Hey Brent, not being facetious brother, serious question: One Shepherd got any future plans to mandate pokey in order to attend your courses? Honestly just curious.
SWEET BABY JESUS - YES! Brent, you have no idea how often I have to write a lengthy email to explain this to newcomers. (I'm talking to two through email TODAY!) This has instantly become my email response ... "Have you tried turning it off and on again? No? Well, watch Brent's video." DONE. Thank you!
@@newdefsys - You bet! We have set a goal of Charlie Company (CCO) kicking off training in the western states by 2026. We're open to various locations, but right now the southwest is appealing - particularly the region around Las Vegas, NV and St. George, UT and Kingman, AZ. But of course, no decision has been made yet. Still, we're planning! The regiment wants a CCO.
The reason Alice Pack prices are going up are because of Supply and Demand. Supply: there’s only so many Alice Packs in surplus because we don’t make them anymore Demand: If Brent says you should get it, you bet your ass everyone is gonna get it.
Five star gear makes some very reasonably priced and faithful reproductions of the large, medium and Alice pack frames. I have their large polypropylene version that is more water resistant and a surplus nylon medium Alice and other than the difference in size and materials the are both made very well. Definitely comparable.
Brent as an old Marine (1969 t9 1973 ) I was out for 8 years went back in the M.C. Reserves witch was a Grunt unit first time I went to the field I wore Flea and Tick collars around my ankles and wrist guess who came back with no ticks on them they thought I was nuts but I did have the last laugh. Thanks for the Video I always like to see videos on gear, and how it's used
One Shepard looks like an outstanding experience. I've been interested in attending since you first made me aware of it. Better stop talking about it, and start doing it I guess.
Highly recommend a tarp in addition to your bivvy or sleep system. Harbor freight sells them in woodland for like 10 dollars. And they don't weigh anything when folded up and dry. I use it as a 'pull in case of an emergency' when things get really wet, if your bivvy springs a leak or if you want some additional area protection under area defenses that need to be kept dry/has electronic equipment like radios etc. They can also function as thermal concealment if kept a foot or two above/away from skin/heat sources. also highly recommend a waterproof gortex lined boot with stitched down soles. Stream and creek crossing is very common. You can avoid distractions like that by keeping dry.
Interested in joining One Shepherd Leadership Institute? FOR PLANNING PURPOSES... Next year, 2022, One Shepherd will offer four semesters - that's two with Alpha Company in Missouri, plus two more with Bravo Company in West Virginia. The exact dates will not be confirmed until registration opens on Saturday, 8 January 2022. However, for planning purposes the One Shepherd training year should look something very similar to this... Late April - Bravo Company in WV Early June - Alpha Company in MO Late September - Bravo Company in WV Late October - Alpha Company in MO
@@AverageJoe311 - Not this year. It is an exception to the norm because this year is One Shepherd's 40th year of service. So, the fall semester is not ACO or BCO...but instead the fall semester is for the entire One Shepherd Regiment.
Understood. That will give me more time to prep for next year. Very much looking forward to it. I did not learn about One Shepherd until this video, very glad I watched. Happy Anniversary and see you next year!!
Only POGs call it that, or used to, even Marines call then woobies now, fucking new generation morons. I got out in 2012, joined in 04 and it was a different Army than when I joined
@@Brent0331 Didnt make any difference to me I called it by both names at one time or another as my time moved through 3 decades. All I remember most as it worked LOL Lots of folks take offense at being called a POG, I don't I was 11E,19E,19D then 13F Simple put I was not a grunt.. As 13F My team was attached to various units 82nd. Everyone out there needs to be proud of what they did
Great video Brent, wish it was around before my first visit, I wouldn’t have had to bug Chris as much lol. The Crossfire DG3 is an awesome ruck. I got one on sale and used your coupon code. It was cheap. If you go that route make sure you rig it as a short back. I would highly recommend two pairs of boots. During Warrior basic I got my feet soaked war gaming in the creek. A week of wet feet would have sucked. You didn’t mention blousing. I would suggest either the bands or the velcro bands. They make it super easier and look squared away.
Almost all my tactical gear is multicam lol. SHITE. Great video, this combined with the amount of links you provided in the description is a whole lot of work, much appreciated sir.
As usual your video was very clear, and concise. Now the elephant in the room question. How fit do people have to be attend the elementary course ? As a benchmark. How much weight should you be able to carry in the rucksack, distance, and endurance wise ? Also how people build up for it. As an example I saw a neighbour mowing his back garden while wearing his old large style Alice rucksack, as he says getting ready the Event !
Short answer: Be physically able to stand for periods up to 8 hours; walk up to 2 miles over uneven terrain in conditions of darkness carrying fighting gear and rucksack weighing 60 pounds; sleep on the ground for multiple days/nights in a row; sprint in short bursts; plus quickly transition from standing to prone, and from prone to standing. If you can do these things, you will do fine in One Shepherd training. What exercises help condition Warriors for our training? The standard stuff - push-ups, pull-ups, basic squats, mountain climbers, burpees, and - WALK! You don't even have to walk with weight. Just walk. If you can add a little weight and increase the pace of your walk (e.g. decrease time) that's excellent physical conditioning. One Shepherd has had 60-year-old Warriors fully capable and immersed in our training. Yes, they are in good shape. But they are not marathon runners or professional athletes. They're just in reasonably good shape. You can do it. One Shepherd is not a school of "attrition." We make every effort to keep our Warriors IN the training, to keep learning.
@@christopherlarsen7788 Would a person who is partially disabled but otherwise physically fit be able to attend? I sustained a severe injury to my right arm as well as my right hand and it has limited functionality. I can carry a fighting load and I can still operate a rifle. My legs are fine it just takes me a little longer to lace my boots and any hand signals that require two hands may be a problem.
@@d.o.p.echart9483 - You tell me. From what you've said here, it sounds like you'll do fine at One Shepherd! But I'm not a medical professional, and frankly, I'll leave it up to you to decide. If you can work a rifle, carry a rucksack, and walk across uneven terrain in day or night conditions, I'd say you'll do just fine. Every Warrior must know their limits. Okay?
Good place to check guys is yard sales, flea markets, free piles, gun shows, salvation army, etc. Some of the best gear/uniforms have been at flea markets. Full m81 goretex top and bottoms $50 unissued in original packaging.
I love how much america gets into the military life style. You cant wake up one day and know every thing but you can train your entire life like most of our boys do
Thanks, I’ve been really thinking of doing a one shepherd semester, gonna for sure do it now though after a friend of mine did it and said it was real fun
GREAT FORMAT AND GEAR INTELL. FROM AN X INFANTRY ARMY SSG SUPPLY MGR. AND ALSO DENTAL SURGICAL SPECIAL DENTAL OPS....................I REALLY ENJOYED YOUR KNOWLEDGE, TERMS AND FUN THING TOO. THANK YOU BREN.........SALUTE.
About skivvies (underwear) - I would recommend against wearing nylon and polyester soo close to your "friendlies". Instead, look for flame resistant (FR) clothing such as USMC F.R.O.G. (Flame Resistant Organizational Gear), US Army F.R.E.E. (Fire Resistant Environmental Ensemble), or commercial FR clothing such as XGO. I've done 10 milers in 90 degree temps without chaffing while wearing XGO, or the Army boxer briefs. They dry faster, and don't sag like cotton. Also, try to get uniforms made from 50/50 NYCO if you can afford them. They are no melt, no drip when exposed to flame.
You aren't lying about different OD Green variants. I have yet to find a matching set of trousers from TRU-SPEC to match their ACP Jacket within their own company.
Try the uk cold weather jacket and pants on ebay. They are basically a snugpack sleeka jacket+pants. That`s basically a sleeping bag you can wear while doing things. They come oversized so you can wear them over your other stuff. If you want to wear it under your stuff i`d take a size smaller.
Brent, I have the TRU-SPEC TRU trousers in OD and in Digital Woodland. My jackets are the BDU cut. I guess I have to get two new trousers and jackets in M-81 Woodland and one set in OD. I have the ALICE LBE rig with Y suspenders and am M-61 Field Pack (BUTT PACK), two M-16 magazine pouches, two Compass/ First Aid Pouches (one with a Lensatic Compass and the other with a compression bandage,) my US Army KaBar, an Arctic Canteen Carrier with Canteen (1 qt,) Cup, Canteen Stove, a USGI fork and spoon and second ALICE or M-56 Canteen Carrier with Canteen and Cup. The Butt Pack has 550 cord, spare socks, a tee shirt, a water filter inside and my dad's Vietnam Era poncho outside.
I also have my ALICE Medium Pack with frame from my time in the Guard. In it I usually pack spare socks, spare uniform, spare underwear, rations, a Stanely Camp Cooker, my sewing kit, my hygiene kit, and on the outside I have my tri-fold e-tool and carrier, two more 1 qt canteens with carriers and cups, my sleeping bag, sleeping mat and tarp (wrapped around the sleeping mat.)
Looking to forward to starting the pipeline as a New Warrior asap, I've started gathering uniform and emailed the S5... Looking for as much info as I can bcuz I want to run the whole pipeline not just a semester or 2. Really hope things allow me to start soon
Great video and thanks for the info. I was skimming through the comments and didn't see this question asked. Can our battle rattle be dyed or painted green? So that someone doesn't have to buy all new gear. Again, thanks for all your efforts. Oorah!
Too bad you cant use multicam gear because I have a ton of that. My other Vietnam OD green gear I only display for my collection. Also I have a bunch of prc-77s, prc-25s, prc-9s, prc-6s, an rt524 & r442 and a bunch of power supplies, antenna towers and other rto gear that all work. This would be a blast to use everything at. Looks like a lot of fun.
I hate to ask such a novice question, but how do you wear your web/782 gear with a alice style ruck? More specifically where does the belt ride in relation to your hips for the alice frame to clear your buttpack? Do you leave it at the same height when you aren't carrying the ruck?
I really wish that there were multicam classes... I know that there are plenty of us out there with multicam (thanks supply) that would love these courses.
The two uniforms are required for force on force training. I see Multicam probably replacing the woodland pattern in the far future when people stop making woodland utilities but not any time soon. Training is more important then the color of uniform or gear. I recommend this investment to everyone. 1S is more of a college then it is a training class.
I subscribed to your Channel because of something you said real early in this video, I was always taught that they were trousers and not pants, I do come from a military family. Thanks for this video.. Wish I had the able body to participate, most of my friends call me Forrest & that's okay, I still like going out hunting. *Edited here* @35:03 - I only have one question, I live in the middle of the desert amongst the volcanic rocks grab and olive green would stick out like a turd in a punch bowl, do you have any recommendation?
@@historyandhorseplaying7374 No sir No shame. I just spend alot of time out moving around. To get out a Bike is alot easier on your frame work.My last Mil job was 13Foxtrot
Brent? How many pieces of actual uniforms do you own, brother? Not calling you out, but I’m betting almost every brother who watches these as much as I do wants to know. Are you closing in on a collection to give that Dragon guy in Colorado a run for his money? Much love man 👊🏼💥
Hey Brent. I was wondering. Is there any way a less than mobile disabled person could take the courses and be in an effective role? I've been considering taking some courses with One Shepherd (if I could find a course that's not sold out lol) but would like to make sure that I could be an asset to the classes even though I'm disabled.
I would contact them via email and speak with the CO's of the respective company (A Co - in MO and B Co in WV). They'll be able to best assist you with determining that man.
Question about the ACU tops: I’ve been having trouble finding OD green tops with the Velcro in the name tape position. Is that a deal breaker, or can I just have them sown on like we did back when we were issued BDUs? Thanks!
Awesome, not that difficult, you will have stuff like this if you are into this sort of thing. I kept putting off going to this for year after year and the years went by and chaos only grew. Now I have a lot of the stuff I need, barring most of the tougher stuff to get as I need to look to European equivalents so to speak. I still hope to attend one day, when chaos is less powerful and I can afford to fly across the planet. And when I overcome that fear. (Yeah, make fun of me then.)
Hey Brent or Bruce, through the years i've purchased several mil packs,i guess what i want to ask you guys is what are your thoughts about the ILBE GEN.2 ??? Again another great vid & loaded with great info...ThanX !!!
I know that there a probably dozens and dozens of pt workout videos, and how to videos, but are there any that you would recommend, or tips that you would recommend? I need to get back to fighting shape.
@Brent0331, Does the rubber interior of the ALICE liner degrade over time like in some of the used ones due to the nature of the material or because of rubbing against items? I'm debating between it and the USMC liner.
Are civilian sleeping bags okay for sleep systems for those unlucky tall people, honestly I've never seen them used in the One Shepard videos you've posted. Do you have a tip for capacity for selecting packs, I know you've used ALICE MED/LARGE packs and the Crossfire is 110. Any thoughts on the Molle 2 Packs that have become cheaper and have more available accessories? Suggestions for comparing surplus bags from foreign militaries, what features, and capacity to look for?
I finally needed my cold weather bag at my last training. Discovered I'm a couple inches too tall. Maybe I'll find a tall bag but in the mean time, I'll just take an extra poncho liner and maybe a blanket because the bivey is pretty good on its own.
Was told by staff in terms of the bottoms that combat bottoms are acceptable as well, but you've always harped on BDU or ACU style trousers. I don't want to show up in crye and get sent away!
No one will send you away, especially on your 1st semester. Everyone wears ACU cut or BDU style trousers. That's all I've ever seen there and is what it says on the website as well under uniform requirements. If you got the green light that combat style pants are good to go then what's your worry?
@@Brent0331 Just noticing literally no one else seems to wear them, but I've spent too much time in the field getting my knees torn up with conventional kneepads to really desire rolling out without integrated knee setups, just being modern. But I'd probably just pack an extra pair and keep the field pants on for uniformity until it's go time anyways.
I’m having a really tough time finding a uniform in woodland that has the correct ACU cut. Could someone point out a couple companies that would fit within regs??
Brent0331, How much is the course and where are you located? I have a multicam uniform and my boots are in multicam even the soles are multicam. The pack that I've got is the Eberlestock G4 Operator pack in multicam.
I am probably not old enough yet but I already have all of this stuff because I play airsoft and I was just wondering if there is a training institute in Ohio
Hi, I've got a bunch of kit that I would definitely part with. Do you ever have trade tables at training events? Sorry, I'm not trying to be a dick, but no inquiry pm's please.
Hello, sir. I am the Commandant of the One Shepherd Regiment. One Shepherd has in past years held Joint FTX with Marine Platoon (Naval ROTC) as well as AFROTC units from the University of Missouri. They were remarkably successful! Yet, we stopped doing that because ROTC Command showed steadily increasing reluctance to risk injury of a cadet or midshipman. In part, I understand this. However, we never had an injury of a cadet or midshipman in the six years we conducted Joint FTX, from 2006 until 2011. I believe, but cannot prove, that the other major hurdle for ROTC Command was the cost. No one disputed that the cost of attending a One Shepherd Joint FTX was far more affordable than anything the US military could offer (albeit those costs are often "hidden" in the supporting units operational expenses). As a nonprofit school with an all-volunteer staff and cadre, One Shepherd tuition is remarkably affordable. Still, there are unavoidable costs accrued in training - munitions, meals, training aids, and the upkeep of MILES gear, AR15 weapon systems, PRC series radios, TA series field phones, night vision, navigation systems...the list goes on. Plus, the facilities again are affordable, but they must receive compensation as well. I speak for everyone in saying that One Shepherd would welcome ROTC programs back in a New York minute! One Shepherd has its annual curriculum - and it is remarkably similar to ROTC! But, ROTC has a separate battle rhythm for its training year. They're rarely in synch with each other. Sadly. (Let me know if I'm wrong! If you see a way around these hurdles, I'd be very interested in continuing to explore this option. Thank you, sir.)
@@christopherlarsen7788 I understand the complexities of dealing with ROTC commands...the dedication to training and willingness to assume risk to facilitate training tends to ebb and flow based of the CG for cadet command. (And respectively the BDE commanders follow suit based off of Cdrs intent/climate) However, a lot of the times it is simply a matter of how the request is done and force of character to make things happen. A few years ago when I was still on AD and an APMS at Cameron University some friends of mine from college (pitt state) who were all prior service Marines created a tactical decision making additional instruction through the use of tabletop games but modified to implement the entire TLP process while also helping to get cadets to think about the 2nd and 3rd order effects of the decisions they make in planning and then even more importantly, on the battlefield. In a classroom setting, it seemed to work well. Unfortunately, the opportunities for cadets to implement hands on training, in gear, in teams, in an operational environment is limited at best. They have formal FTXs each semester and camps during the summer...but it simply isn’t enough as far as I’m concerned. The ideas I have potentially for your course is to treat it like how regular units treat Ranger School. Send good prospects who are willing to go so they can get the benefit of the experience and then bring that experience back to the program with their lessons learned /best practices. Obviously this is all speculative at the moment, but you guys aren’t too far away and I would love to collaborate at some point in the future. Can I get a hold of someone on your website? Is there a specific way you would like for me to contact you?
@@Brent0331 Thanks for the reply. I am currently getting a couple guys rounded up to begin the 1shepherd curriculum pathway. We are going to be attending Bravo Co. Its because of your 1Shepherd content that we are attending. Great stuff. Thank you.
Slightly off topic, but where in the world did you get that DuckHunter camo tarp that you have the gear on? P.S. LOVE your videos, brother. I've watched some of the Vietnam and camo ones multiple times.
My two cents Fighting load (rifle and web gear) is around 25 pounds or up depending on how much ammo, water, ect you have. A ruck will usually weight 40, 50 or more pounds depending on what you are carrying. It really depends on your level of physical fitness, I would suggest hiking for afew miles (3 to 6) carrying like 35 pounds. That would give you an idea of how your body would handle going to 1 Shepard Please note that I have not attended 1 shepard yet, I plan to go in 2022. This is my own opinion, I see no problem in you going, Just exercise and stay in a decent shape (be able to do afew pushups, situps, run a block or 2, walk afew miles with some weight) and you should be fine .
@@tonymays4342 My problem is my spine. It is fractured and compressed. walking moving ect is not a issue, physical health is something I maintain. The worry is prolonged weight. I have carried on hikes after my injury 60 to 75 pounds but it has not been easy, it slows me down more so than in the past, and has made it more difficult the next day. Shepard One is the one school I want to attend, I am not sure if my injury will become worse in that type of environment. Thanks for the reply.
Ha! Your rucksack in Multicam is fine. Generally we say, "OD Green Rules!" But with the rucksack, you'll drop it as soon as the fighting begins. So, the rucksack doesn't really present a problem with friend-or-foe identification. It just needs to be an earthy color.
@@Brent0331 Indeed it is! I should have reviewed before asking. Your video is certainly a comprehensive reference manual, not a quick guide. Very well done.
Definitely want to start attending these courses with some friends but need a ton of extra stuff. Guess I'll have to stay gathering up a few things. One question on uniforms.. If its the appropriate pattern like woodland, can the uniforms be the combat style cuts like Crye or other ones? Would suck to have to get another set of woodlands otherwise. I'd still need to get the OD fatigues anyways. Always enjoy your content! Thanks for what you do Brent0331!!!
Crye pants worn with the ACU shirt? Sure! As long as the color (M81 Woodland and/or OD Green) and the material visibly match. No worries. As Brent said in this video, technically speaking, it's really the ACU shirt that is the center focus of our uniform standard.
I am a former Marine, and also served in the Army active duty, prior to going into civilian law enforcement. Haven't been in a military situation in years, so am thinking of looking into these courses. Am over 50, but in decent shape. Could I benefit from this? Or should I look at a more advanced course?
What do you mean? Its a leadership school, you sign up to attend 1 week semesters. You follow the curriculum of the semester. How far you want to go in the program is on the student.
One thing I would add is a true unscented deodorant. If I can smell you so can the enemy specially while in a recon role. My personal choice is mitchum unscented. It's the only one I've tried that says unscented that actually is and it works extremely well for 24 hours. I started using it years ago for hunting and have had deer and other animals come right up to me while in brush not realizing I was there. If it gets you past their noses then it will a humans. I use ivory soap during hunting season for the same reasons, little to no scents added. Ivory soap has a added advantage in a survival situation of being great catfish bait. They can't resist it. But it's not legal in many states because it can trigger breeding activities in catfish as well so it's survival use only. I think a lot of people overlook body odors and what they use to control them in the field, it doesn't take us long while out in the field to recognize odors that shouldn't be there from scented body products to food being cooked. It's hard to avoid food smells but it's something that needs to be factored in and may mean having more things that don't require heating or cooking to eat like trail mix, granola and fruit bars and even peanut butter though that can have a strong odor scent down wind. Just some other things to consider specially the deodorant one.

Hey Brent, I think I might have a fake Marine on my hands. Do you know what year Marines started putting a name tape on their BDU blouse? Thanks.
Hey Brent, not being facetious brother, serious question:
One Shepherd got any future plans to mandate pokey in order to attend your courses?
Honestly just curious.
Jh
SWEET BABY JESUS - YES! Brent, you have no idea how often I have to write a lengthy email to explain this to newcomers. (I'm talking to two through email TODAY!) This has instantly become my email response ... "Have you tried turning it off and on again? No? Well, watch Brent's video." DONE. Thank you!
Thanks Chris.
Haha I appreciate it too, I was about to send you that email.
Are there any plans to set up a training course out west ?
@@newdefsys - You bet! We have set a goal of Charlie Company (CCO) kicking off training in the western states by 2026. We're open to various locations, but right now the southwest is appealing - particularly the region around Las Vegas, NV and St. George, UT and Kingman, AZ. But of course, no decision has been made yet. Still, we're planning! The regiment wants a CCO.
@@christopherlarsen7788 Sounds good. Thank you for responding.
The reason Alice Pack prices are going up are because of Supply and Demand.
Supply: there’s only so many Alice Packs in surplus because we don’t make them anymore
Demand: If Brent says you should get it, you bet your ass everyone is gonna get it.
Thanks for the Video I always like to see videos on gear, and how it's used
I wore them in Iraq and didn’t get lice. I wore them until I got the boots nasty and then I’d put on new ones.
What is that rattlesnake rattle sound?
I also like 1000mg garlic pills. I usually start taking them 3 or 4 days before I go to the field.
Ypu know what I'm going to do that this is a great idea thank you.
@@kbs5150 Cicadas, it's a big loud bug.
Talked to Klein last night. He said I should have had a cut scene from your first semester where you froze your ass off after being rained on. Lol
@@Brent0331 lol yeah good times.
I would imagine showing up in-shape would help.
Definitely helps.
Hey, round is a shape too ya know! lol
I'm slowly piecing together the gear to go to this because man I can't wait!
Same.
Same, see you in the woods
God Bless America. Amazing training
Good stuff, I can definitely attest to the sewing kit coming in handy lol. Stay safe bro 🇺🇸
Late April - Bravo Company in WV
Early June - Alpha Company in MO
Late September - Bravo Company in WV
Late October - Alpha Company in MO
Will there be a Fall Bravo Co Semester this year? I did not see one listed on the website.
@@AverageJoe311 - Thank you, Joe. Looking forward to training with you next year!
Poncho Liner is all I ever called it when I was in the Army.1970’s-1990’s.
Only POGs call it that, or used to, even Marines call then woobies now, fucking new generation morons. I got out in 2012, joined in 04 and it was a different Army than when I joined
Its UA-cam. All these guys are watching the same shit on YT. We used to be segregated in our own respective cults with our own terms and jargon.
It was a poncho liner when I was in, and I was in the 325th AIR. Early 90's.
Everyone out there needs to be proud of what they did
I plan on going this summer 2022 thanks for the vid help us new comers out a lot.
THIS IS NEEDED FOR THIS TIME. 😊
Great content Brent. Please 🙏 keep up the AWESOME CONTACT and please be out in the field.
Semper Fidelis as always. Thank you for your continued support and information. I plan on attending the spring semester B CO.
Dusty
Nice.
Yes! This is what I needed. Thanks.
Almost all my tactical gear is multicam lol. SHITE. Great video, this combined with the amount of links you provided in the description is a whole lot of work, much appreciated sir.
Great job as always and would love to attend in WV. Howdy from PA Appalachians
Next year there will be two semesters with Bravo Company near Summit Point, WV.
Great point on note taking! People (in general) never take enough notes!
Write in the rain notes
Good video as always brother I wish I could go
Thanks
Very well done, This video will prove to be extremely helpful to many!
Okay?
Pro Tip, when using the old Alice Willie Pete gooseneck the top instead of folding it. That is how we did it.
Good place to check guys is yard sales, flea markets, free piles, gun shows, salvation army, etc. Some of the best gear/uniforms have been at flea markets. Full m81 goretex top and bottoms $50 unissued in original packaging.
Excellent video brother! This is rock solid information!
Thanks brother
I love how much america gets into the military life style. You cant wake up one day and know every thing but you can train your entire life like most of our boys do
Best channel on this subject.
May be by fall humidity will be down. Its been a beast so far down in Pineland NC.
Thanks, I’ve been really thinking of doing a one shepherd semester, gonna for sure do it now though after a friend of mine did it and said it was real fun
Awesome brother, hope to see you in the future.
It definitely snows early here in WV, not to mention the temperature can drop 20+ degrees within hours.
Ooh Rah!
It was a cold a wet one for sure last year.
@@Brent0331 Tuff times are coming for this country Marine, I hope you truly understand who's the real enemy.
This was held in WV?? What part? Fairmont here.
You aren't lying about different OD Green variants. I have yet to find a matching set of trousers from TRU-SPEC to match their ACP Jacket within their own company.
Wonderful!
Good deal Brent! Appreciate the fine info!!
Really hope things allow me to start soon
excited to start planning this...just Gona suck getting a whole new set of gear lol..I just bought a bunch of multicam lol
This packing list is all most just like itb and and any field op I have ever had
Outstanding stuff. Thank you Brent.
I can't wait to attend.
I inherited my Father's Vietnam Era O.D. Poncho.
Hey could you do a quick video showing how you attached that camelbak to the gear at 31:20? Or if it is just molle or something.
I hate to ask such a novice question, but how do you wear your web/782 gear with a alice style ruck? More specifically where does the belt ride in relation to your hips for the alice frame to clear your buttpack? Do you leave it at the same height when you aren't carrying the ruck?
The hip pad will sit right above your butt pack. Check out my ALICE pack video.
You should do an updated gear video like the one you made back around 2013
I subscribed to your Channel because of something you said real early in this video, I was always taught that they were trousers and not pants, I do come from a military family.
Thanks for this video..
Wish I had the able body to participate, most of my friends call me Forrest & that's okay, I still like going out hunting.
*Edited here* @35:03 - I only have one question, I live in the middle of the desert amongst the volcanic rocks grab and olive green would stick out like a turd in a punch bowl, do you have any recommendation?
I'm not sure, have you looked at Rhodesian Brush Stroke. There's a lot of reproduction uniforms out there now and that contains a reddish brown.

Hey Brent just wondering if you're planning on doing any camo effectiveness videos this summer.
@@Brent0331 Thank you good sir.

@Brent0331, Does the rubber interior of the ALICE liner degrade over time like in some of the used ones due to the nature of the material or because of rubbing against items? I'm debating between it and the USMC liner.
I've been using one for *20* years. Yes, the area you tie off will degrade, but still keep your gear ready.
Like watching channel sound good I wood love to join.sempi Fi always faithful.
I see you found the PRC 77, but has PRiC E-6?
Is there an age limit to these operations? I'd love to get into this sort of thing but want to make sure I'm allowed!
I believe the minimum was 12 or 13
I’m having a really tough time finding a uniform in woodland that has the correct ACU cut. Could someone point out a couple companies that would fit within regs??
Look at my pinned comment.
@@Brent0331 good stuff, thanks so much!
I’m the new Senior Military Science Instructor (Army ROTC) at Pitt State in SE KS. Do you all offer OPFOR services for FTX type events?
Contact the Director at One Shepherd. 1S DOES do joint FTX using One Shepherd supplied MILES gear.
Hey Brent, great content as always. Is Ranger Green an acceptable color for my LBE?
Yes
@@Brent0331 Thanks for the reply. I am currently getting a couple guys rounded up to begin the 1shepherd curriculum pathway.
We are going to be attending Bravo Co.
Its because of your 1Shepherd content that we are attending.
Great stuff. Thank you.
Slightly off topic, but where in the world did you get that DuckHunter camo tarp that you have the gear on? P.S. LOVE your videos, brother. I've watched some of the Vietnam and camo ones multiple times.
Sportsmansguide had them years ago.
can a person with spinal injury attend the school. main question is about the weight, how much weight is used ie gear in the class.
My two cents
Fighting load (rifle and web gear) is around 25 pounds or up depending on how much ammo, water, ect you have. A ruck will usually weight 40, 50 or more pounds depending on what you are carrying.
It really depends on your level of physical fitness, I would suggest hiking for afew miles (3 to 6) carrying like 35 pounds. That would give you an idea of how your body would handle going to 1 Shepard
Please note that I have not attended 1 shepard yet, I plan to go in 2022.
Is a multicam ruck ok, or does it also need to be OD Green?
Its addressed in the video.
Does the German poncho work With the US poncho liner?
Definitely want to start attending these courses with some friends but need a ton of extra stuff. Guess I'll have to stay gathering up a few things.
One question on uniforms.. If its the appropriate pattern like woodland, can the uniforms be the combat style cuts like Crye or other ones? Would suck to have to get another set of woodlands otherwise. I'd still need to get the OD fatigues anyways.
Always enjoy your content! Thanks for what you do Brent0331!!!
Thanks brother, the uniform requirements are what I put in this video. Hope to see you out there one day.
Crye pants worn with the ACU shirt? Sure! As long as the color (M81 Woodland and/or OD Green) and the material visibly match. No worries. As Brent said in this video, technically speaking, it's really the ACU shirt that is the center focus of our uniform standard.
@@christopherlarsen7788 oh this is perfect! Thanks!
I'd like to be a new student but it's tough to travel I got luggage.
"self identify as a Amazonian indigenous midget" that is class hahaha
I am a former Marine, and also served in the Army active duty, prior to going into civilian law enforcement. Haven't been in a military situation in years, so am thinking of looking into these courses. Am over 50, but in decent shape. Could I benefit from this? Or should I look at a more advanced course?
1S is packed with veterans including myself.
@@Brent0331 Very cool, what is 1S specifically?
@@historyandhorseplaying7374 Go to my 1S playlist brother, I have multiple videos on it.
@@Brent0331 copy!
If you go through the course do you have a commitment to serve the One Shepherd Unit?
What do you mean? Its a leadership school, you sign up to attend 1 week semesters. You follow the curriculum of the semester. How far you want to go in the program is on the student.
Oh I thought this was like the training for like a private military company or something.
@@cadetcombatgaming Jesus man, you're even trolling here? From your other posts, I always thought you were a glowie.
NEVER buy army issue boots !!
They will DESTROY your feet.
I was lucky enough to trade MREs for British issue & that made all the dif.
Is any prior experience required to attend One Shepard?
None
Extremely interested in attending a semester with Bravo for 2022
Where do I sign up ?
Website, but 2022 training dates aren't published yet.
TAN BOOTS WITH WOODLAND CAMO WELL THAT'S NUTS
Do you must be former service or current service to attend?
Anyone can participate.
I was hoping I could show up in dot 44 camo
M-81, that's the old school woodland, correct?
Yes it is
I can't find this ACU pattern anywhere on line

Cool cap, major👍😏
What about Helmets? Is there anything on those?
Not required, however they're useful for mounting NVGs.
@@Brent0331 Do they have to be Od green?
If you're opfor, if blufor you'll need a woodland helmet cover.
