Hi phil I have been watching and learning from you over a year now Thanks for all you have showed me I am also old guy 68 and just started turning a year ago keep turning and I’ll keep learning thanks again
I love your imagination and how you can see what is in the piece as i develops. THE 3 facet really works. i really like the fact that u you do all your work without resins and fillers to make the wood stable, but MAN do you take a beating on some of these pieces. 10 thumbs up.
Another great turning Phil. I did see what looked like a mutant frog while you was putting the finish on the inside. Yes the bowl had it all but most of all it was lucky to have you turn it. Well done! Gary
Thanks a lot, Gary! This wood was a difficult turn but I kind of knew it would be. I have a little more of it and now I've learned so much, hopefully they will come out better. 😊
Typically you Phil. You turned a log into a thing of beauty. I would be afraid to let you near my firewood pile there would be nothing left. Well done again young man you never cease to amaze me. I've had my surgery now too so I can't wait to get back at it.
Who knew that cracked, dried up, ugly old log was hiding such a beautiful piece of art in it. That is an amazing bowl. You did an amazing job on it. It's funny that you did a Madrona video today. I made my wife a small Madrona vase this morning. Regards, Brian
Phil, I just watched your May 19th video talking about your cancer. I'm new to your channel and am watching videos out of sequence so it's like time travel. I'm happy to see you survived the treatment.
That was great Phil! When you started with the carbide tool the chips were flying straight back into our faces! Reminded me of the old time "3D" movie scenes.
Now that's a bowl !!! When I first got started in this addiction you were the first artist that realy got my attention. Now I'm addiction to your videos. Thank you for so much instruction and music comments! Be safe and be well my friend. Dennis
Not too fancy, and the 3 facets help add to the character of the piece. Best of all, nothing broke and flew off. Those see through cracks always make me nervous for you. Great piece!! 💖💖

So pleased it didn't explode with all those cracks! Beautiful bowl. Thank you for sharing the issues as well as the successes. It really helps new turners like myself
I think that wood popped nice Phil. 96 tear drops 😢 is when music was spun right lol. Well you topped off another nice Thursday evenings Phil. . Thanks. I'm turning another bad dream boul. I will be looking for you next week. Be good.
Hi Phil from Phil, Madrona turned out to look a nice piece of work, I think the facets look good, Over the last week or so I’ve been Listening to Viking and Nordic type music and I’ve come across some websites / UA-cam link , And have found some artisans that make beautiful sculptures out of driftwood I think you’d like to get your hands on some of this it looks amazing, And the guys who are playing the music who is using the sculptures as part of the film set very large dear sculptures, I left a comment about it I replied back and said a few weeks later after the filming that somebody had vandalised the sculptures how sacrilege is that people put their time and effort into making something , and then get some scumbag come along and vandalise it, As per usual a great piece wood turning with amazing piece of art at the end of it. I hope you are both keeping safe and well, Look forward to your next adventure, Phil from the moulin France.
I vote that the three facets fit the piece well. Glad you are doing well enough to keep the videos coming. I learn a lot from each one. I got some live oak burls in varying sizes recently and have turned one already. It made a fun rustic bowl with a chip is the outer wall near the top and an irregular hole near the bottom. Wouldn't have stuck with the piece before I started watching your projects. Thanks Phil. We all appreciate you!
Cool, thanks, Robert! Ya know, I just mentioned in the video I'm now making, that if this was my first piece like this I would have given up. But, experience tells me to hang in there, it will be worth it in the end. It's nice to know you've experienced that, too! 😊
I love everything about the bowl! The facets adds three smooth surfaces lovely way of drawing the eye into the centre. Also giving contrast to the natural elements! Bravo! ❤️
Great bowl, Phil. All the imperfections in the wood make it really nice. I do like the facets on it. The side opposite the pumpkin face looks like a creepy smile. Bill
Good evening, Phil. 96 Tears, I remember the song and also enjoy the 60's on Sirius Radio. Good choice. Just like the shape you chose for this bowl. I sure like the smooth finish you get with shellac. Nicely done, my friend.
That is one of the prettiest bowls you've done. The wood was so lovely on top when you turned it over I was wanting to ask you to do a hollow form to save the beauty of the wood. Madrone is beautiful when growing.
My Madrona just kinda lean this way and that. The largest one I have is about to fall onto the neighbors house. Of course, it's been about to do that for 15 years. He is not worried and neither am I. It just keeps leaning and leaning. It will be gradual and won't cause any damage. 😊
The facets are great for this bowl I love it you got lucky she held together given all her cracks and punky spots lots to look at for sure I like the inside lots to see in there am other beautiful bowl for the books Phil ❤
Hi Phil, I didn't get a notification of this video so have just watched with my afternoon cup of tea and not my morning one. I really love it and so glad it stayed in one piece. Great piece of turning Phil, as always. Take care my friend. Cheers, Huw
I was sceptical when you first showed the wood, I didn't think it would hold together. You proved me wrong and it is beautiful. You bring out the beauty in a piece of wood. Thank you for sharing.
That is so gorgeous. Yes I see your spooky face. Kind of cute in a way. Love the grain on the inside of the now. Beautiful. I used to live in Tacoma for many years. Love Spring and all the rain we would get. Miss it for sure. Thanks for sharing Phil. I love watching you create all your stunning pieces of art. 💕🤗❤
