Hi Glen, great video, thanks for sharing. I really enjoy your presentation. I agree with everything you said about The Doors. I quite like Waiting for the Sun too. Interesting point about Meddle, not thought about that before, but I think you're right. Agree, Animals seems over rated, but I think it's ok, not bad. Division Bell is pretty good. I love most of Physical Graffiti . But can't agree with you about Houses of the Holy, I love that album. Keep up the good work 👍
Glen, you've got me super-excited! Were there really other people nominating Led Zeppelin for "Bands I Hate," or was it just me typing loudly? Yeah, 'Houses of the Holy' is kind of meh. The best thing about 'Presence' is the cover. I'm going to have to listen to 'Soft Parade.' Everyone says it is The Doors' worst album - the only one that wasn't a masterpiece, but I can't remember it. Maybe that is telling. I have the same problem with 'Topographical Oceans' that you have with 'Animals.' I tried, and I tried, and I tried, and I tried, but I can't get no satisfaction. I've never really caught onto 'Animals' either, even though I could see Battersea Power Station from my apartment back in 1978. I love 'The Final Cut,' though. Maybe all those commentators nominating Led Zeppelin for "Bands I Hate" will back me up on this one. All three of us. Or is it two? Or is it just me typing loudly?
"I hear a young girl crying from 3,000 miles away." Ian Hunter. Beautiful song. But you drove me to a few things here ... Firstly, 'Soft Parade.' For a band that rarely put a foot wrong, this is a pretty bad album. And then 'Meddle.' Well, 'Meddle' is 'Atom Heart Mother' backward. 'Atom Heart Mother' starts with this incredibly focused track whose beginning drives you dynamically to the end. And then you have some truly cute songs on Side 2. Whereas, 'Meddle' has some fairly dispensible songs on Side 1, followed by 26 minutes of 'Echoes' on Side 2, which is mostly a hot, disjointed mess until it coalesces under the lyrics for a grand finale. And somehow I ended up with Mark Knopfler's new album, 'One Deep River,' the best thing he has done for years. I love certain Dire Straits' songs, like 'Telegraph Road' and one of the greatest songs of all time - 'Brothers in Arms.' But apart from the wonderful 'Laughs and jokes, drinks and smokes,' his solo output has done little for me, but 'One Deep River' (I assume the Tyne) is really special. It reminds me of The Streetwalkers' 'Streetwalkers' album. Low key but more and more magnetic the more you listen to it. Recommended to all!
I’ve never been on the Hoffman forum. LA Woman is my over rated. I can’t do Yes because I purged all my Yes except the first three and the one with the naked dude on the cover. I don’t own anything after Wish You Were Here. I think Obscured By Clouds is under rated. Who’s Next is great but I just purged it. I don’t need to hear it anymore. I also purged Tommy. Led Zeppelin ruled the 70’s. This is a good idea for a video. I should do this before I purge more records.
Fun exercise! I had so many things to say but I’ll abbreviate to I agreed about 70%, agreed to disagree about 20%, and had no opinion for the remaining 10%. The thing about The Who Sell Out album for me is that it’s half-baked. One side is great songs with goofy jingles and the other side is just great songs. Now, I’d probably prefer an album of just all the great songs, but since they went the commercial jingle route I feel side two feels like something’s missing. Like, that’s it for the commercials? Oh. What, you lost your confidence? It’s like watching a standup comic who spends the second half of his performance telling you meaningful human interest stories with no punchlines. But if the album had just been the songs only from the beginning, it would be my favourite Who album of the sixties. More I listen to mostly for the two heavy tracks. The Nile Song is such a sonically mean bastard!
Agree with a lot of your picks - agree that the debut Doors is their best. Agree that the best Yes is CttE. I'd put 'Open your Eyes' as their worst, I'll agree that Relayer is over-rated, and my underrated gem would be either The Ladder or Magnification. I think MOST of the early Pink Floyd catalogue is over-rated, their best is WyWH, and under-rated is Division Bell.
Ha! The Soft Parade is my favorite. It was mostly put together by Ray, Robbie, and John. The Doors didn't last long enough to make a bad album. Meddle is my sometimes favorite but DSOTM is widely loved for a reason. I'm convinced that a lot of people choose a different favorite just to be contrarians (not necessarily you Glen 🙃). By Numbers is a good album. It's Hard has a couple really good songs but a lot of it is tough to listen to. Nobody could fill Moon's shoes in 1/2 of the best rhythm section ever. Zeppelin... meh. 😝
Except for the last two songs on Side One, I think "The Soft Parade" is a very good album. Even this album, which I consider at their worst, during the Jim Morrison era, they're still miles ahead of many other 1960's rock/ pop artist's albums.
Hi Glen . I agree the first Doors album is the best. As for as the band YES , for me they NEVER existed. Around my home the Who's Tommy was the favorite but I like most everything they did. Zeppelin's Graffiti is definitely my favorite. Underrated ,overrated who's to say we all Ike what we like . Take care..
The Doors debut is fantastic, I also think that the Division Bell is underrated. I love Animals, I was shocked you weren’t a fan of that. Not as shocked as I was on your opinion on the Who Sell Out & The Who By Numbers, I think those albums are excellent!
Check out the 2018 remix of "Animals", if you haven't. I think it's a lot more accessible in that presentation. Though, I prefer the "darkness" of the original mix.
@@GlenKellawayfromthebasement You might appreciate it more, with the "murk"/ "mud" removed from the mix. Maybe that's why you don't like it as much. I think there's a big difference between the two mixes.
Hi Glen!!! well done and this can be a cool video series, lookig forward for part II...... This is kind of hard with big names that have a rather small catalogue like The Doors or Zeppelin. I think the most overrated Floyd Album is "The Wall" and you leave out "The Final Cut" you might be right about "More". cheers and be well
I agree with you on houses of the holy although that album has one of led zeps best song "D'yer Mak'er" love the drums and the fun it sounds like. you also forgot LA Women by the doors that is my favorite album by them debut is 2nd.

Tormato and Relayer are both great Yes albums. You'll come around to them just like you did for Genesis. 😄 See you soon!
Relayer takes at least two good listens…spaced over time. Then that third or fourth listen is when it makes sense.
Overrated Zeppelin for me is Physical Graffiti, I just can't do it haha. Hope you don't shed too many tears!
What do you know anyway..❤❤❤

I love Animals
Pink Panthers
Thanks for the entertainment on a beautiful day
Thank you so much❤❤👍
Great video, Thanks!
I agree w/Strange Days.
Totally disagree w/More. & where was Zep III? Definitely an under rated favourite.
Be well!
I love Zep III..

Magnification is great choice for underrated..I wish I had considered that one…
Ha! The Soft Parade is my favorite. It was mostly put together by Ray, Robbie, and John. The Doors didn't last long enough to make a bad album.

I was the same with Yes until about ten, fifteen years ago and now they are one of my favourite bands..
The Doors debut is fantastic, I also think that the Division Bell is underrated. I love Animals, I was shocked you weren’t a fan of that. Not as shocked as I was on your opinion on the Who Sell Out & The Who By Numbers, I think those albums are excellent!
I really like Who By Numbers and love the songs on Sell Out..
Check out the 2018 remix of "Animals", if you haven't. I think it's a lot more accessible in that presentation. Though, I prefer the "darkness" of the original mix.
James..That album just does not do it for me at all..
@@GlenKellawayfromthebasement You might appreciate it more, with the "murk"/ "mud" removed from the mix. Maybe that's why you don't like it as much. I think there's a big difference between the two mixes.
At last count Glen, you have declared 113 albums as one of your top ten albums of all time.
lol..I may have to do my top ten video..
The Doors most underrated is Morrison Hotel.
Overrated, the first one.
Best LA Woman
They all have their moments
Interesting take..

I considered The Wall for most overrated..Lots of filler on there..
Doors best ? LA Woman ..
Who sell out great album love the creative radio spots ..presents and Coda by Zeppelin. Shouldn't have even bothered
Won’t argue with LA Woman…I can’t do the radio spots..It gets old fast..
I agree with you on houses of the holy although that album has one of led zeps best song "D'yer Mak'er" love the drums and the fun it sounds like. you also forgot LA Women by the doors that is my favorite album by them debut is 2nd.
LA Woman is awesome..
I think "The Doors" debut just edges out "L. A. Woman". There's a couple songs which place "L. A. Woman" just below their debut for me.
@@jameswilson7084 l'america and cars hissing by my window?
@@JackTheMusicGuy Yes, those are the two. Not bad or terrible, just noticeably weaker than the rest of the album.
@jameswilson7084 I could see that but I feel the whole album is fantastic
The Division Bell is underrated and I agree Animals is overrated.
You know your stuff👍👍👍👍
Good category video. Glen. Listen to Houses of e Holy again...its good 😅
Hey it’s Zepellin..it’s good..just not one of their best in my opinion..
Quadrophenia
A Quick One is the worst Who album.
Underrated My Generation
Tommy, overrated
Ouch..I love Tommy..
Just goes to show how we all hear music different. A quick one is my favorite who album.
