Congratulations on the new pen! It's amazing what a difference ink and paper can make on the writing experience. I guess I'm fortunate that I had many good experiences with my pens before I experienced the first hiccup. I might have gotten discouraged otherwise.
gadgetstop321 Thank you! That’s a great point; if I’d had the same experience earlier on I would’ve been far more disappointed. Was considering sending it to a nibsmith for smoothing but I noticed today it feels much smoother on Tomoe River. I think I’m just going to keep writing and see how I feel about it later. I found out about Adenture Denali from Carrots & Olive's UA-cam channel, love them both. Loved your story, so cute. I am a fountain pen newbie trying not to go down the rabbit hole, ha! Great story 👏I loved the unique southern saying and your poor husband "buy 3" 😂Ooo and I am a little envious of your cursive (not messy imo) We were not taught cursive at school in New Zealand so cursive is not our default writing style. I am trying to embrace my tiny scrawl tho and not give up on using my fountain pens.
Ora DoubleU Thanks Ora! I’m glad you got a kick out of the Southern expression 🤣 When I was a kid, cursive handwriting was part of our school curriculum in the 2nd grade. Unfortunately that changed over the years, and it’s not longer taught here now (at least where we live). My boys are 12/14/16 yrs old and they all write in print.
@@papermademedoit That's such a shame it's no longer taught there anymore too. I think cursive looks so much more 'grown up' than printing - it's like writing for the smart people 😅
How do you feel about this pen today? Asking, because I just placed an order for one this evening (great price, couldn't pass it up!).
I'm very happy with it today! The nib smith I was planning to use is not currently taking orders, so I never sent it off for any nib work like I had initially planned. After writing with it for some months it seems to have smoothed out a bit on its own, and I have no complaints. Congrats & hope you enjoy your purchase!
Loved the story, I’ve had the same experience with ink in various pens, it definitely does make a difference. Vaness Pens carries a product that you can add to inks that write on the dry side, it’s allows the ink to flow smoother. I plan to purchase it the next time I see them at a pen show, I was planning to go to the DC show but I’m not sure if it will happen this year. Is that a Texas accent I’m detecting?

Go Tigers! I went to LSU and lived in Baton Rouge as a student and the again after I was married for a couple of years. I miss Mike Anderson’s Restaurant, or College town Seafood as it was known back in the day. :-)
