trombones work by vibrating or “buzzing” your lips in a mouthpiece that gets amplified through the instrument. manipulating the slide basically makes the trombone longer or shorter changing the note to the desired pitch. think a slide whistle, but with a mouthpiece and is made of brass. this was the best my 1 am self could think of, hope it helped!

Honestly though, didn’t mind playing it, and still don’t. I don’t mind boring parts as long as it sounds good, and that’s why I like playing the bass trombone, in a very poorly explained way.

Leroy Anderson! My dad was a trombone player - worked for the "BBC Northern Ireland Light Orchestra". This is the kind of thing they used to perform every day - it was 'light music' like this. He used to tell me this was quite difficult to play - classics were a lot easier!

Sleigh ride on the bass trombone gang? This part was pretty fun. Have you played Christmas Festival by Leroy Anderson? The bass trombone part there is a lot of fun.

Nice to see this from another perspective. I've played the Euphonium part first when I like you was a HS student (67-72) and then recently last December in a local Concert Band. Cheers and thanks for sharing.
