I'm an abstainer and I get so tired of people telling me that I should allow myself just a little bit of cake or whatever, or else I'll feel deprived and binge. I tell them I've managed to abstain from all sweets for years and they just don't want to hear it. I love a good habit, too. For many, many years, I got up at 4:30 six days a week and jumped rope for 21 minutes followed by 9 minutes of floor exercises. It's so easy when you just wake up and do it before you have time to think of excuses.
I can't tell you how much I loved this interview! I read Gretchen's Happiness Project book several years ago and got so much out of it. I didn't realize she had a new book, and am ordering it today. I'm thrilled that she's a keto enthusiast and could totally relate to her story: the hubby losing weight, despite that he's only partially doing it, the kids slowly adopting low carb, wanting to get our parents doing keto, etc.. Thanks Abel!
So glad to see this. After reading everything available on Dr. Eric Westman at Duke, Jason Fung's work, DietDoctor.com, and hearing Gretchen on Healthful Pursuit, I'm glad to see high fat, low carb finally making it to the mainstream. Anyone who cares to do the research will see the increase in obesity rates and its correlation to low fat foods and higher carb intake. It has been the best thing for my own fitness changes (13 pounds, 11 inches and 10% BF reduction in 6 months without changing anything else)--and the one thing that has helped actually get rid of belly fat!
