Got my 18 in July. No break in. First pass at 253 miles. Did first oil change at 800 miles with 5w30 motorcraft and Ceratec before I even knew about the tick. Been running it hard since. No tick. Good luck!
Its amazing i didn't have the engine tic in the bottom but I did have the 2k rattle sound. The liquid moly has made the engine sound so quiet and took away the 2k rattle! Thanks for the video stang mode! I call it the morning coffee for my stang.
I tried that stuff too...love it! Can't go wrong with German engineering. You weren't imagining it...I heard your engine quiet down too! I use Amsoil Racing grade synthetic. Feel better bro!!
Hey man, cera tec needs to be 6% of mix. You should use 1.8 bottles for each oil change for better results. But its good to see that one bottle already helped a lot. I’m facing the same problem in my brand new gt, so frustrating...
I can confirm this stuff works. Mine had a bad tick, almost sound like a knock. Put this stuff in and it's 100% gone, tried time after time to replicate and it's gone. If it was a true bearing issue, or loose main cap a 300ml additive would not suppress the noise
I own a 2017 vw gti. I use liqui moly motor oil. I think its great. Car has a 2 liter turbo four. Does not burn a drop of oil between changes. Runs very quiet, almost silent at idle.
I work for a large company and we have about 50 2018 auto 5.0s in our fleet. About 10 of em have already produced loud piston slap. All under 25k miles
I am sure you asked Ford about this problem when you went on your trip. I guess they were of no help if you had to resort to this additive. Well, anyway, good luck with it! ....I use motorkote.
Yeah I jus got mines 18 mustang gt like a month ago and yes I do have the tick I get it like when I hit 200 miles. I think its just a mustang thing... I still love my 6speed stang mane....
Hey dude. I used Ceratec in the past, it is a great product but is intended to provide less friction and not to fix an issue. It seems that helps but that will be just a patch. Hopefully Ford will do something and come up with a tsb for this and a planned fix procedure that doesn’t take months like it took to some fellas out there.
Every V8 I have had I have done the headers and a ticking sound becomes noticeable, it’s because the header metal is thinner than the standard manifold, the standard manifold hides the exhaust value noise, these ticks are normal. They sound loud especially in an enclosed area or near a gutter as the acoustics from the tick are magnified. Every day he relax it’s funny every one is going crazy over this so called TICK. And ceratec is a great product full stop tick or no tick use it.👍🏼😃
Omg it actually fixed my tick. I put 2 bottles into my block because 300 ml is only good for 5 quarts of motor oil. I am proof that it actually works. It's $20 a bottle on amazon and I would buy 2 if you carry 1 quarts of oil
Sounds better , should never have to use Liqui Moly on a new car.... !! Trust me the guy's at Ford know by this point what the cause of the Gen. 3 ticking is !! I'm thinking they are just buying time till the release of the GT500 1-14-19 - / They Don't want any bad Mustang P.R . ! A recall would just be way to crazy for Ford & cost them way to much $$$$..... Love to see that note about the ticking on the board at Ford...
They would not do a recall. Recalls are for safety issues. They would issue a TSB for only those who complain or actually end up having a serious problem. Then, they'll try to fix it. Usually by replacing the engine block, only to have it tick again with a new engine.
Interesting video, StangMode. I haven't the slightest idea what causes the tick, but I've heard nothing but good things about Ceratec Liqui Moli improving engine smoothness and even adding life to the engine. Good luck with it. Nothing is too good for the Black Mamba! ❤️️
StangMode and I know a lot of people are saying it’s just a “ban aid or we are masking the issue” but it’s no making a noise it’s not making contact so that has to be good. Good luck. I just bought my gt 2 weeks ago.
That's a strange rumor. I finally got my 2019 twelve days ago. This "tick" thing and stories of the digital display going bad are the only things giving me concern. Really enjoying the car!
The tick appearing after an oil change is with the gen 2 coyote not gen 3. Gen 3 tick has been happening before an oil change just look at yolo douchbags video of it and search the mustang group's on fb. Issue is plasma linears, once those cylinders are scored it's pretty much same as disposable. Besides if y'all thought it was that easy then Ford would have a fix for this, instead of seeing them replacing shortblocks left and right.
Your buddy the Ford CEO is cringing right now! I dig your vids. Unrap the hood vents, remount a spoiler, gloss the splitter, then BM will be styling right.😎😉
HELLO FROM GERMANY. I follow your channel since 1 year waiting for my GT. I had the same BBQ tick after oil change. I also used Ceratech and it helped my 2018 GT aswell. Runs fine since then. Thanks for the anthem. Dont hear that here very often anymore. Cheers from Berlin .
G'day from down under I'm currently arranging to have a supercharged (Roush) Mustang here in Australia and I'm a mechanical person (although not specifically automotive) and have been following the tick issue for some time. Just might be the trick. I agree with both sides, It shouldn't be ticking and if it should Ford should just come out and tell people that. If it is normal and you can just do this additive then boom, fixed the issue. Have a Merry Christmas sir!
It's in my car. Worked for a few thousand miles but the tick is slowly coming back. Don't worry about your warranty, as long as you don't tell them about it they will never in a thousand years find out.
Great video! Thanks for the new product review. Something to think about on my 1,900mi one. Also, if you dont mind, why did you change front grille back to stock? I want to change mine, but not if you had fitment issues with aftermarket. Keep up the great vids!
You have an exhaust leak for sure. Header bolts not tight enough or gaskets. If you had them installed take it back. It will tick when cold and stop when it warms up. Might be at the flanges as well bolts not tight enough or donut gaskets no good
If the noise goes away after warming up for 30-60 seconds and you just added headers, it's a good chance there's a tiny exhaust leak and after the metal expands frkn the heat., the gap is sealed and noise stops.
Are you sure it's not an exhaust leak? Had the same noise. Turned out to be a small exhaust leak between the mid pipe and shorty headers. Tightened the bolts down and it went away.
You didnt get the noise til after you got the headers installed...? My 2014 has the same noise...and guess when it came about? Yes, on the first startup after installing my offraod exhaust. LoL Hakuna matata
It Sounds good! I plan on using this if I develop the tick but so far so good. I think I don’t have it as of now because when I did twin turbos on my 2019 I used the joe Gibbs 5w 50 racing oil specifically made for the coyote motor. Check that oil out, it’s expensive at $11 a quart but I attribute my car not ticking to using that oil and also doing a proper break in period.
Anyone ever try putting a half a quart extra oil and see what happens? The after oil change tick makes me think maybe the oil pan or dipstick isn't the right size. Just random thought
To me I think it's OK to get additives and put them in. A lot of R&D goes into them. I will look this product up and give it a try. NOW! Brown Momba is gonna bring a ton of followers also so great vids Bro and Keep em coming! Love all the mods your gonna do to it!!!
After adding (Liqui moly) Is there any changing with the exhaust gases smell, especially in cold start , like burning oil? Be careful with additive stuff👍🏻.
Although I am not familiar with the product, I have no doubt that it worked for you because it sounds so much better and smoother than before. My questions are: is this a permanent or semi permanent treatment or is it an additive that must be included with every oil change? Where is the product available for purchase? Does it have any warranty implications for the powertrain?
I dig it man...iam gonna keep sending it regardless of tic 👍. After hearing story after story, glad i got a used 2016. Feel safer throwing boost at it too.
once ceratec is added and mixes with the oil does it look like that milky color from the product itself or does it blend with the oil and you can’t tell it’s been added ?
Sounds sweet just needs the extra bottle, You need to get those daylight running lights it'sjusta6 is running he did the change in about half an hour. He was running them on purple they would be ace on you're Mamba.
First, hope you get to feeling better. Second, I agree it sounded better after the second start up but you admitted the noise was most audible on the first start of the day. You did that, it was making some ticking type sounds at first, but the longer it ran (warmer it got), the noises got better. Was that a result of the product you added? Maybe. I'll wait and see how it does in the long run. Good luck!
Is the tick you are referring to a noise other than the fuel injection, which I have been told is a constant ticking sound increases and decreases with rpm? By the way luv the black Mamba. Do you have links to purchase the chin and grill light kit? ✌
I have a 19 GT at around 100 miles I heard some ticking noises, later I added 2 bottles of Cera Tec at 200 miles and ticking was gone and engine was really smooth, however the ticking came back at 400 miles which is odd. Never pushed the car past 2k RPM, been babying the hell out of it and still this ticking noise comes and goes. I have noticed with the AC on, there is this loud tick every 4-5 seconds on the driver-side wheel well, and the common tick rhythm a lot of S550 owners have on the passenger wheel well side of the car, regardless if AC is on or off. If the dealer technician notices the Cera Tec during the oil change, they would probably report it, the oil looks very muddy, it looks like if coolant mixed with the oil. The Cera Tec does not fix the tick and honestly I don't buy into the Ford TSB that says: "It's a normal characteristic of the engine". I love these cars but the Gen 3 Coyote is brand new totally different from compression, bore, displacement, just about everything, I'll wait and see what Ford does for 2020 and if they fix the motor, I'd be glad to get myself into a 2020 because there is nothing like the Mustang on the market today for the price.
I had thesame tic on my 2019gt with only 5000 miles. I started using 93 octane gas from Exonn Mobil and the tic is gone. Don't know why but that stopped the tic. Just wanted to share. By the way nice video.
Liqui Moly products are awesome.......But Schaeffers 5W50 will get ya there too. Also the 4 stroke engine was invented by ze Germans ( Otto cycle ). It definitely is quieter after you poured the sauce in.
I use liquimoly 5w40 and have for the last 20k miles. Multiple drift events and I daily drive my mustang 1000 miles a week. And I can prove with oil analysis that liquimoly is the real fucking deal
Hope you feel better StangMode! Super happy to see the Black Mamba up and running. So after you put your 10 quarts of oil you add that German stuff inside the car? And it's supposed to make your engine run smoother?
I don’t care if it’s covering my engine tick!! I hate hearing it and this amazingly did the trick!! Thanks guys I put it in this morning and it’s gone!
She sounds so good on startup. Is this her first winter? I’m only wondering because she might have a summer oil that is to thick in the cold or to thin I can’t remember which one. Dude I just got a new toy I’ll be posting a reveal video soon. Im a long time fan. I don’t comment on every video but I do when I feel like I can add something.
To me, it seems the tick is gone because we are specifically listening for it or any tick. And, now, there is no tick. No matter how we adjust our hearing, there is no tick, which suggest the placebo effect would be to adjust our hearing to hear a tick even when there isn't a tick. We strain so hard to hear a tick that we think we hear a tick.
Its the molybdenum coating the parts but too much of it is a bad thing for cam phasers and sensors will get coated with the stuff. Mazda are the only ones who have perfected the additive to their oil.
I use Amzoil. I used to be a mobile one guy with my 2005 Charger. I switched to Amzoil and now use it with my 2016 Mustang GT. Never had a tick. I wonder what's causing it on the Gen3 Coyotes.
I've done a little bit of research on the issue. Typically the issue is related to the viscosity of the oil being used. If you are doing a lot racing, you will typically need a higher rating and obviously need to replace more often than the 3-5k mile recommendations. Higher temperatures require thicker oil a 5W-30 or 5W40. Daily use according to the manual is a 5W20. In extreme circumstances, the issue is related to Cam Phaser failure. The fuel tables require altering because the phaser is not opening up the valves according to the timing correctly. Here's some information I've found on the "tics" forbiddendiesel.com/n-9-whats-a-cam-phaser-and-why-is-it-important.html and forbiddendiesel.com/n-4-ford-v8-ticking-noise.html
The tick is normal when cold start, then go away when warm. Why do you think the 2018+ motor cover is bigger than previous years? for insulate the tick. Look under the cover, you will see insulators in both sides... just my 2 cents. Following you from Puerto Rico!
Im sorry man, but i can 100% tell you Ford isn't gonna use that thin cover to try and hide the tick. That would just be a very dumb, and bad attempt form a company who has millions of dollars and very smart engineers.
FullAutoGT when you have your oil result back from blackstone. Can you email it to me to compare? alwayzsoyoung at yahoo.com I have my result for the first 3,000 miles.
I was at Ford Last week about the tick, they acted like my 2019 Mustang Gt was the first one the had a complaint about! The same dealer the put in * quarts of oil instead of 10,them tried to bullshit me about it!
Well, we already know what ceramic coating the outside of your car does.. so why wouldn't it help in side as well. Not all engines come with piston coating and things of that nature. It almost sounds like it smoothed it out enough to lesson or eliminate the noise... whatever it actually is. Lol I think it's a great idea.. I knew about this company because I drive a VW Jetta daily. They are high quality crafted.. and expensive.. but you get what you pay for. I'll be getting me some on my next oil change for the high mileage benefits. We are always on that friction and non-friction goals where it's needed lol
Got my 18 in July. No break in. First pass at 253 miles. Did first oil change at 800 miles with 5w30 motorcraft and Ceratec before I even knew about the tick. Been running it hard since. No tick. Good luck!
16 Sport did my first at 600 with 5w30 as well, no ceretec and no tick.
Used car dealerships must love that stuff
Maurice Cooper That was 😂 so true
LOL THAT'S THE TRUTH LOL
Its amazing i didn't have the engine tic in the bottom but I did have the 2k rattle sound. The liquid moly has made the engine sound so quiet and took away the 2k rattle! Thanks for the video stang mode! I call it the morning coffee for my stang.

I am rewatching your old videos like an instruction manual in 2024.❤
Eight pistons,thirty-two valves, sixteen fuel injectors, two cam chains and tensioners ,hp fuel pump driven by cam,it's gonna make some ticking ,tapping, rattling noises.
Hey man, cera tec needs to be 6% of mix. You should use 1.8 bottles for each oil change for better results. But its good to see that one bottle already helped a lot. I’m facing the same problem in my brand new gt, so frustrating...

I've read good things about Ceratec liqui moly. You will definitely know if it's 100% good to go after about 5-6 more cold starts. Good call SM.
Patrick SETEC ASTRONOMY Rubio I know I’m almost a year late lol but it should last for 35000 miles
I work for a large company and we have about 50 2018 auto 5.0s in our fleet. About 10 of em have already produced loud piston slap. All under 25k miles

Black Mamba doesn't start, she explodes into life. Looking and sounding great.
liquid gold. I used it and I had one of the worst tapping and ceratec fixed it immediatly.
A. Wheeler it’s amazing stuff
I’m thinking about putting it in my 17! I might pour it in with the engine running, and video it
@@StangMode Does the GT350 have the same tick? I was thinking about getting an 18 or 19 GT350 but not if I have to worry about the motor exploding
Yeah I jus got mines 18 mustang gt like a month ago and yes I do have the tick I get it like when I hit 200 miles. I think its just a mustang thing... I still love my 6speed stang mane....

UA-cam is providing plenty of bad PR. The Mustang is off my shopping list.
They would not do a recall. Recalls are for safety issues. They would issue a TSB for only those who complain or actually end up having a serious problem. Then, they'll try to fix it. Usually by replacing the engine block, only to have it tick again with a new engine.

Piston slap is the cause
I had read from comments a while back that ford added something similar from the dealer. That’s why you only hear after first oil change.
F4t4l Trips very interesting if true
Geronimo the Grey Coyote how many bottles did you use?
Geronimo the Grey Coyote hey do you have a manual or auto Trans?
I own a 10 Speed Automatic .
Geronimo the Grey Coyote do you think I should use it in my manual 2018 mustang gt
G'day from down under
I'm currently arranging to have a supercharged (Roush) Mustang here in Australia and I'm a mechanical person (although not specifically automotive) and have been following the tick issue for some time. While I agree that Ford should be addressing this issue the fact remains that noise is caused by something and potentially (in this case) metal hitting metal. Therefore if the noise is gone, so is the cause of it. The big question now will be how long this lasts. Historically coatings aren't permanent. So I'll continue to monitor the progress here. Thanks Stangmode, love your work.
Royal purple is famous for making engines tick , not recommended
Just might be the trick. I agree with both sides, It shouldn't be ticking and if it should Ford should just come out and tell people that. If it is normal and you can just do this additive then boom, fixed the issue. Have a Merry Christmas sir!
These noises are normal. My 15,16,17 gt had it and my 17 Shelby also has it.
that stuff really works...... i have never used it in my mustang but i have used it in other cars .....nice vid!
will adding this ceratec void the warranty? i just bought the 18 gt and wonder
It's in my car. Worked for a few thousand miles but the tick is slowly coming back. Don't worry about your warranty, as long as you don't tell them about it they will never in a thousand years find out.
...O.K...but how about the warranty if FORD maybe check the engine in case of something gets worse?
So just 1 bottle of Ceratec needed to fix the ticking problem right?
I noticed a tick after installing headers it’s not under warranty so I’m going to keep letting it feel the boost
If you buy a brand new car you shouldn't have to add an additive to the engine to make it run smoother or quieter.
Sounds a lot better. Before putting that stuff in, did the car still tick after it warmed up?
I have a 2017 Ford Mustang GT it takes 8 quarts of oil do I put all eight in before I put the oil treatment in
Wow HUGE difference. I need me some of that. Hope you get well soon.
5W30 and Ceretec is just a bandaid fix. The tic will eventually come back due to the bad rod bearing clearances getting worse over time.
Great video! Thanks for the new product review. Something to think about on my 1,900mi one. Also, if you dont mind, why did you change front grille back to stock? I want to change mine, but not if you had fitment issues with aftermarket. Keep up the great vids!
Mark Hollingsworth happy u enjoyed
Sounds good, man. Way better afterwards.
ford bought back my 2018 last month
How long was the process?
Great video I read someone else's comment about coyote carguy he also mentioned this product. Less friction has to be good. Get better winter sucks.
miles Hiles thanks will do
You have an exhaust leak for sure.
Carbon trails would be a dead giveaway
Are you sure it's not an exhaust leak? Had the same noise. Turned out to be a small exhaust leak between the mid pipe and shorty headers. Tightened the bolts down and it went away.
Def difference from the first clip. Also look into the stuff that Coyote Car Guy was using. He went with it at 1k and hasn't gotten the tick.
Did you use one 300mL bottle or two as the instructions suggest? We have 10 quarts to treat.
I'm almost ceratin it's very minor piston slap. Ceratec is a really good friction modifier. Used it on mine, and the tick is almost completely gone.
Is that a one time use additive or do you have to add it every time you change the oil?
Gern geschehen 😜 I like your videos, bro. Greetings from Germany ✌️
You didnt get the noise til after you got the headers installed...?
My 2014 has the same noise...and guess when it came about? Yes, on the first startup after installing my offraod exhaust. LoL
Hakuna matata
look up moly basics, and redline 5w30 will also quiet these ticking engines
It Sounds good! I plan on using this if I develop the tick but so far so good. I think I don’t have it as of now because when I did twin turbos on my 2019 I used the joe Gibbs 5w 50 racing oil specifically made for the coyote motor. Put 10w30. Maybe the oil is not thick enough during cold start so its making it tick. I would be more concerned with a knocking sound tbh

Sounds good. That’s crazy. Wonder if it will last though...
I drive a 2007 Saleen F150 truck it has 11100.00 miles on it. It’s stock, no mods. I think it started ticking at 9k miles.
once ceratec is added and mixes with the oil does it look like that milky color from the product itself or does it blend with the oil and you can’t tell it’s been added ?

I didn't even recognize you without your shades.
you should 1 and half bottle 1 300 ml is good for up to 5 liters and the next oil change just add 1
you should get carbon front fenders, hood and trunk lid for the MAMBA so that you can get lower et,s
You didn't fix it you just covered it up for a while.
Is the tick you are referring to a noise other than the fuel injection, which I have been told is a constant ticking sound increases and decreases with rpm? By the way luv the black Mamba. Do you have links to purchase the chin and grill light kit? ✌

really feeling better about my 2017 5.0 , really hope this works out for you 2018 guys
You do realize the piston slap issue is in all 5.0 engines sense 2011 right
I had thesame tic on my 2019gt with only 5000 miles. I started using 93 octane gas from Exonn Mobil and the tic is gone. Don't know why but that stopped the tic. Just wanted to share. By the way nice video.
Black mamba sounds angry when u wake it up. It's like kicking a lion in the butt.
Fast 94 lol good metaphor
Sounded more like kicking a sleeping Lion in his nuts... LOL
ANGRY
Ceratec soon will put a sign on that bottle very soon HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BY FORD COMMUNITY. Happy New Year Stangmode
Sounds better for sure
The catless longtubes make the tick even louder.
Did you do an actual cold start after you used the stuff? I've heard that the tick goes away anyway after it warms up. Just some food for thought.
People keep saying the "tick" is piston slap, a coating or other such treatment won't stop piston slap so the tick must be something else right?
You are welcome! I see you followed my suggestion.
lorenzo cinquini definitely thanks again brother
I been telling people about this for the longest
I don’t care if it’s covering my engine tick!! I hate hearing it and this amazingly did the trick!! Thanks guys
I put it in this morning and it’s gone!
Joshua Millican yep
She sounds so good on startup. Is this her first winter? I’m only wondering because she might have a summer oil that is to thick in the cold or to thin I can’t remember which one. Dude I just got a new toy I’ll be posting a reveal video soon. Im a long time fan. I don’t comment on every video but I do when I feel like I can add something.
Godddd damnnnn that's loud for a start up
@Stangmode You need 2 bottles of Cera Tec, the pp1 like your used 10qts of oil. One bottle of Cera Tec treats up to 5 quarts.
Just wanted to ask, does it matter if the transmission is manual? Can I still use this additive?
To me, it seems the tick is gone because we are specifically listening for it or any tick. And, now, there is no tick. No matter how we adjust our hearing, there is no tick, which suggest the placebo effect would be to adjust our hearing to hear a tick even when there isn't a tick. We strain so hard to hear a tick that we think we hear a tick.
Its the molybdenum coating the parts but too much of it is a bad thing for cam phasers and sensors will get coated with the stuff. Mazda are the only ones who have perfected the additive to their oil.
Hey man. Got the product after your video. The package claims 1bottle is good for 5QT. DID YOU PIT 2 BOTTLES IN? please let me know
2 bottles
Here's some information I've found on the "tics" forbiddendiesel.com/n-9-whats-a-cam-phaser-and-why-is-it-important.html
and forbiddendiesel.com/n-4-ford-v8-ticking-noise.html
The tick is normal when cold start, then go away when warm. Why do you think the 2018+ motor cover is bigger than previous years? for insulate the tick. Look under the cover, you will see insulators in both sides... just my 2 cents. Following you from Puerto Rico!
Im sorry man, but i can 100% tell you Ford isn't gonna use that thin cover to try and hide the tick. That would just be a very dumb, and bad attempt form a company who has millions of dollars and very smart engineers.
They are smarter than that
@@quickdrive3488 obviously the cover will not hide the tick 100%, but if you remove it, you will hear it louder...
The cover is not designed to cover the sound of the tick. That sounds ridiculous
Ok bro, whatever...
Hmmmm. Interesting. I might try it on my next oil change and pending the blackstone labs results.
FullAutoGT when you have your oil result back from blackstone. Can you email it to me to compare? alwayzsoyoung at yahoo.com
I have my result for the first 3,000 miles.
Sounds 100% better and watched this in 7.1 surround sound lol
Switch007 ha! Nice you probably heard my phlegm come thru in surround sound too lol
@@StangMode NAH THE rain hitting the ground blocked it out LOL rest up
I was at Ford Last week about the tick, they acted like my 2019 Mustang Gt was the first one the had a complaint about! The same dealer the put in * quarts of oil instead of 10,them tried to bullshit me about it!
The Germans are coming 🤣🤣
Well, we already know what ceramic coating the outside of your car does.. so why wouldn't it help in side as well. Not all engines come with piston coating and things of that nature. It almost sounds like it smoothed it out enough to lesson or eliminate the noise... whatever it actually is. Lol I think it's a great idea.. I knew about this company because I drive a VW Jetta daily. They are high quality crafted.. and expensive.. but you get what you pay for. I'll be getting me some on my next oil change for the high mileage benefits. We are always on that friction and non-friction goals where it's needed lol
Took in my 2017 gt for an oil change at 6500 miles came home and realized i had a tick when i got home,,when will this be a recall
Wow its cold up there by you and it's so warm here
steven hanna ha rub it in
@@StangMode I was just telling my f150 lightning buddies in the us iam still waiting for boost weather here in the bahamas
