"The Art of Dying" is like a piece of art you can't believe exists, so wonderful song, unbelievable
hypster
must listen to it every single day
Art of Dying is a goddamn titan of a track. Felt like my balls exploded the first time hearing it.
i'm sure the masturbation had nothing to do with this.
Man, it's just so intense. The screams always make me shiver and oh god that percussion
That's the way of all balls when listening to Gojira
Dat is da feeling
I won't bring my balls to the afterlife.
How did I exist 59+ years without this in my life? OMG so happy I discovered GOJIRA no matter what
Well they didn't exist till your like late 30's so there's that lol.
Grandpa of Death Metal! So cool =D
Yeahhh Sir! 🤘
I 47 and my friend told me you will crank it he died 7 weeks later...I will never give this up ...🤘🍻🤘
You still rockin' old man? Been 5yrs
This band has really refreshed metal music
the way of all refreshed metal music I guess
prog metal and doom metal battled it out in the early 90's, then came Gojira in the 2000's
remade, my man
they invented new
this album is my favorite metal album ever. not because its brutal, fast, or heavy. but because it balances all of them while delivering a surprisingly good message that, no matter how many times i listen to it still makes me think
I was listening to Opeth on autoplay and this album came on.
I don't regret it.
Same here
I WAS LISTEN TO GOJIRA AND OPETH CAME ON
I DONT REGRET IT
Gojira and Opeth, two of the best bands ever
@@martinsolvang8230 tru dat
Agreed. I love the harmony of Opeth and all their glory.
Gojira's sound is like Opeth meets Mastodon but heavier
I think I can say without a doubt, this is my favorite album of all time. Been listening to it almost every day for the last 2 years.
saw them live been listening to them almost everyday ever since i feel you
the bass in "a sight to behold" is mindblowing
The vocals too!
Love it in that song, but think it really stands out in All the Tears
@@Wernershnitzl yeah, it's really powerful in the prechorus
Yama’s messengers is such an underrated track, its so fucking heavy
Yes!
Fuck yeah!
that outro is ridiculous. amazing stuff
Released 15 years ago today. This album got me through some *bad* times.
Same. Much light and love to you 💜
Same too
I'm really leaning on it right now with the passing of my rock'n'roll father-in-law 4 weeks ago. I thought I knew what hard times were but no Vietnam Veteran passes with out leaving a huge wake behind them. Largest funeral I've ever seen. He requested ACDC For Those About to Rock instead of his 21 gun salute.
Now THIS is an album done right. To me, every single song is memorable for whatever reason. But there's just something about "Art Of Dying"... I can't spend an entire day without listening to it!
I...can't believe...It's taken nine years to discover this album....It's...so...beautiful.
OkitaXx xXAngel It's never too late to discover goodness. 🤘
OkitaXx xXAngel I discovered it today what the fuc have I been doing I've heard of them before just never gave them a chance until this week
You sound like William Shatner!
this is their best work in my opinion. although from mars to sirius is objectively superior as it is a flawless concept album i enjoy the songs in this album better. they’re heavier and just different
"objectively superior"
they reached their peak with this one. Simply amazing, arrangeament wise and production wise
100000% AGREED 🎯💘🧨
I still think From Mars to Sirius is the peak, but you can't really go wrong with the listenable records era. This album was hard for me to get into and i initially wrote it off as a poor sterile from mars copy by numbers. Boy was I wrong. Roadrunner albums are another story....
@@cavanray6742 ua-cam.com/video/DGeN6CvYvpc/v-deo.html as a hc deathmetal fan I put GODZILLAera no1 🧨🤸♀️😽❣
@@cavanray6742 I know the roadrunner records are a little divisive among fans, especially the last two, but i still think Magma is a very decent record. It's got mostly meh songs but it also has The Shooting Star, the self-titled track, and Low Lands, which is definitely one of the best songs they ever wrote. To me these 3 songs were a genuine attempt (and success) at songwriting the way they used to. Aesthetically, they're different to their older catalogue, yes, but what made Gojira such a rewarding listening experience is all still present in these songs.
Fortitude is meh. And L'Enfant Sauvage is the biggest piece of shit they ever released in my eyes
@@thalamusDecimation Le'fat sausage is terrible. Why on earth did they ditch all the interesting elements?
Esoteric Surgery a hidden gem.
you have the power to heal yourself
Vacuity also
I was a child when I started to love Death and I was a man when Chuck died: I was sure to never feel same sensations in heavy metal.
Gojira is not simply a band: Gojira is a musical universe.
I've been into death for as long as I can think. I have seen them come and go. But still, Gojira might be the greatest we have right now!
Well said....Gojira>Life!
Mario's drums are really interesting, they compliment the guitars so well. That ride cymbal is doing miracles.
I know what You mean - especially in A Sight to Behold, the ride sounds like a miraculous healing
bell made of pure gold
Spot on dudes, one of the best uses of a ride cymbal on metal, A Sight to Behold and Toxic Garbage Island are good examples. Fantastic drumming.
Yeah, Mario's a great drummer! That ride reminds me of Chris Adler, in a good way
Thats why I like it ! Hes technical
Zildjian mega bell ride used to its full extent!
This album is a fucking masterpiece
Just started listening to Gojira. I'm blown away.
Steven Murray
I bet they help that Phenix glow a bit brighter, too even grow a bit stronger. ( did I spell Phenix right? Hmm )
Phoenix and yes, your damn right they do!
this is 4 th...but listen first = terra incognito ; 2 : link ; 3 : from mars to sirius.....3 bombe better than this one...
Steven Murray gojira hasnt made a bad song from the 4 records ive heard yet. they’re also fantastic live
I will be going to see them play in a few weeks, can't wait!
"The Way Of All Flesh" at the end is criminally underrated. Just listen to this part at 1:01:43
Best part of the album. Joe's singing is amazing and the lyrics are perfection
Holy shit Yama's Messengers is insane!
All The Tears is the first song I heard by Gojira and the sheer weight of the atmosphere and emotion they created hooked me. Music never made me feel like that before.
The art of dying is such a masterpiece!!!
First time listening to this band. I think my brain just exploded
Esoteric Surgery...so good!!
One of my favourites!, so underrated
That shit saved my life..."YOU HAVE THE POWER TO HEAL YOURSELF"
+Man whatever I love it really gives me ALL the HOPE
I know I know, just so good
Agree so fuckin good. My favorite.
this whole album is centered around the idea of reincarnation, think of the last song, the way of all flesh, its talking about the transition from life into "death" and then afterwards entering this space inbetween lives, which is the silence that follows after the main chunk of the song. then it transitions into this eerie sounding guitar part that goes on for a minute, which i think is representing the next life taking form. then if you have the album on repeat itll go back to oroborus which is the circle of life, representing a soul rediscovering its past and future, knowing that its been on this planet before. then all the songs inbetween are representing the strife that lifeforms on this planet tend to go through in a lifetime
Exactly! Love gOjira!!
There is so much aggression and beauty on this album, you can't help but hit play and just get lost in a different world.
I want "The Way of all Flesh" played at my funeral..... I can't believe I just discovered Gojira a few months aga...… Best thing in metal right now....
They are master of metal
the drumming is this is fucking savage
One of the best albums ever from one of the best bands ever. No one does it like Gojira.
I'll never get tired of hearing this. Man this album is a masterpiece, It's so great that.. I have no words.. Every fucking second of it is Amazing..
Totally
It's in my top 3 have no doubt.
Absolutely
My current obsession
Lifetime
Their best album. Perfection in my eyes
Wow... never listened this band. Its perfect... the whole album its a journey
This album still blows me away seriously. It's so good
Man, listening to Toxic Garbage Island takes me back. It was the first ever Gojira song I was introduced to. That was back in '08/'09, and my mate had come across Gojira a few weeks before. That song got me hooked on the style, and it has been so damn long since I had listened to the full thing since. Now I can lean back in my chair, put my feet up and just.. relax... and enjoy the music.
And... 5:43 what fucking power !!!!!
Fucking album opening track here !
Best part 37:08
That beginning intro.. Oroborus!
Oroborus is actually another metal band, if you are into that search 'em too.
I'm currently learning the song on guitar
my favorite album of theirs, by far
Andrea for me its from mars to sirius, but i love the way of all fresh
Here I am today.Just discovered this masterpiece 13 years later..As a guy that never was into that deth metal thing I gotta say...I loved it.This literally changed my perspective on this subgenre and I'm happy about it.
forgot how kick ass this entire album is from start to finish.. so many instant classic riffs ... what a truly outstanding piece of work by Gojira
i remember listening to this album in the 8th grade (2008/2009) and being completely blown away... fking badass musicianship right here, front to back and excellent album.
God these guys are just so awesome
The perfect album. From start to finish, everything is just perfect. This band is impeccable.
Their best album
Basically the entire album is a master piece, though their other albums are brillant.
This album never grows old. Still and by far way more powerful than most modern über produced metal releases lol
This is a classic. This album and Ashes of the wake by Lamb of God made me love metal again, after I've been bored by late 90's shit.
For me, the best metal record ever recorded. At least it's been the most influential for me
MeisterNes 💯 agree
Soundwise, especially.
U better start listening to metal then
@@joaosampaio4039 and what's your idea of the best metal record ever recorded then? Rust in Peace? Stop being so pretentious and let people have opinions
@@thalamusDecimation vulgar display of power, I'll go whit that one
I just recently got into Gojira, and I absolutely love their sound! Their guitars and style remind me of old school death metal, in particular of Morbid Angel -- I didn't think any modern metal bands still had this kind of sound!
Listen two first albumof Gojira ( Terra Incognita and The Link ) if you love death metal !
Vacuity is so good
Heard Vacuity on the Sirius metal channel during day 1 of my free 90 day trial after buying a truck. Immediately grabbed my attention and have been pouring over Gojira's catalog since. that was 5 days ago....as I hear new stuff (for me) I get hooked on a riff or a bridge and then put that song on repeat for a while. They have a damn impressive body of work. This album, Magma and from Mars are all awesome. thats as far back as Ive made it so far
@@otobustutkusu303No one honestly asked. And your taste is shit.
One of the very few Groove Metal bands I actually adored, there was something special in their music for me and I felt like it disappeared ever since Magma(personal opinion obviously). I wish the guys the very best though. I met them during the L'Enfant Sauvage tour and it was a delight, had quite a nice and lengthy chat with Mario before Joe went all HI I'M JOE like his baby bro was stealing all the attention.
Still got the signed deluxe edition of that album in my house.
I agree on Magma, I only really liked one or two songs. The other songs weren't bad but like you said. Fortitude I thought was OK when I first listened to it but then I lost interest. A couple months ago I thought I'd give Fortitude another shot and now I can't stop listening to it. It's brilliant, still different from their old stuff but almost every song grew on me the more I listened. Strength, Love and Solidarity.
Brothers playing guitar and drums together can do something that nobody else can do
It's a great album...
Happy 10th anniversary to this masterpiece !
I saw/heard Gojira at Tons of Rock. What a band. At the age of 60 I am now a big fan. Stay hard.
Love me some yama's messengers in the morning
Esteban B the drums! Insane man
How have I only discovered these gods now? 🖤 So clean
Album monumental...
I truly feel like this is the best metal album i have ever heard so far. Followed up by Death's Human.
i never felt goosebumps in the begining of a video in youtube !!!! this album smack my brain
Anyone else hear Sepultura vibes in this band? Loving this album
We drain the oceans, and suck all the blood out of the soil!
We spend the time we have left fighting and killing each other!
True as fuck!
The lyrics to Adoration of None, are truth.
💥👊😘🤘
I just discovered this album today I can't believe it has taken me this long to listen to them I even saw them open up for Metallica this summer they put on a great show I just didn't know the songs and now I'm really bummed out because they could have enjoyed it even more
I saw them in Seattle also this summer and it's the exact same feeling for me.
Ha, same for me, i wish i would have paid more attention when I saw them open for metallica like 6 years ago
I saw them in Seattle as well. My friend and I both started listening to them after the concert and we were both pissed we did not appreciate what they were doing on stage.
In 2010, I was listening to this album everyday morning, going to high school. The memories give me goosebumps. Basically it makes me very sad, because I had tons of friends back then, but it's also a great album.
i think the way of all flesh is the best album they ever made. Everything fits. great guitarrifs on the amazing drumrythms.
Este álbum es una obra maestra, sin dudas, es pesado, melódico, y con ideas nuevas, el punto más alto en la carrera de Gojira.
Can't stop listening to this. This is so amazing....
I literally cannot get enough of Adoration for None.
Randy adds so much aggression to the song, sad theyve never played it live with him on the opportunities they have had on stage together
@@austinplummer651 It's that one and The Art Of Dying like when everything dies down near the end of the song and they come out with that SICK ass riff dude my god.
The Silver Cord, sweet fresh melancholy.
No joke, this album gave me Tinnitus in my right ear
Do you or someone you know abuse death metal?
*pop song about love plays with imagery of teenagers headbanging in black and white slowed down*
Stay safe, stay with mid volume
Favourite Gojira album for sure. I get the hype surrounding From Mars to Sirius and The Link, but this is just magical
ESTA WEA ESTA DEMASIADA BUENA
si
como tu
Thank God for my tío Mario , Joe and GojiRA. They are truly the band to take Matal to the place it belongs, they give metal a touch of moderness, just the due respect metal deserves. Makes me happy to know Metal still got ground to pit forever.
This album has brought me outta some dark places and reminded me to keep strong
Fucking *Randy* *Blythe* from LoG did a song with Gojira!? I'm becoming more and more obsessed with this band since I saw them in October.
Top 5 metal albums of all time, easy.
True ✔️✔️🔥😎
They are soooooooo good live!
Michigan by chance? I almost didn't make the show, but I'm SO glad I did. They are awesome live!!
No no, I saw them in 2016 and 2014. Both times AMAZING! They put on a show. The song Pray is mind blowing live.
Saw them last year, best show I've ever attended. They display so much energy you can feel they are really enjoying it !
DerelictEarth Joe gave me a bottle of water at a show! Best water ever! But I should clarify it was a PLAAAAAAAAAAAAASTIIIIC bottle...
And so I've heard! I'm going to have to buy tickets for the concert their having closest to my home whenever their next concert is!
So many good albums to listen to that relate to this album or are progressive or groove metal. Just can't believe I recently discovered this album. Will have to like this and keep it on hold to listen to a second time.
wunderbar, wies sein soll!
still the best album. and will be. till the end. ACTUAL MASTERPIECE.
the moment the first track started I gripped my seat. What a ride this album holy..
Great French band !!
27:30 best thing i never heard
Jesus christ I keep forgetting how incredible the production is on this album
I found this band when I saw a video of their mosh pit. 10/10 want to got to a concert of theirs now
The drummer works like clockwork on Esoteric Surgery. Unbelievable!
Great sound!!
Some atmosphere was lost in the last piece of music due to the long silence being omitted.
the band as a whole is fantastic, but the vocal makes all the difference, sings a lot, sings very well ....
Do not be afraid, there's no way that you can stay here
Another 🤘 "MASTERPIECE"🤘
I just discovered this masterpiece ! But i'm searching for others groups like Gojira ( Noob in death metal :)), i love "The Sound of Perseverance" from DEATH too! Searching for that kind of beauty!
You'd probably like most of Meshuggah's albums. Gojira was heavily inspired by them in the rhythmic complexity of the songs and the less melodic riffs.
Ne Obliviscaris, Fallujah
Same here brotha haha
I don't like death metal, but i love Gojira !
Gojira took inspiration from latter Death (see early interviews to the Duplantier brothers) amongst others. If you like EU death metal, one of my long time favorites was also Decapitated (now gone downhill). Tool might also be your cup of tea
thanks :")
really cool sound
Love... love... much love... a lot of love and even more... for these guys!!!!
Sic circle.. Something amazing.. Over and over again..
Saw them live in San Diego. So good!
Skyerzen bet it was lit man
The art of Dying! Fucking Fuck Yes.
Masterpiece
I'm late on the Gojira train, just started listening to them, but the kick some serious ass
Love this band !!
