Nothing felt as good as buying a new car in TDU. No other game comes close
The map was fun as a box of kittens as well. Great map, also seamless server transfers and you could see car groups from various servers all on your map at once and zoom down into any server without some big crappy transfer having to occur like the inferior Forza Horizon games have
NFS underground 2 made it feel more special imo. Only 5 cars? Every car mattered to you

Exactly. It was so exciting to finally have saved money to go spec that special model and arrange them in the garage. Loved that game
It was the greatest feeling to buy a new car in those games. Yeah it was a cool feeling by new cars in need for speed and Gran Turismo and even Forza but something hit different about test drive unlimited games when you would buy a new car and or house as you could buy houses in test drive a real sense of accomplishment in those test drive unlimited games especially when you do that on PSP because the PSP controls that for a while cramped your hand because that’s what I normally played test drive on yes, I had the PS2 version that I played on PS3 because it was backwards compatible. The model of PlayStation 3 I had, which was pretty great controls were a lot easier didn’t cramp your hand after a while, but I mostly played it on PSP because I traveled a lot as a kid that game was addicting put those controls on the PSP. They would cramp your hand quite quickly, especially what’s that game so it was a little bit different level of skill you had to have versus the one on the PS2 that said I own both copies and I still play my PS2 copy of the game today I love it
Because you can actually see them in a garage with the house you bought. Sit in them, rev them and just look. No game has done it since and it’s sad
and the house you buy too, my dream was always the yachts
A year later and that game is definitely not what we hoped for

You could also tune your car and paint it any color in different textures at the paint shop. You had access to a bunch of stickers too. Honestly ahead of its time.
Nah after purchase customisation was actually a standard feature in games. Because of Fast&Furious films. Games like Juiced and many others. But it's ridiculous there and everything's quite a bit more grounded in TDU.
@@SianaGearz well true, it was a bit grounded, but keep in mind, the maps were 1:1 and there was a lot of cars that at that time were so high quality, but maybe when solar crown is released we get more customization
There's something to be said about seeing the cars in a garage rather than flipping through a menu.
This game is way ahead of it's time...
Not to mention the purchasable mansions and houses with interiors that has intractable buttons. The devs definitely traveled into the future to make this game.

@@mrpeace3860 Have you seen also the newest gameplay from Alex? It already looks much better than the first gameplay reveal. There are still things what needs to be fixed though.
@@Jens_Roadster I remember playing in 2011 and it was one of the best looking racing games that time. I found a lot of friends that time. I still get well with some guys.
But I don't think that tdu:sc will have the same vibe as tdu with ibiza and hawaii.
Just came out and it has nothing like this.. HUGE disappointment.. I won't buy and I'll continue to play TDU2

TDU 1 & 2 were the best huge maps,characters customization,clothing shops,mansions, realistic cars etc... Solar Crown on the other head looks disappointing so far.

I used to be #1 in the world back when this game was new. Myself (SaWiddy) McClean, Jeri… the top 4-5 we always fluctuated… I was ADDICTED to this game.
For me it was thanks to this that I understood that TDU was unique. I found it very beautiful ! 100% mandatory for TDU SC !

Bro, you're the first UA-camr out of the many I've seen make TDU2 videos on that spoke about the smaller details like the vehicle functions. It's the minute details of TDU2 that truly made it a masterclass of open world racing games!
Buying a car should always be a good feeling. It’s a shame for a horizon can’t do something like this to make the car you purchase really feel like a car you have earnt
Burnout Paradise also had technically indicators, but it only turns on automatically during races to guide you where to go since the game doesn't have waypoints.

I absolutely fell in love with this game when I finally recently played it on my modded ps3.
I been wanting to play this game since I first ever saw it back in 2011 or so, and didn’t get a computer capable of it till like 2016 and by than I forgot about it!!
This is hands down one of the best racing games once I actually played it, the handlings amazing, the upgrade system is really subtle yet feels good… the whole way the game works is amazing.
I know gta isn’t a racing game but could you imagine if the car dealerships worked like this in it??? Would of been insane

Test Drive Unlimited is 10 times better than any Forza Horizon, besides graphics and driving physics, due to its creativity and long lived fun factor

Specing your car was a thing in TDU 1, and heck it was in the PS2 version. Don’t know about PSP though as I have to to purchase that version
yeah it was, but the feel of being able to walk around the dealership, and spec it, is something no open world racer has yet to offer
Its just such a shame they fucked up the physics in tdu 2. If it had the same physics as tdu 1 it wouldve done a lot better.
It was still fun but the traction at low speeds was broken as hell unless you were offroading

Loved tdu 1,feelt like cars was mine. You can see how many km you have on each car.
I played original TDU 1 hell out online when it came out and long time. It felt big and wide and it was fun drive around online.
I hope TDU 3 brings the same feeling that TDU brought to us

Now that tdu solar crown is out / dealership is way to futuristic and boring I miss this tdu2 dealerships and that theme music in it was simply amazing especialy those roads where you have to drive trough and discover them and only then they appear on the map that was an amazing touch, speaking of map I kinda miss that map where you have to drive trough the map and all roads appear from white line to blu lines to indicate where you was driving before and to accomplish to 100% you have to have driven all the roads that was soo fun !
Miss that game. Sadly what I've seen so far from Solar Crown is, that it just uses the Name "Test Drive", but looks like a bad copy of Need of Speed or any other generic underground racing game.
A year later, and TDU:SC is an immense dissapointment.
But seriously the grafik and physics are shit compared with Forza Horizon... i would love to plau tdu but i already know that i will hate the drive physics...

And the most important thing about TDU is that every car genuinely felt unique. Thats another reason buying new cars in TDU really mattered.
You dont get that sensation with the crew or forza horizon. Each car kinda feels just like faster/slower, lighter/heavier versions of the same car which is real buzz kill when youre buying new cars in those games
Sadly, that's the difference between arcade style racers like Horizon & Crew, where they are all similar to enable people to just jump in anything, and the sim type racers where actual physics and setups are used. TDU always took the time to be a little more sim with their setup, and we all loved it for that fact

The original test drive unlimited on PS2 and PSP was this way I didn’t play the PS2 version too much. I played the PSP version a lot to the child and I had a copy for the PS2 which I didn’t plan my PS3 but I played my PSP copy more I still play that very same game today. I love it. I can’t wait for the new test drive unlimited solar crown

This game was missing 2 things the physics could be improved for sure so that's 1. They should add real jobs to work your way up which they kinda did but they could have gone more into it but they could have added garages where you can customise your ride how you want to and that would have made this game 2x as good but it was still solid nothing bad to say of td2
