    Only an hour ago I had a leaking pipe while my plant was on. I saw a few videos, but only yours made sense to me. I removed the pipe, cut the end and fixed it, and it was done. As simple as ABC. Thanks a lot and love from Karachi, pakistan. You saved me time and money.

    Thanks for putting out the video. A couple of comments come to mind. One is that I don't think it makes much sense to put the clip on the collet before inserting the tube. Surely, that makes it harder and may also scrape the tube. Best to put the clip after the tube is properly in, since the purpose of the clip is to ensure the collet stays tight on the tube. Also, if I am not mistaken I think I saw a burr created when you cut the tube, which if there should be removed before inserting the tube through the Oring as that could damage the Oring.

    When mine started leaking I thought "uh oh, i'll bet i can't find a youtube video on how to fix this. Had no idea how that fitting worked. Fixed! Thank you so much.

    My RO system has been leaking since 2015. I got a smart refrigerator and in watching videos on how to run water to it I happened to see this video. Quite the miracle. I fix it by myself! Very well done video thank you again.

    Hello Henry, very helpful video, which aided in stopping a leak I had, particularly the removal of the portion of the previously used pipe. One addition, I found that because of space constraints the pipe I was using was pushing into the fitting and was not straight. By straightening the pipe and pulling back on it to seat the lock, the leakage can be stopped.

    Outstanding! You saved me on this one. I was replacing the filters on my RO system for the first time. Everything was replaced and things were leaking and I couldn't get the stupid hoses undone and.... well, things were bad. Thanks for posting this!

    Nice, thanks, Henry. Fixed my leak. Spent over 3 hours trying to figure it out. Can’t believe the grooves were the problem. Thought I just needed a new, square cut but wasn’t cutting enough off enough tubing to create a good crimp inside the female end.

    I've been having occasional leaks in my ro filter system, even leading to some minor flooding under my sink and I had no notion about how these fittings work. Thank you for the complete & simple explanation of the mechanism and solution of the problem!

      Do not use these fittings! They are called "Sharkbite" and they are NOT reusable and NOT intended for pressure! They are for air application, because only that single o-ring seals and its easily ruptured! Use Jacko instead!

    You make it look so easy. My copper pipe will not come out of that white plastic piece. It only came off on one end, even with using my buck knife. Looks like I'll have to cut the copper pipe off of it.

    Nice video breaking down the parts however you should try to use a water based soluble lubricant such as KY jelly not a petroleum based lubricant as it will deteriorate the plastic hose

    • @ralphonearth3101
      @ralphonearth3101 7 років тому +1

      Jon V. ✓DO NOT USE PETROLIUM JELLY! In time it will dissolve the O-ring first. Anything petroleum based such as O-ring, wetsuits to asphalt will be changed by introducing petroleum jelly.
      I use silicone grease. It will lubricate an O-ring without deteriorating it.

    Used this to troubleshoot an under sink filter. I took out the piece with teeth and shined a flashlight in the hole (it’s connected to the filter housing) and the o-ring was dislodged and sideways preventing the tube from going all the way in.

    3:33 should probably use a special cut-off tool made for that, I'm pretty sure they make them. This reminds me using Shark Bite fittings on copper pipe, the cut on the pipe needs to be perfect and they sell a special cutter for that purpose, if not perfect, it will leak.

    Thank you for this video! I do have question. I did fixed one of my water lines using your instructions but my red line that is coming from the main into the housing Of system is leaking still. I cut the hose and insert it again but still licks a little. I did pulled back to make sure is locked but I still see the small leak. What should i do. Are there parts in Home Depot that I can use to repair it (anyone ?) I am thinking that it might be the o ring/ seal that needs to re replaced. I will be making a run to see if I can find these parts, will update post. Thank you
