Brent and Bruce - I think this video just became the online Pre-Combat Check (PCC) video for every new Warrior headed to One Shepherd! This is how it’s done. PCC on the tarp. Spot on. Not only because the information is incredibly accurate about One Shepherd tactical operations, but also because your think-aloud assumptions are incredibly informed. While a Pre-Combat Inspection (PCI) is conducted by patrol leaders on the team’s gear prior to stepping off for the mission, the PCC is conducted by each individual Warrior on their own gear, and the best technique is for battle buddies to check each other prior to mission. This is a damned good example of think-aloud tacit cognition in preparation for an upcoming operation. It is our hope that every Warrior does this in the weeks prior to each training semester. For example, your assumption that you will pack heavy for life on the FOB at the Combat Maneuver Training Center (CMTC) in Missouri is spot on. During the first four days of training, most nights are spent on the FOB - although Warriors rotate to training lanes that may involve a bivouac overnight. However, the last three days of each semester is an FTX (FX) Simulation involving continuous-running tactical operations. Our Warriors and Warrior Leaders spend three days and two nights patrolling from hide position to ORP to patrol base. We live light out of our rucksacks, so we pack for the specific missions. That means you won’t take everything with you in the field, but you need it on hand at the FOB because the requirements of each mission are unique. In fact, One Shepherd predicates the FTX Simulation on the specific courses taught immediately prior in the STX Seminar. This means there are six unique FTX Simulations that rotate over a three-year period. So even if you don’t need a piece of equipment for this FTX, you might very well need it for the next one…or the one after that. Pack heavy to the FOB. Pack light to the mission. Also, be advised that One Shepherd issues the teams platoon and squad radios, field phones, wire spool, night vision, spare batteries, MRE, ammunition, smoke canister, and parachute flares depending on the needs of each mission. So Warriors need to be prepared to hump squad gear, too. Good stuff! Damned good stuff. That Nesbit stove was a lifesaver for coffee on Day 2 of the FTX. (Thanks much.) And I love the fact that you guys hump spaghetti straps! HOO-AH! Christopher Larsen
Chris thank you once again! I know I speak for both Bruce and I when I say we absolutely had a blast up there training with you guys. I've got some very quality footage of our trip up there as well. Additionally the face painting footage looks excellent! I look to publish the face painting video some time probably next week. Thank you for the kind words, the support staff you guys have on hand up there is first rate. Semper Fidelis-Brent
Average Lad - Very sorry to respond so late. I didn't see your question buried here. My bad. Short Answer: Yes. Our vision for One Shepherd goes to 2030 and beyond. Long Answer: Judge an organization by its past. One Shepherd began in 1981 and is now completing its 37th year with the fall semester at the end of this month, September 23~29 2018. Everything suggests that One Shepherd will continue for the next 10 or 20 years and beyond. This year we've begun to discuss land options with multiple private training organizations along the Mid-Atlantic States to stand up Bravo Company, One Shepherd by 2019 or 2020. Afterwards, One Shepherd Regiment intends to stand up Charlie Company somewhere in the Southwest States by 2025. So, that's the mid-term vision for the Regiment.
Jordan - Agreed! Look, there is no such thing as "universal camouflage." Period. Yet, I'll argue that olive drab green (ODG) comes pretty close within the vast majority of operational environments. The weakness of ODG is that it is too solid and as such does not mimic any particular environment. When the human eye focuses directly upon an ODG uniform, it stands out. It's relatively easy to pick out. Still, the strength of the ODG uniform is that it blends into the environment as "background noise" and when the ODG pattern is observed with the rods of the human eye, it is nearly impossible to detect! The warrior must create movement so that the human eye can detect first, and only then use the rods of the human eye to discern greater detail. Well, that...plus ODG just looks clean and professional.
Brent: Being a Marine you have more knowledge than most about moving from point A to point B with kit and a firearm. There are many videos with kit and a gun but FEW to NONE about adding a gun to your bug out or get home kit! I and MANY others would absolutely love to see a "regular guy" get home kit with a rifle caliber pistol or carbine. A video that shows it from out of the vehicle to humping your way home, using the gear and supporting the gun and keeping it running!
Still love my 782 gear! The ALICE frames always sucked for me (I get your mission requirements) though. Recently picked up a Norwegian mountain ruck with the most comfortable steel tube frame I've ever used. Awesome pouch placement and two axe/rifle pockets. Excellent old school pack.
I can't post a link but I bought mine from a Finnish military surplus store. You can find it at varusteleka.com. Make sure to change it to English and the shipping to the U.S. in the upper right corner. 9.99 shipping to the U.S. One more thing. It has no waist belt. Easily fixed with an ALICE waist belt. I picked up a MOLLE replacement belt from AMAZON.
Bruce@CampArmament no prob! It's a great store and their website is funny! Lots of good stuff that is a bit hard to find in the U.S. Brent0331, I have the same map reading pouch, nice little bit of kit. Your hygiene bag looks oddly like mine, along with my shoeshine bag. Semper Fi!
A really interesting presentation.... thanks. It's obvious that you have a lot of field time under your belt... and that's why I like your channel.. It's interesting to see what you take..... would would be good us a lessons learned video to follow this one.... What you would change and what you got right...... that sort of thing. I know that I would prep and pack my gear differently. But that's the joy of it we all do things differently and we can learn from that... I am glad to see you incperating Brittish gear into your kit.. We have some great field gwar
Thanks man, Bruce and I had talked about doing just that, some sort of debrief on the gear. But we kinda got side tracked and both thought that we actually did a pretty good job in packing for the training, so we never ended up doing the video. I think our actual "debrief" for this video will be if Bruce and I go back to One Shepherd for their fall semester. We will definitely do another video like this talking about our last experience and what we'll need / be taking again.
Hey brent loved this and all your videos. I was just wondering how you packed your gear? I run a similar loadout minus weapons for my hiking/camping/bob and i'm always looking to improve it. b.t.w alice packs are the best.
Brent and Bruce as Opfor? They'll never see you coming! Good luck gents and I hope you have a absolute blast - thanks for the prep vid, great content as always! Give em some Old Schooling!
Thanks brother. We just got back, and it was a great training experience! The gear we put together was pretty spot on. Some things we ended up not needing/taking to the field but for the most part, most of the stuff we brought we used.
This is the kind of PCC/PCI layout I do with my soldiers. They hate me for it. But seriously. When you overlook the small stuff and get out into the field it's worth it to not hear them bitch about not having the little shit they overlooked. Great video! And a lot of good information on the gear.
Great vid. looking forward to the AAR vid. Have fun and be safe. I'm curious about that Canadian rain gear. did you buy it online or locally? Ms Clean cleaning kit. That sounds like a piece of kit I might need to add.
No poncho, candle/tealight/aluminium foil, extra on person toothbrush, picks/auto jiggeler, small zip ties? The german military has btw the same e-tool as you have. When you buy this stuff private get a genue one, had to use one once which broke on me really fast. Make sure you don`t wear it on your lbe (as the german one is intended). There is a real danger to hurt your back and get paralysed. As far as the german sleeping mat goes i didn`t like it except to sit on it or as back protection in the bergen. Might be the different climate but had other issues with it too. Can you guys recomend different storage boxes? Here in europe it`s hard to get sturdy, affordable ones for a good price. The more stuff you get the more you have to store somewhere and sometimes transport. Still a big fan.
About using the chest rig to supplement your web gear ammo...I'll admit that I actually did that when I first got into paintball. it worked pretty well considering the gear I was using then. I will say that it kinda suck you guys aren't using paintball tech or simunitions for this. that would rock.
Well see after I get done. I'll probably talk about it in my AAR on whether MILES or sims would have been better for the scenario. I will say though with sim rounds you have to wear a mask. Wearing a paintball mask for hrs on end on a patrol is not realistic, not practical, and will probably distract someone to the point that they do not have their head fully in the game.
Hey brent loved this and all your videos. I was just wondering how you packed your gear? I run a similar loadout minus weapons for my hiking/camping/bob and i'm always looking to improve it. b.t.w alice packs are the best.
Michael - I thought Brent and Bruce actually packed up their gear in this video. Huh. Maybe not...maybe I'm thinking of Brent's PCI Contest at the end of last year. Anyway, for specific instruction on packing up an ALICE rucksack be sure to check out One Shepherd's 9-minute instructional video "How to Pack a Rucksack" - ua-cam.com/video/_D_IDCKV5IM/v-deo.html
Hey Brent. Stupid question but we were always "told" we were not to have anything on our ALICE suspenders that would interfere with us throwing a ruck over the top of the suspenders. I totally get why you do it and often wanted to do the same thing. Do you have any issues when donning a ruck with the ruck straps hitting the knife on the ALICE suspenders? Thanks Brent. AWESOME channel and keep up the great work. I learn a lot from your vids.
Thanks man, I've never had an issue with it interfering. If you watch the actual video I posted following this one where we are at one shepherd, you will see me patrolling with this very set up.
I haven’t scrolled the entire comment section, so I’m not sure if you already answered the question- Brent, how does your Acog cowitness with the A2 front sight on your rifle?
NIce gear loadout, first time watcher of your channel, will sub. I realize you said its a 90% but i didnt see ANY ear protection, just wanted to point that out and im supprised non of the other commenters didnt mention it. Other thing id like to say is check out the Tactical Taylor super straps. Makes the ol Alice fit like a dream, but they are a bit pricy at about $120 .
Thanks man. We both took ear pro, but we didn't need it. With the BFAs on the rifles and Lake city issued blanks they use there, there's no need for it. We used the same thing in the U.S. Military, and we never use ear pro for blanks.
Yeah that was actually discussed in the MILES system orientation, the lake city blanks when used with mil-spec blank firing adapters are OSHA approved as hearing safe. Plus, there were nights it was so dark we were literally listening for the enemy as visibility was zero.
Me too, I'm thinking I should at least get some film. If not actual operational footage, maybe some training footage with the guys running I.A. drills or something.
Brent0331 that would be super cool.....maybe put a (go-pro) on your gear for some POV action. Hell I think we would be happy with whatever you do...have fun!!
Just a idea. It might be a little difficult but a video on the M-203 grenade launcher and it's many different types of ammo..maybe throw in the M-79 in as well....
Brent/Bruce: suggestions please. I currently run a USGI FLC woodland with USGI woodland molle pouches. To accommodate the ODG Kit, I was considering running another USGI FLC and molle pouches coyote and idye poly green to re color the coyote as close as possible to ODG. I have not seen an ODG FLC. Q#2: Is my old Ranger CFP woodland ruck ok for either uniform as my primary ruck and OPFOR or BLUFOR team colors. $ is a concern thus trying to stay w USGI surplus or Condor price ranges. Thanks for your feedback. - Matt/TX
Speaking of weapons + gear. Have you guys checked out the Texas co. STNGR?? Free float rails under $100 shipped?? They are kick ass + easy I stall too.
How do you attach a knife to a shoulder strap like that? I have a Becker BK seven and I'm having trouble mounting it to my gear. Great video guys. Have fun up there
Yes, that is the current Marine Corps issued WP bag. The newer one has an air release valve on it so you can suck out all the air. You can get it very tight and small. The only thing I dislike about it is its a lot narrower. The older Willy peter bag was like a big duffel bag and easy to pack and open up. I still typically use the older WP bag in the main compartment of my ruck.
I have a question, are all the participants required to bring all the gear that they need themselves or some of them will be provided by the organizers? I really want to participate in one shepherd but most likely not anytime soon. I have a uniform in the Olive Green color exactly like the ones that are used by the OPFOR, and I also have the woodland ones as well. I actually have most of the gears needed for this event but problem is I don't live in the US and it's pain in the butt to bring everything with me but I would like to attend one day if I had the chance.
We purchase the OD green uniforms through local and online retail stores. There are essentially two companies that manufacture this uniform here in the USA. Tactical Response Uniform (TRU) by Tru-Spec Battle Ripstop (65/35% Poly-Cotton) ACU-Style Olive Drab Green Tac-U by Propper Battle Ripstop (65/35% Poly-Cotton) ACU-Style Olive Drab Green
Christopher Larsen Thanks for the information. I have been looking to buy some uniforms and to put together some gear. Been retired almost 3 years from the Army and just wanted to be prepared.
Thank you for your service, brother! And by all means...let us know if you plan to head over to Missouri and train with One Shepherd. Yeah? You'll find a whole lot of like-minded Warriors in this community. Stay safe.
Christopher Larsen Thanks. I just purchased a M1A Scout Rifle. I have to get it zeroed yet. Going a little old school but wanting to set up a rig and gear to match it.
Chuck G - No. Brent is currently serving in the military. And One Shepherd is a leadership school that is open to any law-abiding civilian, as well as law enforcement and military personnel. State Guard are most definitely welcome! One Shepherd has included responsible Warriors from the chartered Missouri Militia as well as the Alabama State Guard. We've been consistently impressed with the responsiveness to training and accountability of behavior by these fine Warriors. One Shepherd is a plural, inclusive learning institution. Join us!
Jarhead Gaming - To join One Shepherd, one simply participates in the Warrior Basic Course. The WBC is offered the first 2 days of each 7-day semester. For example, for Training Year 2018 the spring semester runs from Sunday, 3 JUN thru Saturday, 9 JUN. The WBC is offered Sunday ~ Monday, 3~4 JUN. The fall semester next year runs from Suday, 23 SEP thru Saturday, 29 SEP. And the WBC is offered Sunday ~ Monday, 23~24 SEP. Cool? Once you participate in the WBC, that is the prerequisite to participate in all other training - Warrior Advanced Course, Land Navigation Course, Light Leaders Course, Mission Command Course, Leader Reflection Course, plus all six of the STX Seminars, and the 3-day FTX Simulations. You're gonna love it here. Join us.
Neither of our rifles are capable of mounting one. My AR has a civilian legal 16 in barrel which is longer than the standard M4 barrel. Although it has a bayonet lug it do not fit right due to the extra barrel length.
Ha! MILES bayonet...like a stun gun, right? That'd be fun! One Shepherd actually does conduct basic pugil (force-on-force rifle bayonet) training every other year. Pugil sticks and all. Hey...you gotta be able to carry the fight from 800m down to 0m.
Anti-Mason - Speaking in very general terms, One Shepherd adheres to the 2,000-year-old adage of 1/3 the Warrior's weight for total combat load. Our fighting load makes up roughly 2/3 of the combat load. A 30-year-old 6'2" male Warrior might weigh 210 pounds (95kg). His combat load should be no more than 70 pounds (32kg). His fighting load, once he drops his rucksack, should be no more than 45 pounds (21kg). This means his rucksack weighs right at about 25 pounds, ideally. A 15-year-old 5'10 male Warrior might weigh 150 pounds (68kg). His combat load should be no more than 50 pounds (23kg). His fighting load after he drops his rucksack should be no more than 33 pounds (15kg). This Warrior's rucksack would weigh about 17 pounds - but very often is closer to 25 pounds. Each Warrior adjusts his combat load. Many prefer to carry as much as they can within their battle rattle, and leave sustainment items only in their rucksack. Others prefer to carry light into battle, and opt to carry a heavier rucksack in order to keep their battle rattle as light as possible. So...in reality it depends on the weight of each Warrior, the demands of each mission, and often on personal preference.
Because It works, I use what I know works, not what I think might work....... I can go on and on about how the Marine Corps is swinging back towards gear that resembles old ALICE equipment but I'll sum it up with this. I looked at what I think were going to be doing up there and determined that an ALICE rig is most suited for my needs for this particular training evolution.
The Rothko Vietnam repro are garbage. Bought two sets for a weekend long Vietnam reenactment. Blew the crotch out on the first pair and zipper busted the next day, on the second set.
I think a '74 would be fine. HOWEVER, the issue I see with them allowing for that is every student there has to use their issued blanks. This is primarily for safety reasons. Maybe you could contact them as ask, but I would have to think that unless its an AK chambered in 5.56, your sol. But....who know's, there's exceptions to every rule in life.
Most likely I would be sol. I'll stick with AK 74 in 5.45x39. Magazines are another issue to. AK 74 mags are expensive (circle 10/21) to replace if lost.
Brent is correct. The MILES that One Shepherd maintains was designed specifically for the 5.56mm M200 blank cartridge. Using 30 caliber blanks caused a lot of expensive damage. Blanks are also a safety issue. One Shepherd has a fairly extensive safety protocol that has kept our Warriors safe from mishap for 36 years. All participants must use the US Army Lake City-manufactured M200 provided by One Shepherd. Now, that said, way back in the day we did have a few Warriors bring other military rifles chambered in 5.56mm - Ruger Mini-14, Daewoo K1 and K2, and yes, even a Kalashnikov AK100 series (5.56mm). It is feasible. However, for your first training with One Shepherd, come on out and beat up our rifles. You'll get to know the MILES system. You'll warm up to our grumpy S4 Logistics Officer, and the two of you can talk about the feasibility of non-AR15 series weapons chambered in 5.56mm. Cool?
BRENT NOOOOOOO!!!!! on the Canadian army jacket that thing isint water proof at all it is crappy. And I am speaking from experience!!!!!! I you have any time left change it out NOOOOOOOO. then new gortex is good that is the old stuff and it really sucks!!!!!! PLEASE! NOOOOOOOOOO!
YES I SWEAR TO YOU THAT IS QUITE POSSIBLY THE BIGGEST PEACE OF SHIT FOR KIT!!!!! in the field we would often just take them off when it was raining because we where just going to get soaked anyway whats the point in heating up and get soaked its not doing you any favors. as john says from Alpha charlie concepts you choose get wet from weather or get wet from sweat, In this case you get wet from both with that jacket!!!! SO NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! DON'T DO IT!!!! you will regret it so much!!! its also because the Canadian army when the made those jacket forgot one key thing to order the waterproofing compound with them that solders where supposed to apply before they got in the field so like 90% of those jackets are not waterproof at all. maybe you got lucky
lol, great. Well i'm not out that much money on it anyways. I'll still take it but I'll at least spray it down with waterproofing spray before I leave. Maybe it will help some. At this point I just needed something, if its that bad I'll quickly take it off and it will go back in the pack or in the garbage....what ever comes first. Thanks for the advise brother. I appreciate it.
Funny isn;t it?...when I was in...we used to BUY our own US rubberised rain jackets...they where WAY better than the Canadian issued garbage....as William said...you'd like as not end up soaked in them...usually due to sweating so bad...and the newbies that DID wear them?...you can hear them for miles....the noise was pathetic......find yourself an older 80's 90's OD rubberised US rain jacket..........lol
I've been listening to the 4 Star Army General who said if you sit in one area more then 3 to 4 hours your dead ! So Dam ! Your going to have to ditch a lot that shit if you have to bug Out ! I'm thinking you best have real Horse to ride out like a Cowboy ! There will no fuel . Horses will sought out Item there Texan !
I think I need some context before I could agree with that General's claim. I mean...potentially, yes, in a high intensity conflict with a peer military using CBRN assets. That was certainly the inspiration for the Pentomic Division structure of the 1950s, which ironically closely mirrors today's BCT structure for the GWOT. But yeah, I need context.
So, the story is, a buddy and I bought them from a soldier who was trying to sell them to a gunstore to get money for what appeared to be his 10 month pregnant wife. We bought them, for nearly nothing when the gunstore passed on them.

100% agreed! Thanks so much for the opportunity to experience some of what One Shepherd has to offer. Top notch training!
Brent0331 The face painting video is how I found you guys. Tons of info. Thanks for what you all are doing.
So will one Shepard still be around in the next 10 or 20 years?
Average Lad - Very sorry to respond so late. I didn't see your question buried here. My bad.

dude, i used to live in Missouri, when you go out, and you come back completely covered in ticks dont be surprised.
Great information. Thanks.
I think Olive Drab is such an underrated camo.

Plus the fact that when it starts to fade it gets lighter in color and it's not so bold.
Solid colors can be legit.
Good Luck have fun and going old school with ALICE packs and LBE brings back memories
Thanks man.

Greetings brother, thanks for watching and commenting.
Is Deutschland German for Germany? Sorry I'm trying to learn the language.
The average Lad hey im from Germany „ja ist es“ yes it is Deutschland = Germany
I like Bruce around he seems to be a nice addition to the channel.
I've informed Bruce of your man crush brother.
Brent0331
Haha lol. He seems like a cool guy is all.
I am flattered!
Dude, you always have AWESOME gear + weapon videos!!!

Definitely going to sign up for this. This video gives me a good idea of what gear i should have. Thanks for this man.
Glad I could help. Looking at going back in the fall.
Weather is going to be nice this week. Lowest temp is 50 degrees at night.
Great video guys.....look forward to hearing how your trip goes.
Good luck....

Awesome gear guys. Happy training.
Thanks
Great educational video. First aid is interesting to me.
Brent where you you get the little bungee cords that have a million uses?
"In case you feet start turing into vaginas" Hahahahah I love it Brent, great video.
Bruce I saw your can's also your gun cleaning kit, do you add anything to stop the rattling ?
Sorry im late seeing this comment. The gun cleaning kit packs tight with the bore patches...I have a cloth rag inside the can to keep it quiet.
Bruce, remember. Short people generally live longer!!
Great vid. looking forward to the AAR vid. Have fun and be safe. I'm curious about that Canadian rain gear. did you buy it online or locally? Ms Clean cleaning kit. That sounds like a piece of kit I might need to add.
I love the green Gold Bond (Halls for your Balls)!!!
Yup!
Im really Digging the old school gear
Thanks for another great vid. Have a great time at training.
Appreciate it man.
Most excellent!
Thanks brother.
Perhaps consider adding a Leatherman or Gerber multi tool for weapons maintenance or general utility
Great video, thanks for the memories
Thanks for watching.
Excellent! I watched the video and see what you mean. Thanks again! Great channel!!!!!
Don't sweat being a small dude Bruce. Just means you can use Brent and everyone else for cover and concealment! #DownCadaProductions
lol, how do you know about D/C productions, who are you!?!?!
Why do you always get triggered when I bring up the DCP? lol
Fuck yeah!! Hope you can film while your there....would love to see your experience there.
Me too, I'm thinking I should at least get some film. If not actual operational footage, maybe some training footage with the guys running I.A. drills or something.
Brent0331 that would be super cool.....maybe put a (go-pro) on your gear for some POV action.
Hell I think we would be happy with whatever you do...have fun!!
man i was definitely gonna sign up but my visa interview date was too late, freaking shame
Cool, I'll check them out.
I will too.
How do you attach a knife to a shoulder strap like that? I have a Becker BK seven and I'm having trouble mounting it to my gear. Great video guys. Have fun up there
550 Cord
and thanks.
Brent, what's the bag you're using to compress your sleep gear? Wily peter?
Yes, that is the current Marine Corps issued WP bag. The newer one has an air release valve on it so you can suck out all the air. You can get it very tight and small. The only thing I dislike about it is its a lot narrower. The older Willy peter bag was like a big duffel bag and easy to pack and open up. I still typically use the older WP bag in the main compartment of my ruck.
Thanks for this video.
Have a BLAST Gents!
Thanks
What is the brand name of the foot lockers you guys have? Also where did you get them and how much did they cost?
They are Hardigg brand cases. I bought them off an Army guy liquidating some surplus gear. I got a deal so good i couldnt pass it up.
Bruce@CampArmament : Thanks for the info.
Good video
Thanks brother.
Great video, Fellas! What brand is the machete?
Cold Steel.
Brent0331 Mahalo(Thanks)
Hey Brent! What make is that rifle, if you dont mind??
Ty
Do you have a dog tag wieved through your boot?
Yes, left boot, that is a uniform standard for all Marine grunts.
Can't go wrong with Allison gear Old School still works
Yup, I concur. May not be the sexiest but its very utilitarian.
Contact them, they do have loaner gear.
@@Brent0331 thx for the answer
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻super!
Question. Where did you guys get the OD green uniforms?
We purchase the OD green uniforms through local and online retail stores. There are essentially two companies that manufacture this uniform here in the USA.
Tactical Response Uniform (TRU)
by Tru-Spec
Battle Ripstop (65/35% Poly-Cotton) ACU-Style
Olive Drab Green
Tac-U
by Propper
Battle Ripstop (65/35% Poly-Cotton) ACU-Style
Olive Drab Green
Christopher Larsen Thanks for the information. I have been looking to buy some uniforms and to put together some gear. Been retired almost 3 years from the Army and just wanted to be prepared.
Thank you for your service, brother!
And by all means...let us know if you plan to head over to Missouri and train with One Shepherd. Yeah? You'll find a whole lot of like-minded Warriors in this community. Stay safe.
Christopher Larsen Thanks. I just purchased a M1A Scout Rifle. I have to get it zeroed yet. Going a little old school but wanting to set up a rig and gear to match it.
you know we have this on Texas?
J uice where?
Brent0331/Bruce...do the training facility have gear to purchase,or do I need to get the equipment and bring to the facility?
They have rental gear but you have to contact them. First come first serve.
Congrats. :)
Does anyone have a link to the uniforms? I don't wanna get the wrong ones.
Go here to help you. You'll want to shop around because you can find some great deals on Ebay. www.1shepherd.com/uniform3.html
Are you guys part of the Texas State Guard?
No
Chuck G - No.
Join us!
i know this is an old video but can you suggest places to buy good quality ALICE pack/frame/LBE etc, i'm not finding much luck
Sportsmansguide
Great video dude!
Thanks
Brent what’s the the front grip you’re running on your AR platform?
+RNAv8or1 Grip pod
How do you wear standard issue cotton socks? That has to really fuck up your feet
How long are there classes ?
have you guys checked out TSM Vanguard?
i just googled it. nothing came up.
What are those trunks?
Where did you get the woodland H suspenders ?
I dont remember, maybe Ebay.
How does one join
Join us.
How much does it weigh ??
No bayonets?
Neither of our rifles are capable of mounting one. My AR has a civilian legal 16 in barrel which is longer than the standard M4 barrel. Although it has a bayonet lug it do not fit right due to the extra barrel length.
Ha! MILES bayonet...like a stun gun, right? That'd be fun!
One Shepherd actually does conduct basic pugil (force-on-force rifle bayonet) training every other year. Pugil sticks and all. Hey...you gotta be able to carry the fight from 800m down to 0m.
Are you british?
(Bruce)
Definitely not
What is the weight of the packs?
Can't really give you a solid answer on that, its going to be mission dependent.
We just got back tonight, Bruce made a comment about weighing his ruck with everything he took to the field once he gets home. We'll see...
Shaving cream but no bar soap???
90% solution.
What kind of uniform is it
connor paulson olive drab
Start getting your US manual on Horses ! The Real Cav ! Horses just need Grass and no gas Stations .
What butt pa k are you using Bruce?
Its custom, I designed it and had it sewn by a stitch-bitch. But it is very similar to the Vietnam era buttpacks.
What is with the huggies baby wipes.
That is the most effective tool in the filed in removing shit from ass ha!
why do you run so old gear
Because It works, I use what I know works, not what I think might work....... I can go on and on about how the Marine Corps is swinging back towards gear that resembles old ALICE equipment but I'll sum it up with this. I looked at what I think were going to be doing up there and determined that an ALICE rig is most suited for my needs for this particular training evolution.
Brent0331 ok but new gear has better materials
Get a sock for the mic.
The Rothko Vietnam repro are garbage. Bought two sets for a weekend long Vietnam reenactment. Blew the crotch out on the first pair and zipper busted the next day, on the second set.
No provision for AK style rifles! :(
I asked about that when I was there. They use to use them for OPFOR but they were just too hard on the MILES gear.
Even the AK74 with the 5.45x39? I could understand not using the AK47 within that "too hard on Miles gear" issue.
Cool?
Not quite SAS 🇬🇧
BRENT NOOOOOOO!!!!! on the Canadian army jacket that thing isint water proof at all it is crappy. And I am speaking from experience!!!!!! I you have any time left change it out NOOOOOOOO. then new gortex is good that is the old stuff and it really sucks!!!!!! PLEASE! NOOOOOOOOOO!
Lmao, that bad huh?
No problem always try to help out when and where I can! Thanks for the great videos keep them coming!
But yeah, I need context.
complicated laser tag
Figure I needed to pamper you Marines...LOL
@ 7:50 what buttpack is that?
Its custom, I designed it and had a builder make it for me
The "gurka machete" is called a kukri
Too much weight to cover very many miles..........
Lol now you can prepare for the civil war that will never happen REEEEEEEE
Hey there can i ask where you got your big military storage boxes in the beginning of video?
The Stoned Videogame Nerd thank you sir
I'll have to default to Bruce on this, both of those cases belong to him.
Brent0331 appreciate the response. Will definitely ask Bruce as well on his channel. Thank you!
So, the story is, a buddy and I bought them from a soldier who was trying to sell them to a gunstore to get money for what appeared to be his 10 month pregnant wife. We bought them, for nearly nothing when the gunstore passed on them.
Sportsman's Guide, Colemans, and any surplus store outside a large installation is worth looking into.
