      You cant go wrong with PA ACSS optics.
      I own both the SLX and PLX 1-8x ACSS models and LOVE them both.
      I will say though, as great as the platinum series is, the lighter, more compact and less expensive SLX model gets the nod for me.
      Its 2nd focal plane reticle just makes more sense for any LPVO of 10x and under and its glass and overall performance is so close to the much pricier models it really isnt a factor.
      One thing for sure, whether silver class or platinum, the ACSS reticle systems are the best in the industry!

    This is what I'm talking about!! Hearing this is such a great LPVO (from someone that really knows what they're doing) is invaluable. I hate it when reviewers get you with clickbait and then tell you "your use case will determine if something is worth the money or not". Thank you for the transparency, and the simple answer. Sounds like I need to go shake the couch cushions again!

      How far out do you think MrGunsnGear is shooting ? I'd venture a guess and say, not any further than his corn/tobacco field lets him.
      This means that he's not out there shooting this out to 750/800 yards and therefore he can't say much about how it's doing at those distances. Just sayin.

    • @joshuareed3999
      @joshuareed3999 10 місяців тому

      @rascalmatt6713 Using a few other context clues, I'd agree. I don't think anyone with half a brain and an AR chambered in 5.56 is trying to shoot beyond 500-600 yards at most. The reticle in this optic is another good clue as it has a BDC solution for 5.56. I now own one of these and can attest to its great build quality and usability out to reasonable distances.

Definitely did not seem like they cut corners which worried me at first since they are known for more budget products.

      The Razor Gen II 1-6 is still the fastest LPVO on the market all these years later. As clever and well done these ACSS reticles are, they still aren’t as fast as a good SFP reticle and super bright illuminated dot. Where the PLx-C really shines over the Razor is the light weight and the medium-long range capability. The glass quality is about equal on both, the Razor has better eye relief and more forgiving eye box. Basically the top LPVO choices right now are Razor HD Gen II for $1k (on sale) or PLx-C 1-8 for $1.5k. The PLx ain’t never going on sale lol. So you have the option to spend an additional $500 for an optic that is slightly better at longer ranges without compromising much at short range.

      @@proverbialmind_spread9421 It's literally a roll of the dice, no matter what company you buy from. EVERY company (the major ones anyway) has a 10-15% return rate, at least. So you were just unlucky, just like I was. My first Primary Arms 1x prism, the screws that held the optic to the mount broke, on my first several shots while I was sighting it in. Broken screws inside the optic, 3 out of 4. It took 21 emails and 4 weeks to get a return label. Crap happens. But it can happen with other companies too.

    Then they come out with this one! I should of waited. I wait for all you UA-camrs to ring out the flaws, then I’ll pick one up when PA corrects them. If it’s as good as the first gen, then I’ll pick one up.

    I have two of these on my DD AR's. Shooting with this is just flat out enjoyable. It is by far the best LPVO I ever looked through and that includes the Vortex Razor Gen 3 1-10, and yes I had I used a rifle that had it on. That is a nice scope but I wouldnt purchase it if it were the same price as the PA Compact. I like the Compact that much. Opinions may vary.
    I have read the PA Compact is a non starter for some because the reticle is not day light bright. That factors very little in my assessment. Its bright enough, and considering what you are getting its not enough to deter the purchase. In daylight I use the reticle alone. I watched SupersetCA’s review, and he called it "almost perfect". The daylight bright was holding it back from perfect.
    I also read/heard ...dont remember where - that the PA Compact 1-8 is on the cutting edge of the technology. I have only shot it out to 200 yards thus far but the drop from the Chevron at 100 to the bottom of the Chevron at 200 is spot on. Cant wait to take it out further.
    Bottom line I bought two of them and havent regretted it at all. It was a great purchase and look forward to every range visit when I use them. It is expensive for sure but you without a doubt get more than what you paid for. That doesnt happen every day.

      I've got one on my DD MK12 and an LWRC IC A2. To think how much money you can spend on Nightforce, Schmidt & Bender, Unertl, etc. and get the same results for half the cost.

    I'd consider this for the size factor alone. I'm currently using a Swampfox Arrowhead 1-10, and while it's absolutely awesome and punching WAY above its weight class, it's fucking huge. This Primary Arms is perfect for an SBR setup... especially something that can reach different ranges depending on load, like 300 BLK.

      I was looking at the swampfox as my first foray into lpvos for a 16". You'd still recommend after running with it for a bit?

    • @lincolnpascual
      @lincolnpascual Рік тому

      @@ferrumchnop6617 Yes. But with the caveat of making sure the rifle you mount it to is not going to be integrally suppressed. I mounted it to my SBR (300 blk, 8.5 barrel, suppressed) and it took a previously 4.5lb rifle almost to 7lbs. I don't mind it, but it is something to consider. I'm planning on moving it to a different rifle, but I haven't decided what and why. I just want to make that particular rifle lighter again. Thing is built like a tank though.

      No. 10" barrel and 300 BO is CQB weapon less than 100yds and wouldn't need that much reticle. This scope best on a DMR or RECCE set up where you might be shooting out past 300yds. For the 300 BO set up you would want to have a wider field of view and red dot would be a better choice.
