I will never forget me and my brother introducing my father to Andy McKee via this video shortly after it came out. My father was a bit of a musician as a much younger man and was absolutely floored by the sound Andy could get out of that instrument. My little brother was also a guitarist, and phenomenal for his age and experience, before he gave it up. I lost my dad 3 years ago to cancer. I lost my little brother at age 30 just a few days ago. Among the fear and loathing of today's internet, sometimes the algorithm makes me remember that life is beautiful and worth living every second.

Just like so many other people I'm sitting here listening to this in 2022 and I first heard this song over 10 years ago and it sounds just as good as when I first heard it, makes me think of so many good times playing guitar with old friends who I kept in touch with and some I've lost touch with but those memories will always be there and to be able to listen to a song that brings all those memories back is something quite special. Thank you for that Andy
2023. I found this masterpiece when I was probably 8-10yo, I’m 24 now. I often hear this melody in my mind. It’s been 14-16 years since my ears were first blessed with Drifting and I’ll never forget it.

Still the best recording of this song. Andy can record it again & again but this first recording is still the BEST!
Came back here after 15 years! We have moved from 240p to 4K,bit the magic of Andy is still the same! ❤️
God this memory was buried so deep in my mind I had to call my sister to see if she remembered thank god she did 💕
This song got me into guitar. Thought I'd never play like that Now some 10 odd years later, there it is again!
Goosebumps..
I saw this video the year it was uploaded and to see it back in my recommended feed in 2023 is just... wonderful. Might have a small tear in my eye.
I watched this 14 years ago?! Damn... feel old yet? Still the best.
I was in Andy's concert in my Hometown 15min. Ago. Just impressive!
Can't believe this is my first time listening to this. Really missed out
Sauce Obtainer Your next challenge is to learn it ;)
Better late than never
Me too, how did we miss out of this masterpiece, until now
This is also my first time listening. Man.. what was I missing 🥲
I watched this video when it first came out. And 17 years later I thought what is this song called and yes I am happy to still remember it. Andy McKee is him. Been him
いつまでも新鮮な曲
I really enjoy this song and the master playing it. Thanks :)
I can't believe this video is at 50 million views! The last time I watched it was about 8 years ago when it hit 300k and I thought it was amazing then!
lol we should share this all over the place again and make it as popular as it was back then lol
Yo 9 years later

I commented on this 12 years ago… and it’s still such a fantastic composition. Love it.
I remember being 11 years old, watching this video in awe and thinking to myself "I want to play the guitar too". I'm now 27 and I would never even be alive this long if I hadn't decided to become a musician that very day. Among the fear and loathing of today's internet, sometimes the algorithm makes me remember that life is beautiful and worth living every second.
Such a pleasant tune that brings back old memories like the cool autumn breeze 🔥
The way this guy plays is crazy. I love this sound !!!
Me 2 ! ! great !
Nice! He should learn the Chapman Stick. That's made for tapping.

apparently i need to retype my comment...
this song has gotten me through so many ups and downs, I honestly can't explain how much this song got me through the day ❤
Just like so many other people I'm sitting here listening to this in 2022 and I first heard this song over 10 years ago and it sounds just as good as when I first heard it, makes me think of so many good times playing guitar with old friends who I kept in touch with and some I've lost touch with but those memories will always be there and to be able to listen to a song that brings all those memories back is something quite special. Thank you for that Andy
2023. I found this masterpiece when I was probably 8-10yo, I’m 24 now. I often hear this melody in my mind. It’s been 14-16 years since my ears were first blessed with Drifting and I’ll never forget it.
Ainda lembro da primeira vez que vi essa obra de arte! Mudou minha vida musical! 🇧🇷🇧🇷
I'm excited! I get to meet this guy in February where I live for a festival!!!
Damn you're lucky! I really want to meet him. I learnt this song and because of him, my perspective on playing the guitar has totally changed.
Wow that's awesome, I'm learning how to play right now, I'm not good yet :P
Ok I'll look :) thanks
He comes here to midland Texas once every couple of years. Really sweet guy, amazing talent
+Nick Knight that's where I am located around actually :) odessa
Can't believe it...listening to this as it was yesterday, and still love it
Finally found my favorite guitar song after 10 years.
This is the song that is responsible for making me fall in love with music 15 years ago..
My god, 15 years latter and i still love this song
I was here at 1k views back when it was released and there it stayed for a long time... Now in 2024...a centuries old style has gotten this many views.
Majestic and timeless.
Thirteen years later and I'm still trying to figure out how this dude had enough time to slap his guitar..... truly one of the greats.
Watching this in 2019, can't belive it's been 13 years since this was released here on UA-cam and it's still the number one fingerstyle guitar video to this very day!
