And after four years i still think this is the most amazing guitar compositon ever written. Rhythm, bass, lead and percussion as perfectly balanced as i've ever heard. And when i have people listen to it, i always ask them afterwards how many musicians they think we're playing, nobody has ever answered ''just one''...yet. Pay for his music don't steal it, same with the sheet music. He isn't a limousine riding whiner people, he deserves every penny he gets. It all comes back to us anyhow.
Hehe, ye, ive allways said the same... Adding lyrics to his songs will only make em worse... His playstyle and songs makes you create your own little story in your head :)
I dunno this is 14 years since I first heard this. I bought this track about 12 years ago and slowed it down to try and work out all the hits and where they happen. I can play this note for note, percuss for percuss, but 14 years of playing this to anyone who will listen and I still can’t give it the soul you gave it Andy. I will be thinking of you when I hit the grave I am totally certain of that. You are a genius ❤️
@@anthonypeavey6778 Hi, what he does here is that he hammers on the first note (5th fret on the A string), then plays it with his thumb, then plays the open D string with his index thus getting that triplet you hear. Hope that helps :)
I had a friend, who inspired me, 15 years ago that coyld play this. But like water tastes chases many courses the end result im about to do the same. Guess il give a try
When we hit the grave, there’s an afterlife! Heaven and hell. Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven! We must repent and follow Him if we want to go there. Sin leads to the latter. Follow Jesus! He wants to save you and help you ❤️
How Drifting has more views than this song is beyond me. Ebon Coast will forever live in my heart man. I remember growing up playing in a band with my friends and listening to this song for hours. Just ridiculously good shit. Thanks for the memories, Andy.
I found Andy on UA-cam in 2008 when I was learning to play guitar and what an inspiration he’s been in my musical journey hearing this again is nostalgic for me ✨🥹
Bro, I’ve been listening to this song for nearly 15 years now. I just got a reply to a comment and here I am again. I still truly believe this is one of the best guitar compositions I’ve ever heard. The melody is just soooooooooooo good. I can’t get enough. I would genuinely love to learn to play this, but man, dude is a groove machine.
Still one of the best version I found so far. Even though I like the little variations he included over the years, which are of course missing in this version.
I am struggling to find words to explain why this is so hypnotic, with or without watching his "totally zen" way of playing. I can listen to it again and again (and I have over the years). Yes, it is that beat, something akin to galloping on a horse, it is the melody, that makes me imagine passing through trees and fields of flowers, punctuated by rock monuments, seeing fluffy clouds pass overhead, one pleasant pastoral image melting into another, slowing down just slightly at times to cross a bubbling brook to catch a breath and let the beauty sink in. I can hear the Don Ross, I can hear the classic Spanish guitars, but it is uniquely him. Maybe Topeka really does look like this in sound. Perhaps those of you far more schooled in music than I am can explain to me.
This has to be my favourite Andy McKee song, I have no idea why this doesn't have ten times as many hits, am I that strange to think this tops the list?
I first heard this song when my friend played it. It's so soothing and beautiful, and I was spell-bound. And if it's as complicated as it looks/people say it is, I'm really proud of my friend!
Travis Bowman Have to agree, but some of his others like Keys to the Hovercar are pretty ridiculous as well. I was in the top 50 against you in the Acoustic Prodigy contest, when I heard your song I knew you were going to win it haha :) Great job Travis! I follow you on instagram, you can check out a bunch of stuff I've wrote @Konnorshell, and a recent original on this youtube account as well. NAMM looked fun! I look forward to going some time.
I've never seen one song like that, let me flying on the stars, thank u to exist, this is an incondicional love song´s, this style is the better, drifting way to the stars!!!!
I remember seeing this back when it was just uploaded and it blew my mind, having never seen anyone play the instrument like Andy does. Back in 2022 and still goosebumps. Such a gorgeous tune. Words aren't enough.
This song is so hard to play. This is one of Andy's songs where he throws lots of tiny nuances in that are paramount for the song to really work, and they're hard to do. Tight trite night is even harder in this regard. Amazing song!
Loved you for years, and always will. U send me to my blissful state of mind. The energy your music gives out is the most incredible static cling that vibrates my bones, making every hair dance gracefully upon my head.
I don't know a thing about music. No idea about any high-lows. But I know good music when I hear it. I don't need the technicalities. I just know that if I would ever need something to soothe me, I listen to Andy's tunes. He's amazing.
So, a few days ago my boyfriends dad was upstairs (our room is the basement lol) listening to this song, I put the TV on mute, interrupt my boyfriend as he's telling me something & go "WHAT IS THAT YOUR DAD IS LISTENING TO? It's so relaxing, I love it" my boyfriend looks at me sideways & goes "Andy McKee? I showed dad some of his videos a few years ago". I've been sold ever since, this song especially. Something about it makes everything around me just melt away, I have now had this song on repeat for an hour & I'm not ashamed one bit. 🤗
This is probably Andy's sexiest song. He's usually channelling sentimentality and nostalgia but this is pure suave sexiness. It's that spanish chord progression.
I love mellow stuff, I liked this track before it finished the very first time I heard it. it's appeal never subsides & would be why it's in my shortlist for "most favourite tracks ever" I play a bit myself but this track is WAY out of my league.
I can see why people think Sunga Jungs Gravity sounds like this, but this is different more complex. Sungha took a few notes in each rift and added his own touch to it. I love this song and Gravity!!!

I'd have to agree 100%. I haven't heard one cover or other preformance of andys that matches the one present in this video.
This man has a beautiful soul.

I think that if someone dont like it the correct to do is: nothing, if you dislike the video just gonna watch another one
But why? Then there's no point for a dislike button in the first place is there? People should be able to express their opinion about a video.
If everyone would think the same as you, then people would just keep uploading their "bad" content because they think they didn't do anything wrong.
