Many apologies for the long absence. 2019 has been a crazy year full of transition. For example: I graduated high school in the spring, moved into my dream university August, and just finished my first college semester! Crazy to think I started this channel way back in middle school, and even crazier to think several of you have been following me since way back then!
Characters (in order of appearance) are Blossomfall, Ivypool, and Hawkfrost. In accordance with the script, Blossomfall challenges Ivypool in an attempt to defend her (Blossom’s) choice to partake in the Dark Forest.
I haven’t had much time to animate, hence the lack of activity on here, but I did manage to snag back this old part two or so months ago after having initially dropped out back in 2018. The MAP-which is now being re-hosted by KRBird-has been in a bit of a stand-still, so I figured I’d revive it and dip my toes back into animating by re-taking my part after the animator who had initially replaced me dropped out. Some of this is based on very old sketch frames, meaning the anatomy is wonky in some areas since I didn’t bother to re-do it. The newest scene is the third “Tell me you need it to” one, which I made completely from scratch this week. I worked on-and-off for a bit before spending several days straight getting it completed once I returned home for Winter Break. I wanted to finish it before 2020 rolled around. In all this took approximately 50+ hours from start to finish I’d say. I’m semi-proud of how it turned out, although I could have added more finishing touches/improved the editing (maybe try and avoid Ivy’s eyes getting absorbed by the blue screen in the last shot). Be sure to join the MAP as a backup! Many parts are in need of new animators to take over.
With all that now out of the way, I’d like to reassure everyone that I haven’t left and don’t plan to anytime soon. I simply won’t be as active as I was in middle and high school. I’m a biology major, studying wildlife biology, meaning unlike many of you I don’t actually animate or draw for school; it’s strictly a hobby. On top of studying I’m lucky enough to have been accepted into an undergraduate research opportunity next semester: I’ll be tracking coyote populations in affluent neighborhoods, the data my professor and I collect intended to (hopefully) be used by local government agencies in wildlife management legislature. I’m extremely excited to work in the field considering I’ve had such an immense love for animals and nature my entire life, but this also means I’ll have less time for animating as well.
Despite my education and “professional” life having very little to do with animation, I hope to continue this hobby and upload multiple videos a year. To help with that goal I’ve set up a Patreon account. I’m hoping that, with financial support, I’ll be able to allot the time needed to animate for this channel. If I earn enough I can work on my channel part-time as opposed to an on-campus job that would only take more time out of my day. But even if I only earn a few dollars here and there, any form of financial support helps justify spending time animating.
