well, bright side is, you demonstrated that wire size matters in power output. but also show that you can pull quite a bit of power through OFC wire. potential video material here (wink wink) love the fact that you owned the mistake, shows your character.
@@wal wow! I'm surprised he was able to put out so much power the first time around. But that definitely explains why it didn't sound very well when you did a sound test. But I can easily see how you did it, being marked power I might have did the same thing. Great video is always Big d.
The reason the amp is in a box like that is so that if they want, they can push them to Walmart or whatever... or smaller retailers can buy them and resell them locally. Pushing them online is likely the most cost effective for them right now, but shipping pallets of them to WalMart is the long term dream.
I also noticed that, but I figured you made the corrections before you did the test. Hey, I don't know a single installer who hasn't made a mistake, and that one was an easy fix. If it were in an actual car, it would not have played anything at all due to a head unit's remote wire putting out less than 1 amp. I'd be willing to bet, Derek isn't the first person to do that on this model of amp. The “Power” above remote terminal is just asking for people to hook it up backwards.

Lol I have done this not too long ago. The amp kept turning on and off, and then a fuse blew in the fusebox. It happens to everybody. For 65 bucks I'd say it is worth a shot.
Nice! Would be a good lil amp for some front and rear door coaxials or just some front mid and highs then add a 2nd and bridge it for 2 regular subs. 😎👍👍
I have the 1200.1 pushing a 1999 sound stream spl170 15 and it knocks unfortunately the box is just as old and blowing apart but will be changing it to a deaf bonce machete mf 12” which will be in today!!! I got the amp hours after you posted the video and very impressed with the amp!!!
Thanks Big D for being forthright and showing that we all make mistakes!! This brings up an interesting test though. I know your remote lead is only 20 gauge and it is really short, but what would it have done with a 20’ power wire that is too small? Could you maybe do a video showing the power differences with wire that is too small? I know you had/have a D4S JP8. Maybe do a dyno with it with 20’ of 12 gauge power and ground, then another with 8 gauge, and of course then the 4 gauge. That way people can see the importance of the proper sized power wire. Just a thought. Love what you are doing Dereck and love the honesty. We all make mistakes. Keep it up brother!
I was thinking , something wasn't right if sound quality was off. Thanks for the correction update. I'm glad you gave us the update. All of us humans make a mistake every now and then. Thanks GOD bless 73 Earnest k5ewm.
the world is a big place, lots of stores, the product could be on a shelf somewhere also, my amps have the remote lead as a smaller screw set than the power/ground
I have a question, does efficiency really matter in a car amplifier? I mean, as long as you have thick enough wires AND you don't run the stereo system too long with the engine off, your car puts out as much power as it needs, right? If so, what is the benefit of an "efficient" amp?
To be fair, I probably would have done the same thing. The text 'POWER' next to the ground terminal and +12v at the end? Big D has wired hundreds of amps...
It sounds good to me it was pretty clear and worked well with the sub thing is there's some air hissing around the sub tho but other than that it's I'm impressed and mistake happened no worries big homie you're good
I would also say that for this sort of an amplifier, it is clear it has very little headroom past 1%. The uneven channels I think just come down to the individual components having a very wide variability. Not shocking given the price point. 90 watts or so at 2 ohms is more than enough power for day to day commuter car life, and at the price, who could refuse it? Great deal, and even if it doesn't last, just buy two and keep the second one as a replacement.
I tried 2 ohms bridged and amp didn't like it. Others pointed out this is a Class D chip amp and I don't think the chip likes 1 ohm loads (2 ohms bridged = 1 ohm per channel)
Honestly, having the 12v and the remote swapped probably didn't make much difference unless it was like 30 feet long. Gauge doesn't mean a whole lot; it's total resistance. A 20 foot 4 gauge wire will have about the same resistance as a 6 inch 20 gauge wire. How long was your 20 gauge wire?
If I tried to explain to you how I wired my first car stereo as 16 year old kid in 1976, you wouldn't worry too much about about your little boo-boo! I still laugh about it 48 years later! Let's just say I somehow managed to hot-wire my car without trying...or even knowing how! lol 😋
I guess this is a lesson to all those guys that wanna run 2 runs of 1/0 power and ground to their Kicker CC600.1... A 20ga power cable held up to over 40 amps of current draw, although voltage drop was probably really high. I'm surprised the amp survived dyno runs and didn't pop.
This is a win. 2 videos in 2 days, and a shit amp got to a good amp 😂👍 Keeep em coming! 🤝 Btw i see aliexpress have some nice looking amps, will there come videos from they too? 😍
Good day Williston love the video I'm going to get one of the amp for my sound system at home to play the top end speakers, I want you to do a dyno test on this amp Crunch Ground Pounder GP-1500.2 1500 Watt 2 Channel thinking to get one for my 1000watt 12" sub : nitro BMW-3712 but I want to know if it will do the rated power it claims to do.
@5:55 have you tried combining the 2 channel to mono and see if it will run on the dyno and possible double the output? Amp is cheap enough it might be worth it. I have done this in the 90's with no consequences. It had either worked or not, but I always wondered if it did anything when it worked.
@@wal back in the 90s I don't think most of us we're able to run anything under 2 ohm. I remember having a four channel Jensen 500 watt amp. I stacked all the channels together and ran a set of kicker comp 12. But I recall not being able to tell the difference. I'm assuming those two speakers combined were 2 ohms but I was only 17 then. I really didn't have a clue back then. But I thought I did
Anyways you should probably experiment with that if you're bored on some other apps that are four channel and see what happens if you don't care about blowing them up. I didn't have any test equipment to tell if I did anything or not. The worst consequence I ever got was a blown fuse. That don't mean words can happen.
It's ultra rare the remote terminal is the same size as power/ground and also the words POWER REM instead of just REM or REMOTE would've helped me. Old men need glasses
Hi Williston, greetings from Argentina, I would really appreciate if you somehow got a Sound Magus dk 600 to dyno, they are some of the most used here for Subwoofers.
@@wal I wonder if it would do it with real speakers? The Dyno is so much tougher than real world. I'm always amazed at how little power some of these massive woofers pull when they flex to music and you have the amm-1 hooked up, and how much higher theo hm load tends to be.
I'd like you to check out an up and coming company called slapz audio! They have some full bridge amps and fairly budget friendly subs like their 3500rms 18s for $475.
@@wal it’s supposed to be a really good budget amp from Canada and it’s also a bit underrated from what the website says but I’m still not so sure of it
I bought it back after I did the 1200.1 and then realized it was Class AB and weak sauce. It's not a small amp like I thought it was and the same design as the Boss 1100, but rated appropriately. It wasn't interesting enough to make a video

I have a TEMU amp upcoming, will be a few weeeks
Efficiency Is Kinda Depressing But It Could Be Enough For Most These Kids Daily Drivers
And Not Break The Budget
Now I wanna go back and watch the original one
It’s linked in the video description
Good day Williston love the video I'm going to get one of the amp for my sound system at home to play the top end speakers,
I want you to do a dyno test on this amp
Crunch Ground Pounder GP-1500.2 1500 Watt 2 Channel
thinking to get one for my 1000watt 12" sub : nitro BMW-3712 but I want to know if it will do the rated power it claims to do.
I don’t think it will as those are rated for max power, whatever they decide that is 🤦♂️
If this had a 4 chan dsp it would be a game changer 😮 scary
@5:55 have you tried combining the 2 channel to mono and see if it will run on the dyno and possible double the output? Amp is cheap enough it might be worth it. I have done this in the 90's with no consequences. It had either worked or not, but I always wondered if it did anything when it worked.
Amp did not like 2 ohms bridged
Hello, could you try a Brazilian POWERUS 2500.1 amplifier. thank you
THIS IS NOT A MICKEY MOUSE PROGRAM !
It sure isn’t it’s BIG DEEEEEEE
That distortion light was dancing to the beat. Lol
🤣
Could this be an argument for those amps with huge gauge terminals for the remote wire? I wonder does it add any power on the dyno lol.
Future video showing wire size vs power output in the works
I'm just impressed I didn't bake it the first time
Me too honestly. This mistake won’t happen again
I noticed the same error, too. I thought you must've caught it before testing, though. Oops, haha.
It's ultra rare the remote terminal is the same size as power/ground and also the words POWER REM instead of just REM or REMOTE would've helped me. Old men need glasses
Hi Williston, greetings from Argentina, I would really appreciate if you somehow got a Sound Magus dk 600 to dyno, they are some of the most used here for Subwoofers.
please Big D, more cheap 4 ch review.. on a search for one
his pinned comment literally has options.
@@fpbbq i am the big dummy 🤣🤦
edit: biggest:)
I love a good redemption arc
i assume D4S has not sent you a JP1.2z3 to dyno yet because you doing sea sound amp test. i'm guessing the JP1.2z3 is well over 2k at 1 ohm
I have several D4S amps forthcoming and the 1.2z3 is one of them. It will be several weeks before the video is ready
@@wal i went ahead and got a 1.2z3 if it's anything like the jp3 you reviewed i sure it will be fine.
I know bridged it claimed it was only stable at 4ohm. But was 2 ohm tried possibly? curious if it would do it!
It did not like 2 ohms bridged and I wouldn’t use it like that. I know it’s a bummer and would make this cheap amp over the top
@@wal I wonder if it would do it with real speakers? The Dyno is so much tougher than real world.
I'm always amazed at how little power some of these massive woofers pull when they flex to music and you have the amm-1 hooked up, and how much higher theo hm load tends to be.
2nd time is a charm .
It's a better deal now and probably dead even vs the 90 Metro .
I'd like you to check out an up and coming company called slapz audio! They have some full bridge amps and fairly budget friendly subs like their 3500rms 18s for $475.
Thanks for the suggestion 👌
Looks like the amp is driving a Class D Chip on the bottom side of the PCB.
I think so, yes
@@wal i hope you make a teardown. I want to know which chip is driving it all.
try 2 ohm bridge. it can make 350w
Im glad that once i seen the guts intuitively i knew something wasnt right, then almost proceeded to jump to get one anyway...strange 😮
Good job bud.
Thanks.
Hey can you do a review of the Elektra a.1100.5 5 channel amplifier?
thanks for the suggestion!
@@wal it’s supposed to be a really good budget amp from Canada and it’s also a bit underrated from what the website says but I’m still not so sure of it
gets rid of the unreliable cxa360.4 and gets one of them for my Tacoma to drive the Polks🤔
👍👍
Nice
Player's Fu*k up too! 😄
Any chance of testing the 170.1 monoblock ?
I bought it back after I did the 1200.1 and then realized it was Class AB and weak sauce. It's not a small amp like I thought it was and the same design as the Boss 1100, but rated appropriately. It wasn't interesting enough to make a video
What did you get when you had it wired with the remote
original video is linked in the video description box
dont mind watching again!
Where can I find replacement screws for screw down terminals
Hardware store
@wal tried a couple nothing seems to thread right
