I ran it to my fuse box and used s fuse tap. That way it gets it's own fuse as well. Turns on/off with the car and works fine, but since I'm currently in the process of wiring in some other stuff I'm thinking about just wiring my cam to the connector in the mirror instead. Whole lot shorter of a run, and cleaner install.

You don’t need to remove the front bezel to get access to the power outlet. Just pull out the lower side panel on the passenger side and it’s fairly easy to reach in and unplug the connector from the cigarette lighter. Pull it out, put on wiretaps and reconnect.
