Hello! Not in a position to buy a boat...but I DID buy 2 cans of Dinte Moore shepards pie! One has already gone the way of destination reached and the other shall come to dinner this Sunday next. Wonderful stuff. Enjoy the videos mixed variety and your pals are (the 's' is for the pooch) a great contribution to the channel! Following seas, Captain, enjoy the ride.
It’s great to see these classic designs...I kept thinking about how the Schock Lido 14 borrowed design elements...tiller through the stern, seating in the cockpit, centerboard....But the bottom of that wood mast, with the outward notch....reminds me of my old Snowbird, #509. Thank you so much! TJ
I agree that round thing is a plug for the boom crutch. To me $25,000 seems like a lot of money for that boat, especially since I can't live on it. Heck, that's more than I paid for my first house. That said, it is a neat little boat. Keep the good stuff coming Captain.
As JP Morgan once said “if you need to ask the price of a boat, you can’t afford it”. $25,000 is a reasonable price for this boat, so I guess you can’t afford it
Captain I’ve been catching up on videos I’ve missed from you guys. But this episode just lit the light bulb. There isn’t a single person that I have ever listened to that knows more about sailboats, their designers and the history of their use than you. You are a walking, talking sailing resource. Every episode is an enjoyable lesson. Thank you. Any man that knows Dinty Moore is the bread of life is one worth listening to.
@@YachtHunters In Raleigh NC. You inspired me to start a refit of a Swan 47 MKII recently. She is currently in MD. She should be ready come spring and we’ll move her to homeport in Southport NC…If it’s too late in the season (hurricane season)we may slide her up to Maine. But seriously Captain Q I’ve been sailing a long time, mostly transoceanic singlehanded and never have I met anyone with your depth of knowledge on sailboats and more important than knowing you can also explain in an entertaining way what you know. I learn something new EVERY TIME I watch one of your videos. Without fail. Thank you
Great to see the day sailor. Such variety with the intent of each of the daysailors that make these reviews interesting. Who would have guessed a boat designed with a grandmother in mind.
Awesome video captain Q this boat has beautiful lines it would be great if maybe you could do a video on the Canadian built Vandestadt and Mcgruer siren 17 daysailer since I am planning to buy one. Thank you so much for all your knowledge we are all learning so much about sailing and sailboats.
I have a fiberglass Doughdish which is a faithful copy of Nat’s original full-keel design. A day to tape, a day to sand, and a day to varnish. Three days to sail the prettiest boat on the bay all season long.
I always enjoy your videos. I learn something new each episode. If Ran-day loves to ride bicycles, he should come visit MO and ride the Katy. Fair winds Captain Q.
Another beautiful boat! I could swear that Sea Dog was reading the cover of your Soundings magazine! She is one smart dog and so obedient! Thank you Captain Q and Ran-Day! I think that round, covered piece is so you can hide a small can of Dinty Moore from the guests on board.
Yep for pad. Right at place you show it. Lovely detail. My favorite small craft. I have Building the Haven 12 and a Half book for Mr. White and the plans. Someday... Got this at Mystic Seaport. Please visit there! They have so many wonderful classic vessels!
You fine gentlemen constantly out do yourselves! Yet another gem! You guys are spoiling us! I so look forward to Thursdays as I learn so much! I am currently in the market for a bluewater boat in the mid 30’ range. How can I get your input and advice?
I look forward to this every week. Nice boat. Nice to see a day sailer. We have an old Pearson Ensign we enjoy for day sailing. Speaking of Soundings Magazine, check out the November issue. You'll see a story on our Jarvis Newman power boat Hallelujah! Keep up the great work!
If I’m not mistaken, Capt’n Nat called this design the Buzzards Bay Boys Boat. And yes, having sailed Buzzards Bay for some 35 years, the conditions can be quite snotty. So, one needs a boat that is quite worthy with much shear to deal with the afternoon hurricane with its 6 ft squayah, breaking seas. The 12&1/2 fits the bill. Nice boat Cap!
Lovely wee boat! Took me a long time to work out 'Herres-hoff' instead of 'Herre-shoff', but see you're still saying the latter. And surely some of those brass fittings are bronze?
Check out Quisset Harbor in Falmouth Mass (Buzzards Bay). They must have the biggest fleet of 12 1/2's anywhere as well as 5 or so Herreshoff S class boats. I'm grateful that people care about keeping these classics on the water.
If you like the concept but don’t want to worry about damaging anything or doing heavy annual effort and $ ids important then look for s dough-dish you cape cod boat works you’ll have a ball
Definitely a museum or showroom piece of art...way too nice and expensive to ever think of putting it into a body of water you could not drink from. Perfect for someone with a really really big house and a really really big fireplace that this could be mounted over...bonus...you wouldn't need the extra oar.
Just so you know that I like you guys, I’m a Texas hillbilly with no intentions of going to NE to buy a sailboat. Best wishes. I would like to go sailing some day.
Disadvantage-it probably won’t point as well upwind. More parts/expense. Advantage: more sail area downwind. And it looks cooler! Some are Marconi rigged.
Captain Q and Randays video's always take me away to a pleasant daydream, far from the crazy world!
This boat makes me cry it's so gorgeous and perfect.
It's a plug for the boom crutch, so you don't have a hole in the sundeck when you remove the crutch.
That plug is for the critics of course! Why would someone downvote this? Captain Q and Ran-day, keep up the good work. Love your content.
I concur. We have a winner!
Thanks! Will do!
All three beautiful ,you and Rd ,plus the 12 1/2... Thanks again...
Thank you too!
Nice job Capt. Q, Randay and Sea dog!
The plug would be for the hole in the cushion where the boom crutch goes through.
Came here to say the same thing

The cylindrical piece is to “plug” the hole in the cushion left by the boom crutch !!

Really a beautiful boat. Thanks for posting and sharing.
I learned to sail in a Bullseye in Seal Harbor Maine. Brings back memories 😃
Wonderful day sailor, great starter for sharing anyone’s love for sailing .love it ⛵️⛵️⛵️🥰

The Art of boat building probably would like this one.
Nice variety here. Superb craftsmanship.
I love the lines and the roomy cockpit, the yearly brightwork is overwhelming.

should have been a 28! more like that PLEASE!!!!!
I had an H28 in Auckland, a ketch. Wonderful boat!
One oar on 12 1/2s. Other hand on the tiller. Two oar locks so you can row from either side. Beautiful boat.
You actually skull these boats and don't row them per se...
You are correct!
Well?? It would be tough to skull with an oar lock midship! There is no skulling notch aft. So…negative.
Just bought a 12pk of Dinty Moore beef stew from Amazon. Thank you! Very tasty!
You fine gentlemen constantly out do yourselves!

Absolutely beautiful boat.
I would be so scared to scratch it...!!! A real art-piece.
In the long run the scars tell how much you have used snd loved it
@@YachtHunters also true
A sheet of 320 grit and a little Epifanes will do wonders in minutes.
What a neat boat 👍🏻
Don't refrain from hitting those thumbs up!! Even the thumbs down are counted by UA-cam as points for the Captain !!!
Gorgeous little boat!!
Man these small boat explorations are fun. Keep going, lets see a welsford navigator!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Really fun, thanks
love it! and in the winter you can put it in your living room and have a great time with your salty mates! aaargghh
Beautiful little boat!
O weird I got a notification for this video, but I think this was last weeks? Thursdays are the best days haha, looking forward to next video!
Hope you enjoyed it!
@@YachtHunters Oh I see this week's video! HAPPY DAYS!! :D
Hold the DM its clam bake time on the eastern shore with Granny! Beautiful boat.
Poor Capt. Q's chiropractor is going hungry this week. No adjustment needed with no small v-berth to contort into. Great stuff guys!!!

I love tis show
AKA "Buzzard's Bay Boys Boat". Best from Quissett Harbor, home of many 12 1/2"s.
Haven 12.5 has a lead keel! The centerboard pivots through a slot in the lead keel.
Love this boat!
If you do need another oar, might I suggest buying from The Best Little Oarhouse in Texas.
Hahaha 😝
Lovely wee boat! Took me a long time to work out 'Herres-hoff' instead of 'Herre-shoff', but see you're still saying the latter. And surely some of those brass fittings are bronze?

Bronze they are.

I believe that Deering Harbor on Shelter Island (NY) holds the fleet title for class-accepted 12 1/2’s.
What would be the easiest 12'5 used model to find and most affordable? I like the size for my first boat but 25k is way too high for me

Oh my! So very special. Can Sea Dog work the lines?
Sweet !
The foam plug might be a filler in the cushion when the boom crutch is removed.
I think that plug fills in the boom clutch
crutch
Typo, thanks for the help Mr. helper
The Haven does have a lead keel, nearly 600 pounds!
Hello nice boat. Saludos
Have you ever considered doing a review of a Marshall catboat?
If we could find one we would for sure
Thank you for asking
"OAR Anywhere " !!🤣🤣🤣😂
We crack ourselves up too lol
It's a cover for the can of Dinty Moore's. Emergency underway meal.
Jiboom, Jiboom, shananananananana, Jiboom, Jiboom
Ha ha Ha ha ha I love it shabum shabum to you too
My wife still floats after 65 years making her a 10
lol
tiss a plug for the boom crutch.....
Would this be manageable for a midget to sail?
Wrap it up, its got my name on it!
I say:
It floats - 10
Style and design - another 12 - I guessed 22
REVIEW A CATBOAT CAPTAIN Q!
Will do
A lovely boat, but she's priced for two of them.
What is the advantage/disadvantage of a gaff rigged mainsail?
Disadvantage-it probably won’t point as well upwind. More parts/expense.
Advantage: more sail area downwind. And it looks cooler! Some are Marconi rigged.
You can quickly scandalize the main in a blow by dropping the peak halyard. Also, less heel in more wind.
Since everyone already said it is a boom crutch hole plug, I won't repeat them... wait, did I just...
😜
Surrounded by comedians 🙄
That must be one large living room😂😂😂
Grandpa boat
In anticipation of taking the grandkids out and starting the psychosis of the next generation.
H 12/12 lead is 735 pounds.
You could never use it for fear of scratching it up.
It’s too raise the tiller
I just turned 70, we all know an "Oar or 2, "
Very pretty but I'd would say it's a little pricey myself . . . .
Have a new one built for $3,000 to $4,000 a foot! Or you could take 10 years to build your own? It’s fairly priced.
Vello that means Arrow in Greek
Also means Sail and fast!
Oh no. Not again! I need a life! ;)
