Sorry about the semi scuffed audio . I'll try to make sure the next breakdown doesn't have the same issues. But until then, any suggestions on what I should cook next?
This might be off topic but i really like your editing style it reminds me a lot of tppo. Maybe you could do a video on your editing style? I think it would do great
Hi I was curious if you could teach me how to make loose clothing like a poncho in retro style because I'm having kind of a hard time putting my character together
@@MikeCore Thank youu. 3DCoat feels so good when it comes to hand painting textures. I love substance, but when it comes to hand painting textures, it's just not it. 3DCoat can be buggy at times, but what software isn't nowadays
I love your low-poly Hatsune Miku SO MUCH! It`s inspired me a lot, wish to see more low-poly miku(or others vocaloids), bc she reminds me ProjectDIVA first games🤩 Have a good day!✨
The (art)styles are similar, they are chibi-like proportions with big round simple eyes and very simple expresions, with small feet, big heads, yet simplistic clothing and hair. The lack of detail expect maybe for the clothing is key.
hey man love your work! I love low poly work and character design and trying to get into it more. Just curious if you ever considered doing a full length tutorial on your modeling process. Either way love me some low poly miku!
Thank you!! I think I will do a full length tutorial eventually once I've fully got my process down. Currently still experimenting and figuring things out. But I might start doing some livestreams for those wanting to see some more in depth content.
Great video! I love your presentation method and your approach on Self-Critique. I can see you work hard to push yourself to learn new skills that will bring you joy. I feel that really comes through in your final product. As well as your positive attitude. 😊
Please keep making this type of content. I've been an artist for 20 years, but only just started my blender journey, and this style is really inspiring for me to follow. Keep it up!
Another amazing breakdown Keven! Totally agree with learning from your previous work, wouldn't have gotten anywhere if I hadn't at least tried to create something and then recognised my mistakes. It can feel so rewarding to see how you've improved from project to project. Also thank you for the little mention 🩵
This is fantastic. Amazing work. as someone who's been working on low poly models recently it's so cool to see your process and I had never considered colouring in black and white for a model before.
Hey, even if you didn't really like your Mesmerizer Miku model, I still think it turned out great! Maybe you can redo it in a more stylized version like what you did with the anniversary Miku? Regardless, I agree with the lesson on not being afraid to fail and make mistakes if you learn from them. Take leaps! It's awesome to see your process, and the final result is amazing!
This is AMAZING!!!! I;m trying to learn basic blender modeling rn for some of my graphic design projects, but I was wondering if you can go into posing/animating the characters? Just a thought, keep up the good work! :)
As an aspiring modeler, animator, and games artist, I just wanted to say that I love your videos! Everything here is so expertly done and it gives me ideas on what to do for my own character models! If you do end up streaming or doing a longer video, I'll definitely watch since I'm dying to know more about your process.
something I kinda hate as someone who loves homebrew is when someone makes art that looks like it could run on specific old hardware but dont actually show it running on the hardware in question... btw, am sure that miku animation could run on a nintendo ds if there is less than 2k polygons and if the textures are lowered
i really wanna make myself as a low poly character and make my own HA4TO cats in a similar style to yours!! i downloaded blender and this is my first experience with 3d art. i hope maybe i can get to your level someday :D
I love love love your videos!! super informative ^^ I'm a real beginner to 3d modelling ...any chance you'd upload a breakdown/tutorial video on how you modelled the character base?!
Thank you!! I think I will make a video later down the line showing how I model my character bases. And go over things like proper topology for animation/deformation and have a more in-depth overview on the UV-Unwrapping process.
I'm really in love with this...hyping for your next project, hope you will make more cute retroed characters next time ❤ Keep up the good works, hope the best for you and hope this channel will grow larger and larger I earned my like and sub (not thing much but :3 ) Love u work ❤
To get the pixel art look, you can disable Linear Filtering by going into the view options at the top menu. And toggle "Linear texture filtering" off. You can then use the pencil brush to draw without any antialiasing applied to your strokes.
i just saw your other low poly vid and went to make my own miku and was gonna use your base mesh. why did you have to also have done miku specifically. ;-;
I’m curious have you tried Blockbench, I have seen a lot of people do work like this and the one on your last video, it’s specifically geared towards this 3DS/PS1/PS2 retro stylized look with pixel textures
Hi, I want to learn how to model and 3d animate, so I wanted to ask, do you recommend learning to draw a bit? In your last video I think you also sketched for the model? Not sure, but I am not too confident in my drawing capabilities.
If ur not confident in drawing, start with a pre-made design. If u wanna practice a certain skill, skip the other skills until u need them for something original. If u wanna learn to draw figures, there's a crazy good channel that popped up recently called LinesSensei.
Drawing does help, but it's definitely not required. I myself am not the greatest of artists, which is why I generally stick working off already established designs. So I would only recommend learning to draw if you, yourself, are also interested in learning to draw.
Thank youuu! I use After Effects for all the sections with motion graphics and just use Premiere to edit everything together. I don't really use any plugins for these videos, the only one that comes to mind is "Keyframe Wingman". Which just makes easing keyframes easier.
To do this, I've just set the shading mode to "material preview" And am just using a material that has color plugged straight into "surface" under the material output.
Thank you! I think on the next video, I'll have a more in-depth overview on my animation process. I haven't focused on it yet for these past two videos, since I've only just started learning character animation. But I'll definitely have it be a bigger focus once I've gotten more comfortable with things.
Hm... Try not to get trapped in tutorial hell. Starting out, it's very easy to only watch and follow tutorials, but that isn't going to get you very far. I recommend watching the tutorials, but then start a smaller project where your focus is to use the knowledge you gained from the tutorials. You'll actually retain the information you gained this way, and you'll learn how to use that knowledge in an actual, real setting. With doing these smaller projects, you'll also find that you learn a lot of other things along the way and get much more comfortable with the techniques and software. It's cliché to say but yeah "practice makes perfect", well as long as you practice. So keep on grinding, starting out absolutely blows, but once you get more comfortable with things, 3D modelling can be one of the most rewarding things ever.
Hmmm hard to say, I've been on and off 3d modelling for many years. It's probably something like 2-3 years worth of active 3D modelling spread across a bunch of years of inactivity. 😅😅
Both would work. I'm using 3DCoatTextura, which is a version of 3DCoat that has only the texturing tools. I would suggest getting only 3DCoatTextura if none of 3DCoat's modelling/sculpting tools interests you.
@@KeyframeChef gotcha! Also I was testing out 3dcoat textura, every time I used the pencil or brush and painted on a model it didn’t really look pixelated even when I was on a texture size of 512x512, is there a certain brush or settings I have to use for it to look like pixel art?
Ah yup this is due to "Linear Texture Interpolation". You can disable this by going into the top main menu and under the "View" tab there will be an option to disable "Linear Texture Filtering". That should remove the blurry textures and give you that pixelated look.
Sorry about the semi scuffed audio . I'll try to make sure the next breakdown doesn't have the same issues. But until then, any suggestions on what I should cook next?
