Easier way to conceal your screwheads: use a Countersink/Pilot Hole Drill Bit. In one step you drill the pilot hole and the recessed area for the screwhead. Buy one bit or a set with different diameters. Love the bench. Good job.
Good morning what a beautiful project. I was watching you use your dremal to slice into the screw holes on the side board of the bench. A tip would be to use a drill bit that is slightly larger the the head of the screw. Drill in just a bit deeper the the length of the screw head and it will be counter sunk. You could use a piece of tape on the drill bit to figure how deep to drill the hole. Just hold the screw up to the bot tape the bit where you want to stop drilling and then put the bot in the hole and drill until you get to the tape.
Hi Coni! Thank you so much! Also, thank you for that tip...I will have to try that on my next project. Anyway, thank you for taking the time to share and for watching! You have a WONDERFUL day, Coni! XOXO

I have enough stuff and I'm sure you're right....it probably made that person who bought it feel lucky! Thanks Again for watching and for your WONDERFUL comment, Arlene! XOXO
This is gorgeous! Love it. Best video... Well, I like how you constructed it. Many others said well, I wouldn't put too much weight on it. Well, we want ours to sit on in the vestibule while getting ready to go! I love your attention to solid construction but keeping the anesthetics in mind. Side note: the first 6 years of our marriage we lived directly east of the Packard proving grounds. I never knew that was it's name!

I suggest you check out the star head screws. Each box comes with a bit that fits the screws. These truly beat Philips head screws hands down. Also a countersink set is a good investment. Great job in converting the bed in to the bench. And thanks for letting me know that Home Depot can color match Annie Sloan colors.
Hi Mitchel! Thank you so much on the suggestion about the star head screws and a countersink! I appreciate that! And, oh yes....Home Depot can color match. If you have any Annie Sloan paint...put some on a board or something like that and they will color match it. They also can save it in the computer under whatever name you want, in this case I would put Graphite and that way...you can just buy more without having to bring in a paint sample. Anyway, thanks again, Mitchel for watching and for sharing your tips! Have a BEAUTIFUL night!

I grew up in shelby!!! I wish I knew about you I would have brought up my dads bed I want turned into a bench the last time I was up there visiting from TN lol!! Great job it looks great!
That is a Beautiful bench. Love the shape and the color. I think it's asking a lot of 8 screws to hold the weight of the entire frame and anyone who sits on it though. Might have been good to glue and screw some additional bracing to the sides for the frame to rest on.
Hi Krickette! Thank you so much for the compliment! As far as, the screws holding the frame up....you wouldn't believe how sturdy it was!!! I stood on it in the Uhaul, as I packed things high up and I'm not 105 lbs by any means! LOL Also, I had my son sit on it with me at the same time and we kind of bounced around just to test it out and it was very strong...so, no worries! I used 3" screws, so because they are longer screws, they are really in there on both pieces! I'm sure if you wanted to add brackets and glue, though....you could, but this thing wasn't going anywhere! I feel very confident about it! Thanks for the suggestion, though and for watching! XOXO
Yep...I'm back! HEE HEE That was so sweet of you, Lolitabonita!!! Thank you so much and I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! I felt bad not posting one last week, but with the show and everything....I just ran out of time! Anyway, thanks again and you have a BEAUTIFUL day, my friend! XOXO
@@FLEAMARKETRESCUE Love ur videos specially now that the music is at low volume (LOLOLOL) no for real u just inspire many to do beautiful things -well at least u inspire me) Another tip....there are this bits called "Counter sink bits" that u use to pre-drill the holes and the bit also makes a hole on the wood that makes the screw sit below the wood grain...one step two birds with one stone type of thing...
Thank you so much, Lanie!!! Yes, you should be able to find a bed easily! Go on Facebook Marketplace or go to one of your local Thrift Stores. You'll definitely come across one! Thanks so much for the WONDERFUL compliment on the bench and for watching! XOXO
I love this idea and it turned out amazing. It's gorgeous. A drill bit the same size as your screw drilled into the screw holes just enough for the screw to sit would be a better alternative.
Hi Denise! Thank you so much for the wonderful compliment! Also, I had another person in the comments suggest the same thing....I'm going to have to try it on my next project! Thanks so much for sharing and for watching! XOXO You have a BEAUTIFUL day, Denise!

My deck is the same way, and almost the same age. It is hideous, too. I want to take it off, and just have two small porches, which is my plan, eventually. I also have a frame that is very similar. I have been wanting to make a bench from it. Your’s is beautiful. How much did you sell it for? I am getting started on refinishing furniture, and I am trying to get an idea what to sell things for.
Yes...my deck is an eye sore! We were suppose to get it replaced this year, but we had so much going on with my son's graduation and everything else that we never go around to doing it! Next year for sure, though! As far as the bench.... I sold it for $185-. In hindsight, I probably could have gotten more though. Oh well... Anyway, thanks so much for the compliment on it and for watching! XOXO
Hi Lonney! You know... I alway use Titebond on all my wood projects, but I just felt with all the screws this thing wasn't going anywhere! It was soooo sturdy...I wasn't worry one bit about it! But, yea...you most definitely could have used some glue, however, it really wasn't needed on this project. The screws held it together so tight, it would have taken a boom truck with a wrecking ball to destroy it! LOL Great question, though!
Hi have a important question, that is would the wood from bed be ok outdoor on rain or sun? I am wondering if I could do that but I am worry about the wood getting ruined outdoor.
Thank you, Donna! I sold it for $185, but in hindsight...I probably could have gotten more for it. But, yea....I would definitely try it! I had so many commenting on it and like I said in the video...it was one of the first things to sell.
really beautiful!!! How much were you able to sell it for? I am always curious, as once in a while, do a project but never know how to price it. (Thanks) also...as you were constructing i was wondering if the side panels alone were enough long term support for the frame and the weight of people on it...it seemed to me that the posts would have been stronger if you screwed the boards through them instead of just through the side panels...not to be critical...honestly...lovely lovely bench...but lots of people in my family are heavy and we've lost chairs! lol...all the best to you ....love your channel.
Hi Janice! I sold it for $185-. In hindsight...I probably could have gotten a lot more for it. I think $250 would have still been reasonable and it would have still sold at that price. As far as, you question about support...in the Uhaul truck I stood on this bench to pack things higher and I'm not 105 lbs by any means! LOL Also, after I finished the bench I had my teenage son and I sit on it at the same time and we even bounced on it to ensure it would hold up. This thing was SOLID...I have no worries what so ever. I understand your question, though and for the record....my husband and his family are all like 6'2' and 300lbs, so I totally get what you are saying about losing chairs! I've had a few dining room chairs that had to be taken to the curb! LOL Thanks so much for commenting and for watching, Janice! I appreciate that!! Have a GREAT day, today!!! XOXO
You know what, Elaine....if I remember correctly....we did have to cut a little more off each side. I think we made it 19". Don't quote me on that, but...I think that is what it was 19" -20". Ok? I completely forgot about that, because it was so long since we cut the footboard in half.

Thank you, Patti for the tip on a countersink/pilot hole drill bit! I will look into that for sure! XOXO
I also would have notched the sideboards to fit right over the front board.
Invest in a counter sink drill bit that way you won’t need to use the Dremel and you’ll have a much cleaner look.

XOXO
Beautiful ❤️
Thank you, Sheri!!! XOXO I appreciate that! Have a GREAT day, today!
ahh u are back...I was missing your video...as always very nice projects...
They make bits for your drill that counter sink the screw heads
Thanks for sharing....I appreciate that, Marianne!!! XOXO
I love this! I am looking for a twin size or toddler bed to make one of these! Beautiful!
2024 still going!! Nice!!😊
Beautiful. I have been wanting to do a bench, but I have not come across the right headboard/footboard yet.
Hi Theresa! I would look on Facebook Marketplace or at your local Thrift Store. I see old bed frames on Marketplace often...try that! Anyway, thank you so much for watching and for the great compliment! XOXO You have a WONDERFUL day, Theresa!
Really stunning! I would love to find a piece to try try this.
OH..they are definitely out there, Rebecca! You can find them on Facebook Marketplace or try some thrift stores! You can do it!!! I believe in you! Thanks so much for watching and for taking the time to comment! You have a BEAUTIFUL day, today! XOXO
Love the bench! You did a fantastic job on this piece! As always, love watching your thrift flips!
Awhhh....thank you so much, Avery's Nest! I really appreciate that!!!! XOXO You have a BEAUTIFUL day, today!
XOXO
I'm wondering why no wood glue ???
Hi Lonney!
Beautiful bed bench! Love the color. I see the paint is enamel. Is the paint satin, semigloss flat ?
Thank you so much, Rita! I believe I got it in the eggshell finish.
Beautiful would like to try that!!! How much do they sell for!
XOXO
Did you cut the footboard in half or did you need to remove more so the seat wasn't to deep?
You know what, Elaine....if I remember correctly....we did have to cut a little more off each side. I think we made it 19". Don't quote me on that, but...I think that is what it was 19" -20". Ok? I completely forgot about that, because it was so long since we cut the footboard in half.
Where are you located? Would love to go to the market you were referring to in your video - chic and unique?
I'm in Sterling Heights, Michigan and the show is literally ten minutes away from my house, in Shelby Township. Here's a link to the Chic & Unique Facebook page: facebook.com/ChicAndUniqueMarket Would love to see you if it's not too far!
What paint did you use?
Hi Jacqueline...I used Behr Paint and Primer that was color matched to an Annie Sloan paint color called Graphite.

Oi Kellen,
OK? Obrigado por me avisar!
I'm a little scare of black paint. You show the opposite. Beautiful done
Hi Syndia! I normal do a lot of white, but this black is such a beautiful color! It really just adds so much character! Thank you so much for watching and for the WONDERFUL compliment! XOXO You have a BEAUTIFUL weekend!
Paint?
Keep drill straight
Clean your spatula, it’s full of plastic wood
Please wear some closed toe shoes. I dropped a board on my foot and broke a toe.
Oh my gosh my favorite by far I love it
