- Jonathan Weinberg of Drawing with Fountain Pens reviews his favorite favorite fountain pen, the Pelikan M800 in two different models and he does a short history and overview of its various cousins, including the M1000 and M600. He uses a M800 with a cursive italic nib modified by John Mottishaw of Nibs.com to draw some zinnias and dahlias.

For more information about the history of Pelikan and its pens I strongly recommend the website of Joshua E. Danley, thepelikansper...
There also is a wealth of information about seemingly every Pelikan pen model ever made at www.pelikan-co...
The Gentleman's Gazette also has a really great introduction to Pelikan at www.gentlemans...
One question: Doesn’t bother you the gold plated ring near the section, prone to easy wear off. I’ve read some complaints about it. Beautiful pen nevertheless.
The pen is 26 years old with no problem but perhaps that is why they got rid of it in the new version. It was meant to be a luxury item and not something you stick in your pants pocket. I have heard that the ring around the collar can corrode but so far I have been lucky. You have to take good care of your pens!
After I fill my Pelikans I rinse the excess ink off of the nib collar, an extra step to be sure but corrosion has not been a problem.
So far has not been a problem and the pen is used and decades old.
Green or blu?
Thank you so much for your comment. I agree, although I think the M600 is pretty nice. However, the larger nibs do make a difference!
M800 vs M1000?
I think the m800 is the perfect size but the m1000 is terrific and the nib writes very smoothly.
