I wish you would show how to count the stitches after the first and or second row. I like how you showed the back loop using the darning needle as a pointer. Same could be applied to counting stitches. Thank you for a nice video. I like the pace.

I would estimate 8ish hours for a medium speed to complete
It took me around 7 hours and it's beautiful. Although if you're a beginner I would say 7-10 hours.

Are you going in the back loop only on every row or only on the first row?
You just work into the back ridge loop when working into the chain stitches on the first row. After that, crochet normally into the tops of stitches.

Hello! Thanks for your message and congratulations on learning crochet! The type of crochet hook shouldn’t make too much of a difference in your actual work. I personally prefer aluminum hooks. As for crochet being thick, it all depends on the stitch, the hook size and yarn weight. Some patterns create a soft, flowing items and others create a thick, stiff item. Happy crocheting!

My pleasure! Sure thing. If you are making just single crochet stitches, you will find those to be quite stiff. This scarf pattern (which combines sc and dc) should be softer. is a single stitch without the yarn over but the doubt stich start with a yarn over?
Hi there! Here's how to do a single crochet (sc) stitch: insert your hook into the designated stitch. Yarn over and pull through a loop (2 loops on hook). Yarn over and pull the yarn through the two loops on your hook.
Here's how to do a double crochet (dc) stitch: yarn over and insert your hook into the designated stitch. Yarn over and pull through a loop (3 loops on hook). Yarn over and pull the yarn through the first two loops on your hook - not the loop closest to you (2 loops on hook). Yarn over and pull the yarn through the two loops on your hook.

Do you continue crochet in back loop all the way till the end
You only work in the back ridge loops when working in the chain stitches on Row 1. For Row 2 and on, you will crochet normally into the tops of stitches. Hope this helps.

All my patterns are designed and tested with the yarn weight and hook that is listed in the pattern. You are welcome to try something else but the size, overall look and feel of your finished item as well as the amount of yarn required may be different.
Unfortunately I can’t tell you what hook size to use for a different weight as I’ve only designed, made and tested this pattern with the yarn weight listed in the pattern.

There's lots of different ways to crochet a scarf and the number of stitches depends on many factors such as how wide you want to make the scarf, whether you are making it width-wise or length-wise, which stitches you are using, what yarn weight and hook size you are using and many other factors. As a beginner, I would recommend starting with a pattern and following the instructions for how many stitches to make. Hope this helps.

Why was the first tow different please?
Hi there! For Row 1, you will be working into the chain stitches. For Row 2 and on, you will be working normally into the tops of stitches. Here’s the written pattern in case it’s easier to read: jototheworld.com/simple-scarf-crochet-pattern
How to end the last row?
Hi there! After you’ve reached your desired height, at the end of the last row, fasten off (meaning to cut the yarn and pull the end through the loop that was on your hook) and weave in loose ends. Hope this helps.

An even number of chains ⛓ +1 because we going to work with even number of chains throughout. Hope this helps . 😉 Enjoy.
Thanks. Very helpful. But I don't understand how the ties are "opposite ". Re double crochet - single because each row begins with single and ends in double, mine turns out being double top of double.
I would have liked to make this scarf, but even with the sound on high I had trouble hearing the speaker.
