Everything is right about it. Great camera coverage, very specific verbal instructions on the herringbone half double stitch. Detailed on when/where to insert your hook. Nice additional tip on adding the new ball of yarn. Four ⭐️’s on your video. Thank you!
Hi Leisha, I have to say this is one of the best crochet tutorials I have ever seen. This is absolutely great! I’m a fellow crafter who is learning the art of crochet. It’s not my speciality and even though I’m getting better and I learn quickly, I wanted to understand why I’m doing what I’m doing and you are the first person so far that I’ve seen do that. Thank you so much. Please keep it up. Noooow I finally understand why I’m putting an extra chain in some places and why I’m not. To account for the chain I’m skipping, now it makes sense 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
This is the best learning video I have seen you show and explain what to do when to do it and why to do it, I am a beginner and I found I was wIting for the next step, I have never been able to crichet at the same time and keep up. Thank you for sharing, I have learnt a new stich, and I didn't need to keep stopping the video and then wake up my computer each time. I would like to thank you for your how to connect new yarn as you go ❤
Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Comments like yours help to make my videos and patterns better. I never thought about how annoying it is to have to wake your computer up every time after doing the steps. Thanks for watching and commenting.💕
I am no longer a beginner, but wish I had seen your video when I was. It would have saved me a lot of frustration. You explained where to put that hook so well!
Thank you for this great pattern! I really appreciate you taking the time to walk us through the stitch process! I'm a visual learner and this helped tremendously! I finished my first scarf and am starting on a second for Christmas gifts. Have a great day!
My pleasure! So happy to hear you were able to make this scarf! I'd love to see pics if you'd like to share them. Enjoy making your Christmas gifts, and thanks so much for watching and taking the time to leave a comment.💕
So glad you found this tutorial helpful! Thank you for the compliment.🙏 I hope my other videos are just as helpful for you. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions.🙂💕
Thanks for explaining properly as I always seem to get confused on first stitch and end stitch, so annoying as no-one seems to zoom in enough. Finally a pattern I can follow.
Finally a video I follow and after a few rows, my stitch count is right! thanks for the great great work! I'm just a beginner and usually I follow the videos carefully but somehow I end up messing it, not knowing how or where the mistake is. your video leaves no space for doubts, I understand everything :)

You are a very patient teacher. I just started crocheting again after many years and am learning so many new stitches! I think what you're calling a 'bar' is really a 'post'. There are stitches that go in front of or behind it, thus 'front post', "back post". (I'm learning terminology and abbreviations too - fp = front post, bp = back post.)😊
Thank you! And yes, it is a post.👏👏👏 I do teach the correct term when I'm teaching front post or back post stitches. Sometimes though, it's easier to also use descriptive words when you're teaching on video since it's not always clear what you're doing.🙂 💕
As a suggestion, why not teach correct verbage from the beginning? (As you would teach a proper way to do as stitch.) Or perhaps say something like, "actually called a post". It adds to your credibility. But great job!
Thnx for the feedback! Sometimes, we don't think of everything on the spot because we're focused on a lot of things while filming, and other times, certain things get cut in editing. We have to decide what clips are best and what makes the most sense to keep in for that particular pattern, so you can easily crochet it from beginning to end. We do our best to keep the most important information in there while keeping it as short and to the point and as entertaining as possible for you. But we're not perfect. It can always be better.😁
Also, It's helpful to know that the correct terminology really matters to you. I'll keep that in mind. Feedback only makes me a better creator and teacher. I appreciate it.🙏
So glad to hear that! Glad this was helpful for you! Thank you for watching and commenting. Be sure to check out the other fun, beginner patterns on my channel!💕

Finished mine in 3 nights. So easy to follow along. It’s a little stiff but I’m hoping a trip through the washer will soften it some (used a different bulky yarn as I couldn’t find this brand ). Thank you for this. On to your next video!

Thank you SO much. I just love this pattern and it worked so well for my scarf that I made using Kismet Paint Super Chunky Fashion Yarn in the colour Namib Sands. It is 80% Acrylic and 20% Wool. The texture is amazing!
You're very welcome! So glad you enjoyed it, and it turned out beautiful. Thanks for sharing your yarn details. It will be helpful for others looking for a yarn they love for this!💕

Hi, thanks for this great video. I am from Indonesia. Your tutorial is very slow, step by step and i don't miss every chain until the end rows. I am a little bit confiouse about your double crochet is different, i usually get 4 loops, but is oke the result is good. Thank you very much.

I love this scarf. I’m not a beginner but this is perfect for understanding clearly when first starting out. I have one skein of chunky 5 premier puzzle yarn ( love that yarn) and I chained 20, hope one skein is enough 😬 Plenty of crafts stores near me if not 😂❤ Thanks again beautifully done ❤
@jannah413 Hi there! I'm so sorry for the late reply, I missed your comment somehow. 🙏 Wow, what a beautiful yarn for this project! I've never used Premier puzzle before, but I'll have to try it now! 1 skein should be plenty as it's over 300 yds. If you do need to grab a second skein- if possible, try for the same lot number because otherwise, the color will vary slightly. I'd love to hear how it came out when you're done!💕
One was plenty - I could have made it even longer. My cousin loves it so I’m happy! I somehow added two more stitches about 6 or 7 rows in lol but it’s ok. I bordered it with a cotton yarn, added some stars and a moon appliqué and it came out pretty good.
Omg I love the applique idea! Glad your cousin likes it. I would love pictures of it so that I can share your creativity. If you'd like, you can send me pics on IG @withloveleisha or email me withloveleisha@gmail.com . Thanks for watching and trying out the pattern! 🙏💕

Great tutorial. I used a size 5 yarn and size 8 hook but it looked very loose. Should I try a smaller hook or different yarn? I’m using Loops & Threads Charisma
Ooo I love that yarn. I would definitely try a smaller hook before changing my yarn. You can size down 1 size at a time, and come down quite a bit as long as you're comfortable. Your tension is probably a lot looser than mine so you can afford to go down on the hook sizes. Also, a good starting point is the hook size the yarn suggests. Just crochet a small square with that size to see if you like it first and go from there. Hope that's helpful! Here if you have more questions.💕
I haven’t used self stripping yarn before. When I add a new skein of yarn will it match the previous striping or do I need to adjust where I add the new yarn? Thank you. I am enjoying all of your hints and suggestions.
If you start from the outside of the first ball, start from the outside of all the ones after - that should ensure the colors continue to change in the same pattern. But you'll need to adjust which color change you add on at. Let's say you need pink, but it starts after a couple other colors on the new yarn. Cut those colors off until you get to the pink and add it into your project. It's also best to change when you're starting a new color rather than in the middle of a color. So time your changes that way. Does that make sense?🙂
Great new beginner stitch for me. I've been learning solely by video and can't read patterns. How about if you would put the pattern for just this little piece above so us newbies can see what it would look like in a written pattern form. I've not seen any teacher on UA-cam doing that. I feel like it's a missed opportunity to teach us everything at the same time. For those who don't care about reading from a written pattern then they can just ignore it! Thanks so much. I've subscribed so I can check back to see if this is a good suggestion and you do it, or not... no hard feelings if not. Thanks so much!❤ The young teaching the old, I like it! ❤

Yay! I'm so glad this made sense to you! Thank you for taking the time to comment and give me your feedback.💕
Thanks for watching and commenting.💕
it"s nice to be able to See all your stitches with a larger hook & yarn! thank you..
I am new to ur channel but your tutorial was so slow n clear for all of us to follow you ..ur an amazing teacher ❤
Awww, thank you! I'm so glad it was helpful for you. I appreciate you dropping a comment and sharing that with me.💕
I am no longer a beginner, but wish I had seen your video when I was. It would have saved me a lot of frustration. You explained where to put that hook so well!
Thank you! That means a lot. I'm happy to have you here now, though!😁💕
You are an amazing teacher! Thank you from someone that knows how to crochet, but just getting back into it. I’m glad I found you.
So glad it worked for you! Thanks for this comment. It's very helpful to know what works for those of you watching. 🙏💕
Finally a video I follow and after a few rows, my stitch count is right!
thanks for the great great work!
I'm just a beginner and usually I follow the videos carefully but somehow I end up messing it, not knowing how or where the mistake is.
your video leaves no space for doubts, I understand everything :)

As a beginner this is a brilliant tutorial. Thank you so much, i shall be watching more of you 🤗
So glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for commenting.💕
Thank you for this video. This is only me second project and you have made it very clear to understand what you are doing and how to identify the stitches.
Thank you! So glad it was easy for you to understand! I always love seeing your finished pieces, so if you'd like to share with me you can email me @withloveleisha@gmail.com or tag me on insta or Facebook. Thanks for watching and commenting.💕
I appreciate it.🙏
Your method is enough for me to understand even without explanations, thank you for your knowledge
So glad to hear that! Glad this was helpful for you! Thank you for watching and commenting. Be sure to check out the other fun, beginner patterns on my channel!💕
Loved this pattern and the speed at which you work and explain everything ❤ I've only been crocheting for a couple of months...first time I haven't had to slow a video down, thank you! So pleased to find the written pattern download too, having learned via UA-cam I'm having trouble understanding written patterns. Being able to split screen your pattern and follow the video has been invaluable. I'm a huge fan now ❤❤
I'm so thrilled the video and pattern were helpful for you as a new beginner! I'm always trying to make it easier and more convenient for new beginners to learn, especially through my patterns. Thank you for taking the time to comment. It made my day! Always here if you have questions.💕
@weirdoldhippie Hi there! Would you mind if I used your comment as a review for my pattern? It's so sweet and describes so perfectly how it can help other beginners. Please email me at withloveleisha@gmail.com and let me know- I would also like to share just your first name and a small photo of you (your profile pic is perfect), but if you're uncomfortable with that- just your screen name will work too. Thanks so much! This would be so helpful and mean the world to me!💕
Finished mine in 3 nights. So easy to follow along. It’s a little stiff but I’m hoping a trip through the washer will soften it some (used a different bulky yarn as I couldn’t find this brand ). Thank you for this. On to your next video!
Oh wow, that's awesome!👏 Glad you found it easy to follow. The yarn I used has been discontinued, unfortunately. So sad. I'd love to see pictures of your scarf! If you decide to post them on social pls tag me, or you can email me pics if you'd like. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!💕

You are so sweet and such a good teacher. Very patient. Thank you for the tutorial and have a Blessed And Merry Christmas 🎄 2023
Aww, thank you! So glad you liked it. Merry Christmas to you, too.💕
Thank you SO much.
It will be helpful for others looking for a yarn they love for this!💕
I happened on this video because I was looking for a different stich to make a couple scarves for my grankids.(22 & 10). This is perfect. It's unusual but not too difficult. I've been crocheting for many years. But I'm only good with scarves and blankets. I subscribed, so maybe I can try different projects. Thanks!
I'm so glad you found this video! It's such a fun stitch. I have a pumpkin that uses the same stitch- although I know it's not pumpkin season anymore. And I'll be releasing a matching ear warmer for this scarf using the same stitch! Also, a blanket idea is brewing. So I'm sure you'll enjoy that as well.😁💕

Just wanted to say thanks for this video❤ I wish I'd found it when I first started learning - showing how not to end up with a super tight chain, and showing how to actually see the stitches! 😂 Lol it seems obvious but I struggled so much in the beginning! I'm still pretty much a beginner and I just learned so much that i wasn't expecting to learn from this. Thank you!

Hi Lynne, great idea! Thanks for the request.💕
I love this scarf. I’m not a beginner but this is perfect for understanding clearly when first starting out.
I have one skein of chunky 5 premier puzzle yarn ( love that yarn) and I chained 20, hope one skein is enough 😬
Plenty of crafts stores near me if not 😂❤
Thanks again beautifully done ❤

Learned a lot. Thank you for sharing
Yay! So glad to hear that! 😊 Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. 💕
@smokeykitty6023 Hi there! The link to the free downloadable written pattern is in the description of this video and in my pinned comment.
