If you've dreamed of starting a UA-cam channel but haven't got an expensive camera and gear yet, this video's for you. We talk over my top tips for filming quality videos with your iPhone / Android using the app Filmic Pro. The audio is probably the most important part - I'd highly recommend using the Rode VideoMicro to start with, and you can always graduate to an external audio setup (like I have) later on. Thanks for getting me moving Ali! I started uploading videos this month shooting and editing entirely on my iPhone (without lenses or lights) and I've been very pleasantly surprised with the outcome. They're not professional quality but you can go a long way with basically no gear or extra software.

great tips and advice sir. started this cooking channel a month ago and i'm using my phone to shoot my videos. honestly i'm like a child with shooting/filming but i'm happy i am able to learn something every time i shoot videos. you gotta really make the most of what you have at the moment. your arsenal will upgrade along with your process. cheers!

Galaxy s7 edge,
A stack of textbooks = tripod
Mic = £5 sony noise cancelling earphones
Lighting = window or my room light cellotaped to point towards the ceiling

Great step by step guide. I've been trying to use a couple of different smartphones (an old Samsung and a new Samsung) and it's surprisingly good, although Filmic Pro looks like it takes things to the next level. If I can figure out the camera setup on my Android phone I'd be more than happy with the quality of the video even without spending £££ on super fancy cameras.

Tip: EQ your mic audio post production. Makes a WORLD of difference if you just do a simple denoise and EQ (can do more if youre familiar with audio processing)

Hey, Ali. I'd really like to see how you organize your general planner. Most of your videos track and document the progress of known due dates (which I really appreciate!) But how do you compartmentalize tasks that come about thought the day, week, and even semester not including a "to-do" list?

Great video, I’ve recently started using my iPad Pro (new one has studio mic’s built in). Audio quality is arguably better than when I record with my rode mic... just something to think about especially if future iPhones have similar quality mic’s (I’m currently using an older XR) and it’s not as good as my ipad

Firstly, I just wanted to say that I actually love your videos so much! They're so informative but not in a way where they're boring and I've been taking so much advice from your past videos and I'm really glad I did,
Secondly, How do I mirror my phone screen onto a laptop or a monitor, this is something I've had trouble with for a while and so far haven't really found anything helpful.
A few of these kinds of videos popped up in my recommended already but usually, those were filmed on DSLRs & I thought this would be one of those too. The video quality is superb! For a second there, I genuinely thought it was filmed on a DSLR with a none kit lens.
Thank you Ali for your help. I just finished shooting my last video and saw this video. I just bought the app with its remote app so I’ll use my iPad as my director screen.

I thought if I would mirror-flip slides for my smartphone and display them through the DSLR lens in teleprompter, would level up my video quality, especially talking heads than presenting using a phone camera only. great idea.
