@@СергейСнегирь-ы6д … that’s probably why we amateur furniture restorers here in the west (US) have never heard of it. While I was watching the video and saw him put the sandbag on… my jaw dropped! And I thought to myself “why has nobody shown this trick before now?” It’s just pure genius!
This makes me understand why they bought what I’ve always thought of as ugly furniture. Wasn’t ugly when it was new. Loved the nearly eye level ride through the table saw
I like it as it is. No silly words. No - Houston we have a problem - sentences. No screaming Music. Just great work. And when and where needed an explanation. And since i just like watching the episodes, it doesn't matter to me when some of the explanations don't make any sense to me.
Amen! I cannot stand music in the background, also. The producers never play the kind that I like! Besides all of that and most important, it is horribly distracting!
I found veneered '50s wood furniture to be a pain to work on. Then the '70s rolled around with the faux wood veneer on particle board, and I quickly grew to appreciate '50s furniture. 😂
Ahti, you're so funny. I am sure there are many people who are so glad they know "the guy who will restore anything"! 💕 Yet another restoration that shows your remarkable talent and skill!
This restoration turned out beautifully, as all your work does!! The two main things that I have learned from you are- disassemble before starting repairs, and, when gluing, use more clamps!!😁❤️😍
It simply amazes and astounds me how you can take a piece of furniture I would have been certain was headed for the dump or to a burn pile and resurrect it to the point that I would be proud to have it in my own house had I the room for it. Beautiful restoration! Again I love watching your videos and look forward to the next one!
I believe it was Matthias Wandel (ex-Blackberry engineer turned YT maker - but his father was a carpenter) who did some experiments with gluing strength. It turns out, with PVA, the smoother the gluing surfaces the stronger the joint is, even if this is counter-intuitive. Rough surfaces cause the glue layer to be thicker, and it seems PVA glue is strongest when the glue layer is thinnest.
Always impressed with your color matching skills Ahti! A deceptively simple design, but the curved surfaces made it challenging. Loved the “sandbag clamp,” so inventive!
A couple years ago I was looking for wood furniture restoration videos. I watched many and was disappointed with the majority of what I saw. The wood pieces weren't made sound nor were they prepared properly. On almost all the finish showed the lack of care. Finding your channel made me so pleased. I kept thinking, "Yes! That's the way you do it." The items were sound, completely usable and the wood finish glowed as if lit from within. Thank you for the joy your videos bring me.
Beautiful results. ♥️ And……. Thanks for the information about the expansion of wood and veneer. I always learn something from your videos. Appreciate you taking the extra time in editing to include useful details.
Oh Good Grief! I had a bed identical to this one, back in the 1950's. It was quite a shock to see it again and it looks so beautiful restored! ☺ I think one of my favourite parts of watching you work, is painting/rubbing on the Shellac. I can even still remember the smell of shellac! My dearly departed husband was a Carpenter/Joiner Cabinet Maker and I loved watching him work too
Excellent work! You have great followers that await your next project! When I found your new video after being posted 25 min before, there were x245 likes. By the time the video ended x23 min later, there were x735 likes and x3, 349 views! You are a Master Restorer! Thanks for your inspirational videos from Canada!
I watch several furniture restoration shows and yours is my favorite. One, you do excellent work; two, you don't talk a lot. Thanks for the great shows. Larry, Arkansas, USA
I think you are so talented in the restorations you perform. Your techniques are unquestionable, not to mention how much I enjoy you being funny in these videos. Please don't stop making videos for us because we enjoy them so much. Most of your videos are watch in my home 3 times or more. We can't get enough of them. Thank you so much for sharing.
Nothing ornate, just elegant simplicity. Lovely save - and as a tall person, I can appreciate wanting a long bed! Some of the antique beds are incredibly short.
I'm not a woodworker myself, but I love your videos! It is great that you take distressed or unwanted pieces and turn them into the centerpiece of your clients' homes. Keep up the good work!
I love that you will restore something that is so simple. We call that design 'mid-century modest' in houses. I think people forget about a lot of the simpler, quieter designs, but this is unmistakeably of its time just as much as any boomerang-shaped coffee table!
Absolutely beautiful piece back from the 50ty’s n on to another 70ty plus years n more. You are so brilliantly gifted. To take a piece of furniture apart . Restore what needs to be done n amazingly put it back together with great patience n skill blows me away. Love that wonderful idea of using a sand bag. You know all the tricks in making it work. I hope your client appreciates the beautiful work you done. I’m sure he does as that is why he came to in the first place. I have no more words say except two…Your awesome! ♥️♥️😊👍👍👍👏👏🌟
I really truly love your videos. Relaxing, informative, enjoyable, even humorous on occasion (almost always) I’m a 66 year old grandma whose hobby is sewing but always had wished I had taken up carpentry! 💗
If I was in the room I still wouldn't get such a clear, close-up view of your work as I do in your vlogs. Like watching a sports video, I can pause, rewind & see details I missed. A+ lighting/editing etc. Trying to say "great video production as well as fantastic workmanship, Ahti. You never disappoint" 👋Pat- Yukon
That is a rough project! I would have never gave that one the time of day! But you did. Thank you for the new video and I support you! Good work sir! Awesome video as always
Astonishing how you turned this piece of old junk into a nice looking bed. It still is a 50’s bed with the veneer and all, but you made it stand out as a nice piece of furniture. Thanks a lot for my viewing pleasure.
For someone who has never done this type of work before, you achieved amazing success! Joking of course. The level of skill, expertise, and experience you display at every step during each phase is astounding! Well done!
When I see a new video from you pop up on my feed, I get so very excited! There is so much beauty and talent in your restorations. And then, I'm reminded that I don't own enough clamps for my own smaller scale projects. LOL
Funny James Bond view of the buzz saw. I love that old veneer furniture. I saw that stuff when I was a kid. My daughter has a dresser that was my brother’s. The veneer needs slight repair. After watching you do it many times, I told my daughter I’d give it a try someday. 💜💜💜
Your videos are amazing and I especially like what you did with the camera on the saw…very unique angle. You are a master of your craft. Thank you for sharing with all of us.
A beautiful restoration as all your projects are, simple elegance with refined workmanship 😊 This type of bed brings back so many memories as a child, my great grandmother had a bed exactly like this one. I used to hang blankets on the head board and stretch them out over chairs and hide underneath them and read and make shadow shapes with a flashlight. Wonderful job 👏
The use of the sandbag to secure the rounded area for glue-up is genius!!!❤
Stealing this idea
It was brilliant! I’m stealing it, too!
I won't forget that one !!!
this method is described in old Soviet books on furniture restoration

That bed has lasted over 70 years, and now it will last another 100 years, at least. Great work, as always.
This makes me understand why they bought what I’ve always thought of as ugly furniture. Wasn’t ugly when it was new. Loved the nearly eye level ride through the table saw

So basically... not an American restorer lol
And no bad sanding and then painting with white chalk paint!
This guy's hands have magic!!! He turns scraps to gold!!!
I dont know about that mike Meyers get up.
I found veneered '50s wood furniture to be a pain to work on. Then the '70s rolled around with the faux wood veneer on particle board, and I quickly grew to appreciate '50s furniture. 😂
that's a point!
Ahti, you're so funny. I am sure there are many people who are so glad they know "the guy who will restore anything"! 💕 Yet another restoration that shows your remarkable talent and skill!
It must be so satisfying to take items that have been written off as junk and restore them to something beautiful and useful.
This restoration turned out beautifully, as all your work does!! The two main things that I have learned from you are- disassemble before starting repairs, and, when gluing, use more clamps!!😁❤️😍
I like the poor guy who’s willing to restore anything! He’s very very good at what he does.😊
It simply amazes and astounds me how you can take a piece of furniture I would have been certain was headed for the dump or to a burn pile and resurrect it to the point that I would be proud to have it in my own house had I the room for it. Your patience, talent and attention to detail never fails to amaze me! Wonderful job as usual! ❤❤❤
Looks fantastic 👏👏👏👏🇬🇧
I’m loving the sandbag trick! 👍🏻
Me too!

Recognizable, thorough professional work, thanks to which the old furniture is reborn. My recognition.
My favorite restoration guy.
Always impressed with your color matching skills Ahti! A deceptively simple design, but the curved surfaces made it challenging. Loved the “sandbag clamp,” so inventive!
WOW!!!!!!!!!!! that is just wonderful, great job !!!
Thank goodness for this guy! How else would we get such great restoration videos?!!

It’s true! There are a couple of men in Germany who do similar quality work, but that’s about it. 🇨🇦💕
Bravo. Another resurrection. Beautiful.
This man is a genius. I am glad that I stumbled across his channel. Only trouble I don't get any house work done I just sit and watch his videos.
Thanks for the ride through the saw. Yes, I’m paying attention now! Wonderful restoration. Beautiful, and you taught me a lot, as always.
You can make something simple into something classy. What an artist you are!

The sand bag trick is great!
Much awaited, much appreciated looking forward to excellent work as always from you.
“You need to use what you got”,words to live by.👍
This humble functional piece restored in full glory! Estonishing as my wife said!

Wow - this started out looking like bonfire material! Very impressed at the excellent quality of work, even for a modest piece!
Lots of REPAIRS executed meticulously! Well done👏👏👏
You make the cheap look expensive. I think the client will be very pleased with the result.
You ought to be in the wood masters' _Hall of Fame._ Everything you do is par excellence.
Okay, I LOVE the camera on the board at 12:45! Great shot!
That is a rough project! I would have never gave that one the time of day! But you did. Thank you for the new video and I support you! Good work sir! Awesome video as always
You, sir, are a truly skilled and gifted craftsman!!
Wow, that is so smart the sandbag, that takes form on it to seal glue. Bravo. Golden! What a beautiful job you did. Well done!
Magnificent as usual. Thanks, Ahti, for sharing this with us, your skills, expertise, and abilities. This was fun.
Awesomeness! Just right to watch on a cosy Sunday morning... I kept nodding off, took me an hour to watch it! 😆
Mr magic fingers to the rescue .superb restoration many thanks.
Your techniques for clamping the curved surfaces are great, the sand bag and thin plywood are things I never would have thought of.
Ahti, another great job. Many hours of work. This is the best chanel of furniture restoration on UA-cam.
I loved that you restored it and updated the length so it can be used again.
A "simple" restoration----simply filmed and almost entirely self explanatory, and yet I learned so much! Thank you!
12:56 yay thanks for the ride! I will never stop saying that you're a genius! every piece from is precious
Fantastic save! Beautiful art!
I love your videos, Ahti!
Once more, it is a beautiful bed.
Astonishing how you turned this piece of old junk into a nice looking bed. It still is a 50’s bed with the veneer and all, but you made it stand out as a nice piece of furniture. Thanks a lot for my viewing pleasure.
Simple but elegant design. Looks like new!!

Love the 80s intro music and how it fades to mute when the work begins and comes back at the end.
It's elegance is in its simplicity. Outstanding job! 🎉 Congratulations!🎉
Excellent, as usual.
This piece of furniture has a very "Art Deco" look... Art Deco interpreted in the 50's...Lovely work !!!
When I see a new video from you pop up on my feed, I get so very excited! There is so much beauty and talent in your restorations. And then, I'm reminded that I don't own enough clamps for my own smaller scale projects. LOL
Amazing job!
Always great to see old stuff fixed and reused. Great job as always.
Beautifully done! Just gorgeous. Thank you!
Another great project, nothing stops you.!
I know it’s going to be good when there lots and lots of clamps!!!!!! And thanks for the hack using the sandbag. Genius as always!!!!🎉🎉🎉
It is a pleasure to watch you work! ⭐️
You are the King of Clamps! Very nicely done.
Wowser! wonderful work on this apparently simple piece of furniture.
Beautifully done. 👏🏻
Sleek. Absolutely Sleek. Thank you for showing us how it's done.
Very nice restoration - you always do very good work!
An excellent restoration that is better than the original. Your client will love it.👍👍
Beautiful as always Ahti. Thanks for saving that bed
It came out extremely beautiful. Nice work.
Great job as always! When I need something restored I will bring it over the Baltic Sea to you 🙂
Вы космос!!!!!
I love that you do not destroy but preserve the furniture as it was originally designed. ❤❤❤❤
Funny James Bond view of the buzz saw. I love that old veneer furniture. I saw that stuff when I was a kid. My daughter has a dresser that was my brother’s. The veneer needs slight repair. After watching you do it many times, I told my daughter I’d give it a try someday. 💜💜💜

Gosh, I have missed your meticulous work! Glad we are in the new year and hope to watch more videos. Fantastic restoration.
Another beautiful restoration! :)
Ahti, your skills are absolutely brilliant. Only you could take that sad wreck and make into something beautiful! Well done!
Table saw footage from the perspective of the board. I like it!
If you know how to iron, then you surely know the art of woodwork. Bravo!
I've been watching one video of you every night for the last month. I need more, I am addicted 😂 Keep up the good work 🔥
I find these videos very soothing. No music, no inane chatter, just good woodworking
Yes MASTER, you saved much more veneer than I would. I would of stripped and re-veneered much of it! Awesome work ... as usual!
At the start of the video I thought why bother😱
But the end showed me why, what a fantastic transformation.👌
Beautiful bed. Reminds me of my old bed when I was a kid.
New techniques that are timeless. Thank you. Fascinating!
