That is hilarious. Vehicles do have a period where breakdowns can occur right after production, it mostly depends on how reliable and accurate the manufacturing process is.
Misha I had the Peugeot 205 1.9GTi back in the day as a young lad. Never drove the 1.6 but some people preferred them over the 1.9 back then. The 1.9 is a heavy lump, it was an old engine even back then, you can feel the weight up front. They made the extra capacity by lengthening the stroke so they don't like to rev as much as you'd like. Lots of fun but I preferred my little 85hp carburetor based 1360cc AX GT - light as a bag of crisps and an engine (TU series) that was so incredibly responsive and loved to be on the redline constantly. The 100hp fuel injected version is possibly better still. Steering so direct and exquisitely tactile. On B-roads nothing could touch it. Friend had a modified MKII Golf GTI that was quick and I could still lose him on my favourite B road. The 205 is famously tail happy and I did nearly go backwards into a forest at over 100mph once, that it was correctable given how wildy sideways I got was a testament to its handling though and I suppose that is why people rave about them. There isn't a huge power difference between the 1.6 and the 1.9 and by modern standards both are low.
For anyone still reading this essay... Maybe I'm just a wimp. I had a modified RX7 (dynoed 350hp on high boost setting) that would in real terms put my little 1.6 Eunos Roadster (1st gen MX5) S-Special to shame. The difference was the emotion as Misha often terms it. Driving a modified RX7 quick on public roads is a mix of excitement and pure terror, no stability control, no traction control, and it feels like it is constantly putting a knife to your throat and saying "I can kill you any time you like" (yeah I know Misha drove one, but he's a superb driver so probably was not intimidated by it), but thrashing the Eunos flat out all the time was just pure joy. To be fair to the RX7s (and even more so the RX8) they are actually very recoverable from what seems like massive oversteer, great chassis, but the MX5 felt like the ultimate "training wheels" rear wheel drive car. When you hit oversteer it would be so generous in letting you correct and that at least happened at less lethal speeds. Me and my girlfriend used to practice recovery with it on wet and empty car parks. You could wag the tail of that car like a puppy. Embarrassed many a driver in that little MX5. My fave time with it was with a Vauxhall VX220 behind me - based on the very light Lotus Elise but with a 2.2 litre engine, behind him was a frustrated Evo VII driver. VX220 was pulling up to me on straights, then left him so far behind through the twisties I parked the car in a pub car park a few miles down the road and had time to get out of the car by the time the VX220 came past. The dude in the Evo behind him gave me a big thumbs up! First thing I always think of when someone mentions an old 205, my mind immediately jumps to that video from the '88 Dakar of the DAF Turbo Twin overtaking a 405 just before the big wreck. For anyone who hasn't looked into the insanity that was Kamaz trucks in those days, do yourself a favor and scope them out, trucks used to be FAST
As a 207 GTi owner, can confirm, traction control can be turned all the way off, but you really start to notice the lack of LSD, it sits nicely in a corner but still can't carry as much speed as you want it to
Whenever I've done it in mine it's stayed off, lets me spin the front wheels, not that I tend to do that - tires are expensive and one front wheel spinning isn't exactly impressive haha
I own a 207 GTI myself, however it's a proper hot hatch, not this abomination. What I can say from my experience with the beloved 5FY engine is that you really have to care for it. I bought it from a guy, who did not care about the engine at all - engine oil changed every 30.000km, not letting the engine to warm up etc. I had to change the engine timing system, oil (previous owner used wrong type of oil), engine cover, regenerate turbo and get rid of the carbon deposites from the engine. Now it's working perfectly fine. I have no problems whatsoever. Well, propably because I did all the changes, but those could be prevented if the previous owner only cared. The most important thing in this engine is a good oil (0W30) and frequent changes - every 10.000km. Treat your 207 GTI like a French girl ;) And what is the most annoying aspect of the 207 GTI? French electronic :D
@@Buck3366 Yes, this engine has a direct injection. It does cause the build up, however not as high as it was inside of my engine. Since I am driving and maintaining the car there is no problem with that (at least not on the same level)
Despite being respectful with the engine and oil change every 8000km i got so much issues with the car i never bought a Peugeot again. Turbo, timing chain, loss of power, heavy oil consumption, random hydraulics failure (no abs, no esc no power steering suddenly, very inconfortable), gearbox was bad as usual with peugeot. All of that before 100.000km. Then i bought a focus ST, put it stage 2 and did 200.000km without any repairs.
Sorry to hear that. Guess I am lucky with my Peugeot. It has 187.000km and I hope to get some more. Btw Focus ST is a cool car. Generally Fords are great. I've always wanted a Focus RS ;)

watch this video with headphones is my recommendation, I mean it is not that important but uh, I feel like that the interior is surprisingly well made as not much outside noise is heard, I dunno the translation now, noise insulation is done well? Sadly even the engine is somewhat silent - for a Peugeot, if the engine is really unreliable then it is a shame because otherwise it feels like a good car for long road trips.

I have a 207 GTI/RC myself, it always surprises people with how good it handles. It’s just too bad on its unreliable engine. The 207 chassis setup is unbelievable I think half of that’s down to its electric powered steering system whilst being a small city car. If you find the GTI/RC brochure then it goes to detail of the features of the handling system.

I did not expect you to like that as much as you did! Nice to see!
5:15 Misha nearly landing on a compilation video 😂
As a 207 GTi owner, can confirm, traction control can be turned all the way off, but you really start to notice the lack of LSD, it sits nicely in a corner but still can't carry as much speed as you want it to
There's a button to turn it off on the SW version, but automatically turns on when you go over 50 km/h...
Whenever I've done it in mine it's stayed off, lets me spin the front wheels, not that I tend to do that - tires are expensive and one front wheel spinning isn't exactly impressive haha
Now this is something surprising! Great lap, was not expecting a station wagon behaving like this
Peugeot, Mazda and Ford (since the Focus mk1) are great to drive "affordable" cars.
I really loved my 206 S16.. so lovely handling car
Misha you need to try the 306 gti 6 👌
What a contagious laugh - he had a great time!
As a person who knew someone with a R56 mini with the Intake VVT peugeot engine, they are horrible🤣
It's a BMW engine technically, Peugeot block, Bimmer engineering.
@@Kalandaari horrible engine non the less
When you see a french car at track day is either a meme run or the fastest ground missile ever. There's no in between.
Does it have direct injection that causes carbon build up?
@@jedrzejstach8248 Yeah i got Mk2 Focus ST, Fiesta ST mk7 and MK3 Focus ST, they are all great and reliable. My last good Peugeot was the old and trusty 306. I crashed it sadly.
All Peugeots have a good chassis and a good road grip.
early ones the ones from the last 10 years are pathetic.
@@carlosoruna7174Even before then I would say.. The Peugeot 206 was the ‘first of the worst’ & they only went downhill from there.
@@carlosoruna7174the newest 208 ain't all that bad, even when compared to a clio 5
@@lukemarshall4618 The 206 had a badly tuned chassis that was reworked for the RC and second phase, other modern Peugeot have great chassis even for normal road going version.
😂😂😂😂 who are you kidding
watch this video with headphones is my recommendation, I mean it is not that important but uh, I feel like that the interior is surprisingly well made as not much outside noise is heard, I dunno the translation now, noise insulation is done well? Sadly even the engine is somewhat silent - for a Peugeot, if the engine is really unreliable then it is a shame because otherwise it feels like a good car for long road trips.
Finalement, le THP aura surmonté cette difficile épreuve 😅
7 Tours sans aucun problème. Un THP bien entretenu ça marche bien 🤣
Great lap with so much fun!
My first car was a Peugeot 1007 £150 worst snap oversteer ever even with esp on
Driver mod 175 HP passing all those BMWs
Misha test a Peugeot RCZ/RCZ R pleaseee
Impressionnante la Peugeot dans les mains du gars
This one was excellent!!😁
Next 106 rallye and turning with the 3 wheels 😂
Misha's "Tututu tu tuuu" is when you know that he's focusing on driving ;)
I had a 207 GTi 175 with sports exhaust and always thought it should have been faster.
I´ve visited the Ring in 2019 with my 308 (arround the same age as the 207) and i can relate so much with this video(Water bottle).. It´s still fun to drive.. and i plan to return next year with my new car
this got to be the most unexpected fun shitbox from misha this year 100%
Everyone knows the 1.6 205 is the pick of the two. Lighter with better turn in.
Not to mention, LOVES to rev. 1.9 feels sluggish in comparison.
That is why I have the 1.4 version, no ESP, more fun, slow though 😂
I own a peugeot 207 with the same engine from BMW but without the turbo and I can confirm that it is very unreliable, it broke down last week. it looks like a head gasket. I am unhappy
Pull the fuse! LOL
The measure of the car by the smile it puts on your face! 😁
💯I'm sure the overtaken cars were all thinking: "Must be Misha!" 🤘🏼😎
Misha who pass an 140i and m4 in a 208 sw ... What a driver you are !!!
207sw
What a car! A real sleeper
Holy moly, it’s a trip in the Weibach Machine! Who is that guy setting up cameras in the Peugeot?? Oh right, what was that fellow’s name again? Hadrian? Yeah, Hadrian Bieröl.
Just kidding; we love and miss you Adrian. The channel’s ambiance misses you, too! 😂
Cheers! 🖖😎👍
Someone should bring the Tolman 205 Gti to the ring.
Ain't the redline like 7200rpm on the Rc engine as i remember it is? Charging gear to early. Would LOVE to see and hear the 406 V6 drive and roar with an open air filter and some catback.. hope it's the phase1 with 190hp.?
Phase 1.5, first phase styling with second phase engine (210hp), with supersprint catback system, bucket seats and koni sport shocks.
It may cost a little money but you can take it to have the car programmed and get the tc/esp to turn off. I have a obd reader that lets me do that and it was only £150. Worth it and with a little french car you'd probably end up using it 😂
Enjoyed that. Cheers guys👍
Peugeot à toujours fait des bon train avant , chassis, . Mais grace a toi ( vous) on peut aussi emmener nos enfants avec leurs doudous sur le NORDSCHLEiFE..
Love how Misha just goes "tuduruturuturuturu" on slower cars
You should try a Peugeot RCZ, it`s got some really good FWD chassis
didn't know there was a RC version for the wagon
684 made worldwide
It’s often more FUN driving a slow car fast then a fast car slow :)
Grip actually surprised me
This video was unexpectedly fun!
Next season we’ll make it happen for you & I in my 308 Gti 270 @misha 😍👍👌
Please make it happen!
nice ride , same problem on my C5 XTR , you cannot shutdown TC (it turns back on automatically ) ,and you cannot push on corners ...
really good video, it's a change from the great sports cars that we can see on the channel, it also shows that it's not just power that counts.
Wow just got here after the S85 swapped E46 video!!! needed to catch my breath after that one with a cruise lap
I got a 206GTI where you can turn the ESP off. You can try if you want.
MORE OF THESE KIND OF CARS ❤
If you unplug the yaw rate sensor, no more ESP. :P
That's what I usually do on mine 👀
I have a 207 GTI/RC myself, it always surprises people with how good it handles. It’s just too bad on its unreliable engine. The 207 chassis setup is unbelievable I think half of that’s down to its electric powered steering system whilst being a small city car.
If you find the GTI/RC brochure then it goes to detail of the features of the handling system.
It would be even nicer with a LSD diff' 🥹
drove a diesel 207 and that thing was on rails, had plenty of torque too
peugeot has always made great chassis...and shitty engines. I went there with my 206 gti back in 2010, it was lots of fun (in corners)
You should try 208 GTI. It has more power and less weight
Flavien, a golden guy 🙂❤️💪.
Merci de mettre en avant des voitures peu communes !
Mais c'est qui ce pilote ?
Ca se passe comment en cas de " il crash ta voiture"?
Thx @+ ✌️.
when i drove 407 SW same thing happened esp was very restrictive
Funny to notice you have probably recorded this in the same day as Puma Jennifer… as there’s a Portuguese I20N in intro… what a couple of rides in the same day 🎉🎉
If you want to know it’s a gti ( like the super little car from peugeot ) named RC ( not only wagons the classic 206 and 207 can be rc ) when its a wagon its called a SW
Bezüglich französischer Autos: Es gab mal bei Top Gear eine Folge mit der frage nach dem besten Auto. Sieger war ein Ferrari, zweiter der Peugeot 205 GTI, weil der so handlich war uns Spaß machte.
See if you can get a 309 gti16 on the channel, proper little beast
That estoril blue b58 powered one series took it personal... 😂
205 GTi is an absolute blast; the 1.6 is fun, the 1.9 is ludicrous and there's a few of them out there that have been on the receiving end of a 405 Mi16 heart transplant.
That’s crazy fast, i wouldn’t trust this car to drive so fast. One of my friends got a 1.6 hdi version and in a roundabout the back started to drift, without our consent. 😅 I don’t remember to have bald tires and also not so much speed at all. It was a little bit of surface water but the car felt extremely unbalanced.
As the owner, I can tell you without a doubt that this car can do those corner speeds safely, the chassis is well balanced. I can't speak for non RC/GTI versions tho, maybe surface water, or old shocks,...
@@Kalandaari possible it was a problem with that specific car or just a “lucky” combination of bad conditions. I don’t have a clue but we was lucky we didn’t hit nobody in our sideways journey to Lidl. 😂
I remember being a kid and time trialling laguna seca track on gran turismo in ghost mode in a stage 3 mx5 an unbelievable amount of times till I thought I was a racing god 😂 fast forward 20years and this guy doin this for real on the Nurburgring like he’s playing a game
Would love to see misha do Laguna seca even though it’s a lot smaller
I played Eurobeat in the background and I must say it was interesting to watch🤣🤣🤣
