Simon pegg is such a nice man. My Daughter went to Alton Towers this year 2023 and they were walking to the first ride and there he was with Wife and Kiddies, so she said hello and he said come on let's have a Photo. His Wife was fine about it. What an Extra Happy day it was. Thankyou Mr Simon Pegg.
Fun fact. Pubs in Britain have funny names because back in the old days a lot of people couldn’t read so pubs had different distinctive signs so people could then communicate about the place without knowing the actual names.
Fun but not really a fact. The truth is that pub names are locality, folklore, myths, local legends, etc. Though SOME of them are named after the basic depictions of their signage. It's not necessarily because of literacy.
A lot of people ask "what's up with the sword at the end?" Of course he has a sword. And not a sword, THE sword. Because the King, as foretold, has returned in the time of Britain's greatest need, and has once again taken up his sword. Yes, this is an Arthurian story (confirmed by the writers). They even have references in the dialogue to the Arthurian legends at various points in the dialogue. Reinforcing the whole medieval link are the names of the characters: King, Prince, Knightley, Chamberlain, Page. The blanks at the end aren't musketeers, they're the first of the new Knights of the Round Table.
The lady on the left of Simon Pegg at the AA meeting is Mary from Shaun of the dead, the lady in the garden. There’s loads of reappearances from other actors in the trilogy & Martin from Benidorm!
After this movie, you two might like "PAUL", again with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. It also stars Sigourney Weaver and Kristen Wiig. In a similar theme to World's End alien takeover, a truly terrifying film is 1978s INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS.
Other fun variants on the story are the 1994 film adaptation of the story that probably inspired Body Snatchers, R.A.Heinleins "The Puppet Masters", amusingly enough starring Donald Sutherland, who was in the '78 version of Body Snatchers, and the 1998 Robert Rodriguez movie "The Faculty", starring a whole host of '90s teen stars, plus Famke Janssen, Robert Patrick, Salma Hayek, and Jon Stewart. Both Puppet Masters and Body Snatchers are referenced in the dialogue.
I will say, all three movies are brilliant for rewatching. Even when you know the plot, there are countless little details - countless set ups and payoffs - that make rewatching these films 20 times or more thoroughly enjoyable.

This was filmed in the next town to me. So glad you reacted to this one, it gets crapped on a lot because the other 2 are so strong, but I think it's probably my favourite of the trilogy. Maybe it's the themes, the fact that I'm the right age for it to tie into the nostalgia of my youth, I don't know, just something connects with me in this movie.
This is my favourite of the three. The "It's all I've got!" breaks me every time, especially once you notice the bandages on his wrists, or the fact that he was the only one that didn't bring any luggage...
Yeah, my favorite too. The first couple of times I thought it went downhill a little when the aliens plot was fully revealed but into the 4+ watch I like the ending more each time. This probably had the most character stuff of all three though obviously I enjoyed all three.
You should watch 'Paul' next. It feels like it should be in the Cornetto series at times, it isn't, but is good and has the Frost and Pegg buddy thing going on.
I think now is the perfect time for you and queen boomer to discover the comedy sketch show Big Train. It stars Simon Pegg, Mark Heap and a couple more comedy actors you'll recognise. The show was written by the creators of Father Ted. It's a hugely underrated sketch show and it ticks all the boxes for you both. I gaurantee you'll love it!
All three of the Cornetto trilogy are the perfect rewatch movies because you realise something new. Like how is worlds end almost every background car is exactly the same model, like the collective and that every blank is wearing something blue
Pierce Brosnan is from my hometown, he really is a lovely guy. Seen him around a few times when he comes back to visit family. One Christmas I was in the pub and he came in for a drink with his cousins and bought a round for the whole pub.
Great reaction! I love the little details in the movie altough Garys character was really sad. He wanted to end his life (bandages on the wrists, therapy) and wanted to have his best night for one more time again. He wasn't shaved in the beginning since they wouldn't allow razors in the facility, once he got over it he has a clean shave again. Many little hints throughout.
World's End is great. Loved your reactions. Hot Fuzz is still the British favourite. I think because it is a perfect take on British villages. 😂 Infinitely quotable. You need to watch it at least 20 times in order to spot the easter eggs and jokes. So clever.
I knew Simon Pegg was a great actor when I saw him for the first time as the manager of a rival bookstore in Black Books. You guys should definitely check it out.
Love this as much as the other two. Was itching to see how you'd react to the blanks turning up. Gotta suggest Simon Pegg in Run Fatboy Run and Nick Frost in Cuban Fury. Both great comedies from the lads.
@@therunawaykid6523 Nick Frost is fantastic in it. Plus Olivia Colman and Chris O'Dowd are in fine form. I think it's underrated. I also love Craig Ferguson in Born Romantic (2000) which has just about every Brit comedy actor popping up including the lovely Paddy Considine once again.

The pub crawl can be rite of passage in the UK, certainly was when I grew up, my local small town had a population of around 6-7,000 back in the late 80's/ early 90's but boasted 27 pubs the challenge back then was to go in as many as possible and have a shot ot pint in each.
Most of this one was filmed in my town & the neighbouring one's. They're a lot less bleak then the film makes them seem ha I remember watching them shooting it & it's still weird to watch the film & see them in my old school, walking around the town & in the local pubs. Some bits of Hot Fuzz were also filmed here. Simon Pegg lives a few minutes away & has done for many years. I remember Tom Cruise landing his helicopter in Pegg's garden a while back. Strange world.
It's also noticeable that the first two movies slowly descend into madness, whereas this one literally changes on the snap of a neck. Also, if you can get a James Bond in your movie, why wouldn't you.
Paul is great too. For more Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, and much more JIM from Friday Night Dinner, watch Spaced. It's gold. Anyone else out there agree?
Hot Fuzz set the bar so high it was always gonna be a tough act to follow. I like it though and I have to say I think Gary King is my favourite Pegg character of the series.
I think this character is the most relatable,, that teenager and the kid before it never leaves us we just supress them,, The tragic part is him trying to be a part of society but never truly believing in it. I think we can all relate to that. The end is brilliant, hes finally able to let go and be a guidance to the others.
The first thing I saw with Simon Pegg was a channel 5 sketch show called We Know Where You Live!! It was the funniest sketch show ever I really wish I could see it again. I love your channel by the way.. Much love from England 🧡
You gotta watch "Spaced" it's where the cornetto trilogy spawned from, there's many similarities and familiar faces in it and if you liked Shaun of the Dead most you'll love spaced there's even a partly zombie-based episode 👌 quality stuff
I think the traffic cop is played by Steve Oram who, with Alice Lowe, starred in a film called "The sightseers" , a dark comedy which I definitely recommend!
I can think of: a cornetto/ wrapper The plot of the movie cleverly sneeked into lines in the film said by the main character Funny creative editing Hilarious scripts A banging soundtrack
Whenever I think of the phrase "peaked in high school", Gary King is the first thing that springs to mind. Definetly the film with the most feeling out of the Cornetto trilogy in my opinion.
The barman you were delighted to see is Mark Heap who played the artist Brian who lived downstairs in Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg's sitcom Spaced. They had tried for 2 films to get him but he was always busy.
After the last one I said Red Cornetto for Sean of the Dead (blood). Blue Cornetto for Hot Fuzz (police) and couldn't tell you why Green Cornetto for this one... (aliens) Genius
If you rewatch the first few minutes where Gary describes the pub crawl that he and his friends went on when they were kids, it pretty much describes the plot of the movie regarding the adult pub crawl. i.e. O-Man disappears after the 5th (?) pub, Gary and Sam going into the bathroom, the remaining friends ending up on the hill overlooking the town with a red glow in the sky, etc.
There was also a Bond Girl in this movie:- The sister of Oliver Chamberlain (played by Martin Freeman), Sam Chamberlain, (Played by Rosamund Mary Ellen Pike), was the Bond Girl, Miranda Frost, in Die Another Day, (2002), Rosamund Mary Ellen Pike, (born 1979) is a British actress. She began her acting career by appearing in stage productions such as Romeo and Juliet and Gas Light. After her screen debut in the television film A Rather English Marriage (1998), she received international recognition for her film debut as Bond girl Miranda Frost in Die Another Day (2002), for which she received the Empire Award for Best Newcomer. Following her breakthrough, she won the BIFA Award for Best Supporting Actress for The Libertine (2004) and portrayed Jane Bennet in Pride & Prejudice (2005). 🇬🇧😎👍🏼
As always, I am sure I have seen this film a few times but I am blessed with not very good total recall at movies, just a general recollection I have seen them and if I liked them or not. Seeing this with friends in the room laughing along together was a joy. Please do not ever underestimate what a little sparkle that can bring into some folks lives. Always a pleasure to laugh along with you guys. xx
I think Daniel Craig was the best James Bond, but my favourite was George Lazenby. The keen eyed amongst you will have noticed that the girl sitting next to Simon Pegg in the therapy group is none other than Mary, the first zombie Simon and Nick had to deal with, in the garden in Sean of the Dead.
Love the film and love the reaction video! Me and my boys went to as many of them pubs ( that actually exist) as possible a few years ago! Locations only down the road from us in Letchworth and Welyn Gardens city
Since its an Edgar Wright film it has an incredibly subtle detail in the background that gives away the storyline. When Gary pulls up at the train station he's Infront of a billboard for a car called a Vauxhall Ampera and the town is also full of them. Its the European version of the Chevy Volt and over its 3 years of availability in Europe it sold less than 10'000 units. We saw a piece of moderately impressive technology and rejected it much like we rejected the network in the film.
Eddie Marsan is his name, a fantastic actor. And the barman who's also in Friday Night Dinner is Mark Heap. I strongly suggest you watch every comedy show Mark Heap has appeared in - him and Kevin Eldon are the keys to unlocking a treasure trove of ground-breaking shows.
All 3 films are great but this is my personal favourite. Glad you got so many references, please look into reacting to the series space where all these films were born out of. Also loved the queen's reaction to the initial blank reveal!
Had lots of fun watching you guys react to this. I think it is really underrated. For me, Hot Fuzz is best, then (a bit controversially) this one, then Shaun of the Dead. The whole Cornetto trilogy is great. Fantastic writing, acting and directing.
We used to do around the world at uni, each room in the dorm would be a different country. So that room would purchase a bottle of whatever booze comes from that country and then decorate the room accordingly...could only leave and move to the next room when the bottle was finished. There were a lot of rooms lol...holy shit...surprised no one died lol
I only just noticed that the girl sat next to him at the AA meeting in the beginning is the girl who played the zombie in the garden they threw records at from Shaun of the Dead!
You like history, and the reason places have names, KB, so you'll be interested to know that pubs (often on the site of old coaching inns) took the name 'The Cock' not after a rooster, but a horse which was added to a carriage to help get it over the ridge of a steep hill. And it takes 21 seconds to piss. Pretty much every animal take the same time to release their bladder. Maybe that's what the 'So Solid Crew's song was about. (21 Seconds To Go).
I love watching reactors when they get to the pub toilet scene and WTF-ness ensues!!! Great reaction to my personal fave Cornetto flick. Side note O-man's sister Sam is played by Rosamond Pike, she also starred as a Bond Girl in one of your favourite Peirce Brosnan Bond films 'Die another Day' too. If you want to see Nick Frost kicking off and fighting properly watch AMC's 'Into the Badlands' a really underrated postapocalyptic show.
I hated this when I first saw it. Quite like it now though. I watched it last month and only just noticed the checkout girl/zombie from Shaun sitting next to Gary when he's in the group circle 😂 Edit: also JUST realized the guy in the pub who says 'Robotnik' is Martin from Benidorm! 😂😂
The Three Flavours Cornetto (A.K.A the Cornetto Trilogy) could also be called The Fence Trilogy as each movie has a wood fence jumping sequence (it goes the same way in Shaun of the Dead and The World's End, fence collapses as Simon Pegg's character tries to jump the fence)
Seen all the cornetto films so many times, only just noticed that the lady he is sat next to in the group session is the zombie from his garden in SOTD
And the moral of the story is .... never read a preview of a movie unless you want to ruin all the surprises. The looks on your two faces when the first robo-alien's head came off were priceless.
I really enjoyed that moment when you guys were relaxed, chatting about stuff right up to moment when Gary knocked the blanks head off in the gents toilet - I knew, and was waiting for it - you guys suddenly had your attention grabbed !! well & truly 🙂
I love this film especially: “That’s a good name for a band you should right that down” “Hey Oman!” “Let’s boo boo!” Just such good snappy script writing Pegg and frost just work so well together
World's End, like the other two in the trilogy has more than just plot for re-watch reasons. It has tons of references and clever foreshadowing, running gags from the other two films and go back and pay attention to the names and styles of the pubs. Old familiar was the same as the first pub as it was a dejavu joke, King's Head was where King was unconscious for a bit and had a head injury. World's End was the pub that caused... The world's end... Etc..
The pub names are symbolic of the plot points.
The First Post - it's the first pub
The Old Familiar - because it's identical to the first.
The Famous Cock - where Gary is first recognised
The Cross Hands - where the gang first really come together
The Good Companions - where they all agree to pretend to be friends having a night out
The Trusty Servant - Gary tries to confide in Reverend Green
The Two-Headed Dog - where they fight the twins
The Mermaid - where they meet 'sirens' who try to seduce them
The Beehive - where the Network's "hive" motivation is established
The King's Head - where we get into Gary's 'head' and his problems
The Hole in the Wall - Andy makes a literal hole as he drives into the pub
The World's End - self explanatory.
‘Steven’ drives into the pub, not Andy.
To add to this
The famous cock - Gary is barred from for acting like a cock
The crossed hands - The first fight, they cross hands with blanks.
The trusty servant - They learn of the human servants to the blanks, also showing the blanks are not robots because they aren't servants.
The beehive - more literally they kicked the beehive and got swarmed
The kings head - Gary had to use his head in the smokehouse to prove he is human

Paul is great too. For more Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, and much more JIM from Friday Night Dinner, watch Spaced. It's gold. Anyone else out there agree?
I'm sure they'd love SPACED, I agree.
Literally just noticed at 6:31, that's Mary (the girl in the garden) from Shaun of the dead, you were right about the cameo's.
'Are there any more movies in this trilogy?'......😆 don't ever change Queen Boomer
It's so fun watching people's reactions to the bathroom scene when they have no idea what is coming. :)
By far the best of the trilogy imo, think the bias of it being the last one got people favouring the others but this one is just finessed maximally
Yeah I love the funny script and the different character’s reacting to one another
Now you have seen the whole trilogy it would be good to see you both react to a video about the things that appear in all 3 movies!
I can think of:
a cornetto/ wrapper
The plot of the movie cleverly sneeked into lines in the film said by the main character
Funny creative editing
Hilarious scripts
A banging soundtrack
@@therunawaykid6523 The fence jumping scene is also in all 3
@@Ashdown212 ahh yes forgot about that one
Whenever I think of the phrase "peaked in high school", Gary King is the first thing that springs to mind.
Definetly the film with the most feeling out of the Cornetto trilogy in my opinion.
Now these 3 amazing films are done. Spaced is a must. Same director and cast.
They are both in a series from awhile back called Spaced. I love it
The barman you were delighted to see is Mark Heap who played the artist Brian who lived downstairs in Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg's sitcom Spaced. They had tried for 2 films to get him but he was always busy.
After the last one I said Red Cornetto for Sean of the Dead (blood). Blue Cornetto for Hot Fuzz (police) and couldn't tell you why Green Cornetto for this one... (aliens)
Genius
If you rewatch the first few minutes where Gary describes the pub crawl that he and his friends went on when they were kids, it pretty much describes the plot of the movie regarding the adult pub crawl. i.e. O-Man disappears after the 5th (?) pub, Gary and Sam going into the bathroom, the remaining friends ending up on the hill overlooking the town with a red glow in the sky, etc.
There was also a Bond Girl in this movie:-
The sister of Oliver Chamberlain (played by Martin Freeman), Sam Chamberlain, (Played by Rosamund Mary Ellen Pike), was the Bond Girl, Miranda Frost, in Die Another Day, (2002),
Rosamund Mary Ellen Pike, (born 1979) is a British actress.
Always a pleasure to laugh along with you guys. xx
Pierce brosnan is 1 of the best irish actors around
Queen boomer looks damn fine for someone that's brewing a small muppet..
Blonde one, the sister is also in James Bond Die Another Day
Since its an Edgar Wright film it has an incredibly subtle detail in the background that gives away the storyline.
You guys absolutely need to watch Spaced now based on how excited you were to see certain people 👀
Nobody in my house can ask anyone want anything ftom the shop without someone shouting cornetto. Love the cornetto trilogy.
THE ACTOR Kevin Eldon, please..😉
Green Wing!
Same for me. World's End has a lot of depth.
30:58...Alabama Song is by Bertolt Brecht & Kurt Weill and this version is a cover by The Doors found on their debut album.
Great movie .I actually went to school where they filmed the pub crawl in Welwyn Garden City which is a few miles north of London.
I watched it last month and only just noticed the checkout girl/zombie from Shaun sitting next to Gary when he's in the group circle 😂
Edit: also JUST realized the guy in the pub who says 'Robotnik' is Martin from Benidorm!
Love the line "Get in your rocket and fuck off back to legoland."
This was filmed in the town i was born, all the pub names were changed for ages , even the train station had a pub sign
You should definitely watch spaced, it's got Simon pegg, nick frost and the weirdo from friday night dinner.
What a strange world this is: I'm in Turkey, 4.am in the morning, enjoying two Americans reacting to a British movie :)
I love this film especially:
“That’s a good name for a band you should right that down”
“Hey Oman!”
“Let’s boo boo!”
Just such good snappy script writing
Pegg and frost just work so well together
Best in the trilogy, such a great screenplay, story, subtext and unique film , The Pegg Frost Wright formula hits every mark in this one.
L take
World's End, like the other two in the trilogy has more than just plot for re-watch reasons. Etc..
“I want Paddy Consodine to get some ass!” Quote of the century 😂
He's also in Mission impossible and band of Brothers, as well as a hella lot more.
35:04 If you love him, check out the show "Spaced" also with Nick Frost and Simon Pegg. Absolutely legendary show.
