I visited this park when I was seventeen in 1971. It was not a tourist site then and it was only visited by archaeologists and a few adventurers like myself and my friends. The park had just a few trails and you had to bring your own water and food. We had no Merrell sandals in those days or nice backpacks or fast drying clothes like I do now.
I remember reaching it by the beautiful beaches and climbing the old stone steps placed by the original settlers . We didn't run into anyone there and it took us all day to explore the surroundings. It's a wonderful, magical memory ( except for the sunburn) which I don't think I want to spoil going there nowadays.
We also climbed the Sierra Nevada and enjoyed the hospitality of the Kogi. I wonder if they like all the tourists that go there these days.

Hi, it is indeed mandatory, but we have not been checked for this at the entrance.
