What a season this year! Ferrari vs Ferrari is so epic!
People still seem to forget the fact that Sainz started this shit show in Ferrari.
yes Ferrari made mistakes, but the catalyst is Sainz, not pitting and covering Perez is the thing that ruined Leclercs race. What a teammate, so far he fucked up his races but now he is starting to affect his teammate, if i was Leclerc id force Ferrari to make a f decision, either Sainz No.2 driver or he leaves. They don't deserve him.
@@BuuGz86 Sainz would have come out in front of Perez if it wasn't for Latifi. That means it was the better strategy, and Leclerc should have also done it. Sainz overruled Ferrari which meant he actually kept his original position, while Ferrari destroyed Leclerc's race
yeah the limping pony does really well this year, now implement a working team structure and maybe, maybe, maybe LEC will get the title with the team he loves so much. SICK CRIPPLE PONY. Go back into the sandpit and stop bothering they big guys RB and who else??? We Rule the world of Motorsport with our Cowpiss-drink RED BULL forever.

Sergio's dad was literally the first thing that I thought about as Checo crossed the line. Mexico City must have been fireworks
He uploaded a video to tiktok and just seemed staged…🥴 It looks like he is kinda using him for popularity if you look at his other posts. Nobody in Mexico likes the guy, he is a politician that just sucks of the current president cause he is the one that will decide the seat for the candidate for his party for the 2024 presidential elections. (I’m from Mexico btw)

It was anyways
It always is in 'fireworks' in one way or another

Nah, Zhou's save was even more impressive than Sainz's. The car was so sideways, I didn't think F1 could recover from that much of an angle !
Possible only in Monaco because of the unique steering rack used there. Magnificent save.
He must have shit a brick sideways.

Charles in 2019: "However did Seb manage to throw away two titles when Ferrari had the fastest car"
Charles in 2022: "Seb, I understand now"
it wasn't as easy as Seb made it look to win 14 times, considering the red yahoo's in the pits.
Seb didn't have the better car also Ferraris in race moves are bad still from . 2017 to now.

Past rivalries in F1:
Schumacher vs Hakkinen
Alonso vs Vettel
Hamilton vs Verstappen
Ferrari vs Their Drivers...
Past? Ferrari will never learn.
The last one is more past AND present rivalries in F1
@@joostprins3381 Let's see if they learn during the rest of the season, but I keep my expectations the lowest, just to avoid disappointment
I mean Carlos had a good weekend compared to the ones he was having and his strategy call almost worked (he had Perez on the ropes near the end of the race) and I am now more confident then before that he will have his first win before the season's done. But they botched Lecrec's race, badly and in a world title fight you can't do that.
It has been said before. “ the problem with Ferrari is that it has too many Italians in it. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Everyone talking about Sainz’s save but no one talking about Zhou’s save which was arguably trickier
Yess I agree. I would go as much as to say it was better than Carlos's Save :O
@@tharuna.n7946 it was better period
To be fair he's going off of race reactions so if nobody tweeted funny gifs about it he probably wouldn't mention it in this video, but it the 'greatest save we've ever seen' is a bit of hyperbole especially since Zhou had his own save that was even better. On the other hand, Zhou wasn't exactly competing for points when Sainz was definitely second with a chance to win.
Martin actually sai that Zhou's save was better than Carlos'
And that slow motion replay of it on the broadcast looked fantastic.
At least on German Sky F1 the power outage was mentioned. One of the 2 commentators mics died while the outage occured and they did a short stream on Instagram (to get instant user feedback) while the technician tried to fix it. It was chaotic :D
It was also mentioned on UK Sky. Ted Kravitz mentioned it.
also they apparently were pretty much the only one picking up on what might have cause mick to spin out and crash,

15:47 Yes Sainz' save was impressive, but lets not forget Zhou's too, especially since he's a rookie. Brilliant saves all round!
and his radio massage after that is gold 😂
The most nuts thing after this race is realizing the top 3 drivers are withing 15 POINTS!
Could have been 2 without Red Bulls team orders last time out. Yes Max might have won anyway, but it could have been 2 point
@ScarAngusArobieke oh yeah, even as a massive Perez fan I think Max would likely have won but if they were allowed to fight or declared "multi 21" it would be possible for a 2 point gap between 3 drivers and what a story that might be.
Like… what will Christian Horner do if in a race or two, checo is ahead in points? Will RB still favor Max or just go with Perez for the DC?
@@dallinorr6929 I like to think that RB will favour who has stronger pace. They did that in Spain (Max was faster all weekend) and they did that in Monaco (Perez outpaced Max all weekend), so each got preferential strategy and the win. Things are easier when Ferrari keeps shooting themselves in the foot.
@@quintuscrinis8032 Would have been possible, seeing as he is mexican minister of defense.
Here's the thing and something I can't believe no one is talking about... The TV race direction was awful, we never saw what happened to Kmag, we just saw Mick's car cut in half and then a random shot of Kmag out of his car... Ocon's penalty was not for that turn 1 incident but the one lap after that he squeezed Hamilton onto the barriers and bunch more stuff was missed.
Completely agree, this was a nightmare of a broadcast - I wonder what else did we miss
@@Miszkaaaaa We missed a bunch of Vettel overtakes apparently. Not sure. Crofty and Brundle were also not on it yesterday. After Leclerc's first pit stop, he came out behind Perez, which was insane to me. They barely reflected on it.
I didn't even realize Kmag was out till Micks crash
Was just about to comment this. Even F1 TV was bad. They left up the second screen of Schumacher following a Williams for too long. It was clear he wasn't going to overtake. IRC this was when hamilton and ocon were fighting. Then they didn't have the second screen up following Hamilton and Ocon during the pitstop debacle and missed the contact. It's clear they don't know when to use the second screen!
Uh guys????
Do u know this track TV direction is an anomaly? Like it's not the usual F1 tv direction that is done by the local principality. F1 can't change it either.
Every year this is bad recently.
IIRC the stroll meme came from here too
I hope Checo can keep this up and get a win in Mexico, that would be the best story of the year.
He has to win in Mexico
He’ll lead the race until max wants the win.

Same here, but Checo was just the faster car in the race. Still good result for Max though, ahead of Leclerc.
Same man. I rooted for Max to fly past Sainz but he just didn't have the pace, and of course i had to root for Checo instead, it was a good one, the one he needed.
Switch places from last week and he's one point off Max.
As Max fans we Def owed Checo one. Secondly karma was gonna take care of it for Spain. Didn't take long for Karma to sort it out. Congrats to Checo and RB for a good points weekend/double podium.
I cannot believe it as well: Leclerc finally managed to finish Monaco GP
Technically he still didnt finish a full distance Monaco GP

Turns out Ferrari drivers are still better strategists than the actual Ferrari strategists.
Do they even have actual strategists? They seem to do so much better when the driver is telling them what to do vs otherway around.
@@PipeScholar I know it's probably not his engineers fault but that man needs replaced. I love Ferrari as a team and I'm rooting for them right behind McLaren and Haas "E
everyone is a fan of Ferrari" - Seb), but how do you say "PIT PIT PIT *Leclerc is almost there and they have his tires ready* STAY OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"" and then not expect Leclerc to absolutely explode. I normally find it funny when a driver freaks out but this was well founded anger. It completely ruined his race and I think he should stop trusting the strategists because they have screwed him so many times (and I cannot forget about the "if we stay in this position, P1". I think Carlos trusted his gut instinct and his experience that even Ferrari were like "okay, you're all good, we will do what you think." even after the mistakes he's made in other races. I think Leclerc is hesitant to make the calls because he is afraid he will second guess himself but at this point he needs to take it into his own hands when he analyses the situation. Trust yourself Chalres! You're greatness in the making and you won't be hated for making your own calls, you need to take things into your own hands, bud.

Ha likewise.. thought there was a delay because Matt was still in mourning
We all were.
“You are your own worst enemy.”
Ferrari: And I took that personally.
Thanks a lot for the video even on your holiday. "Internet's Best Reactions" has become a post race ritual for me which i really look forward to and my race week is not complete without it. Really appreciate it Matt !
Amen, I’m on holiday at my lake and my wife is glaring at me for not putting in docks. “I’m watching IBR damnit!” I get 20 minutes
I can’t help but notice you forgot to talk about that Checo confirmed that he signed a new contract with Red Bull, he jokingly said “I signed to early” to Cristian Horner in the Post Match walk to the podium. The camera caught the audio too, the Dutch commentators and television were all over it.
Maybe that's because nobody reacted to that on twitter using the #wtf1 hashtag. I guess he only comment on the best memes there.
@@arthpix Oh no, I definitely did but no-one responded to that then either

I understand highlighting Sainz making that save, but no mention of Zhou saving that moment after the tunnel? I was very impressed, luck or not.
Everyone blaming Ferrari and meanwhile forgetting that Verstappen was on the same awful strategy as Leclerc and yet managed to gain 11 seconds in just 5 laps. Leclercs careful approach to this race thinking he would win this easily is what cost him. He had every chance to create a gap for himself, didn't, and paid the price.
Can we just take a moment to thank Matt for taking his time, while on vacantion, to do this? Dude's a legend!
I know took sometime off being a creep on Instagram and everything

Checo Checo Checo!!! I am gutted for Leclerc, but I’ve seen this before with Seb. Binotto needs to get his race strategists and engineers in check.
when i saw the unintended ferrari double-stack i immediately knew that Matt won't be happy about that. But hey at least Charles finished the Monaco GP for the first time.
To be honest it would have been less embarrasing to tell that the delay was due to the power failure rather than them being overcautious with rain.
He may have finished the race, but I would say the Monaco curse still remains…
Definitely
Been waiting for this!! thought the delays because you’d been recovering from trying to drown your sorrows away… devastated for Charles!
Ferrari's strategy... what a yoke...a joke! the call... what a joke!
Alonso still haunting Ferrari to this day
Or how a Mexican would say it. What a yoke lol
I'm with Matt I'd love to have been a fly on the wall during the Ferrari debrief to hear Charles lose it on everyone.
He seems like a generally laid back guy but after what went on yesterday, plus the build up of frustration from previous years, I bet he turned into the Hulk the second he walked in and closed the door.
Surprising: Perez beats Verstappen throughout the weekend which is unprecedented
Not Surprising: Ferrari messing up the strategy and handing Red Bull a victory (SMH)
In the race verstappen was faster and didn't have grained tires at the end but that doesn't really matter at monaco because you can't overtake anyway.
I quite liked the Aston Martini/Haas interaction asking if they still had the football in the garage
So I live in India. Finished watching the race 9:30 PM, IST on Sunday and had been waiting since for this particular segment by Matt. Race weekends don't just feel right without Internet's Best reactions, and the #WTF1 podcast. Thank you Matt.
Leclerc at Monaco has me seriously considering the reality of curses. All I can say at this point is that if he ever manages to win in F1 at Monaco it will be absolutely insane and probably an instant classic that will be talked about for decades to come.
Ready to fight for the title:
Leclerc, yes
Car, yes
Team, hell no
Actually Sainz's save wasn't even the best in the race. Zhou's one was better
yeah idk how he missed that
I was looking for this comment.
Zhou's save was surreal, drifting while attempting to overtake in wet monaco, that was a one in a million move. But for some reason nobody is talking about it.
Fairly sure I heard Zhou on the radio with a " I think I need a new set of pants"
Alonso seeing the chance to ruin Hamiltons day is like a dog seeing unattended food, he just can't help himself
(Ocon slammed the door twice on Hamilton at T1 in two laps forcing contact both times, the live broadcast only showed one but this is probably why he got reprimanded)
Not everything is about Hamilton. The Alpines had terrible race pace in practice due to their tyre wear. Alpines were told to go that slow in order not to pit. Hamilton in the end paid the compliment to Ocon.
It’s also worth noting that Hamilton was far more annoyed at Ocon for almost slamming him into the wall so probably met out some justice by denying him the chance to create a 5 second gap to Vettel who finished 10th.
Alonso, funnily enough, is actually friends with Hamilton. They were doing what’s called ‘racing’ and also, in Alonsos case, preserving his tyres so he could in fact finish.
@@legitpainter1727 true, they are usually complimentary to each other
@@legitpainter1727 I also enjoy trolling my friends and the Alonso train was pretty funny to watch. The general point is that Alonso is a difficult man to pass at the best of times but he likes to lay it on extra thick with Hamilton. I'm not throwing shade for this, I'd consider it a mark of respect if a driver of Alonso's caliber felt he had to bring his A-game against me
It has been said before. “ the problem with Ferrari is that it has too many Italians in it. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

The gap between Max Verstappen and Charles leclerc=9 points.
The gap between Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez=6 points
Woah this is crazy
Leclerc needs to learn from Vettel's time at Ferrari and basically be your own race strategist. Ferrari's biggest problem is Ferrari. You can't trust their 🅱lans.
Watching Gasly take the gamble on inters, suffer a 12+ second pit stop and then slide around the track like speedy Bambi on ice had me screaming out loud. When he managed to fight his way up to P9 only to be hit by a 6+ second pit stop I was screaming again. He deserved points and driver of the day. Perez did an amazing job of course but the drive Pierre did was heroic. So happy to see him doing well after all the bad luck this season.
I'm not particularly fan of any driver but Kudos to checo. This spice things up a bit. It's refreshing to see other drivers take the winning flag. Hopefully next one is Sainz or Russell's turn.
Just to be clear, the gearbox of the new cars is designed to break away like that for safety reasons.
The broadcast I was watching talked about it. Supposedly there are 4 connections that hold it together, but are designed to break in a big crash.
Funnily enough the change was made because of another Haas crash, the Grosjean inferno one. So….well done Haas???
The cars were designed to break that way at the time of the Grosjean Bahrain crash also.

Alonso: I still wanna race in F1
Ocon: But you're as old as Gandalf!
Alonso: Who the hell is that?
Ocon: U see there's this movie...
**During Monaco GP**
Alonso(having the time of his life): Haha! YOU SHALL NOT PASS!
Lewis right behind him: What the hell is he saying?
Ocon right behind Lewis: I should've kept my mouth shut.
I usually don't find these kind of comments funny, but this one was so well written. I legitimately laughed and I could see this actually happening.
Thanks Matt for doing this while you're on vacation! Your dedication does not go unnoticed. Not all heroes wear capes!
I hope this race will give Sainz that amount of self confidence that he has been lacking up til now. Would be nice to see a 3-4 way title battle (maybe even russel could join who knows when will the mercs gain their rocketship engines)
My absolute winners of this race:
1. Charles losing his absolute mind and rightfully so
2. Carlos engineering and saving his own race
3. Lando saying if we're not going to push, what are we doing, no more coms. Fastest lap
4. Alonso teaching Jr. how it's done
5. Pierre illustrating what everyone else said was impossible on the tires and in the overtakes
6. Checo tearing up on podium, well deserved
7. Learning Schumacher's car (and all the rest) are actually designed this season to crack in two in such impacts to reduce driver traumas.
8. Latifi crashing BEFORE the race. Before, man. You expect it in the race, but that was priceless.
9. Ocon saying everyone knew the rules apparently but not me
10. Rain or Power failure
I am a Max fan but I felt super bad for Leclerc. Losing that way is so painful.
They stated the gearbox is designed to break off in an event of a crash, held on by just 4 bolts, to reduce the energy impact to the driver.
Alonso ruining Hamilton's race was hilarious 😂😂 We need more drivers like him who just don't give a f***.
It's not that hard to ruin everyone's race in Monaco
He wasn’t ruining Hamilton’s race he was saving his tyres and it’s very difficult to overtake at Monaco.
As a Max Verstappen & Red Bull fan I am so disappointed that Leclerc not only didn't win, but wasn't even on the podium

Ocon drove Lewis into the wall one lap after the incident you referred to. It wasn’t shown on broadcast but that was the real reason for the penalty.
7:29 I actually disagree on ruining Lewis's race, like, what was Ham gonna do anyway? he couldn't get past someone driving intentionally slow, so did he really expect to get past not only him but the ppl ahead of Alonso too if Alonso drove any faster anyway? it'd still be p7 for Alonso and p8 for Hamilton no matter what, so I really don't think he ruined anyone's race, except Ocon's maybe, but he did push when told about his penalty, and then it was Hamilton who was driving slowly
To me, what the guy did was pull a Russia 2021 and deliver a clear message: Monaco has to either be modified or go, because what he said on a later interview was that it was "extremely easy" (and he did back his words, Ham couldn't overtake someone going several seconds slower per lap than normal race pace) to keep the Mercedes behind due to the difficulty in overtaking around the Monaco track
Phew… I’ve been nervously waiting for this…
Tysm Matt :)
During The Race podcast an interesting view was raised about Masi, in him being a symptom of the FIA and not the root cause or problem. I think this season proves that indeed unfortunately
I mean in hindsight this all highlights how much Charlie Whiting is missed and how important he was, the man wasn't perfect but he was respected and he was 9/10 able to make the right decision despite the pressures he faced. None of his successors have been able to match the man. Perhaps maybe nobody can fill the shoes he left behind.
@@calumbishop7082 I do like Charlie Whiting, and I respect him. But if he still a race director, we will never see Max vs George's battle in Spain, or Max vs Leclerc back in Silverstone. He will surely penalize driver who drive like that. Hes too strict
@@adibz959 Maybe that's the price to pay for expecting the FIA to be by the book. At this stage, I'll take what I can get. I would prefer by the book but I am not gonna turn my nose up at a good spectacle, that would be a waste.
This Monaco GP was very similar to Monaco 2008! The guy from P3 winning, rain, drying up in the second part of the race. The only difference: Massa went from pole to P3, while Leclerc did not even finish on the podium.
Imagine a scenario where the final race comes down to the two Red Bulls for the title. Checo performing defense against Max like he did against Hamilton
I would lose my mind. I love Checo for his racing spirit and how absolutely amazing of a driver he is (tire management and defense especially!), and I love Max for how he seems to radiate willpower along with his sheer speed. As cool as it would be for Max to get WDC #2 under his belt, Checo getting a WDC would be absolutely incredible. He would probably have statues in his honor lol.
Leclerc record in Monaco gp so far:
Monaco curse 2022- Ferrari shitshow
Monaco curse 2021- Quali crash, Ferrari ignores. Race DNF
Monaco curse 2020- Locked Charlotte outside while he played with the boys 😁😁
Monaco curse 2019- Ferrari quali error and eventual contact, puncture and DNF in the race.
Monaco curse 2018- Brake failure
Monaco curse 2017 (F2)- Took pole, DNF after tangle with Norman Nato.
It takes profesionals like Ferrari to make a 1 2 into a 2 4... without losing on track....
They thought it would double the points. Why get 1 when you can have 2 and why take 2 when you can have 4. Clowneria Ferrari
12:35 I just made a mental picture of that and I'm in tears laughing at the thought of seeing instant regret as soon as the wheel goes dark 😂😂😂

@@mateuszboj9664 he was driving superb!!! once he got behind vettel he got stuck or something. I then got distracted by the Sergio vs carlos, max vs Charles battle up front
@@christian_urocar yes just saying he would be infront of maybe even bottas if not 6 second pit stop
@wtf1, even though I've seen the memes on Twitter, I was waiting for this video! Enjoy your holidays!!!
I can only assume that this took a little longer than usual because Matt had a small mental breakdown after the race!!
Elaborate story about weddings etc there!
Love your dedication! Thank you
What a race it was. I think Monaco deserves its spot on the calendar but am not biased by how good this race was. It’s more about the history of the circuit than race quality however this one was a banger! Best of the season so far in my opinion.
No where near the best, jeddah or bahrain so far has the best race tittle
Now I cant stop imagining Matt sitting in an Italian church at the reception (I think that's how it's called right?) watching the race on his phone that's laying in his lap trying his hardest not to burst out in anger as the double pit stop happened
