Hello, First of all, thank you for all your reviews. They are incredibly helpful not only to me but also to many others. Could you please compare the 3 HDMI 2.1 Fancy Sync Box with the Philips Sync Box and provide your honest opinion on which one is the better choice? I noticed that if you choose the Philips Sync Box, Hub, Play Gradient Light Tube (Large), and Play Gradient Light Strip for a 75-inch TV, the total cost is almost $1000 and Fancy sync box for 75 inch TV with RGBW version cost 270 Euro. And I can pair with other devices like a remote. 2) there is a 75inch version! Main negative for Philips is the Price
I see that you are using the Sonos Arc Sound Bar. Are you running the SoundBar through the Sync Box or do you have it connected directly to the TV? Is one way preferred over the other?
The 4K sync box has a limitation for ARC support that you can only have one device plugged in. Can you check the app settings to see if that is still the case with the 8k version?

12:39 something I didn’t see explained but a question I have before purchasing. Does the sync box auto switch inputs easily or can that be done through the app? My TV currently auto switches inputs when I turn on my PS5, Xbox Series X, and Apple TV. If the input doesn’t switch I can press the menu button on each respective remote/controller. Does the sync box do the same?

To get Dolbyvision (AppleTV, XBox) to work on my A95L I had to disable the 4K120 setting in the input type and simply select enhanced for the HDMI settings for that port. For 4K120 gaming with VRR the TV will toggle it automatically if you select those settings on your gaming console, however you’ll need to set it back to enhanced to use Dolbyvision. If you’re playing at 4K60 without VRR Dolbyvision settings remain unchanged. Hope this helps someone, this may just be a Sony thing.

I saw you mentioned the CEC compatibility when your TV is turned on, but if everything is off (sync box, TV, and console) if you turn on just your console that is connected to the sync box, will it turn on the tv and sync box too? I’d like to be able to turn on my consoles via game controllers or Apple TV via Apple Remote and have it turn on the entire system through CEC without me having to use an additional TV remote or go into the app to turn on the sync box.
I have a question. I returned the previous version of the hue sync box because it did not work. All of my HDMI equipment is plugged into a splitter (which the hue box would replace) and then into a Samsung Q990C soundbar and out to an LGC1 OLED TV. I don’t use EARC on the TV as both the sound and picture quality is better without. Will this new 8K hue sync box send both a sound and a picture to the TV when connected via a soundbar? Great video by the way 👍
Yes the sync box will send picture and sound to the TV. If you do get it let me know how it goes, as if you had an if with the first one then this should be similar, but personally I don't see why you'd have an issue.

After paying over $300 for this new 8K sync box. I’m frustrated. I have 10 lights connected to It, but they get real bright at times, very annoying. My previous hue sync box did not do that. I wonder what could be causing the lights to get bright and then Dim and then Bright again when they’re not supposed to?
See this hue sync box you are reviewing is connected via 2.4ghz or 5ghz as I've got a old neo sync box and after upgrading my isp with vodafone it no longer works because my new router does not support 2.4ghz on 5
@derekkirwin5245 actually my bad, I just remembered this uses a hub and the hub is not using WiFi and is wired in and all the devices connect to the hub via the zigbee protocol. An alternative solution for your situation would be to buy a used router or reuse your old one. Just turn off dhcp and set to 2.4ghz and plug into you Vodafone router this will be the cheapest option to get it working again. Hope that helps.

SYNC BOX btw lol
Very interesting. What would be the first component to get before building up to this amazing experience?
Sorry - newb here. 😳
Np, you'd need the bridge, sync box and gradient lightstrip to start off with
I have a question.
Did you notice a big difference between the 2 versions of the sync box?
@@kwabzadjei8070 nothing other than the hdmi 2.1 support
@@kwabzadjei8070 Unfortunately I never got the first version to work, but the second version is working well so far
Hi, do you know if QMS (Quick Media Switch) is supported with AppleTV ?
So I received my Sync Box 8K and it's not compatible with QMS...
Does this new version fix the Dolby Atmos picture degradation issue?
is there any difference in performance between the standard sync box and this version? apart for the hdmi 2.1
No from what I could tell and I do own both
@@GeekStreet thanks for the heads up. I only use it for movies so pointless buying this version then.
@djscottfrenzy yes more relevent if you own a TV with hdmi 2.1 ports and a ps5 or xbox series x to game on
@@GeekStreet how about the issue with VRR on previous gen Sync Box and 2.1 splitter? Was it fixed? I also saw that Dolby Vision had a warning message on your Series X on previous gen + splitter. How about now on that config?
Might seem like a stupid question.. but does the strip turn on/off when the tv is turned on/off via HDMI CEC?
Sync box! Nice video. Helped a lot.
🤩
Does it work with native tv os? Or only with devices connected with hdmi?
Excellent video and perfect timing! I bought my Hue 8k Sync Box last week and hooked it up today on my LG C3 together with a 65´´ Gradient Play lightstrip and under the tv a Gradient Ambiance lightstrip. And I paired it with the new Google TV streamer and my Xbox series X and the Samsung Q990b soundbar. Let the good times begin!
Ahh beautifull, very similar to mine. I am also on a C3 65", Q990B which is a freakin beast of a sounbar. Im on ps5 tho, also planning to get the hue setup soon. Enjoy!
@@AlmostFamoush Thank you brother. The 8k sync box is definitely the perfect addition to your set up. Mine works flawlessly. I do recommend taking the Gradient Ambiance Lightstrip to put under your tv instead of the Light Tube. And the Q990B sure is a monster haha! Good luck with acquiring your Hue toys!
@@andreone3415 Thanks for recommendation, will definitly look into it! Enjoy the dream setup 😁
@@andreone3415 Why do you prefer the Gradient Ambiance Lightstrip? I felt (on others videos) it had like 3 sections, not a pure gradient like her. And should you install on the back of the TV or the cabinet? Thanks!
SYNC BOX Very good video. I have the 1st version so this is very informative for me before I upgrade.
🤩
is it possible to have the lights on a timer, so they automatically turn on after the sun goes down?
home asisstan üzerinden yapablirsin ufak bir otomasyon oluşturarak
Looks great, I'd never give Philips my money when they can then turn around and stop my device working whenever they want
Personally for me less is more, syncing all the lights in my living room with the tv gradient light strip is distracting when watching movies, after a week the novelty worned off and I’m only using the TV gradient light strip and it’s so much better, less distracting
How would you say this compares to the fancyled kit you reviewed a while back? I’m in between this and that
@blackskull very similar if you're on a budget and didn't want to expand out getting more light then go for the fancyleds, but if money was no issue go for Philips Hue the full room immersion is absolutely amazing
@@GeekStreet thank you boss! I actually just got the Philips strip, I found out I can use it natively on my TV without a sync box and it’ll even sync to my smart tvs apps! It’s with the Philips hue sync app which is on newer Samsung tvs. Pretty awesome as it works with HDMI 2.1 and everything
Awesome mate, really appreciate the details you give 👍”Sync Box”
🤩
Do you connect the soundbar directly to the TV and not the sync box?
@@siljehelland8852 to the TV
What are those corner lights called? I wanna purchase them
There you go amzn.to/4935NNy
are there still HDCP limitations? So can you use netflix and so on via apple tv, ps5, xbox and so on? Or do they have those copiright things going on where the box can't read the material
@vairoxx4031 I've used with netflix, display plus and Amazon prime no issues.
@@GeekStreet ok great. I just wonder where those informations come from that it doesnt display copyright stuff. Maybe its a thing of the past
@vairoxx4031 it's to do with copying the footage, when you play on a console the hdcp option has to be enabled.
I would live to see a review of the trak racer rs6
It’s a sim rig btw😝
Great Review!
"SYNC BOX" 😍
🤩
I can't find the Hue Sync app in my appstore? I can only download the Hue app. Did I miss anything? 4:59
Looking in the app store your right it's not in there! I downloaded the app last year I wonder if that's because the functionality has been moved to the Hue app I'll have to look around it at some point
how far is the tv from the wall?
@@rosseelwout about 5-6cm
I need to ask you something. I have my 8k sync box and I am using with my PS 5. I set up it with the hdmi cable which is included in the box and than my PS5 told me that HDR is off. I tried to search and I found a comment that you should change hdmi cable. I bought a new cable hdmi 2.1 and now it works with but I still couldn’t understand why original hdmi cable didn’t support
Nice review. At this price better having an ambilight philips tv. Also you can get distracted by the effects and not being 100/100 concentrated on movies
I hate the got rid of the ambilight+hue option on the tv's. The Sync Box still doesnt work on TV Apps right? Only external sources is kinda useless.
It's useless for you, but for someone like me, who never uses the TV app but only the one on Apple TV or the Xbox, it's perfect.
@xanderross true. Im just spoiled from the ambilight+hue option, which worked on anything like a charm. 😔
Where did you get that stand for your soundbar?
Do you think this would work with a capture card, like the elgato hd60 x
This looks awesome 🎉

im using the sync box with a fireTV cube and it randomly blackscreens like it would change the input signal turn off all the automatic change settings and it seems like it has issues cause of my Sonos arc case they kinda "battle" for the right input signal i dont know how to fix it cause
Will it plug in an hdmi soundbar? My current sync box can’t handle it
@@even_steven777 your soundbar would still plug into your TV
How best to set this up when you have all HDMI inputs going into AV receiver for home theatre?
I set mine up like this: Apple TV 4K -> AVR -> sync box -> TV. No issues so far
which tv backlights out there do literally have zero delay? if someone knows i would appreciate it allot. since he said in the video this has a slight delay because it is wireless
I need help having the lights turn off when i shut down my xbox they stay on really dim
See this hue sync box you are reviewing is connected via 2.4ghz or 5ghz as I've got a old neo sync box and after upgrading my isp with vodafone it no longer works because my new router does not support 2.4ghz on 5
@derekkirwin5245 it's connected via 2.4ghz
@GeekStreet well bang goes buying this one, dam vodafone broadband with there new router that you can't even switch between 2.4 and 5
@derekkirwin5245 actually my bad, I just remembered this uses a hub and the hub is not using WiFi and is wired in and all the devices connect to the hub via the zigbee protocol. An alternative solution for your situation would be to buy a used router or reuse your old one. Just turn off dhcp and set to 2.4ghz and plug into you Vodafone router this will be the cheapest option to get it working again. Hope that helps.
@GeekStreet just bought the govee but I'll definitely try your method with old router, and keep the govee as a back up, thanks for your help
Hello, great video, thanks for the details! The lamp from the left side is a Philips signe? Does it work in a gradient way with the syncbox or it shows just one color at the time?
Thanks ot works in a gradient way
@@GeekStreet thanks a lot. I also saw your govee lyra review. Would you go with Philips with syncbox or govee combo?
@dynamikr tough one as we are still waiting for Govee to release a hdmi 2.1 syncbox. Personally govee have better developed their eco system of lights better than Philips Hue but the full room immersion and quality of lighting given off sways me more towards Philips Hue at this moment in time.
Does this work with a projector or just a TV?
Yes it can work for a projector
Will this work with a soundbar?
How much latency does it add to the output 9
does it support eARC?
Yes
Sterling review, thx pal.
its nice, but the effect is very distracting when watching anything video related. The static mode is much better.
syncbox ,
my the older one (less than 6 months) keeps fucking up on my apple tv everytime I turn it on after like 25 minutes the input goes blank like if I unplugged it and its annoying a f.
ony my c3.
If you have a Samsung TV that the Philips hue app is so much better as an option.
Should it be plugged into eArC?
@@sajismael no just a standard hdmi port use eArc if you have a soundbar
Am I the only one thinking the syncing can be actually a bit distracting? Thinking about getting them now but just for the scenes (without the sync box) and the fact I can activate them by voice through Siri.
How'd you get a black ps5?
I'm triggered by you having those consoles horizontal......😬
Not supporting Native apps from the TV is a major downside...
DOES IT ALLOW FOR DISPLAY LED DOLBY VISION OR NOT????
@Boyer316 yes it does
@@GeekStreet that's interesting, does the new Govee box?
@@Boyer316 yes
Good, opens up the possibility of upgrading from Fancyleds because that box only allows for Player Led.
