He’s like someone took a colouring page of a Golden Retriever but coloured it in as a Bernese Mountain Dog.
That could be a very good thing. Hopefully he will have a long and healthy Golden Retriever life with a great Bernese Mountain Dog attitude.
Well, she said, Bernese mix, he might also have some Retriever on him. The face is kinda more Retriever than Bernese.
Had the same thought!
@@Nikki-tx6kh i got my self BMD.
Male can go from 35kg up to 72kg so this can be 100% BMD but in vid can be smal one. In my street There BMD with pedigree but just 37kg.
My BMD 54kg
I was thinking the same thing! His face and cute little jowls made me think of Tucker Budzyn.
Such a precious nervous boy with the most expressive face 😍 at the end he looks so haughty and proud, he’s above grooming now
Of course he's proud - he endured the water torture, faced down the shrieking fire snake, and saved his paws from the mecha-bug! He's a big floofy hero!
I read that as "expensive face" the first time and was rather confused.
That curled lip at the end after the whole process had me dying lol
That sweet confused look all dogs seem to have when they wear the happy hoodie never fails to make me laugh. 😂
Still my fav part of these vide - dog and cat both. :D
Except for Kuma. Kuma just wants Vanessa to hurry up and get his beloved dryer going
There is a definite touch of embarrassment in there too. Like when they wear the cone.
I know!! 🤣🤣🤣
@@zeus6793Pfffft! Yes! 😂
As a delivery driver, this is one of the friendliest breeds ive encountered...always sweet, and never aggressive
Exactly my experience, too! 👍
I have the same experience. The closest they get to aggression is their exceptional ability to lean their weight in gold into your leg when getting ear rubs.
Berners are angels on 4 legs. 🐾🐾💖
I believe thats mostly socialisation. I have seen these dogs working as herd dogs - and then they can take their job quite serious.
@@doyouwanttogivemelekiss3097 Our Bernese Astra cosidere whole village her responsibility. She protected all the cats from other village dogs, and once she woke me up in the midle of the night 'cause the strorm was comming. She want me to open the house door to let in our 3 cats who was left outside.
Oh, I love how he looked for your reaction when he had his little freak out over the dryer, then saw your face and heard your voice and he settled down a bit. What a good boy.
I’m his mom! He is a biiig baby and lives for validation 🥺❤️ He does this anytime he’s unsure of something. Just looks at me for reassurance and then finds the courage
@@kaitlynsimpson3767 He is so lovely.
@@kaitlynsimpson3767 that’s so sweet omg 🥺🩷
I had the most wonderful Bernese mountain dog on my mail route. He started having medical problems that didn't get better. He ended up being put to sleep. I cried like a baby when I found out. He was a wonderful loving dog. You'll never be forgotten Mr. Vinny😊
You are a caring person.
Yo shout-out to Mr. Vinny 🙌
They are pretty prone to cancer unfortunately
I adore BMDs and I spoke to an owner who said they're called Heartbreak dogs as they're just so adorable but can sometimes only live 6-8 years old ☹️
@@chrisc475my parents have a berner who's 4 right now and he's quite large even for the breed, but sadly he's already starting to show signs of arthritis. He's such a gentle soul and I feel so sad to think his age is already creeping in 😭
What an angel. The other day I was fortunate enough to pet a very soft, very friendly Bernese named Tiramisu and not to oversell it but it made my year.
Well damn, lady. You're comment wins.
Tiramisu is such a great name for a Bernese Mountain Dog because of their coloring and sweet personality!
Tiramisu is actually an amazing name 😂
My therapist had a Bernese puppy. He really helped with my anxiety the first couple of times. His name is Mateo and he made me laugh for the first time in a long time when he got on the couch, than panicked because he realised he could not get off by himself.
“… extremely thrilled to be here.” 😢 Emmet was very nervous, but his behaviour was impeccable. Gorgeous dog.
Emmett’s mom here! Thank you for this kind comment❤️
@@kaitlynsimpson3767 he's such a cutie and he did good while being groomed. what a fluffy good boy.
@@kaitlynsimpson3767 You must enjoy giving him lotsa bear hugs!
Emmett serenading us with the song of his people while being groomed was a bonus😃❤️
He was looking right into her eyes like ‘why’ ‘why are you doing this to me’ 😂. My berner would look at me like that too whenever I had to cut his claws etc. like he knew he was cute enough to sway people.
We need a sound track
The lip stuck on the front tooth... heart melting!
Such expressive eyes he has. Told you everything he was thinking 😂
Emmett:"It's not that I'm nervous. It's just that the food to shampoo ratio is lacking. Going to speak to management about this..."🤔
If you make a coffee table book of your clients in their happy hoodies, I would buy it IMMEDIATELY
I rescued a Bernese mountain and Border Collie mix from the humane society. He was so smart and loving. I miss you so much Marx! 🙏❤️🙏❤️
For a year I got to babysit a Bernese/Rottweiler mix. She was the best…..until rain or a thunderstorm. A dog that size laying on your face due to fear of the storm was something else 😂
My grandfather has always kept at least two Bernese mountain dogs, so I can say growing up with these goofy half bears was a joy and a blessing.
He's got good owners: he's not overfed. I love these dogs, I have never met one that wasn't an absolute angel - but have rarely met one that was not obese.
So beautiful. Thank you for sharing. I lost my two Goldens last year 14 and 13 yrs. I’m told these pups don’t live more than 7 years or so. I could not fathom to loose this baby so soon.
I had one of my frequent Bernese clients in my grooming shop yesterday, such a big dog and such a big baby! 😂 no matter how many times his groomed, the first half an hour is always “omg so scary I’m gonna CRY”
I have a Bernese dog. Sakura is unique! Crazy at times. Never agressive or violent. Doesn’t like water. She never stops eating. She is more human than most humans.
You have a dog called 'Cherry blossom'? How quaint.
Our first Berner would walk around water puddles.
@@ftmhome , exactly what Sakura does!
Dogs are some of the noblest creatures on earth. My lab passed away yesterday ( 4/24) after battling cancer. My springer spaniel, my wife, and I are devastated. But I know that ol soul will be waiting for me.
This is indeed such a kind wonderful breed. When I was struggling with my mental health and stayed in a hospital for a bit, they had two Bernese Mountain dogs as therapy dogs. They were such sweet fluff balls.
Emmett has some of the most sweetest eyes 🥹
I'm far from a dog person but there's a Bernese Mountain Dog in my neighborhood that I just have to stop and pet every time he's in their yard. Almost makes me want to get one.
When he looked up at Vanessa it made me smile. What a beautiful dog. I love the way he looked straight at Vanessa when she was talking to him while wearing the pink bee hat.
Oh I love the name Emmett and the Bernese Mountain Dogs - so beautiful. It was so sweet watching you put your hand on his head while he was getting dried.
I can say I was partially raised by a Bernese Mountain dog. 😂 He was the sweetest and gentlest of giants. He would be happy to lay down next to me while I read a book in the woods behind my parent's house. He would even serve as impromptu pillow... and was the most patient and chill dog I could wish for as a small boy back then.
Unfortunately, my parents got divorced and I was separated from my friend and my father then went on to abuse him. Still feel guilty nowadays even If I know that there wasn't much I could do as a kid. In the country we used to live, animal welfare was not a priority. As my way to redeem myself, I'm trying to fight my anxiety and PTSD and go to the local kennel to go for a stroll with the local doggos. Unfortunately my current home doesn't allow pets of any kind so I can't adopt. Soon...
I’m so sorry about losing your friend and him being abused. You have nothing to feel guilty about. But definitely helping dogs out at the shelter would benefit you. I used to walk the shelter dogs and it was a great experience. I couldn’t adopt at the time.
@@littlecatfeet9064 Thank you for your kind words! Hope you're having a great weekend!
Hope you get better in every way .. and finally get your puppy!!!
@@nellydelgado5173 Thanks!
We had a Greater Swiss Mountain dog ( just like the Bernese but with short hair ) and I can confirm, she was the sweetest soul I’ve ever known. My heart dog, rip, Emma.❤
"Take drying into his own paws"
That reminds me of what my dog used to do. I would dry him off thoroughly with a big towel but he always went and rubbed himself on everything that was fabric.
When done bathing and drying him i would lay the towel on the floor in the living room and he would go bananas on it, sliding it across the room as he dove into it.
Paws down, Bernese Mountain Dogs are my favorite breed! They are so soft and friendly and I have to restrain myself from running to them to pet them lol. I know I don't have the time, money, and space to raise them, so when I see them in public I can't help myself lol
Pretty chilled bear.
We used to have a Bernese Mountain Dog, and when it rained, we always tried to dry him off a bit to keep the house clean. And he always smushed his face into the towels that exact same way. We always thought it was because he'd have water in his eyes and was irritated by it.
And yeah, a Bernese leaning into you with all his weight can be a surprising amount of force. I don't think I need to tell you that a big, cuddly dog can knock you over by accident if you don't pay attention.
I love Berners. They have such smiley faces.
RIP Bród (the President of Ireland's Bernese Mountain Dog who died last week).
He was a great hit at public events.
I recently had to say goodbye to my 11 year old Berner, Cassie. Its absolutely true. They are the sweetest, most kind hearted dogs. I miss her everyday
Sorry for the loss of your dog. The vids of BRENT ATWATER may be of help. She is an animal communicator/ medium, who usually assists with such "transitions". Her vids helped me a lot when I lost my dog 6 years ago. All best wishes! ❤
The look on his face in that first shot with the happy hoodie on was priceless. SUCH a big boy. Never realised how big they got until I actually saw one in the flesh.
My friend has an adorable BMD, she 's been trained to not jump up to greet you, she barely barks but she does not stop running between your legs looking for head pats or butt scratches. Sweetest thing ever!!
He's a sweetheart and you can see he tried hard to be good, but he was afraid of the blower and the spray, and did not like his front paws touched.
I think that you will be pleasantly surprised by Emmett's "review of the grooming process ".❤
What good timing! The President of Ireland's older Berner died yesterday, at the age of 11. An excellent age for the breed. His name was Bród, which means "Pride" in Irish. He joins Shadow and Síoda ("Silk") and is survived by Misneach ("Courage," "Hopefulness," "Cheer"). All of President Higgins' dogs have been Berners. They've made international memes of themselves by demanding attention during speeches and being very unsure about Biden during his visit. They're almost as big in size and personality as our tiny legend of a president!
Was wondering if anyone was going to mention the presidential berners! Rest in peace Bród.
I was sad to hear Bród died. He had a great life though and was absolutely adored by his family, and the whole of Ireland and beyond❤
I was thinking about Bród's passing too, and i'm not even irish. I'm going to miss him. 🥲
I always loved seeing pictures and videos of the President's dogs hanging out during official functions. Such a good boy!
I saw this video with Biden and Berners one week ago.Sad to hear one of the Berners crossed the rainbow bridge.
BMD are really beautiful dogs such a pity they don’t live long
Is a real tragedy that such beautiful and gentle breed have such short lives compared to other breeds.
Thank you, I find just watching the grooming process to be soothing, I have PTSD and severe depression, so I am considering a Service Dog.
Best wishes to you, Steve. ❤ After my brother-in-law died, nothing could get my sister's 3 young teenaged sons (and her) out of depression, until they got a labradoodle puppy. Then, despite the intense grief, there was also joy, and smiles, and unconditional LOVE, freely given by that lovely canine soul.
A dog will certainly help - the exercise from the daily walks and playtime will help lift your mood, the absolute love and joy and acceptance they give, and the love and care that YOU give to THEM - your heart and psyche will heal... Again, best wishes, Steve! ❤
That face at the end says it all 😅
I wish I could have a BMD. They are easily my favorite breed. I'm personally torn about the ethics of having a dog that is so short-lived with such regular, serious health problems though. I would never presume to say definitively that no one should have one, it's just a personal dilemma. It's along the same lines as people who breed dogs that are genetically likely to have trouble breathing. This good boy, and BMD's in general, are such beautiful dogs and wonderful companions.
Emmet is *mostly* BMD. "Purebreds" are often so inbred that they suffer. Our Beagle was a bit American Foxhound and she was healthy for 20+ years. Her bit of AF made her extra pretty! People would literally pull their cars over and ask about her. They'd all say, "That's the prettiest Beagle I've ever seen!"
I grew up with these dogs and none lived older than 8, sadly. They are great companions but indeed really fragile. 😢
@@rridderbusch518 Wonderful! Thank you for letting me know, it makes me feel better :) I love BMDs, Emmet is gorgeous, and I wish only the best health/life on such a lovely dog.
@@ColinGrym You're a good person :-)
That's why mixes are a thing. They're not always accidents at the holidays, but intentionally diversifying the gene pool. I always found the Goldshaw farm 'episode' funny where he finally got the DNA results for Abby and compared them to Toby (livestock guardian dogs, maremmas). Spoilers: He had to give up on the idea of breeding them because despite Toby being from the Midwest and Abby being a Cali girl... they're cousins.
I remember my friend's Bernese mountain dog who was terrified of our miniature schnauzers.
what a beautiful canine.
We miss our Berner boy every single day. He was the absolute best dog we ever had❤️💔
The canine love of my life was a Bernese named Lux. She was brought to the local shelter after being rescued from a backyard breeder. Despite having suffered from neglect and over-breeding, she was the sweetest, most loving, and most gorgeous fluffball in the world. She suffered from a lot of health problems and cost us a lot in vet bills but she was 100% worth it. Best dogs in the world in my opinion. Emmett is so handsome, and what a stunning groom!
Oh he is gorgeous. Bernese Mountain Dogs are my favourite breeds. So beautiful and majestic.
Bernese are the best breed. Not a mean bone in their body and they love everyone. Thunder is still my favorite dog that's ever been on this channel.
Oh, the soulful look on that dog's face....so sweet.
I shared an elevator with a bernedoodle the other day. Gorgeous dog.
They look so much like a Portuguese Water Dog that I’m wrong on my guess 50% of the time. There are several in mg neighborhood and I love them. 😊
My husband’s service dog is a Bernese! Maisey is the sweetest dog I’ve ever met. Berners are just big balls of love.
Bernese are one of my FAVORITE breeds. Emmett is a star in the making!!
At 1:28 dog is like ... Okay let's see what follows 😂😂😂😂
Oh my gosh, this sweet floofy baby has my whole heart now 🥺
Missed the sight of him playing in your backyard..
We had a Bernese mountain dog named Ivy for 12 years. She was a wonderful dog. Did not enjoy baths, grooming, or the vet. But she did love the couch
What a precious fluffball. The back and forth of "scary! I hate this!" and "oh wait actually it's not so bad" was so funny
WHAT A GOOD BOY! He's gorgeous, and he seemed to do quite well, considering his age and experience. GREAT job!
Had a Bernese mix for ten years. The nicest big guy you could hope to share your life with.
He's such a sweet dog.
His facial expressions and gentle protests make him so endearing. What a precious boy! ❤😊
I love the lip curl at the end 😂. Beautiful animal ❤
YES! Bernese Mountain Dogs are the sweetest dogs! They are VERY good with other animals and children.
When we took our cat to the vet the last time, someone was there with their Berner, who kept standing on her hind legs to get hugs from her owner because she was nervous. ❤
Yep, I have to agree about the Berners, unfortunately I had to let mine go a couple of months ago and he would've been 11 next week if he survived.
Miss him so much... In the latter half of his life he was used as a Therapy dog (in the first half he was a crazy dog) for children, elderly and other dogs and was only really trained at the age of 5 and in the end he excelled in obedience.
Older dogs can learn new tricks, might take some time, but they absolutely can...
Condolences on the loss of your dog. 💔 If you are grieving heavily, and have an open mind, the vids of BRENT ATWATER might be of help. She is an animal communicator/ medium, and usually assists with "transitions".
Brent's vids helped me a LOT, when I had to say goodbye to my chow-chow mix, the love of my life (6 years ago. Still miss him every day.). Sincere best wishes! ❤
I never got over the death of my Leonberger, even when I got another dog. Sorry for your loss. I'm sure you gave her the best life possible.
I love Bernese so much. They’re beautiful souls and truly angels. It’s a huge shame that they have such short lifespans.
My neighbor is obsessed with Bernese. She tells me they're not exactly long-lived and my Chi has outlasted a couple. She keeps a memorial to all of them in her yard.
I once saw a dog that had the body of a German shepherd but the coat of a Bernese. It was one of the best looking dogs I've ever come across.
Such wonderful dogs. First met one when some neighbors immigrated from Switzerland and brought their Bernese, Buddy with them. He only spoke Swiss-German and was so adorable.
I’ve been blessed with having had two Bernese nephews. They were both the sweetest boys and definitely were heartbreakers. RIP Teddy and Jack. ❤❤
Yes, Berners know how to steal your heart.🐾🐾💖
We had a bernese who unfortunately passed away a few years ago. He was such a sweet boy. He was a rescue and was by far the loviest dog I've ever had. Hoping one day im able to get another one.
My Carmen is husky, bernese, and cattle dog abandoned by mom at 6 weeks with her brothers and sisters and brought home by me at 8 weeks old and is the happiest, most expressive and talkative dogs i ever have had besides me
One of my favourite things about my old job was that I'd walk past a Bernese out for their morning stroll at the same time every day, I came to know them as "Notorious B.M.D. aka Big Berner" exclusively in my brain until just now. Absolutely gorgeous dogs!
When I worked as a dog walker, Bernese were one of the breeds I feel in love with completely. I walked several of different walks of life they were all so fantastic. Others were Greyhounds, Dobermans, Poodles, Boston Terriers, and Whippets.
How were the Bernese with other dogs? Are they OK with cats?
@@MartinMcAvoy None of the ones I handled had issues with other dogs, two lived with other dogs and one lived with a cat with no issues.
@@osteophagus Thanks for the reply! 😃
Now I’m convinced I want a Bernese mountain dog
10 months old still a pup. He’s huge. I know the breed is well known for being large in both weight and stature but wow.
Love your humorous narrative of this sweet boy❣️
His little face absolutely melts my heart! What a sweet baby ❤️
We had two Bernese mountain dogs when I was a kid. I miss them more than anything else I’ve lost.
I've never owned a Bernese Mountain Dog before, nor have I been around one. So, I'm not completely sure as to what is typical behavior. However, some traits that I'm seeing in Emmett are similar to that of a border collies. His long nose, narrower head, longer build, the white tip on his tail, and the posture he took on at 2:08 when Vanessa brought out the dryer are traits that I have seen in border collies that my family and I have owned and raised over the years.
However, before anyone starts a comment war, I'm well aware that Emmett could be mixed with any number of dogs besides the border collie. I'm just stating the observations I have seen while watching this video.
Besides all of that, Emmett is a gorgeous dog and seemingly well behaved for a 10-month-old dog of his size. Thank you for making videos like this Vanessa. They are enjoyable to watch 🥰☺!
The Bernese Mountain Dog always puts a smile on my face.
They're such a beautiful and sweet breed, what's not to love?
(Btw, Vanessa, have you ever worked on an Irish Wolfhound? I saw a family walking one the other day, and he was taller than their 13 year old son, who was walking him.)
Absolutely, my mom's dream dog is a wolfhound ❤
Your clients are always cute coming in the door, but they are stunning when they leave.
I had a Bernese once, she was loved by all that met her and OH BOY, as a puppy we couldn't go anywhere fast, always being stopped.
I know you work very hard but I’m envious of all the beautiful dogs you get to spend time with! All of their varied personalities are a treat.
I have a Berner and he is absolutely the sweetest calmest goodest boy ever! The bigger the dog the bigger the heart ❤
👍👍!
Berners are just the best.
If only they weren't a heartbreak breed.
Without a doubt, one of the best breeds out there. Loyal, sweet, expressive and will do everything in their power to please who they love. The only drawback to them is that they have about a 50/50 shot of developing cancer and only have a life expectancy of around 8 years old. We had two and lost one to cancer in 2020, when she was 8.
Oh, heart-breaking. I never realized that they were so cancer-prone. 😢 Best wishes for your surviving dog (and you, too)!
Best dog we ever had when i was a kid! Just big and gentle. I miss him everyday and hope that one day i get to have one myself
Just want to say, this is the kind of channel that deserves a lot of viewers. Not somebody just randomly recording their pets, but a professional showing her skills and knowledge.
My friend had two Bernese dogs. They are not all sweet animals. One of them was vicious. Couldn't go near it. It attacked a customer in our store. He had to put it down because it was dangerous. The other one was very sweet. Loved everyone and was very gentle. Just like people, you can't lump them all into one category.
We are the best dogs around. Period. We are as handsome as a Golden Retriever, as brave as a German Shepherd, as disciplined as a Dobermann and as badass as a Rottweiler. We are the combo.
just wanted to leave a quick comment to say how much I love these videos. they're all good boys lol
I’ve never hear of a nervous Berner before!
His paws are HUGE!
I own a Bernese and it’s one of the best breeds. Although a short lifespan they make up for it in love and companionship.
