The most amazing song with Freddie harmonizing with himself is probably " You take my breath away" from A day at the races - truly stunning!
He also does this with the studio version of Love of My Life. Love both of these songs so much for that.
Brian May himself said he was blown away by how precise Freddie sang all different parts of the multitracked vocals. The song is also an excellent example of why having a talented producer is important, Roy Thomas Barker did a masterful job on the audio mixing, how he leaves in certain imperfections in the final mix, because the imperfections better conveys the emotion Freddie is going for. You guys should check out the documentary that shows how they made the song, with Brian, Roger and Roy Thomas Baker, its really informative.
Would love more Queen reactions
There are 180 overdubs on this song and it was on 24 track tape which when they were done recording was transparent. They then transferred what was on the original to a new tape in order to preserve it. The original is still in the Queen vault which I am sure will soon be the Sony Vault since they just bought the entire Queen catalog for a billion dollars. That whole acapella portion is just Freddie, no one else. The rest of the harmonies on the song are Freddie, Brian and Roger. Thank you for this fun reaction.
Makes sense why I keep hearing the songs on adverts and such now!
Thank you for the kind comment, we really appreciate it
@@MoreMeetArthur I would recommend watching Sir Brian showing you the tapes, lyrics etc on a documentary about the song on the Queen channel, it runs for around an hour. It would also be Freddie 78th birthday today
There is a video of Sir Dr Brian May showing the tape which you could almost see through…… the opening is ALL FREDDIE 🥰✌🏼💛
@@dianecourtney2724 the Dr comes before the Sir
i imagine only the released mixes are owned by sony, albums and single releases
YES, MORE PLEASE! Seriously, that’s the coolest thing I’ve heard in a long time! Thank you both for sharing this!
Thank you for watching!
We will definitely do more of this
Happy birthday today, Freddie, September 5, 2024.
Imagine singing one line several times and doing it perfectly so it merges beautifully. There is a video where Brian takes you in the studio and tells you exactly how they did it, you'll see Freddie's original notes on the creation of his song and the original tape it was recorded on. The work was extremely difficult, I think Brian said they worked 12 hours a day and most of it was all in Freddie's head, he explained it as they went along, no one knew where it was leading. A very interesting video, it's called the making of Bohemian Rhapsody. Great fun reaction
That's really interesting, thank you!
@@deboraclark5791 he held the tape in his ✋️ interesting interview 🤔
I would absolutely love to hear you analyze "the Prophet's Song".... or maybe "Innuendo", both are equally brilliant masterpieces... blessings.
totally agree with this
Yes. ..more of bohemian rhapsody
YES !!
I'm not a musician, but so fascinating to watch and hear this breakdown.
Never knew before that it was 3 layer vocal
Freddie gave us more than we will ever know!!❤❤Freddie Forever
So cool to here all these details/phrasing that I had never heard before. Both voice and guitar.
i do love hearing queen songs broken down, theres so much cool background stuff going on, few bands i love hearing demos , mixes, and instrumental versions
Fascinating! Look up Inside the Rhapsody (Bohemian Rhapsody mini documentary). Brian May is basically doing the same thing.
Oh that's really cool!
Thank you
@@MoreMeetArthur there are 3 parts to the documentary. I think it’s the 3rd part. Brian explains about how they do the mics for the drums on their songs. I guess they do something interesting with the bass as well. Very cool.
This was brilliant, thank you guys.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love this!
Thank you ❤️
Tingle down my spine was Brian’s guitar.
John & Roger were so good together. So strong.
Yes, running across the bottom side of the bridge on his guitar
You guys should check out “The Making of a Night at the Opera” cuz it really shows different recording techniques they were using. I love hearing the isolated vocal tracks for the different songs.
There is also a separate more in depth documentary of the making of Bohemian Rhapsody with Brian going through the different parts. It’s really amazing how they recorded this song with the technology they had back then. They had to bounce a lot of vocal parts to other tracks because they were limited to only 24 tracks.
The shivers was played by Brian through the Deacy amp
Happy Birthday Freddie
You are in our hearts till the end of time and beyond ❤
Thank you❤️
Fascinating. Loved this one! But… the guitars at the very end are worthy of much more…. They’re intricate, interwoven, delicate, and weave around his vocal like fireflies. Would love to hear those stems! Great episode. 👍
This is known in every country around the world, as the greatest masterpiece.
That was so amazing to hear! You really hear how incredible Freddie Mercury’s voice was. Such a legend. Brian said in an interview that the band didn’t rehearse this song. It was all in Freddie’s head and as Brian listened to him he came up with the idea of the guitar solo. ❤Queen.
Freddie closes piano lid.
Roger (speaking from another room?): Deacon crashing about for the last 10 minutes.
Tired Freddie: Oh f*k it all.
This was breathtakingly brilliant!! Please, PLEASE do more of this!
I will watch this video again … and again … and 🥰
Thank you for watching!
Today is Freddie's birthday!
Check out The Making of One Vision for another look at how they work on a song in studio.
(Try to find the one thats more than 19 minutes cos most version out there delete the part where they sort like gang up on Brian on how he play the riff 😂)
Musical Genius!!
John Deacon, Freddie Mercury, Roger Taylor & Brian May together = perfection! 💜
I heard they wanted to add a few more tracks but had to quit or the recorder was going to overload and shut down! I’ve always wondered if that’s true?!??….if it is I’m gonna go with the recording machine needs to be mentioned as the unsung hero!! It knew when to tell Queen that’s perfection, quit now! Or I’ll do it for you!!
The making of Night at the opera is on dvd i have a copy if you would like to borrow it,this goes into the making of the the songs on the album. It great. Xx
Until the operatic section comes in, the only voice you hear is Freddie’s.
Theres a video on UA-cam called Inside the Rhaposdy a mini documentaty with Brian May explaining how they made it similar to what youre doing its about 27 mins, definitely worth a watch 🔥 🔥
Thank you for your great video ✌🏼
Thank you very much guys! Great job! Happy heavenly Birthday Freddie. We ❤ you! You will always be in our hearts forever!
Thank you!!
VERY cool... but I think you should have uploaded this on Sept 5th, Freddie's birthday as a way to celebrate him.
It was.. somewhere on Earth, right?
This was really interesting--you should definitely check out the documentary Brian May did about the recording of this song. (Also I've been reading a book by Geoff Emerick the sound engineer for the Beatles in the 60's--everything recorded on 2 track or 4 track and the innovative ideas they came up with on those songs considering the limitations in technology at that time.)
Also you you examine the miracle studio tapes available on UA-cam its lovely to hear them chat and create clearly having gun, these are post diagnosis
Second comment here but can you hear the sub harmonic in Freddies voice in the heavy bit, I don't know if he knew he was doing it , as though he was singing 2 notes at the same time. Amazing.
Nice spot! Didn’t notice this!! (Thank you for commenting twice haha!)
Brilliant watch guys....unfortunately ure Mike's were cutting out
Yeah it's a shame, we tried something new and it didn't work perfectly!
Will be fixed for next time
Nice, but man you missed a lot of gems, specially the part at 12:00. And no.. There are not 180 overdubs. So i love you to take another turn to this masterpiece.
Great reaction but sometimes the audi of your mic is muted
Also dod you know that Freddie could hardly read music, he played by ear as a child listening to the radio and then immediately playing it on piano x
how did you get this
I found them googling!
