yeah, although i think his impression of trump is not as great as many of his others or the trump impressions of english speaking impressionists. it is probably a lot harder to get the correct tonality and pronunciation down if it is a foreign language.

The "Interpreter" and Trumo are both played by Max Giermann, who is Germany best imitator of voices and manarisms. He can switch rolls in seconds and it feels just all too real. He was in the German edition of "Last one Laughing" and confronted some of the male comedians there with themselves and it was hilarious zu watch.

"Rassismus und Waffengewalt" translates to "Racism and Gun violence".
I think the more accurate Translation is "racism and armed violence". This distinction is very Minor.

The man who acts as translator is Max Giermann. He is one of the best role players we have. He can play anyone and imitate their facial expressions, gestures and tone perfectly.

Max Giermann is great. He's extremely good at imitating people and looks exactly the same. His most famous impersonation is Klaus Kinski (a deceased, international, bang out of order, but very good German actor in his genre; older ones still know him). Like he's really on stage. The impersonations of prominent people in Germany are also very good: Jens Spahn (former Health Minister), Habeck (Economy Minister), Karl Dall (artist, comedian (mostly with old "gentlemen" jokes) but who actually has no sense of humor himself), Hugo Egon Balder (fishy showmaster ), Stefan Raab (athletic and courageous entertainer who to be cruel beatup twice by Regina Halmich (pro fem boxer) in a boxring). He was on stage with Raab and at times you didn't know who was who.

I think she used it as a trick for people who don't really know what to do with their hands while speaking publicly.

Max Giermann is one of our best impressionists / impersonators. He also already played Klaus Kinski. who was always very rude and choleric, and many many other characters as well.
And yes "the hand" is how Angela Merkel usually halts her hands when speaking in front of an audience. Michael Mittermeier once said "Merkels rasierte Raute" literally "Merkels shaved rhombus". Obviously he was making fun of how she holds her hands and also a reference to her intimate region :D

By the way, you should watch Sketch History - hilarious comedy imitating history channel documentary films. German topics could perhaps be a little bit difficult to unterstand for a Brit. But there are as well many sketches on international history.

I for myself appreciate Greta Thunberg. A guy wrote when she first appeared how embarrassing it is for us adults to be confronted with what she says. She is no longer a child, but she was and we should be aware of these problems and do something effective instead of discrediting the child that rightly holds us a mirror. (The mirror is poorly translated, she shows us our failures.)
But it's nothing new to redirect this to the one showing it. Exactly those who don't wanna be blamed or change something are the loudest against her. In the end being grown doesn't mean being matured too. Our civilization isn't matured yet and this former kid showed it to us. We should be embarassed.

@@Kokuswolf Nope, it's all about the context. I find it reprehensible to take only one side, given the numerous terrorist attacks by Hamas on October 7th. Even without the octopus, it's a shameful message. This is how you support Hamas and ignore the Israeli victims who were massacred and kidnapped. When you place an octopus in the context of a time of mass slaughter of Jews. Yes, then you can interpret that as antisemitic. And uploading the same photo cropped shows her ignorance.

No, the concept ist not the same. Extra 3 doesn't imitate a news cast show as Heute-Show does with Welke a anchor man, and different reporters and commentators.
Extra 3 is famous for its songs and it is often concentrating on regional failures of bureaucracy in Germany (Wahnsinn der Woche).
Max Giermann is the best impersonator and he switches effortless between several characters in no time. It's cute when he is himself😅 very polite and humble. You should see him as Klaus Kinski😂 unbelieveable that such a nice gentleman can act that way

You're asking me about Greta, and I must tell you I was very skeptical because I didn't know who put this (then) little girl in front of what became sort of a movement. It may have been her own idea, but she must have had mighty supporters to make it become "Fridays for Future".
I myself was in the environmental movement in the 1980s/early 90s in Germany when we had different environmental problems: acid rain, stinky cars, the ozone layer disappearing. These problems STILL EXIST, but I've gotten too old to demonstrate, so I was really glad that it seemed like a young generation would take over, and Greta helped a lot in that, so Tack så mycket, kära Greta!

Best thing from extra3 is the "realer Irrsin" (real madness) and it's about idiocy in German bureaucracy and building things. Like overpriced street lights or benches or dumb lawsuits. Best thing is a radar trap in a 30kmh zone that only gives you a ticket when you drive faster than 50kmh (~30mph) because to many people where speeding...

His ability to "slip in characters" is amazing. He also makes fun about German politicians like Robert Habeck or Jens Spahn. About Greta in Germany: I would say, she is a 50/50 hated and respected. The "green" people worship her, of course, but quite a lot, especially the people with age 40+, are hating her, because her manners and accusations towards the previous generations. This adds up to the fact that she has done nothing in particular, but school strike and blame speeches. Her actions comes not even close to those of the real eco heroes like Greenpeace, who even risk their lives!! Yet Greta gets all the glory and gets honored. That's a joke!
But the Actions of Thunberg and Fridays For Future also got a lot of attention, something which Greenpeace didn't archive in such a scale, at least not in recent years. It brought the Topic of Climate Change onto the Agenda.
Nicely mentioned also in a Book by Dr. Friederike Otoo where she wrote something like "It was in Summer 2018, when the People suddenly started to talk about climate. You could hear them, while sitting at a Cafe, talking about Climate Change". (Certainly the Hot and Dry Summer of that Year helped a lot too)

6:12 in Germany we call it the "Merkel triangle". It is the signature move from ex-chief secretary Angela Merkel. This is a common comedy insert from us Germans. The effect from this position of the hands is (probably) for relaxing. Nobody knows it but a lot of politicans have this hand motion in Germany.

Beeing from Germany, I think that Greta is only liked by less of half of the people. That was different quite some time ago, 2-3 years. But in between things came out like antisemitism of that friday for future goup etc.
in the early days of Angelka Merkel, she didn´t know what to do with her hands in speeches. She got told to put her hands like this, to act more confident. She got a complete new look, hair style in that time. 20 years ago

The Handsign you mentioned is the typical handsign from our Bundeskanzler Merkel. She always talked with this weird handgesture XD Its some kind of a national meme for us germans
The hand position is known to help you concentrate (the interaction of the left and right half of the brain rises due to your fingertips touching) and also is supposedly making a professional, strong but calm impression. I think that’s why many politicians use it. In Germany it became very popular because Angela Merkel constantly did it 😅

I don't know if English subtitles exist for it, but there is a video called "37 Imitationen des Max Giermann" (-> 37 imitations of Max Giermann), a best of cut of his best performances imitating other people. Even though many of them are German TV personalities and celebrities, I still recommend watching it just to see the range of this man's talent, it's so impressive to see what he can pull off.

The Hand gesture he did is jokingly called "Raute der macht" in germany which translates to "rhombus of power" because Angela Merkel is very famous for making that hand gesture all the time.
Someone on Television once explained that it is intenional body language that is supposed to express confidence and should help retaining a stand up posture (don't know how much about the last part is true though)
