It only goes to show how important a pack is for dogs and that they really need to be around others to thrive. I saw quite some dogs in my life that were kind of "bored" so much, that they became a boring personality. Then, when I had my own dog, I could tell how she went from "active" to "old and boring" when we didn't have enough time to spend with her, but once I rectified that, she immediatelly got active again, even in high age. The same applied for the dog of my mom, a dog that knows me from her puppy days, and when I start activating her by mimicing dog-language playfullness, she runs and jumps around, while my mom goes like: "She never does that". And I tell her, yeah mom, cause she is bored. Activitey keeps us fresh. It goes for humans as well. Routine and non changing environments are bad for the soul.
Precisely, pets need enrichment, otherwise they adopt unnatural behaviors and can be quite depressed. Animals are much more emotional than we give them credit for.
Huskies are really pack animals. I had one and a German shepherd we got both dogs around the same time and the German shepherd was the alpha dog of the pack. When the German shepherd died the husky was always depressed on his corner and would barely eat or interact with my family Them we got a new puppy and the husky got young again! Then when the husky died after an4 years or so the labrador we got didn't really change her behaviour.
Its makes me sad when I see people and animals have their bodies go old before their minds, they don't really feel different but their bodies are different and they become more invisible to the world
Better that than watching their minds go first. Ever known someone for decades and then have them look at you and have no idea who you are? Or where they are? Or who they are? Or anything you've just said to each other at any given point? They're mind gradually drifts out of reality and their body just waits to die. It's awful. It also sucks to be fully cognitive and aware that you're old, too! Pretty much just sucks all around.
Yep, I understand that firsthand. I have a rare disease that basically makes your muscles & joints rapidly deteriorate from age 20-30 so ten years ago I felt like I was mid-40’s & now (even though I’m 29) I’m about 85 in joint/body years & can barely walk. My mind just really wants to fully embrace life but not my body & it’s really saddening.
Everytime they meet it reminds me of that video of those two little boys that met back up after time apart and they run and full on adorably attack-hug each other. 😁😂💜
That's funny because for Huskies, that howling and grunting is very normal for them as the breed is very vocal. But for most other dog breeds, it's like a distress signal.
It’s really great of you and Jodie to keep this friendship going for them all these years especially since you live 2 hours away. Their behavior every single time shows you how grateful they are.

I even helped her fetch and play with her stick, holding her back end up in her sling.)

The difference between when Sherpa is around Key compared to Nook is noticeable! With Nook it's all very calm, almost civilised whereas with Key it's more like "We're huskies, come on let's go!"
I call my dog "oude doos" wich means old box... than she gives me a look sideways like "don't know what you talk about... ate you talking about yourself????
When I moved with my girlfriend and my dog, we specifically moved 10 minutes away just so our dog can hangout with my parents dog all the time still. My parents dog is 12 and every time I bring over my dog she turns into a puppy again

And I tell her, yeah mom, cause she is bored. Activitey keeps us fresh. It goes for humans as well. Routine and non changing environments are bad for the soul.
Wow! That's what reports say about the lockdowns.
Very wise observation, my dear fellow!
When the German shepherd died the husky was always depressed on his corner and would barely eat or interact with my family
Them we got a new puppy and the husky got young again!
Then when the husky died after an4 years or so the labrador we got didn't really change her behaviour.
Sherpa will always be a puppy at heart. Their friendship is a special one
@@0m3gaph03nix life is suffering as buddhists say
@@0m3gaph03nix Exactly! I was coming down to say this! Getting old sucks, but it beats the alternative.
@@Trymr I'm sorry to hear that.

When Sherp started howling as he realizes where he’s going, that was the cutest thing ever
Your dog made my German Shepherd go absolutely crazy. He was very worried about him, and all the talking he was doing.
@ HerbiFTW- 🤣😂😂🤭
That's funny because for Huskies, that howling and grunting is very normal for them as the breed is very vocal. But for most other dog breeds, it's like a distress signal.
I have a German Shepherd too! His name is Roscoe and he is 140 pounds. What about yours? :D

And I am never not fascinated by Sherp's deep growl. Sounds a lot like a king of the jungle!
Yes Sherpa's growl is so deep and could be scary if we didn't know him. I call it 'happy talk'.

Amazing how the facial expression changed and the eyes lit up so fast when he knew where he was going.

Never gets boring seeing these 2 reunited again. Though I bet Jodie's neighbours would more than likely disagree.
I would open the curtain to watch, what are you talking about LOL
It’s really great of you and Jodie to keep this friendship going for them all these years especially since you live 2 hours away. Their behavior every single time shows you how grateful they are.

His teeth are in phenomenal shape, especially for an old dog. It’s nice when you see dog owners who care for and love their pets.

The real way to look younger was the friends we made along the way.
Good people you can talk to and trust.

I noticed that his color gets darker when playing with Key. Jamie took him to see the Life With Malamutes channel family. He really went younger and darker while playing with those dogs. I hope Jamie takes him back for another visit.
The fact you acknowledge their friendship is so heartwarming :)
And they drive two hours just so they can play 😊

The difference between when Sherpa is around Key compared to Nook is noticeable! With Nook it's all very calm, almost civilised whereas with Key it's more like "We're huskies, come on let's go!"

Hello 👋 Susannah
How are you doing today
For those of us that have followed Sherp and Key over the years it's becoming more obvious that Sherp is slowing down a bit. His heart is still in the game but he seems to run out of gas a bit sooner of late. It's the nature of all thing I suppose. I do hope that Sherp enjoys the rest of his days, many more I hope, and I'll bet he stays a pup, always.
yeah, I have a dog getting to that point as well I am NOT looking forward to it at all. This will be my 3rd set I have had to go through this with it and it NEVER gets any easier
Hes not dying yet! Lol
@@Kingsman4101 Agreed. I feel like a part of me is gone. But take these golden years to tell them Thank You every day for being your beloved. Hands down the best friendship ever recorded on UA-cam.
You can tell that Sherpa did not want the day to end. He is so sweet!
Driving 2 hours for an old boy to be a pupper again..to see his bestie? THAT, sir, is LOVE. All that love between you and Sherps and Key is just BEAUTIFUL!!! Treasure every moment like the most precious gem ever known, and spend each day in the sunshine, basking in your love for each other.
It’s so cool that they have such different coat colors, Sherpa having such a warm brown and his bests friend having a much bluer looking coat.
My old boy Roger is approaching the end of his time, but riddled with arthritis as he is, sometimes he still dances for joy. Old dogs are the best dogs.
