I was on The Grand. I noticed at each meal service, 2 employees would come along about half-way through, one with an empty tray and the other with a tray full of serving implements, like tongs, slotted spoons, etc. The 1st employee would pull the used utensil and put it in his empty tray. The 2nd employee would take a clean utensil and replace it for the old. Hand sanitizer stations were everywhere. Good job, Princess!
Nice- that would certainly cut down on germ transmission. We also really liked how they would ask you for your beverage order and bring to you at the buffet. Thanks for watching!
I'm going on a Princess cruise next month. What a great preview of what's offered in the buffet. I think I was drooling 🤤 watching this preview. Thanks again.
The best buffet videos on You Tube by far. We actually get to every dish clearly and know what it is. Great editing. Great music. I'm hooked on this channel. It deserves way more subs.
This is an excellent video, the best I've seen of cruising food and especially buffets! I've cruised with Princess before and have really enjoyed their food preparation. Problem is, I found this video six months ago and have watched it several times, during which all I can do is salivate and wait! My next cruise is in four days from now and it is just as hard to wait now as it ever was! I have to stop watching your video!! 🤡
+huskidawgs thanks for watching and the nice comment! We loved the Princess food as well, especially the buffet with its different themes. Have a wonderful cruise!
Same here- we don't get that sort of food around where we live, so the much improved dining experience is one of our most looked-forward to things when going on a cruise. Thanks for watching & commenting!
Ohhh, I miss cruising! I almost booked for this coming summer, but I think I will wait just a little bit longer to make sure everything is safe and all the ports are back to normal operations. I can wait just a little bit longer. Never been on a princess but their buffet looks outstanding. How is their dining room fare? I would expect it to be top notch, as well.
Post pandemic, I would say that the food on the Regal Princess Horizon Cafe is the best that I have had on seven cruises over seven different lines. The quality of the preparation and the sheer variety would make it rank higher than HAL or Celebrity. Also, what I have had has been made from scratch and not by Sysco. I have found the food in November 2023 on Regal Princess to be very hit and miss in the MDR and quick venues but have had no problems in the buffet.
Nice- we hope to go back to a Princess ship soon. Sounds like they've kept up the quality at the buffet! 😋 Thanks for sharing your experience from the Regal!
@@TravelTouristVideos what has been really weird has been that I posted the comments on UA-cam despite NOT paying for internet on the Regal Princess ... And you have responded before I have gone ashore. That is strange.
@@jlawrence0181 Yeah we've actually run into that before too- able to get notifications and access some social media despite not having an internet package. It's probably by design.
I don't know if anyone agrees or remembers, but I feel like the buffet food during the 50th anniversary had the right temperature. Nowadays, the buffet tastes luke warm.
Great job on the video. Hoping you do more on your other cruises. Can you confirm the date, length of cruise and destination you were on. I was on the Ruby princess back Sept and I don't recall seeing all the food you had! You were very lucky.
Thanks super touring! We'll definitely try and do it for future cruises. We were on the Ruby Princess for a 10 day Mexico cruise around the middle of March. We visited the buffet pretty often (cough cough every night), so may have seen more food than you :-).
I am booked on my first Princess cruise next year, if that's the buffet then the main dining room food must be something else! Better start the diet now. Thanks for a great video :-)
Oh yeah it was lots of good food! Great thing was that after dinner at the MDR, if you are are not too full, you have plenty of time to see what is available at the buffet. BTW we have a food video on the Princess main dining room food as well: ua-cam.com/video/nBxmYEXIxRc/v-deo.html Thanks for watching!
I've only cruised on Royal. From the looks of things, Princess seems to do a little bit better spread at the buffet than Royal, am I right? It all looks marvelous.
We were on the Majestic Princess, which is a sister ship of the Sky, a little over 4 years ago, and you can see the food we saw via this playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLKZWB-uCIzwSLjtYzfxTS6qw5kWNPKHFS.html
+Manateelover25 it was the second to the last night of the cruise. This was a Mexican Riviera though this would most likely be the case for other cruises by Princess as well. Thanks for watching!
Nope probably ~25 items or so. On the carving station there would be one special meat (or occasionally whole salmon) every night. They try to give a different variety nightly.
Yeah I do think the Princess dinner buffet is better than Holland America. Plus on Princess the buffet is open for longer hours. Lobster was only available for one night near the end of the cruise, although we did not see lobster on our recent Majestic Princess cruise at the buffet- they had raw oysters and cocktail shrimp instead. We do like the lunch buffet on Holland America more because they have sushi and some pretty good Asian dishes. For the main dining room (MDR)- it's pretty much a tie. Both have excellent fine dining style offerings for dinner at the MDR. Though if you like dessert, Princess is probably a little bit better in that area. So overall- both are quite good so you probably wouldn't be disappointed with either one!
We are on the Ruby Princess to Alaska in July. The food here looks somewhat unappetizing. Ah, how dressy do you gave to get for the main dining room or non-formal nights? For formal nights, do the ladies really have to wear fit all dresses or is a dressy pants outfit okay? Also, we got anytime dining. How does that REALLY work? Some if shore trips end late.
Pants would just fine, just not jeans. Anytime dining for the Main Dining Room means you can go anytime between 5:30 PM and 9:30 PM or 10:00 PM (I forget which exactly). Usually we try to go at 5:15 PM wait a bit for the restaurant to open- that way you get the fastest service, which means you should be able to make the 7 PM show. Have a great cruise!
On our recent cruise with Princess on one of their newest ships (the Majestic Princess) we didn't see lobster at the buffet either, but had it at the main dining room.
They have fish entrees in the main dining room- for example you can always order salmon. Sometimes there is trout, mahi mahi, etc. When I have some time I will work on a video that showcases the Princess main dining room dishes & menus. Also most of the time had at least one fish dish at the dinner buffet so you are covered. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching & commenting! Agree 100%- for sure Princess has some of the best foods we've experienced on our cruises. The desserts especially are really spectacular.
Hi- the cost ranges from ~$500 to over $1000 a week for a cabin per person (double occupancy). You can see what cruises available on Princess.com. Thanks for watching!
The Princess main dining rooms had very good foods IMO. You can see some of the dishes we tried here: ua-cam.com/video/nBxmYEXIxRc/v-deo.html Thanks for watching!
This was from the Ruby Princess a couple years ago- which one were you on? On our more recent Princess cruise (Majestic) we did not see the lobster tails at the buffet, but they were available in the main dining groom.
I agree- IMO Princess has the best buffet among the major cruise lines, especially if you like shrimp. But yeah the fries did not look crunchy at all, so we didn't even bother trying them. Thanks for watching!
Blood Pudding, I saw a few times during my cruses.I did not know what the hell is that.I did not try at all.Can somebody tell me or how does it taste ?Look so scary too.
That is too much work. Who is going to pay me to do this? I will say that I like the buffet food better on my Princess cruise that on Carnival. I just did a Carnival cruise on the Magic in Sept 2019. Carnival's desserts are poor compared to Princess.
@@rhigel2269 No worries just wondering what the major differences were out of curiosity. I definitely agree that the Princess Buffet is better than Carnival's.
Best cruise line that I enjoyed is now out of business. In the 80's I went on Premier out of Cape Carnival, FL. The "Big Red Boat" was featuring Disney characters for the kids. To me the ship was strictly a European style cruise liner where all meals were served in a large dining room with eight passengers to a round table. Same quests at each table for the three day cruise. There was a late night buffet, also. The Captain could be seen at most meals and on the first dinner everyone got to meet the Captain as they passed into the dining room. My cruise had many travel agents as guests. They all said the Premier was the best cruise line and I agree. The next cruise line that I rate as great was, of course, Disney. Things were quire different on the Disney ship, but the service and food was excellent. Then I put Princess in third. And after being on two Carnival cruises, I say that Carnival is a lower scale cruise line catering to the casino interests and cheaper getaways. I do know that Carnival owes Princess, Holland American, and Seabourn, all up scale cruise lines.
Oh yeah Disney has really good service. We were on the Disney Wonder and our staff in the main dining room was terrific. If you're looking to take photos with the characters, however, it becomes kind of like waiting in line for a ride at Disneyland, which is not something we enjoy. Princess, HAL & Celebrity are very good IMO in terms of food & service. The newer & biggest Royal Caribbean & NCL ships have great entertainment.
Yeah this is an older video from about 7 or 8 years ago. Here is our updated 2024 Princess Cruises food videos playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLKZWB-uCIzwRPwiQ4SEZ4YsgKd6igSuCC.html
I hear you- we were on the MSC Divina recently. The MSC buffet simply cannot compare to Princess, Holland America & Royal. Apparently if you do the "yacht club" with them there is much better food available (we didn't do that though). Don't for get to do the loyalty level match with MSC- that's one good thing with them- they will match the loyalty level of other cruise lines. We were able to match to "Voyager Black" as we were Platinum Members with NCL, so that helped with 2 free specialty dinners, which were quite good.
Sorry to hear that! In our experience Princess has some of the best foods among the major cruise lines- what were the things that didn't meet your expectations?
this is a collection from several buffets. you will NEVER see all these meat dishes on one buffet. I speak from the experence of at least 15 princess cruises/
Just to let ALL you know.. Nearly ALL pies & most desserts are not made on board. Sysco/US foods delivers much of the food prepackaged. Much of the Pasta is acquired this way. Some is made, using preyeasted dough. Only some of the Norman Love Chocolate desserts are made on board. Most other "mousse" type desserts, the mousse comes in large tubs It all starts as the same batch. Flavors are then added make each type "different" You really don't think that the food is done from scratch for 3000 Pax each night do you? The only food that comes close to homemade is in the specialty rest. Only Luxury lines do made from scratch & even there a lot comes premade. Of course the food budget dictates the quality of food. You certainly can't expect Oceania/Regent/Crystal levels of quality at Carnival budgets. Oceania actually spends more on their food budget than any other cruiseline(per ship)It's the reason we cruise with them most often. Now & then as this Jan. we may take a different trip. We'll be on the Star Princess going to Hawaii. We certainly will not starve, but we know the level of food quality will be nothing like Oceania. You get what you pay for is the old adage. Our 15 day trip will be about $500PP less than our 2019 14 day trip on the Riviera. Not as much of a difference than one might think.
@@TravelTouristVideos Very simple. I've watched the food trucks actually go on board the ships. They just either drive on or offload onto pallets. Late at night on the Regal I watched as pies & cakes were taken out of boxes (presliced)& set onto sheet pans to be dispersed. We have a large catering company & we use Sysco/US Foods(and other purveyors)to provide some of our wares. The food budget dictates the level of quality from everything from Yogurts to the "grade" of steak used. Princess uses "standard" grade in the MDR. The Crown Grill uses "Choice" at best. I buy several million dollars of Beef a year for our company, so I get a pretty good feel for beef quality. When Princess says "Premium" quality from Sterling steaks. That really means nothing. It's what the USDA grades the beef at. Everything from "Prime" down to "Canning"(dog food!)Only lines like Oceania/Regent/Crystal/Cunard(The Grills only)/Seaborne/Viking/Celebrity(specialty rest.)will use the high end Prime grade. Otherwise it's standard to perhaps choice. When preparing food for thousands on a nightly basis, doing everything from "scratch" is virtually impossible. A higher budget can certainly give you better quality. Where it's really determined is by the quality of the head chefs. On Celebrity, they used to have very good food. The chef changed the next year & the decline in quality was remarkable. A great chef can do wonders with lower quality ingredients, whereas a poor chef can ruin the finest meals. We ARE very biased towards Oceania. As most lines have cutback quality, thy'll raise fares a bit to keep it the same.
Royal's buffet is not too shabby itself, but I have to agree that Princess is better. Especially like the service where they get the drinks for you at the buffet as well.
I have been on three Princess Cruises and have consistently found the buffet food to be nothing better than a cheap cafeteria. Shrimp were "slimy" and most everything was either overcooked or way too salty. Will never do Princess again.
Fake, I justo return from total caribbean and they dont khnow the shrips, only surimi, I expect more from they, and the only put other meals No good for the money I pay,
cant you perhaps pick some better music to play in the back ground instead of this one?it sounds like you are trying to get off a treadmill but it just wont stop or "let's kick everybody out so we can go home" hehe...
What is your favorite buffet food on a Princess cruise?

I do know that Carnival owes Princess, Holland American, and Seabourn, all up scale cruise lines.
Oh yeah Disney has really good service. We were on the Disney Wonder and our staff in the main dining room was terrific. If you're looking to take photos with the characters, however, it becomes kind of like waiting in line for a ride at Disneyland, which is not something we enjoy. Princess, HAL & Celebrity are very good IMO in terms of food & service. The newer & biggest Royal Caribbean & NCL ships have great entertainment.
Awesome! Everything looks so good. Well except for the Sausage Salad. That looks just...... wrong!!
LOL yeah that one we didn't even bother trying. Thanks for watching!
At least it's not head-cheese!
Maybe Fromunda Cheese?
I see you follow the adage: Life is short, eat dessert first! Or at least SHOW dessert first!
Haha that's a great mantra! Thanks for watching & commenting!
I heard some people complained about the food. I can't see how
We really enjoyed their offerings for sure.
I wish your descriptions were bigger. Reading and trying to see the food is difficult 😮
Thanks for the feedback! We've actually increased the size of the captions in the newer videos 🙂
8:50 you're welcome
I didn't see any lobsters on the 2 Princess cruise I have been on
Yeah this is an older video from about 7 or 8 years ago. Here is our updated 2024 Princess Cruises food videos playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLKZWB-uCIzwRPwiQ4SEZ4YsgKd6igSuCC.html
This person is like my ex-Wife who believed that dessert should be the first course. Haha.
On a cruise ship, she is definitely not alone in that philosophy, lol.
MAGNIFICO y delicioso bufet, comeria como CERDO hasta reventar!!!!⛴️🛳️🛳️🚢💯😂😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😌😬😩🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃
Jaja, estaban realmente deliciosos! ¡Gracias por ver y comentar!
Msc food looks like hospital food compared ti this. Ughhh and i will be on the MSC in May
I hear you- we were on the MSC Divina recently.
Where are you😊? How are you😊
Make me hungry !!!!!
Hahah yeah I feel the same after watching it again!

Чайковский П.И.Вальс цветов из балета "Щелкунчик"
I just returned from my very first cruise on the Royal Princess. I have nothing to compare it to but we were so disappointed in the food ...
Sorry to hear that! In our experience Princess has some of the best foods among the major cruise lines- what were the things that didn't meet your expectations?
น่ากินทั้งนั้น👍👍👍👍👍😘😘😘😘😘😊
this is a collection from several buffets. you will NEVER see all these meat dishes on one buffet. I speak from the experence of at least 15 princess cruises/
Yup this was during the course of a 7 day cruise. The sweets signal the start of a particular night.
Thanks for this great excellent video ! ! ! mmmmmhhhhhh, the biggest challenge is to cook this at home, cause I am the chef at home ;-) ;-) ;-)
+Frank Stratton you're welcome! Lots of good food to cook!
Oh holy moly id gain weight like no tomorrow or idk this is just wow
Wow- thanks for the insight! That is really nice detailed info on how the cruise line procures food. May I ask how did you know about that?
I sailed with princess a few times.I still don't believe that we could eat fried FROG's leg during one of the cruise that I took.Unbelievable.
+catcat Sue I remember frog legs as well pretty sweet for sure. Thanks for watching!
WOW what a buffet: see Royal Caribbean, you can do better!
No breakfast?????
Going on first Princess cruise in November to the Far East .......
+MrWhelts the breakfast video is here: ua-cam.com/video/hdu-aJ8y3mg/v-deo.html
Hahahahaa I found that 10 seconds after I posted my comments. I then nearly commented "No bacon?" and saw your comment just in time :-)
Glad to hear it- have an awesome time on your Asia cruise!
You lost me at the music - had to
Put on mute
Yup agree definitely wasn't the best choice- I had tried to replace the music but it won't let me. Sorry about that!

cant you perhaps pick some better music to play in the back ground instead of this one?it sounds like you are trying to get off a treadmill but it just wont stop or "let's kick everybody out so we can go home" hehe...
Beautiful Blue Danube...
Classical stuff.
Kinda like what Titanic orchestra played during dinner!
