using the mixer cover with a hand held mixer they should turn the cover upside down. This would take the grooves out of play and allow the cover to lay flat and move with the mixer so you could more the whole bowl. It might be a little awkward but a least you wouldn't be hindered by the grooves. I think a better test would be mixing a more wet product like flour and water. I never use a mixer for dry stuff. I am also not so sure the immersion mixer should be part of this test. It is something I would never use for a dry mix and when I use mine for a wet product, it is buried deep in the button of a pot and there is no splatter.
If I recall he made the exact same mistake with with the apple peeler and slicer combo. For any suction cup to work you have to wipe both the suction cup and the surface to make sure there's absolutely no dust or particles. Making the cloth damp also creates a stronger vacuum but you have to be careful not to use too much or it will just slide all over and probably find a spot where it easily disconnects.
"...a cross between a nail salon and Edward Scissorhands"🤣🤣 "..it's not like it was demoted to a non finger." 🤣🤣 I love your reviews; you are so relatable!
When I use my whisk with sticky stuff, I just use a spoon or knife to get the excess off. Banging it will splatter contents making a mess. Moisten the suction cups and they will stick better.
The Pluto/Pinky joke. Priceless. I saw another comment about the splatter guard - when you first showed it, it looked like it was designed for one of those kitchen-aid stand mixers. It was definitely garbage for hand mixers. Beyond that....keep up the good work. Love this channel for some inexplicable reason.
Those finger guards had me laughing because you only get four. I actually lost my pinkie in an accident and your speech referring to Pluto had me in stitches, lol. Im sold.
I love your kitchen gadget reviews. Got the onion chopperator after showing to my sister. She got me for Christmas present. The apple peeler is amazing!
The Whisk Wiper is the best gift, really. I asked for and got the one for Kitchen Aid Mixer Whisks and boy does it work. I use the paddle attachment most often but when I am mixing egg whites, making pudding, etc. I use my whisk and so much stays on the whisk. This cleans 99% of it off! Amazon reviews were hit and miss which really confuses me. This thing works and I highly recommend it. FYI, It's not difficult to clean. Put your water on high, switch to the sprayer and the stream will clean out all the crevices. Easy peasy every time.
That apple peeler shows what was old is new again. We had a similar one when I was a kid in the early 1960's. That one worked just as well. I have to say watching you use it brought back memories.
The big problem with those finger guards is that it only exists to reinforce bad / dangerous technique. The way you're meant to cut things has you placing your fingertips behind your middle digits which means you're never at risk of cutting your fingertips to begin with.
I Just do as my grandmother used to do, either use your fingers or tap it on the edge of the bowl until you get enough off. And then give it to the kids to clean it
The splatter guard perfect test review - kitchenaid stand mixer, whisk attachment, and a carton of heaving whipping cream. If you can make butter without making a mess, then it’s an amazing product. Might also try it with a sunbeam stand mixer that spins the bowl rather than the beater, to see how well it stays in place.
My whisk cleaner happens to be free (I call it my tongue) I love my apple-peeler-corer-slicer. Works as fast as your peeler but does all the prep, not just one step. Looks like someone repurposed banjo picks to reduce risk of cutting fingers. The bands are adjustable which is why they are split. You just need to pry them apart to get over your manly knuckles.
I was gifted the whisk wiper and whisk set from Pampered Chef a few years ago for my birthday or something. Anyway, I don't use the wiper much, but it does work very well with the whisks from the set.
When making very thin slices, the finger tip is normally folded under and the side of the knife is braced against the first row of knuckles, giving very fine control by slightly moving the entire hand after each cut. Wonder how those guards would work for doing that.
We use the finger guards or something similar to strum our autoharps. They protect our fingers well. The mixer bowl cover: I think it would work much better with a stand mixer, like a Kitchenaid.
If you find suction cups not working, rub the bottom with water. That helps force the air out. Also the point of the finger guards is that the when chopping, the knife is supposed to rest against your fingers when chopping.
I think it would be awesome if after each review of a gadget that doesn't work well you give some ideas of how they can fix it to be better. Love your vids!
My sister got us a silicone splatter guard years ago. I tried to use it for a big batch of something in the stand mixer, but the rotating whisk hit it . It was really only used to kind of keep it protected from the cat
I know you are testing the whisk wiper to see the amount of food that remains on the whisk but just to let you know, you did not whisk once. You stirred with a whisk. My guess is - barring the use of an egg-in-shell mixer, you eat many stirred eggs that have white and yellow parts.
I love to check your videos before I buy. Thank you. A couple observations. Those finger guards look adjustable. Try spreading them a little to fit your fingers. If you manage to cut your pinky, you don't need guards, you need to stop cutting things! Lastly, I use a silicone spatula to clean my whisk and it works much better. I don't bend my whisk, either. LOL
For cutting just learn the finger curl in technique, it's one of the easiest knife skills to learn (saying from experience, I'm a beginner at best) and works pretty well since the knife is resting against your knuckles which are in front of your fingertips making it almost impossible to hit your fingers with the sharp end. Or if you're really concerned about it I would guess one of those cut resistant gloves would be a better bet.
The mixer splatter guard is easily achieved using a paper plate. Been doing this for decades. Clean your whisk off with your fingers. The apple peeler is the only one I’d consider.
The splatter guard is for a stand mixer, not a hand mixer. I can tell you I'll be picking one up immediately. Also, the apple peeler was actually invented in the early 1800's. I saw one on an antique channel I watch. I bought mine from Pampered Chef in the 90's. It works just like that one, except it's heavier. So cool!
Wisk wiper is a cool idea, but I saw a spatula with one half of the spatula having slots cut for it to work the same way but not having to do the entire wisk at once. I feel like that would be easier to handle, less messy and more functional since you could also use it as a regular spatula at the same time.
Regarding the apple peeler, if you wipe the inside of a suction cup with a damp cloth, the slight moisture helps the cup to adhere to a clean, dry, smooth surface.
The mixer splatter guard is ideal for a stand mixer… which has a deep bowl and a mixing attachment that if fixed in the center of the bowl. I have a similar item (that came with my stand mixer) and it works quite well to contain any mess the mixer would otherwise kick up.
You could try wetting the suction cups on the apple peeler. I find I can't get them to grip without moisture. You might also try a spray of cooking oil on the whisk - would at least make it easier to get the whisk wiper on.
Whisk Wiper cost $10 does EVERYTHING beginning with reconfiguring ( Bending) the whisk, then it cleans the whisk almost as well as tapping it on the bowl..., allows you to wash it + another utensil (of your choice)(to scrape the food back into the bowl), and designed to capture extra food in tough to reach places! Place your order now!!!
For that mixer splash guard I believe that is for a countertop stand mixer like the kind you make bread, One that comes with a dough hook and such, rather than the handheld one that you use in the video.
I have a metal apple peeler that cores and spiral cuts the apple while it peels. The unit has a screw-tightened clamp so it stays steady on a table or counter. I used to bake apple pies for the farmers' market so this tool was a big help.
With the splatter guard, I think if you just held the bowl somehow and let the cover "float", you'd get better range of motion with your mixer. Never used one so I don't know for sure, but that's the impression I got.
I owned the "Whisk Wiper." It was decent for a while but degraded over time. The part where the whisk connects to the handle came "unglued" and the wiper part dried out and cracked.
I have a similar apple peeler (Starfrit) that works so well, I replaced it when I accidentally broke mine. The one you reviewed seems slightly better as it doesn't jump over/get stuck on bruises. Mine doesn't peel potatoes or pears (never tried oranges), but its great when making 2-3 apple pies.
I went to the website to see if I could find some information about the blades but there’s no way to contact these people I think it’s only Instagram so that puts me off
*the whisk wiper? SO ridiculous. it was in my stocking. it's already in the trash... the tines bent easily & the cleaning of the gadget was much more difficult when doing something like whipping large amounts of cream or frosting... you went a little easy on it with tiny amounts. trust me.. a couple taps on the side of the bowl works just as well. no stupid gadget needed. the anti-splatter guard cover is best intended for stand mixers... i have another brand which is identical and I LOVE IT! that thing works... when used as intended! I am impressed with that apple peeler... wonder how it would hold up over time... would be great for potatoes & other fruits/vegs too... i'd buy that. anyway another good review for some weird products.*
The splatter guard is designed to be used with a stand mixer. As for the whisk, just shake off any excess then use a small silicon spatula to scrape off the rest.
When you put the wiper on the whisk for the pink frosting and bent the wire that is because you were putting it on backwards. The soft side of the wiper, the side with the grooves that you said you were having trouble cleaning, that is the side that the wires go through i. e. facing the handle. The stiffer side is used for scraping the bowl. An 11" whisk with a wiper for under $10 is a fair price and it is a good product that works great when the wiper is put on the right way. I think you make a fine show and this product deserves a do-over. (Edit for misspelling.)
As a American who’s been to OZ four times…10 points for a Gold Coast shirt….-2points for it being a Hard Rock T-shirt when their are lots of other fantastic Aussie restaurants and bars. Great video
That apple peeler was just a gadgety contraption. It only did one thing... Barely. However I bought one off Amazon several months ago that includes a de-corer and a Apple slicer task as well. So it's a three-in-one and it is so much better. And it was only like $23. It is the Apple Peeler and Corer by Cucina Pro - Long Lasting Chrome Cast Iron with Countertop Suction Cup.
I have the cast iron one too. Did your suction cup stop working? That's the only thing that happened with mine is I can't get it to stay still on the counter anymore.🙁
I would've like to see comparing the whisk wiper to just the normal "bang the whisk on the side of the bowl" method with your whiskees.
Whiskees?
I wouldn't use that thing. I'd forget to grab it before I start anyway and also when I'm done using my whisk I just swizzle it around in dish water anyway. Comes clean every time. 👍
I was thinking the same thing
But the best thing of wisking frosting, is licking the wisk!!
I use my rubber spatula to squeegee the whisk, and scrape the bowl. I don’t see a need for the “whisk wiper”, but I feel like having some frosting…
As others have said, the splatter guard is for a stand mixer.
The finger guards are just finger picks for playing banjo
They remind me of acrylic fingernails.

For any suction cup to work you have to wipe both the suction cup and the surface to make sure there's absolutely no dust or particles. Making the cloth damp also creates a stronger vacuum but you have to be careful not to use too much or it will just slide all over and probably find a spot where it easily disconnects.
@@BriBCG True, you do have to have just the right amount of dampness for suction cups to work properly.
Thanks for all the reviews, your reviews are always not bias and equally great.
*biased
The wisk wiper is an interesting concept, If I was using it I would put the wisk wiper on the wisk from the handle side to avoid bending the wisk.
It didn't appear to have a hole large enough for that (see thumbnail) and he said the material was rigid.
I came to see if anyone else suggested this
Those finger guards would be great as a back scratcher 😊👍
That splatter guard looks like the one that came with my stand mixer. The beater stays in the center, so the small hole is adequate.
Those finger guards look like Freddy Krugers training wheels before he graduated to the finger blades....great video as always James!
Always a good day when freakin reviews uploads!!
Love his reviews.
Except the guards stop that worry...
Now, if they made an orange peeler like the apple one, I'd buy that in a heartbeat.
Love your reviews James. When u bent your whisk, that was scarey.
Take care sir, stay safe n well.
Hi, James!! I can't believe I'm so early! I always come to you for reviews on products I am considering and your videos help so much!!
Heh yeah you are pretty early! Thank you for stopping by!!
Hey James! Thanks for another great review. Thank you for helping us avoid scam’s.
I Just do as my grandmother used to do, either use your fingers or tap it on the edge of the bowl until you get enough off. And then give it to the kids to clean it
The Whisk Wiper seems like a good idea. But giving the whisk a wee whack on the side of a bowl seems easier.
Could you put the handle in first for the whisk wiper? If so feed the handle through after you use the whisk only if needed
My whisk cleaner happens to be free (I call it my tongue)
I love my apple-peeler-corer-slicer. Works as fast as your peeler but does all the prep, not just one step.
Looks like someone repurposed banjo picks to reduce risk of cutting fingers. The bands are adjustable which is why they are split. You just need to pry them apart to get over your manly knuckles.
Thank you for another great video. Honestly, I would never buy any of that crap, but I find you and your videos entertaining. Keep up the good work.
Love your honest presentations 🙏🏽🤩
I was going to say the exact same thing about the finger guards. Just turn the guards around and they'd look a lot like what I use for my autoharp.
I love the idea of the whisk wiper. I rarely use whisks because of the trouble of getting the stuff off it.
OMG, the Pluto/finger demotion remark made me 🤣🤣🤣
If you find suction cups not working, rub the bottom with water.
LOL
Maybe the guy who invented the finger guards had already accidentally cut his pinkie finger off?
The grooves on the splatter cover make it possible to move the mixer around the bowl. You don't need to stay in the middle all the time 😉
For cutting just learn the finger curl in technique, it's one of the easiest knife skills to learn (saying from experience, I'm a beginner at best) and works pretty well since the knife is resting against your knuckles which are in front of your fingertips making it almost impossible to hit your fingers with the sharp end. Or if you're really concerned about it I would guess one of those cut resistant gloves would be a better bet.
Just what I need. More gadgets that never get used and clog up my kitchen drawers.
Thanks, James, you always show me something that I didn't realize will make my life better! 💜
I like your modular kitchen renovation
The mixer splatter guard is easily achieved using a paper plate. Been doing this for decades.
Clean your whisk off with your fingers.
The apple peeler is the only one I’d consider.
Isn't the mixing bowl protector meant for a stand mixer? at stand mixer uses a deeper bowl and the whisks don't move around, they stay in place. :P
Thank you for sharing this with me 😊
The splatter guard is for a stand mixer, not a hand mixer.
Your comments during your review of the finger guards is really funny, “They're so interesting!” It's why I imagine some women get the longer nails.
Excess frosting gets licked, not thrown down the drain.
I feel we would be great friends, Gail. I love the way you think.
The mixer splatter guard is ideal for a stand mixer… which has a deep bowl and a mixing attachment that if fixed in the center of the bowl. I have a similar item (that came with my stand mixer) and it works quite well to contain any mess the mixer would otherwise kick up.
Great video! Please review some knife sharpeners. Watching you use that dull knife while testing the finger guard was a bit scary.
Agreed. He was having to apply way too much pressure to get through those veggies.
You could try wetting the suction cups on the apple peeler. I find I can't get them to grip without moisture. You might also try a spray of cooking oil on the whisk - would at least make it easier to get the whisk wiper on.
The finger guards look like guitar finger picks, I’m pretty sure they got the inspiration from there
Whisk you! Have mother whisker! You’ve gotta be whisking me 🤣😂
That type of splatter guard is meant to be used with a stand mixer. Thanks for showing what it does with a hand mixer though. Great video!
That apple peeler is awesome, but it looks a lot like the older 3-1 tool, so I would love to see you compare the two.
Don’t have room for any of these items. Thank you. Great review.
Who needs a w hi whisk wipper ? It takes all the fun out of licking off the cake mix or whatever you are mixing!!😂
Great video as always
For that mixer splash guard I believe that is for a countertop stand mixer like the kind you make bread, One that comes with a dough hook and such, rather than the handheld one that you use in the video.
I have a metal apple peeler that cores and spiral cuts the apple while it peels. The unit has a screw-tightened clamp so it stays steady on a table or counter. I used to bake apple pies for the farmers' market so this tool was a big help.
Part of me really wants to attach a drill to the apple peeler and go to town. 🤣
"That's not the magic we're looking for."
With the splatter guard, I think if you just held the bowl somehow and let the cover "float", you'd get better range of motion with your mixer. Never used one so I don't know for sure, but that's the impression I got.
Love this channel 🤗
I owned the "Whisk Wiper." It was decent for a while but degraded over time.
The part where the whisk connects to the handle came "unglued" and the wiper part dried out and cracked.
The apple peeler is one bad hombre!!! Nice job on the review :)
That mixer guard is useful for stand mixers btw idk how annoying it'd be for a hand mixer lmao.
I wonder if the anti splatter guard would work for a stand mixer? Or maybe it is too big even for that.
I think the splatter cover is for use on a stand mixer, like the Kitchen Aid, where you have a narrow, deeper bowl and the bowl moves under the mixer.
As a American who’s been to OZ four times…10 points for a Gold Coast shirt….-2points for it being a Hard Rock T-shirt when their are lots of other fantastic Aussie restaurants and bars. Great video
"...like Pluto, demoted to a non-finger..." ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😂
