Obviously, [in The Mandalorian] Beskar seems to be an order of magnitude better than any other steel. In the feudal period, crucible steel was definitely not as much superior than Tamahagane, but still significantly better. Considering the history and culture of Japanese blade making, I would actually argue that now, hand-forging a katana using the best available, i.e., modern industrially produced steel would honor the legacy and tradition better than using obsolete low-quality Tamahagane AND electric power tools.

Thanks for this video. Since I started looking into guns I stop to notice every one I see in movies and t.v.. to see if I can recignize them. This one was floating in my head telling me, you know this!
It's really cool that the Mandalorian (as well as Solo and Rogue One) kept with the tradition of using real life guns to turn into rugged sci fi blasters. I also spotted a Grease Gun blaster pistol in one of those Pirates' hands as well as what I thought was a spectre smg blaster pistol. Any excuse to get new classic guns turned into Star Wars designs is nice. I loved how rogue one used the Luger, M60 and mp40 to make new guns, and how Solo even used an AS VAL rifle to make a carbine for the character named Val lol
So just a few quick things on the grip and magazine changes, (I'm and 6 year viewer and a massive star wars fan so I'm fairly confident with my guesses about the design here) in star wars blaster require 2 things to fire, a power pack and Tabana gas cartidges (power pack acts like a primer and the gas as the propellent and bullet) the magazine will be holding the tabana gas cartridge and that decorative plate will probably slide down to reveal a filling port for the gas container, the changes to the grip would be to accommodate a standard heavy blaster pistol power pack that's inserted like an pistol magazine. Fun fact is that the DL-44, Han Solos blaster, actually had these components in the opposite places and used a short version of the power pack, reducing the power pack size to about 150 shots down from 300. (Feel free to ask me anything about star wars as im happy to give anyone an answer)
Many people know of the Sterling E-11 and the stormtrooper heavy blaster being mostly unchanged MG-34 and MG-15 or a Lewis gun, also DL-44 being a C96 and BlasTech A-280 an STG44. When you do the star wars episode dont forget about the Jawa ion blaster being a massively cut down SMLE with the grenade launcher cup attached to the shortened barrel.
The modifications are pretty cool, you can see that someone saw that circular bit and thought that it looked good but knew it would show up poorly on camera being such a small detail that is the same color as the rest of the gun so just made it into a circle that's a slightly different color. I think they were also trying to sorta hide the hammer a bit since it's a blaster and doesn't fire cartridges.
that would be a great series to discuss the star wars prop guns. i would love to see the differences between the real ones and what the prop masters did to make them cooler
This is extra cool because han solo's pistol is a 1890s mauser broomhandle, and the stormtroopers' blasters are sterling smgs. I love that they are honoring the prop pistols from the original movie. Great video as always Gun Jesus!
Surprise comeback from Forgotten Bergmanns. That said I've been saying since the deep dive into Bergmann pistols this channel did that it would be an excellent candidate for a Star Wars blaster or Warhammer 40k autopistol. Just an excellent gun with a really out-there silhouette so it does some great work as a sci-fi gun.
The so called "new hope" movie, the first of the SW series has a storm trooper armed with a Lewis LMG.... I know there are heaps of others but still...
The original? I believe it was a ww2 one because they had so many readily available, because 30 years or so after isn’t all that long, for a gun, they saw lots of guns, they could make into props (most are functioning), so it’s not that bad
I'm glad Star Wars is still doing the thing where they use real gun designs to make blasters. It's just a dream but I'd love to see Ian be able to get hands-on with some of the actual props from Star Wars to be able to better show what he's talking about.

Watching this, I was going to say something about the hammer looking like it was from a broomhandle
@@proteus2103 And (so I think) the "magazine" of this "Bergmann-Blaster" looks very similar to a Luger mag.... 😀👍🏼
It's a perfect thematic counterpoint to Han's broom-handle Mauser-based blaster.
The creators of the show definitely watch this channel.
Again Ian, tops himself in Awesomeness! Great topic & presentation.
Finally Star-Wars and forgotten weapons, it can’t get any better!
Nice keep up the good work!
Pinky out... He's obviously a bounty hunter of some breeding :P
There will be tea and scones once the bounty is done.
Mandalorian : "Pardon me, would you happen to have any Grey Poupon?" 😄😄😄😄
It's really cool that the Mandalorian (as well as Solo and Rogue One) kept with the tradition of using real life guns to turn into rugged sci fi blasters. I also spotted a Grease Gun blaster pistol in one of those Pirates' hands as well as what I thought was a spectre smg blaster pistol. Any excuse to get new classic guns turned into Star Wars designs is nice. I loved how rogue one used the Luger, M60 and mp40 to make new guns, and how Solo even used an AS VAL rifle to make a carbine for the character named Val lol
It's 2020 here, Gun Jesus just released the Star Wars guns video! P.s. 2020 is gonna suck, you've been warned.
The real question is when Chauchat will become a heavy blaster in Mandalorian.
Really enjoyed Ian's more conversational tone in this video.
Star Wars loves taking old guns and adding decor to make them look futuristic.
Since the beginning, lol
(:
I still hope, Han Solos "Broomhandle-blaster" was a non-firing die-cast model..... 😱😁
@@paul-sparky-sparr4160 all real, time to cry together pal
Many people know of the Sterling E-11 and the stormtrooper heavy blaster being mostly unchanged MG-34 and MG-15 or a Lewis gun, also DL-44 being a C96 and BlasTech A-280 an STG44. When you do the star wars episode dont forget about the Jawa ion blaster being a massively cut down SMLE with the grenade launcher cup attached to the shortened barrel.
no .. but mabe some gun maker somwhere
could make a "modern" bergman n°1
I could make one out of foam if i have time to do so. Hard yes but not impossible.
@@Dimitri9511 ....... who said anything about a "prop" .??
Very cool video idea Ian! - I can’t wait to see the follow up with regard to the guns in the first three Star Wars movies
He's carrying a RDR2 era pistol, because he's a space cowboy.
Well, this a different timings, but I can live with 2 videos today.
that would be a great series to discuss the star wars prop guns. i would love to see the differences between the real ones and what the prop masters did to make them cooler
And the female bounty hunter in it wields a modified Nambu (the extended trigger guard version)
...... who?
This is extra cool because han solo's pistol is a 1890s mauser broomhandle, and the stormtroopers' blasters are sterling smgs. I love that they are honoring the prop pistols from the original movie. Great video as always Gun Jesus!
I knew it! I'm glad I wasn't seeing things. Cool choice for a SW pistol, looks the part.
You're talking about the one Chewie carries on the Death Star? I think it was an MG3
@@badgermcbadger1968 water cooled
I'm glad Star Wars is still doing the thing where they use real gun designs to make blasters. It's just a dream but I'd love to see Ian be able to get hands-on with some of the actual props from Star Wars to be able to better show what he's talking about.
in the new hope when you see sand troopers going to the falcon, the one on front is holding a T-21 blaster rifle aka a Lewis Gun
It's nice to know a modern series is going old-school with weapon props, I love identifying firearms used in sci-fi shows/movies. :D
Seems Ian was on reddit this morning
When I saw the Bergmann videos, my first thought was that it looked like something that should be in Star Wars. And now it is!
