I have always told my children you don't need lots of friends in this world but one good friend is enough. I also like you Kathy, love the call the midwife series. It's the one programme I insist on watching every week. It's just brilliant. In answer to your question about size, it all depends on what size your friend is Kathy. You could measure the chain across your own lap and judge it from there. I'm sorry that's not a great answer but when I don't know the size of the person it's hard for me to judge. The only thing I would say is be careful about the length as you don't want the blanket to be a trip hazard. Hope that helps a little. Take care.

Hi I've got 3 1/2 balls of DK discontinued yarn that I want to use up? they're roughly 300m a ball. If I wanted to make your 40inch x 30 inch blanket with a border that you mentioned in the video. Is that a starting chain of 126 for the 7x15 blocks?
Hi Stephanie many thanks for your question. Yes 126 chain is correct. Each square uses 17 sts and you need 7 extra. So if you wanted to make it larger just add more multiples of 17. Best of luck with it and please if you have any more questions don't hesitate to ask.
Hi Linda-mary the yarn I used for this blanket is uk double knitting yarn which I think is equivalent to a no.4. I use a 4mm hook which is the recommended size for dk yarn so maybe check the yarn band of no 4 weight yarn to see if it is a 4mm hook recommended, if so then no 4 weight yarn is the same as my dk yarn. Enjoy the pattern.
