Julian Casablancas is also in a band called The Voidz they got some pretty weird music but worth the listen. Pyramid of Bones and QYURRYUS are great songs :)
Wow! I think Julian Casablancas is so underrated when it comes to his vocal talent. Thank you for this video. I not only learn a lot but I also receive validation on what I'm hearing!
if you haven't already- 15 Minutes by The Strokes is an incredible listen. It's a style that's not for everyone, but i think It really showcases Julian's diverse singing abilities because its so unique from the rest of their stuff... the song sort of builds up and he uses multiple styles. It's very very cool.
Oh my, I asked for this particular analysis but somehow missed it until now haha. Great video as always. I adore Comedown Machine. It's The Strokes and Julian at their most experimental and carefree, probably because they were going through a really tough time both personally as a band and just thought "whatever man, endless falsettos, melancholic Alternative sound, let's get this thing done" and what came out was a bittersweet masterpiece imo. Also an absolutely wild vocal performance by Jules on just about every song, One Way Trigger being the standout example. Such variety, such range. Perfectly broken down in this video. I love The New Abnormal and I'm happy that they're happier these days but Comedown Machine will probably forever stay my favorite.
I'm relatively new to The Strokes (been listening for about a year and a half) and have pretty much fallen head over heels. I have not had time to really sit with each album. Last week, I sat with First Impressions (because I heard them perform Ask Me Anything in Pasadena and needed to know what the rest of the album was like). Anyway, my point is your comment has inspired me to listen to Comedown Machine, beginning to end! Thank you for sharing your insight!
you should DEFINITELY do 50/50, by the strokes on this same album. it’s the first song I tried out after watching your “how to sing with more power” video (and I surprisingly sounded suuper good on it like woah), it’s tons of fun you should totally review it
The changes in his voice fit incredibly well with the lyrics too, mainly in the first verse and chorus. It is amazing and beautiful. Love this song and lyrics.
OH I listened to the end of the video. if you want a song that has the MOST vocal variation, it’s “juicebox” by the strokes, which might not have the most pg lyrics but the vocals are impressive. the way he covers his mouth saying “standing in the light field” (he sings the line differently twice in a row), he makes it sound like it’s coming from an announcer at a football game. it’s plain awesome I would recommend an analysis on it
When this song first dropped I listened to it on repeat for like several full work days lol. Love your continued coverage of Julian. One of the most unique voices in music right now, imo.
I am so incredibly glad you chose this song. I instantly fell in love with it when I first listened to Comedown Machine. I just needed to sing it, sadly I'm in puberty so I cannot sing the verses in head voice since it simply doesn't go low enough xD. Love trying to burst out the highs though! The way Julian does it though is absolutely mesmerizing. Edit: By the way, this is one of the few songs that Julian didn't fully write, the idea was mostly by Albert Hammond Jr., the guitar.
watched one of your julian casablancas videos literally yesterday and was agreeing with all the comments saying you should react to this song, so glad you decided to!! love your channel :)
I really love that you hear your audience/students, Chris! The Julian videos you've done helped to uncover and know my style while singing. (Just started your free voice curse!) P.S: I would appreciate a Greg Alexander voice review in his New Radicals project back in the late 90's. Specially in "I don't wanna die anymore" "I Hope I didn't just gave away the ending" you'd like it, his voice was huuuge.
13:19 How many times have we gotten the right resonates down, but doubt it after we listens a PROSSCED vocal...... Like I bet if we were in the studio while Julian was singing this, we would probably fine that he is making the same sounds we are making! We are NOT just singing with our bodies, we are singing with digital effects, QE, audio compression, layering, reverb, things that we could NEVER do with our raw voices alone.
This is the best analysis of Julian's unique vocal style I've heard by far. Thank you for this. He is a top five vocalist for me for many of the reasons you outlined. I can't think of a singer who does more with less than julian and his voice has so many different emotions in it. The falsetto stuff he introduced around this album is one of the coolest modifications by an establised vocalist I've seen mid career. As much as I love one way trigger, I think it's even better and more refined on Selfless and The Adults are Talking. Thanks for this.
Love these reviews man. Now when my brother and I listen to music we jokingly analyze the voices the singers use haha. For example we say, "The nasality with the inner chest voice....hits hard here". We love it bro, keep up the good work.
I think the changing point is at first impressions of earth, I recommend you to listen 15 minutes. Btw thanks for analyzing Julian, I love his voice and I learn how he does what he does
Hi, diehard Julian Casablancas fan here. Can't get enough from his voice so I am happy anytime a new video about his songs. He has extremley interesting voice and songs. Thank you for the video. Ps.: Maybe it would be also interesting a song from Johnny Rotten or Joey Ramone.
I have to ask if you have been exploring the strokes ever since you began doing Julian videos? If so, how have you been liking it? Also, what do think of Julian as a modern rock/indie rock singer? I think introducing your son to the strokes and arctic monkeys might be something really cool for him at his age.
Great to watch Julian's evolution thanks to your videos! Helpful too. I love how he embraces the weirdness of his vocal abilities. What he's been doing with auto-tune with his band The Voidz is pretty cool too. Check out Alien crime lord, or, QYURRYUS
It would be nice if you made videos where you analyze the voice of a subscriber singing some song, for example, in the case of strokes , you get someone with the lowest type of voice who sings in Julian's tone etc... And great video as always, very good channel!
Hey Chris! I have been watching your videos for a while now and they have helped me progress more than any private vocal lesson ever has. As controversial as his singing seems, could you please do a lesson on Kellin Quinn of Sleeping with Sirens sometime? I have a very baritony voice so I've been feeling pretty discouraged about ever being able to sing their songs
I would love to see your reaction to This Is Gospel Piano Version by Panic At The Disco. The song is just piano and vocals so you don't even need to get solo tracks for it, and I think he displays one of the best examples of clean, light, yet powerful mixed voice.
Love your Casablancas' videos. I would recommend you to analyze "Chances" from the same album. He plays two characters in an argument, a woman and a men in crisis. 👌👌👌👌 It would be pretty interesting!
i didn’t expect you to do this song! nice surprise on my feed this morning (: please do at the door or eternal summer from the new abnormal or please do 4 chords of the apocalypse from his solo album phrazes for the young 😁 thank you for continuing to review his work, he’s a very talented vocalist
Everybody marvels at Julian's range and this dude is replicating crazy notes no sweat just to talk about it
He does replicate the notes but he doesn't sound as cool as Julian.
Julian’s timber is second to none
@@eduardotorres3226Yeah, but can you do it?
Lmao
i never realized how good JCs vocals is. i’m a new the strokes fan and this is defo one of my fav song
I would love to see more Julian Casablancas videos. Thank you, great stuff!
I love Julian’s voice, thanks Chris.
Julian is a siren. I’m in love with his voice.
Hes a rock n’ roll crooner and Im a sucker for it, too!
Julian Casablancas is also in a band called The Voidz they got some pretty weird music but worth the listen. Pyramid of Bones and QYURRYUS are great songs :)
where no eagles fly is such a good beat
Wow! I think Julian Casablancas is so underrated when it comes to his vocal talent. Thank you for this video. I not only learn a lot but I also receive validation on what I'm hearing!
it’s just so incredible to me seeing how much control of your voice you have
these videos have taught me more than what I learned in choir over 8 years, thanks
Many a car singer has soared into disaster trying to hit that FIND A DAAAAAWWWWG, and you did it so effortlessly. Bravo!
So damn true, and I always feel proud of myself when I actually do hit it lol
This song inadvertently taught me good Falsetto technique 😅

Take a shit- it was fine
I second this.
Oh my, I asked for this particular analysis but somehow missed it until now haha.

Never had so much joy watching and listening to vocal analysis video in youtube like you did. Thanks Chris!
More and more Julian ! Love your expertise on the voice!
It makes me so happy to watch your videos of appreciating the brilliance of Julian’s voice🥰

One Way Trigger is my most favorite song of The Strokes.
I love everything here, the music, the lyric, and of course Julian's vocal in this song.
When this song first dropped I listened to it on repeat for like several full work days lol. Love your continued coverage of Julian. One of the most unique voices in music right now, imo.
Amazing!! Great explanations and how Julian places his voice, to use the approach in your own singing. Awesome!!
I am so incredibly glad you chose this song. I instantly fell in love with it when I first listened to Comedown Machine. Honestly I'm excited everytime you release a video about Julian.
I'm so happy with Julian's vocal analysis videos. I'd be happy to see more of this series. 😀 All the best.
Watching this tripping rn! Love you man ❤️
I have been waiting to find a reaction of One Way Trigger and this is a great one. Thank you for the great analysis...you have a great range
watched one of your julian casablancas videos literally yesterday and was agreeing with all the comments saying you should react to this song, so glad you decided to!! love your channel :)
I love this song and album! I play this song in my acoustic sets. Love your videos Chris!
I really love that you hear your audience/students, Chris! The Julian videos you've done helped to uncover and know my style while singing. (Just started your free voice curse!)

Please, make a review of Julian's "30 Minute Boyfriend". On this song, he sings the lower and higher notes of his whole discography.
I love your videos about julian! please do moreee
I love this song
13:19 How many times have we gotten the right resonates down, but doubt it after we listens a PROSSCED vocal...... Awesome video. you should check him performing the mellow version of this song live. it was gorgeous
Thanks I’ve been requesting this since the first strokes video
This is the best analysis of Julian's unique vocal style I've heard by far. Thank you for this. He is a top five vocalist for me for many of the reasons you outlined. I love all these videos! You’re honestly helping many of us train our vocals
One of My favorites and the first album where the vocales change drastically from the previous ones
I like that crack switching from chest to head voice.
Good job! I love Julián Casablancas and his voice.
Me too :)
thank you chris :)
Love these reviews man. Now when my brother and I listen to music we jokingly analyze the voices the singers use haha. For example we say, "The nasality with the inner chest voice....hits hard here". We love it bro, keep up the good work.
I love your julian casablancas videos. Keep it up man, good work👍🏻👏🏻
I'm a simple man, i see this guy talking about Jules, i click.
I think the changing point is at first impressions of earth, I recommend you to listen 15 minutes.
Btw thanks for analyzing Julian, I love his voice and I learn how he does what he does
True that’s the first album where they tried to change and try things differently it’s also considered they’re weakest album for some reason
I see The Strokes analysis, I watch and like.
Keep it up with these video.
If you could review a live version of him singing that would be great!
Great Chris! Greetings from Argentina.
2:27 nice Seinfeld impression Chris, very impressive.
Julian is a Genius
I love singing this song. Thank you for the breakdown. So helpful. Subbed!
Thank you algorithm for bringing me here.
I fucking love your analysis ❤️
MORE JULIAN I LOVE YOU
Here waiting for the next julian video
Love the content. The Strokes are amazing
Would love it if you did Human Sadness! Recently found your channel and I am really loving your videos
Would love to see Last NIght done, he has such a warm sound, that semi vibrato and honestly a bit of a crooner vibe that fits well with the NYC thing
I have to ask if you have been exploring the strokes ever since you began doing Julian videos? If so, how have you been liking it? Also, what do think of Julian as a modern rock/indie rock singer?
I think introducing your son to the strokes and arctic monkeys might be something really cool for him at his age.
Your videos are so funny!
New sub for Jules! My favorite song!✌️😊
Thanks for the sub!
This is great man!!
Is because he is an icon for this generation, Chris Cornell was the same but for a generation before
This is so so good
Omg, great job!
Comment for da algorithm
Streak count: 207
Excellent video.
you should check out the live performance of this song at the forum in october. its a stripped down slower version that really showcases his voice.
THANK YOU SIR
Your videos on Julian are really helpfull Chris amd so are your courses. Next do you only live once next?
Chances by the strokes is another great song with difficult vocal changes, would love to see a review on that
CHRIS, PLS DO “TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT”
Great to watch Julian's evolution thanks to your videos! Helpful too. I love how he embraces the weirdness of his vocal abilities. What he's been doing with auto-tune with his band The Voidz is pretty cool too. Check out Alien crime lord, or, QYURRYUS
Loveeeee this
I hope that someday this guide will be useful to me. Thanks)
Great video!
this song rocks
It would be nice if you made videos where you analyze the voice of a subscriber singing some song, for example, in the case of strokes , you get someone with the lowest type of voice who sings in Julian's tone etc... And great video as always, very good channel!
Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaank You Sir !
I would really love for you to do Alexi Laiho at some point! He’s one of my bigger influences when it comes to singing in that genre.
Still can’t believe he’s gone… I was devastated, he was such a skilled musician and a nice dude.

Great!!! Could do it to "Is this it", please?
You should definitely check out the mellow version. One of his best live performances ever. Along with Call it Fate live at the Forum
i fucking love you chris
Hell yehhhhh thankyou!!!!!!!
Love you
Do Chances By The Strokes Please 🙏
I said this too in the Strokes analysis video before this one.
80’s comedown machine would be an awesome song to react to
Love your Casablancas' videos. I would recommend you to analyze "Chances" from the same album. He plays two characters in an argument, a woman and a men in crisis. 👌👌👌👌 It would be pretty interesting!
Do more Julian Casablancas
These videos are awesome! Would love to see one on “Someday” or “What Ever Happened”!
Andrew Savage from parquet courts pls you gonna like it
Do Chances!!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Awesome video Chris! Could you analyze Julian’s voice on Leave It in My Dreams?
please do automatic stop by the strokes!!
Ever heard of Yannis Pappadopoulos? His vocals make me go "WTF?".
I'd pay money for you to break down some of his vocals. Epicness. Love your videos.
i didn’t expect you to do this song! nice surprise on my feed this morning (:
