@@alphazoomii9408 If you have a bad EX gasket with a small leak it can sometimes sound a lot like a ticking noise and it will change with the temperature of the parts, because of the expansion, but from what I can hear on StangMode car the ticking noise is too high of a pitch and too short of a duration for that.
A header will tick a couple of times when it gets hot ,and when it cools down ,never a constant tick , you have a constant tick I can hear it from the oil pan .( Ford will never admit there’s some thing wrong ) Love the car , love what you did to it. I had an 18 got a tick at 2000 miles got rid of it , got a 19 now my fingers are crossed .
My 2019 auto has a tick on cold starts but eventually goes away. It also has that engine whine which is normal too. That's what Track mode on the Active Exhaust is for...tick and whine-be-gone!
Dude that's not the headers, if anything its amplifying what's happening in the engine. SS will not charter like that when heated, yes it will expand and contract from heating and cooling but that's not what's happening here.
Headers do amplify internal engine noise, heck when I put SLP 1 3/4 shortys on my 95 Z28 it got a lot louder in the engine bay, not to mention the occasional loose bolt or blown header gasket.
A loose header would not make a distinguishable "tick" noise. Loose metal parts vibrate and rattle(a backed out header bolt can give the exhaust leak noise that sounds like a tick), a lot of people suck at distinguishing noises correctly.
Yea headers are loose....they just put them in.... I highly doubt it is header related but maybe it's just making that noise louder, whatever it is. His tick sounded different than others though.
Header tick goes away after warming up due to metal expanding unless you have blown gasket . Remember header wall thickness is thinner than factory manifolds . Being overhead cams I don't know if roller tappets on cam lobe are hydraulic or mechanical ? I'm use to a Hayabusa 1300 which are mechanical tappets . Meaning you have to shim the valves if cam swap or valve work . Unless you hear it when it's at operating temps I wouldn't worry about it .

thats ur crankshaft bearings. check ur oil...drop the oil pan and check for crank play. check crank bearings for wear. coming from a former owner of 5 mustangs.
Did you have it before the headers no ? Most aftermarket gasket are cheap junk F ord uses multi layer metal gaskets some aftermarket are like that too.
I think the tick is from too much crank end play. The tick noise is the crank moving front to back hitting the thrust bearings. Listen with a stethoscope at the back of the oil pan. You'll hear the noise right at the end of the crank.
You can have this crank end play and tick and not have bearing material in the oil yet. But the tick eventually turns into a knock and the thrust bearing fails causing the other main bearings to fail. And at that point there will be metal in the oil. And time for a new long block. I'm not saying I'm right. But I have a 2014 stage 3 roush with 22k on it. I dont have the typewriter tick but I do have some other top end ticks. It is not the headers. You don't get so even ticks from lose bolts. However if the engine use port injectin when it starts as this is more stable in a cold engine and when it gets hot it switch to more fuel efficient direct injectin the sound would go from no ticking to ticking at the same sound level. Heat expansin does not create on/off sound nor does other parts of the engine except maybe the vct which probably also change when the engine gets hot.
My buddy's 16 and my 14 5.0 tick after oil changes. They both started after using royal purple. We went back to redline oil and a zinc additive. Tick goes away after a little wear in. I have long tubes and that's not an exhaust noise.

The tick most are complaining about it the direct injection. Its totally normal operation. I found it using a wireless chassis ear. It is louder now that i put headers on except when im accelerating i dont hear it (for some strange reason 🤔😝)
James Holmes what i see is a lot of people who had engines replaced to “fix” the tick, not because they engine blew. But strangely enough they have a tick still. I dont really care. I just laugh at all the people concerned. Its a solenoid that is mounted on the side of the engine block. Hence why the 18s have this noiceI also changed the oil at 17miles on my 18 with mobil 1 0-30. The thinner weight oil gets into places better. I learned with the 4.6l. Ford engines like thin oil
When my headers were bad the tick didn't happen until I pressed the gas it would last for like 5 secs then it got worst over time like really loud. Mechanic told me my header gaskets were shot
trust me its not your headers, the only way it could be your headers is if your fuel trims are off etc, any tuner in this world would know that. coyotes are notorious for valve noise, as soon as i put headers on my stang it made that ticking noise i promise you its all valves lol. ive gone through numerous tuners and they all say the same thing.

@@StangMode I always use 1 quart and it's done the trick! Here's the link for it. I swear by this stuff lol lucasoil.com/products/engine-oil-additives/pure-synthetic-oil-stabilizer
StangMode. Lucas will help. I buy and sell cars and use it all the time. Its helped on several vehicles
Do only the 18's have engine problems? How about the 19's?
My 19 ticks. 1000miles
Venom kills Demons
Doesn’t sound like the typewriter tick. But a lot is mustangs have it stock without headers
I hate noises like that. My last foxbody it was a head gasket. My 01 pickup had it, found a sticking lifter. Only way to find out, is start digging.
It's gonna be all good, might get a few things changed out under warranty also.
I’ve got an 18 crimson mustang and I have not heard a tic coming from the car but the car only has 1400 miles on it so I guess I’ll have to wait and see I’ll be doing exhaust from magna-flow soon so I hope that no tic comes from that
What kind of wheels are those and where can I buy them. Thanks
I have a 2019 Mustang GT PP1 just put 700 miles on it and it has the tick only on cold starts and some times when its hot. some times its kind of loud and some times its quiet. It kind of remeind me of my cats really I park in a Garage and when I turn off the car the cats sometime tick cuz they are cooling down. Its kind of that same noise. I think maybe we have bad cats?
Not to disagree with your boys but bone stock ones make that exact noise so I personally do not think it’s the headers...
HI bro I start to have the same rick .please advice how you fix it
Good luck with the car brother
thanks !
Thanks, StangMode. Interesting info. There are rumors floating around about a Ford recall regarding the ticking. So even if the headers are causing a tick, the Black Mamba may still need a fix from Ford. Maybe not, just sayin'. Love the buffing job they did on the side. Looks better and cleaner, and I think there will be less air resistance on the track. Keep us up to date on the Black Mamba. I miss her! ❤️️
thanks bro, I will definitely keep you posted
Drop a big super charger on the focus you'll get your fix for a few stangmode.
Ryan Montgomery ha!
StangMode can't replace the beast but it help:)
I think the engine rattle at 2200 rpm might be more of a problem. Ford needs to provide answers to stop the madness!!
Stress less StangMode... i know shes your pride and Joy but that tick isn't that bad and yeah i had same issue with my Chev SS and was the headers..... :)
It's not the hearts and the ss is a push rod the coyote isnt 2 massively different engines
Andrew Bartholomew ok
Wouldn’t worry to much about. Every coyote I’ve heard have the same tick. My 18 ticks away on cold starts but once warm it’s still there but not as bad.
Kona Stang18 exactly
Tick is tick..shouldn’t be there.. which means two objects are hitting each other that shouldn’t be
@@justa5oh136 thats right, my 16 had tick when cold which was piston slap, would go away when warm as they where heat expanded, Ford took it apart and ended up finding scoring in the sleeves and replaced the engine. No this is not healthy.
Chattering An knocking is not really a tick. All my new fords I have a 18 raptor that has direct port an my 18 gt has direct port noise. My 18 gt also started out with a tick now has progressed into a knockdown chatter. You can hear it all on my page Underfedcoyote.
James Holmes my girlfriend works for ford we have a 18 raptor An 18 mustang gt. An ford wants nothing to do with my car. Until my last video check it out on my channel. Underfedcoyote also have great races with my raptor An mustang
The tick most are complaining about it the direct injection. Its totally normal operation. I found it using a wireless chassis ear. It is louder now that i put headers on except when im accelerating i dont hear it (for some strange reason 🤔😝)
James Holmes i follow most every 18 mustang owner. Except for a person who pushes the limit with boost.
Ford engines like thin oil
waiting for that one "tech" to get back from vacation that your cool with, so hopefully he will sign his name & tell FORD your car is stock, LOL.
😉
18 gts are a gamble when you buy them with all the issues they have out of pocket would be a nightmare
@StangMode exhaust cold start...👍🏼
That was a treat he he
Like everyone else said that’s not the headers at all.....that’s the same tick all the 18’s have
My mate ova here in Australia has a 2016 Mustang and the tick in his was the gouch in the merge collector.
Ford got it fixed?
@@yhakult what was the diogenes?
intermittent tick is not headers, headers give more or a ting, valve would be constant...... i KNOW they have lower end problems
When my headers were bad the tick didn't happen until I pressed the gas it would last for like 5 secs then it got worst over time like really loud. Mechanic told me my header gaskets were shot
how much was that fix?
It was like 270 I think
trust me its not your headers, the only way it could be your headers is if your fuel trims are off etc, any tuner in this world would know that. coyotes are notorious for valve noise, as soon as i put headers on my stang it made that ticking noise i promise you its all valves lol. ive gone through numerous tuners and they all say the same thing.
Not the headers... Tick is due oil starvation or excess clearance.....just a heads up, fully run in motors don't tick
My challengers in the shop getting visual upgrades but I feel your pain I'm stuck driving a RAV4 I think I would rather drive the focus
wonder if I can get a loan mustang lol
I guess so but my interest rates border on loan sharking
I have a 2011 gt and it tics after oil changes and then eventually goes away, but it doesn’t tic when its cold. Its been doing this for years. Anyone have any ideas?
My 11 does it too.
My 12 GT ticks now & again. Coyote character trait. Done it since I bought it with 18k miles. Still does it with over 75k miles. Still runs strong but always good to watch the oil & other fluids for indicators of any possible issues.
My 16 gt does the same thing also.
15 min of my life gone. Video has nothing useful just a guy who likes to hear himself talk
Brah...what time are those?
Headers will magnify all the noises your hearing. LS motors do it as well.
