- Here's my Survival Skyblock playthrough on Minecraft 1.17 Java Edition, where I get BARELY any resources to start. This is similar to SciCraft or ProtoTech (ProtoSky) Skyblock Servers. I shared what I did with each day with the ultimate goal of defeating the Wither and the Ender Dragon.
As I progressed through the 150 days, I show off what technical features I utilize to complete the map. I show them off in a tutorial like fashion but if you want more info, check below for an explanation and map download.

Was this all in survival? Yup!
What version of Minecraft was this? Java 1.17. I used fabric mod loader with no feature changing mods, so basically vanilla
How did you record this? I used Minecraft Replay Mod to record and make the camera paths. For the gameplay clips, I used OBS
This video looks a bit different now? Views had been low so I switched up the title and description on 8/19/22. I like the thumbnail though and don't have photoshop anymore so I'll leave it hehe

Tutorials/Progression
NOTE: I started with dirt/grass, a tree, a lava source block and an end portal frame below. That's it.
Wood: My basic building block from tree farms
Y = 0: Using a trapdoor technique
Mob Drops: I made a low y level WATERLESS mob farm
Iron: Rare drop from the player killing zombies
Water: Made cauldrons, collected rain water (need 3 bottles worth)
Infinite Water: Used bottles from first water source block into a cauldron
Cobblestone: Using my one lava source block, I made a cobblestone generator with my new water... had to be careful to not burn down my completely wood base lol
Gold: Smelting pieces of gold armor down into nuggets
Villagers: 144 smelted pieces of gold armor and 2 apples made into just two golden apples... and a witch to splash the zombie villagers with weakness
Infinite Iron: Used villagers to make an iron golem farm
Emeralds: Mostly traded iron for emeralds
DIAMONDS!?!?!: Nope, no diamonds here... just traded with villagers for the diamond tools/armor
Books: I fished them up, but you could also get sugar cane from a wandering trader and leather from animals
Dripstone: Rare wandering trader trade
Infinite Lava: using the one lava, dripstone, and a cauldron
Nether: Lava from the dripstone and fire spreading to light the portal
Blaze Rods/Wither Skulls: Went to location of a fortress and made a mob farm
Slime: Made a slime farm at a low y level
Infinite Gold: Made a pigman farm using magma blocks I crafted from slime and blaze powder
Beacon: Killed the Wither and got glass from villager trading
Dragon Egg: Slaughtered the Ender Dragon in an epic void end fight
Infinite Dirt: Crafted coarse dirt with gravel from piglin trading and tilled it with a hoe

Hey there, some frequent questions:
How did I get lava? There was one source already in the world, sorry if this wasn't stated clearly but you can see it early on when first bridging down as well 1:24. Same with the end portal, otherwise there are no other materials.
How did you get a netherite axe (1:30)? I filmed this after to showcase the mechanic in a test world. There are some other demos throughout for added footage and explanation as well.

Thank you so much for this. 3 years ago I wanted to play Skyblock but on a map that takes in account all of the new game's mechanics and there just wasn't anything like this. Closest thing was the 2.1 version but even that one had free items in it. Most other Skyblocks just added things to make it easier. I've even considered creating my own version but I didn't know how. Finally I can play on a bare minimum map, on 0,0 coordinate spawn, wit The End included!!! Awesome, it's everything I had hoped for. Thank you and great job on the run and the video as well. You deserve so many views and subs. Here's +1 from me
yk you can make a passive mob farm out of the spawn chunks, convert zombies to drowned (after getting water), kill them for copper, make a lightning rod, breed pigs, convert them to zombie pigman with the lightning rod, and get gold that way? it usually takes like 2-3 thunderstorms for 2 gapples
Yup, that's definitely a cool mechanic. However, made more sense for me to keep grinding iron and gold armor though as I was waiting to get my first water.

Only takes one if you breed like 500 lol, I did that and got 2 stacks of ingots
The Y rates for mob farms no longer matter as of 1.18 except-for the 3d biome mechanic could cause different spawns in different vertical biomes affecting what spawns. It's still good for slime chunks.

hey good video ^^ but where did the lava came from? did u have mods installed? the only way i know is if u have the "Hero of the Village" effect, some villagers drop a bucket of lava xD
So there 1 was floating lava source like 32 blocks below spawn, definitely should have clarified that. It was a starting resource but also not immediately accessible so I left it out of the intro.

I'm curently playing a skyblock map with only 9 blocks dirt and a akatia sapling and nothing else, means no water and lava similar to ilmangos map.
It was so hard just to get water...

Where u got that lava bucket? To get it u need a wandering trader and for that u need villagers for emeralds. No pigs for gold and i doubt u get enough gold from armors

You got me I thought I hid my cheats well but viewers are too smart. On a serious note though since I get this comment a lot, there are some scenes that are made in a test world since I rarely record my first person perspective. It's similar to how at 3:50 I have a netherite sword, but that is more obviously a test world I guess.
alright here me out here. skyblock but its just a hopper with a oak sapling, 2 grass blocks, 12 end portal frames, a lava bucket, and a pointed dripstone in it. with these conditions its still possible to do all the essential things in the game and beat the ender dragon but it just takes a much longer time.
i got a couple skyblock ideas but i have been busy and not too motivated to make a video. cool idea though!

I’m having some problems installing this mod. I’ve made a modpack on curseforge to put your mod in but it just won’t let me and tells me it is an incompatible version. My modpack is 1.18.1 and forge - 39.1.0 which is the same as your mod. I’ve also tried finding the mod, clicking install and then instead of clicking ‘select profile’, I’ll click ‘create a new profile’. When I click this, it makes me name the profile and gives me the option to change the version (of which there is only one it will allow me to pick being 1.18.1) and change the ‘modloader version’ which it gives me all of the options. No matter what ‘modloader version’ I pick, the ‘create’ button to make the profile is greyed out so I can’t actually make it. Do you know what to do?

hey I probably should have made it more clear from the start but there was a single lava source in the world. all the other lava was generated from dripstone
Video idea: make a normal hardcore world but its only nighttime, maybe even without natural healing (ultra hardcore)

Yes, I probably should have made it clearer that there was a single lava source under the island along with the empty end portal.

You could have just used fire resistance to lava down in the nether

idk if you'll see this but how did you know where the fortress was?
So the mod I used to generate the empty map removes all blocks, but leaves biomes and structure boxes in the chunks. So I looked for the fortress in the normal seed and wrote down the coords

@@MrKruchy662 No problem! If you are not on a server using /seed may help as the structure boxes should be same same as whatever version your world was created in. Assuming this is singleplayer, there are also mods such as Minecraft Structures Bounding Box Overlay which allow you to see the boxes (won't work on servers)
@@MrKruchy662 I remember years ago struggling to find the fortress in the skyblock 2.1 map by noobcrew if that's the map you're playing, I think that map was generated before fortresses were in the game. No great solution, but the download link in my description has a mostly empty world if that helps

Thanks for all the kind comments! I don't have a hardcore copy available, but if you download the map and use NBTExplorer you should only have to tweak a value (seems like it's under level.dat -> Data -> hardcore) setting it to 1

How can you initially get a furnace to smelt the initial golden armor? You don't have cobblestone yet
So there's 1 source of lava under spawn (you can see it in the beginning of the video) so I just needed the water to start making cobblestone and furnaces

How did you get the 9 dripstone for those cauldrons, 1 dripstone and a dripstone block to get more dripstone, which all adds up to 14, if the wandering trader you showed only let you buy 10?
I think I used 4 for the block, 1 on the block and 5 for the cauldrons and just left extra space for when more grows

How did you put the seed and leave the world void? Because when I create a new superflat world type void i cant change the seed, so tell me how did you do that pls. Thank you
I used mods to do this, mainly the ProtoSky mod, after finding a good seed with a tool. This is how you keep bounding boxes of structures in the world, and have a void nether/end too.
Feel free to download the world, as its void for a 4000x4000 border. You can use /seed to find locations of structures/biomes in a tool like Amidst
