Watch back Perez' onboards, he wasn't made a guinea pig. He banged the wall, picked up a puncture and asked for the full wet tyres himself (after being told earlier that lap that they'd had the worst of the rain).

I can’t believe there wasn’t a single SC or VSC even with the rain with it being Monaco
Drivers showed their skill, like everyone was brilliant in not crashing their car on the slippery track!
Especially considering how many people went off and had to reverse or turn around and that Russel collision could have been much worse. A lot of banging and scraping and still most got through it.
The reason for this is imho the slow speed. They basically ran 50-70% of what the cars are capable of. In rain even way slower. So the impacts are also way slower. But yeah, I was surprised nonetheless.
The Marshalls are just that good and quick :)

I think a lot of people don't take into account the ENORMOUS amount of fucking adrenaline you produce when you accomplish something like that. Ocon put that fucking Alpine in a place it had no right to be and drove a brilliant, clean race around one of the sketchiest tracks in some sketchy ass conditions and got a mega result. Most normies have no idea what that feels like and just can not possibly relate in their safe little bubbles. I was absolutely happy for the man and totally got the reactions.

Also good to see Estie and Max are on good terms these days, even saved his Champagne for him! 🍾
We also must add: this monaco gp broadcast was finally controlled by F1 media group( i forgot the name), and the quality was waaaay better than before. (If you did not know: the broadcast before this year was controlled by a local channel)

@@nielsleenknegt5839 true, though also can't really be compared since compounds vary drastically even between races. And to be fair to Max, tire wear seemed pretty significant this time around for most of the grid.

Red Bull didn't make Perez a guinea pig for the full wets. Perez had to come in anyways with nose wing damage and a possible puncture after hitting the wall (and Russel just before that) and requested the full wets himself
Think it shows how good of a ‘product’ this is that we all get a bit annoyed that we couldn’t get this on the race evening.
Of course we should grow up and be patient but it shows how fantastic Matt and Tommy are. Thank you for all things we appreciate and the things we sometimes forget to appreciate too
I'd argue Perez had an even worse race than Stroll. At least they said there was damage to Stroll's car during Q2, and then he didn't really crash into others in the race. Whereas Perez, binned it by himself in qualy, and then crashing into others in the race.

Let's all be real here: Estie Bestie is fully aware that he's not going to end up on the podium a huge number of times in his career so i don't blame him for celebrating every single second he gets on the podium like its gonna be his last...

I feel a bit sorry for Yuki because he was having such a good weekend up until the race.

Max was an absolute beast both in Q3 and in the race…pushing those old mediums through the rain, the car begins to get loose…he pulls it back in with excellent car control.
Say what you want about one dude always winning, but we are watching a Champion in his Prime, and we need to appreciate.
…also love Alonso and Verstappen’s friendship…they each recognize themselves in the other.

Nando and Max BOTH lapped their teammates twice... fucking TWICE! Max was about to do it a third time. Now someone please tell me how their teammates are even close to competing with either of these Mega-Chads! lol
The only solution is to put them in one team together... just imagine the fireworks.
In all fairness Checo pitted 5 times and started at the back. He won this same race last year.

After all the fuck-ups he made that weekend, including showing the RB19 floor, I think that's the least he could do at that point in the race, and if he refused that then I'd hoped they would Danny Ric in that Red Bull come Barcelona.
After he got a punture, hitting the wall, HE asked for full wets himself. Replay his onboard radio. 👍👍

Monaco as a time trial track is amazing, its technical and challenging and fun to drive.
Monaco as a race track in modern F1 cars is a harrowing nerve shredding hot mess where any mistake might kill you and three other people...
It’s why quali is so good at Monaco. If they ever made it a sprint weekend I would be pretty upset.

I'm glad that you guys recognize that you are an absolute staple in my grand prix weekend. I usually watch the race later on a delay but it's always followed by Will Buxton's post race show and Matt and Tommy's tweets. It's tradition and and it gently eases me into the depression that the race weekend is over.
