Well done. I just played that as a horn player for the first time in a concert a few weeks ago. Those upbeats are a killer. You were both great. I have played it several times before on trumpet. That has its' own challenges.
I'm still trying to get my lips accustomed to doing something besides eating, drinking and talking! My Trumpet sounds more like a ticked-off ELEPHANT !!! Good job, y'all. Thanks for videoing it.
We play sleigh ride every year at our school with the orchestra- my 4th and final year of sleigh ride as a horn player and i still hate it with a passion, lmao. It’s such a chop killer for no reason. You 2 sound amazing though!!
I would say the best way to get comfortable with high notes is to play chromatic scales leading up to the highest note you can play comfortably. Do not try to force the note at the expense of your tone (i.e. don’t pinch your embrochure to try and get that note out). Air support is a definite help, and remember that it will get easier the more you practice! Happy to hear that you’re picking the horn up
No, these are the 1st and 2nd :) The third and fourth are much lower (the fourth playing entirely under the staff and the 3rds highest note being an F on the first space of the stave :) From a fellow horn player :) And as @yourmom3597 said, it is the same in marches, it's highly unlikely for us to get a good part there. Makes me miss being a flute player ngl lol
i’m on french horn 4. we just had our concert and i regret not filming, regardless of my horrible playing lmao. such a fun song though
How do you have 4 horns???
@@ayyyitsme335 for real I only got 1 trumpet (which is me).

It’s not easy not to drag or lag ….you did a very good job. The Christmas bulbs on the reindeer hat make all the difference. 😊

Was a horn player in high school! Fifty plus years later when I here this, I still remember exactly!! Great job guys!!

I suspect that the only person who would envy this would be a snare drummer playing Ravel's Bolero.

This has got to be their favourite Christmas song.
Excellent job!!!
Playing this wing for every christmas concert at my high school has made me really good at off beats now. Lol
Very good!!!!!!!!!
I know the feeling man😂
I'm too scared people will judge me if I start filming lol. great job though
Very interesting perspective! I enjoyed the syncopation! 👍 📯
Im a beginner french horn player in the 9th grade, but i play 6 other instruments. Do you have any tips for note control and pushing out high notes?
