Great points you give to fish the Lucky Craft in my opinion the reason why you don't get strikes on the Lucky Craft is because the fish are not interested in a minnow type bait but are feeding on the crustaceans but if you notice bigger fish such as stripers, halibut, bigger perch, corbina, Croaker's will attack the Lucky Craft because they can catch up to it. As to fishing the Lucky Craft in Wind or rough water try casting sidearm this will get you under the wind and get more distance
finally someone that explain this LUCKY CRAFT thing... lots of Videos pushing the "LURE" BUT NOONE tells you that the weather conditions and the ocean conditions have to be ideal or else you waste your time casting the length of your nose. Thank you.
Went surf fishing a couple of days ago in the hope that the halibut have started to move in… of course I was throwing a Lucky Craft 110 ( Chika Chicka color ) and just doing a straight retrieve with a twitch or two here and there… nothing! Not until I started giving it hard twitches ( like a freshwater jerk bait ) did I start catching fish. 4 halibut ( 2 keepers ) and a good size croaker in less than 2 hours. Just goes to show that varying your retrieve can make all the difference 🏄🏼♂️🎣🤙🏻
Used a white colored Lucky Craft minnow for the first time yesterday at high tide and the striped bass absolutely hammered it. Had 4 stripers in the course of an hour with a fast retrieve. Would have had 5 but it threw the hook off as it got to shore.
Many times when I want a more compact connection I will cut the swivel off of a quality stainless steel snap and just use the snap. Still gives you quick lure change with great action to the lure.
Thank you for being so detailed. When you’re unable to cast it far due to weather, what do you do? Do you ever tie anything else with the lucky Craft to cast it further ? Thanks !
Don't add weight to the lure. It ruins the action that the lure is popular for. The action is caused by the internal weights in the lure that make it move around like a fish. It's better to use a different lure, like a 1 or 2 (or whatever) ounce lure to match the conditions. I like to keep a 1.5 ounce spoon on me just in case. Tight lines!
I really enjoy your videos. I've been wanting to fish this Lucky Craft but didn't know how. I am glad that you put this video up. keep up the great work.
OK, DH... hit near Santa Cruz, morning tide coming in... caught first red tail with the LC Flash Minnow. Lost another in a wave. But, I think I have an SP metallic sardine? One of the two caught me that 25" striper on Monday. (Dude was fishing grass shrimp just a ways down from me... says he fishes the Delta for sturgeon. Man, he was hauling in BIG perch on those.) Ended up with 8 keepers today, Red Tail, but no giant ones. Think I'm losing fish by trying to horse them in through the waves if they are bigger. Best day at the beach so far. But, yeah, almost too easy with the gulp. Blackened Striper on the menu tonight!
@@DieHardFishing it for sure will be. I watched the video of you catching the monster striper and it really inspired me to throw this lure a lot more. The chance of catching bass with the flash makes the gulp worms seem lame (although they are really good at catching perch).
@@DieHardFishing Thanks! Yeah the grunion ran last night the fishing has been good. I almost stepped on a halibut today in the surf in about 1 inch of water.. i think it followed my jig all the way in...ive never seen anything like it all my years. Couldnt get em to bite today tho..
I was out at Monterey Bay yesterday and today. Threw the LC a ton and didn't get anything. No bites. Nothing. Moss Landing and the Salinas State Beach. I only got 2 bites the past two days on a c-rig with the Gulp Camo Sandworm. It's super frustrating.
Thanks for the reply. I wanna go up there to try crabbing. So legit! I subscribed when I saw this video! Almost forgot to tick the bell notification 😱.

Looking forward to seeing you fish Pismo again soon
finally, a good how-to for these lures!
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the tips, just waiting for my lures to get in.
Good luck out there!
Thanks for the tips! 3rd time out and caught a 3.2lb barred perch on the Luck Craft!!! I appreciate your time in making these videos
WOW thats a toad!!!! Congrats!!!
Die Hard Fishing Do you have a Amazon wish list or a fund I can contribute to? I know these videos take a lot of time. I appreciate all your tips.
@@ROCCOBABY Thanks man, appreciate the support! I don't anything like that but sharing the videos goes a long way! Thanks!!!!
That’s great considering the world record for barred surf perch is 2.75 lbs
I believe the world record is 4 lbs. 12 oz.
Used the lucky craft sp minnow out here in Florida and it did extremely well.
@3:30 A 20 pound striper will still bend those hooks. 9626 VMC's in the 1/0 size are what you're looking for
One of the best informative surf fishing video on UA-cam, kudos. I am subscribing... Cheers
Bravo! Great informative video. Your a professor in fishingology! This is why I'll always be a subscriber to your channel. Awsome job!
Thanks for your support! Appreciate the view and I hope it helps you catch your next fish!

Great detailed description!
Hey man love the video! Do you recommend the barrel swivel on this setup?
Awesome vid man! Just the video I was looking for.
Thanks! Hope it helps you land that slab!
Hey man my lucky craft got really beat up like yours today. Do you think it affects the catch?
Gearing up for the 2019 season can't wait to get out there!
Me too!!!
each package should print a link to this video!
lol, it should!!!
Great video. Thanks for the tips.
How long did you fish Pismo that day

Congrats on finding the hot bite!!!!
Great tips. Thanks for sharing. Tight lines!
Thanks for watching!
Do you use sinking or floating luckyctaft
Hold your rod low so the lure bite to the water if , its rough.
What rod do you use for the lucky craft
Nice video, ive been using this lure without much sucess. Gonna keep at it though. Thanks for the tips
When you get that mega perch, it will be worth all the hard work!
@@DieHardFishing it for sure will be. I watched the video of you catching the monster striper and it really inspired me to throw this lure a lot more. The chance of catching bass with the flash makes the gulp worms seem lame (although they are really good at catching perch).
I can't wait for the striped bass to start running again!
Im guessing you have a tactical anglers clip at the tip of the jerkbait?
Thank you! Very cool video. Good info.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the info! Love your vids! More Olaf please. Have you had luck with the Lucky Craft on the beaches south of Santa Cruz?
I need to get Olaf in another video soon! I am sure this lure will work all up and down the California coast!
first day using that i caught a nice size halibut and a big corvina in so cal today beach fishing
Congrats!!!! Still yet to catch a halibut from shore on the Lucky Craft but I am sure it will happen some day.
@@DieHardFishing Thanks! Yeah the grunion ran last night the fishing has been good. I almost stepped on a halibut today in the surf in about 1 inch of water.. i think it followed my jig all the way in...ive never seen anything like it all my years. Couldnt get em to bite today tho..
what tide do you like to fish?
The only fish i caught this year so far with the LC minnow is a pile perch... can't wait to try the Beach in Dec...
Never caught a pile perch with it, thats a cool catch!
3/4OZ? is that the 3/4oz surf model or the 5/8 4 1/2" flash minnow?
Thanks for the vid..you fishing the Sand Crab tourney?
It is the flash minnow, I think it is 5/8 ounce but I am not 100% sure. I hope to fish the tourney but I am not sure yet.

Great video! What beach did you film at?
use light 20 lb power pro you cast the lure a ways im casting for Monterey beach halibut at leas 80 to 100 yards from beach
Low wind and swell are the best for this lure. At least thats been my experience.
What's up DHF! Just noticed your shirt. I worked at Applied Materials during the hot silicon valley days..
Nice! Just ran the turkey trot again yesterday!
do you attach your leader using a swivel or just a uni knot?
use a blood knot 9 wraps each side it will not fail you
Which kind of rod should I use for such light lures ? Is there any trick to use this in windy condition despite low weight ?
I put all my gear in the description of each video if you want to see what I use!
Thanks for the 5 tips. Can you elaborate on what tidal patterns show the areas where perch may be ? I heard alot of theories about color of sand etc
Thanks for the suggestion. I will talk about this in my next surf fishing vid!
Great content! You say central coast!? What city? I’m in Santa Maria and fish oso flaco and oceano. I’ve mainly been doing fresh water at cachuma
I'm actually in northern Cali so I mostly fish the Bay Area beaches but I have done a video or two down south in your area!
Thanks for the reply. I wanna go up there to try crabbing. So legit! I subscribed when I saw this video! Almost forgot to tick the bell notification 😱.
Thanks for checking out the channel and subscribing!!!!
I bought this lure after your last video lol still trying to land something getting back out there soon
Stick with it! When you get one it will be worth the wait!
Thoughts on the LC Cif surf pointer 115?
Never tried it but I want to!
Was hoping you'd show how you are rigging it, swivel between braid and mono?
I'll do that in my next video!
Nice video bro!
Thanks! Good to see you are getting back out on the water!
Die Hard Fishing come to cape cod canal and link up with me bro. It’s way better then Montauk NY so u some cows
Pismo great because not many fishermen there a lot of times
Do the beefier hooks affect the lures action?
I haven't had any issues with it. Seems to still have the same effectiveness from what I can see.
If it doesnt cast that well, aren't there many other brands that are almost identicle that DO cast well?
They are all pretty tough but there are a few brands that are slightly better than others.
I love fishing
Same
Do you only use the metallic sardine color?
Thats the only color I have used so far but I am going to be experimenting with new colors soon!
Should come test out the cape cod Canal when u in east coast
Would love to come fish that coast sometime!
Die Hard Fishing 👍🏾
Show us how to flick it for distance
Let's goooo!!
I'll hit you up when my next chance is to get out!
Lets gooooo x2!
What kind of rods do you recommend?
It is linked in the description!
Just saw it . I been using 8 ft 6 lamiglas. I fish the Beaches in Santa Cruz and just got a lucky craft . Any other recommended colors to get ?
I've only tried the Metallic Sardine color but I have heard other colors are good too. I will be testing out the other colors this winter.
You mentioned central coast.. whereabouts?
I typically fish anywhere from Monterey to SF.
@@DieHardFishing oh ok. I heard you say central CA so i thought my area Pismo/ Morro Bay
Yeah I guess I more North/Central haha. But this lure definitely works down south too!
Die Hard Fishing definitely does work in pismo
I've caught some small perch with a lucky craft minow down in Santa Barbara... not the monster perch but it did work.
What color do you get ?
I've only tried metalic sardine
Lucky craft vs SP Minnow?
That might be a good video idea! In short, SP minnow for striper and LC Flash Minnow for perch. Both will catch striper and perch though.
Hey Adam, nice shirt! I work at Applied Materials:-)
Right on! I'll be out there running it again tomorrow morning! If you see me, come say hi!
Where at ad what time?@@DieHardFishing
In downtown San Jose at 8:30 I believe.
Я ничего не понял кроме что спининг шимано и крючки на аоблере от фирмы камакатсу
I always wanted to try a lucky craft but I'm poor as.. f
I hear ya, gotta save up for them lures!
Dude go Yo-zuri minnows half the price got em at Walmart with Mustad hooks! I've been getting halibut at a little spot in San Diego! Go get em!
I'm actually headed to San Diego in January! Maybe I'll give it a shot!
Seems legit
It is!!!
too much talking rather than fishing...
