- Опубліковано 16 вер 2021
- Testing the capability of a phone with an Intel Atom Z600 CPU and onboard GPU with a TDP of only 1.3 Watts. Despite the tiny CPU, this phone gets hot and drains the battery. But can it run software such as games? Benchmarking with PCMark7 and 3DMark03 reveals the ability of using the Fujitsu F-07C running on an x86 CPU.

Fujitsu Introduces Windows® 7 F-07C Mobile Phone

Watching this on a handheld device that has 12GB of RAM, 128GB storage, an octa-core 2.9GHz CPU, just thinking how much computers evolved all these years.
What is it
@@juliusveneziani9455 poco f4 gt
Besides, all these specs are kinda useless unless you run a real os
What phone are using, George?
@@NikhilSingh-007 Samsung S20+ 5G
Wacky device concept, but the aesthetic design is seriously on point. Early 2000's cheese was gone, but mid 2010's boring hadn't crept in yet. Can we get this again?
hopefully not

Great review. I remember seeing ads, commercials on the web and on magazines of the F-07C and I remember wanting one but since they were from Japan, when they came out I thought they were a bit out of my price range. Thank you very much for this great review. I must admit is the first time I seen this phone in action.
Thank you. I want to try out more things with this phone. Especially other operating systems. There will be a teardown soon. Then I'll take a break and make some other videos. Before coming back to this in the future.
Looking back at this, the phone was wayyyyy ahead of its time. Now we got stuff like samsung dex, and even i think this phone is better than something like samsung dex, if it was done correctly, simply due to it running an actual desktop os.
Yeah, I really like this phone. It's a crazy idea and shouldn't have worked. But used within it's limitations it works really well.
@@JanusCycle true.
This is fantastic!
wanted one of these for years. hard to find. had one awesome advantage. its compact size for its times.
I love your channel man ♥️☕🕊️
WOW I'd have totally bought it back then! What an awesome idea! Just imagine how many xp or 98 era games and software it could run :D - I assume native win7 software would most likely be way to heavy to run well.
So cool! I love gadgets like this. :)
Awesome video
honestly i would love to see something like this with modern hardware and Windows on ARM
I liked your touring voyager- yes I think you wouldn't be thr first trekky fan whos wanted to "bump into" 7 of 9 :)
I thought maybe you'd head for the Holodeck ?
Nice video, cool little phone/PC thing.. also liked your thermal imaging app and dongle (?)
Desktop OS on my mobile phone would be stellar, imagine one of these things with an AMD APU or an Intel 7Y75... 🥵
You could probably get an Intel N50 or N100 down to low enough power for a phone. 6W TDP and sub-watt idle at stock, but I recon you could slash the clocks down and drop the voltage a bit to get a 3-4W TDP chip.
I remember reading about it back in the day. I still kinda want it, even if I know I would have no practical use for it
amazing device
DAMN that's cool... I kinda really want one now
Believe me you don't... I've owned one and it's terrible at pretty much everything...
This is exactly the kind of useless shit I like to collect.
@@MainAvel yeah I went through that part of my life... Collecting things I couldn't afford back in the day...
The asus zenfone 5 used an intel atom x86 cpu with android... One of the best phones ive had and also really good for rooting... But bad battery life and heating
Man this is sweet. Almost like Pinophone with keyboard case and less jank.
0:47 The LCD is similar to the Sony Ericsson Xperia X5 Pureness (2009).
But SE has monochrome.
Thank you very much, very interesting device, if they make upgraded version with now technology, it will be perfect.
I would buy it
Seems like even now this idea is still in the BETA stages.
With Samsung DEX, and android 11’s built in desktop mode being the two biggest examples.
We have the hardware.
It’s just the overall software execution and advertising it to the user that it exists that’s done extremely poorly.
Cross consumer and company adoption will never reach maturity if it continues and it’s sad.
Because I personally think the concepts are really cool.
Especially for school or in home use cases.
That’s a great analysis. I remember Windows 10 Mobile also tried a desktop mode and failed. Thank you for that comment.
10 years ago i dreamt of such device
Playing pc games on a phone, at the time sure will have blown my mind away.
So basically the phone has multiple personality disorder
I wonder what happens if you get a phone call while running Windows 7.
That’s actually a really good question
I wonder if u can use the built in dialer to call
htc shift was a similar concept but more of a tablet size: it ran vista and windows mobile in parallel
"Fake Call"
Got me lol😂
I'd lose my marbles having that phone back in my days
So where on earth did you get one of these? I've kind of been looking for one and have been almost entirely inconclusive.
From the Japanese Yahoo auction site. There are proxy companies that translate everything and arrange payment and intentional shipping for a fee. They appear on there regularly and every couple of months you can find one at a more decent price level, even including the dock.
I spent ages checking regularly and bidding on different listings until I scored this one. It wasn't cheap, especially with the proxy fee, but affordable enough. Tip: search for just the model number 'F-07C'.
@@JanusCycle How much did you spend on this one? They seem to go for around £160 - £200 (excluding postage).
@@LBSiUK This one was around the upper end of that range, but also included the dock and that estimate included all fees I believe.
It can be hard checking and waiting for the right listing to appear. I keep myself going by having a list of items that I'm interested in, and switching my search routine around to different items regularly.
get my friend one of those
someone should try make one of these now with modern hardware
Try to installe a lightweight version of Windows 7 and try running Games on it, would be fun.
I wish you showed web browsing and video playback eg (youtube, wikipedia, twitter, crunchyroll) and more games running on the windows 7 phone (AAA games from early 2000s or Indie games from 2000s or 2010s) I wasn't as interested in the technicalities or the setting up process. Please make a new video with the phone showing web browsing, video playback in the browser, and games from 2000s and 2010s.
Although i wasn't as interested, I must say, excellent job in setting up the phone as it was in a different language and for showing videos of other prototypes and the historical videos and article's of this phone. Good work. Video liked for the effort.
Thanks for your suggestions, I would like to return to this phone one day.
The Hynix chip might be the 8GB recovery partition
I think it would be good if they put a full-size USB-A port on the phone.
Yeah... u have to use the dock
I have one :) greetings from mexico!
Hi, Very cool.
Great video. Where can I get that awesome Drempels screensaver?
Drempels is free and easy to find. The problem is it works best with older systems such as Windows XP. Due to incompatibilities with newer graphics hardware it's very hard to run on new systems.
Hope that this phone'll got the techs of nowdays. With a CPU that runs over 2.0Gigahert and a more decent memories of 4, 8 or even 12, it might be usable, with Windows 10 of course.
just get a steam deck at this point
Both Symbian and Windows are incredible.
absolutely.
I like the idea of that phone. I am the 121st person to comment this video.
I wish there were more x86 phones honestly
I'd love to see Half Life 2 on this thing. Probably a slideshow, but still...
I'm wondering if getting a light Linux distro or even Windows XP running would yield better results.
It's certainly worth trying. I'm looking for some live CD ISOs to try out with booting them first. Installing onto the internal eMMC based flash drive will be challenging. Windows XP especially may be impossible to install on this eMMC.
Hello Janus, is there any chance for you to share eMMC backup of it (or recovery image of this... thing). Thank you!
It's 20GB compressed. If you can provide somewhere for me to upload
@@JanusCycle Please upload it to the Internet Archive.
Interesting…it works like a HTC Shift, but at a smaller form factor
The Shift was also an interesting design, more tablet than netbook.
I have some sales brochures of it. Kinda expensive so only attracts business people. This is indeed a crazy device.
According to the Fujitsu webpage, Windows 7 actually operates at half speed.
I'd love my phone to be able to run windows full blooded. There's some things android sucks at. 4 digit atom chips are much better than 3, but this concept died too quickly
Yeah.... Althought Android is getting better and better over time, and you can run linux on it, without rooting, from an app... I haven't tried it, but i imagine performance to be bad thought.... I am dreaming of being able to run windows on my phone one day thought....
When will they make a new version, I'd still love windows 7 phone, or even windows 8, 10, or 11, but like maybe with the new devices that are able to jam core i7 in, I want an i7 phone with windows, windows 11 has a dialer app now, and it would legit be a good phone operating system, especially if they add android app support with the play store, it would be an unstoppable phone for productivity users, pair it with the cameras of an s24 ultra and the s pen, that would be a cool phone, maybe with a slide out keyboard like the f-07c or maybe like a blackberry priv, maybe a phone like the blackberry key2, also they are making powerful arm processors, maybe we can add better cooling with a little fan and heatsink and make it powerful, and even those can run windows decently, I just want a cool phone, I have a galaxy s24, it's nice but not anything that special
God this is fantastic i wish more manifacturars did this
We need a windows phone to come back, every new release of android gets restrictive like the iphone, there are certain things you just can't do without root and rooting is difficult
Can you install Windows 8.1?
I wonder if it’s possible to create a portable Wi-Fi Hot-Spot on the Android side and then connect to it from the Windows side.
It doesn't run Android
This is basically Continuum before Windows Phone 10
Can you run CS 1.6 on it?
Do you think the Star Trek Voyager game will run on your Sony Vaio UX running windows 7?
Yes, and no only run on the UX, but I expect it will run better on the UX. This is despite the UX releasing many years earlier that this phone. The VAIO UX uses a more powerful Core Solo CPU compared to the Atom CPU used in this phone and in many Netbooks at the time. Thanks, I'll have do a comparison at some point to confirm if this is correct.
@@JanusCycle Where did you get the star Trek Voyager game from?
@@Raptor50aus I've had this game for a long time. I've noticed that it's recently been released on GOG.
But you can also find it on abandonware sites with titles such as 'Star-Trek-Voyager-Elite-Force_Win_EN_Pre-Installed'. If you just want to test it out briefly, rather than play the game, then the abandonware sites are possibly justifiable to use. I did have to download and use the No-CD patch to get this running on the phone.

It’s a heavily customised version of Symbian for the Japanese market. I’ll look through and see if I can find some version numbers.

That's a Sony Xperia Z5 Compact with a Seek Thermal Camera plugged into the USB port.
you should be able to run android on it?
Android x86 maybe?
can you run windows XP on that?
It's said to be impossible. I want to find out why one day.
Try upgrading it to windows 10 or 11 mini
11 is 64 bit only so no way to get it working
Can this take an upgrade to 10?
I tried 10 in another video, very slow. Maybe I should try Win 10 Lite.
