45 years ago, I doubt the fortunate audience at the Rockpalast in Offenbach, Germany realized they were listening to a historic performance. This is peak Linda Ronstadt, and she never played with a finer group of musicians.
No gimmicks, no promps, no backup singers, no lights, no anything but PURE talent!!!!! Youngsters, please wach this and be in awe of what you will never experiance!!!
@@rschneider77 You are just too young to know and appreciate genuine talent as it unfortunately, very hard to identify in this modern day of NO talent needed.
I must also add, not surprisingly, how very disrespectful you are. Just goes along with my deduction how the music and those who appreciate it have changed. You enjoy yours and I will enjoy mine and never a twain will meet.
@rd3271 totally agree but what you have to remember there is no cure for stupid, so just keep on listening to greatest sound you will ever hear stay strong linda ❤🌹
I am thankful that she was in my life for fifty plus years. Still got her first album. Stone Pony’s (sp.? )Being a musician myself, she will remain one of the greatest pleasures of my life.
"It Doesn't Matter Anymore" is a pop ballad written by Paul Anka and recorded by Buddy Holly in 1958. The song reached number 13 as a posthumous hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in early 1959, shortly after Holly died in a plane crash on February 3, 1959. The single was a two-sided hit, backed with "Raining in My Heart". "It Doesn't Matter Anymore" was Holly's last US Top 20 hit and featured the orchestral backing of Dick Jacobs. It was also successful in the United Kingdom, where it became the country's first posthumous number 1 hit. (Wikipedia)
Another Ronstadt tune (next to "Long Long Time") that Ive never forgotten the words to... still could sing this from start to finish, every single word. As a teen gal in the 70's, I had a few broken hearts that I recovered from with my Linda Ronstadt records... I don't think I would've made it through some of those painful young heartbreaks without her songs to 'put it all into words' for me at the time... (Thank you, Linda), ;-)
What you say is exactly what I feel about this song. It is beyond sad in what it says about trying to pick yourself up after a relationship that has ended because the other person wants out. You try so hard to convince yourself that that person will no longer matter. Linda conveys that pain, that sadness, that fighting against futility and her musicians give it added depth..
I've loved this song since I first heard Buddy Holly did it in 1959, Linda made me love it all over again, what a great interpretation of this song.[2020 Michael]
My God.....She did this 100% on talent. No dancers, no costumes, no auto-tune. She would be a failure today. Talent does not matter in the times we are in.
First, what an amazing song, written by Paul Anka. Second, good God , she couldn't have sang it any better. Third, I love the way she starts dancing at a couple of different times, so cute, she's like a little kid just having a blast.....
daniel leary SHE IS AS FAR FROM GOOD AS YOU CAN GET. GOOD IS TOO.WEAK OF A WORD TO DESCRIBE HER. I FEEL LIKE PHENOMENAL IS TOO WEAK A WORD. PERFECTION MAY STILL BE TOO WEAK OF A WORD. I DON'T KNOW WHAT WORD FITS AN ANGEL LIKE LINDA
She left "The Stone Poneys" well before this, also no member of the eagles where part of the stone poney's. Glenn Frey and Don Henley briefly backed her up but decided the create their own band. A move which she gave them all of her support and one which they were forever grateful to her. They toured with her band during the mid 70's. Don Henley used to dog the Rock and Roll hall of fame every chance he got for how long it took them to induct her. Glenn Frey inducted her. The Stone Poneys didn't do much after she left, one interesting fact, Different drum their most popular song was written by michael nesmith before he joined the monkee's, it's a small world!
Buddy Holly's version is triumphalist, like "ha, I'll find someone else". This interpretation is about loss and pointing out the absurdity of how someone who was just really important to you so recently can be just sort of dismissed. Cool how she did that.
Dolly said that Ms. Ronstadt was one of the three greatest women singers. Emmylou said "Obviously, she has one of the most gorgeous voices that has ever existed." Pat Benatar said: "One of the most gorgeous voices on earth." This ballad of the broken heart is gorgeous, especially the final refrain "And you won't matter any more".
I saw it live in 1976 in Philadelphia. Still gives me chills. Can't remember who the opening act was, but it might have been Leo Kotte. She was also touring with Firefall around that time. But this was an AWESOME show, and Linda is the good.
Interesting how so often beautiful talented women sing very emotion lyrics written by men. Its a man's thoughts, his true emotions - but like a drug when sung by a great female singer
I wonder if she knew how many of us MEN from the 670's were in love w/Linda? What a doll. Stone ponies anyone? The eagles were her band in the early 70's? Tru Srtory.
I wasn't even ALIVE in the 70s or 80s (i was born in 1993) and linda is better than 99% of pop stars from 2006-from here on out other.than equally talent Katy Perry
I was 11 in '76 and I was now allowed to where "hoops" (earrings like Linda Ronstadt) - and I was also allowed to where a (fake) rose in my hair - I had three red (like Linda's) and Pink and Yellow - and the only reason I think I got away with this is because my mom (and me) loved Linda Ronstadt....

Sorry, you're WRONG: Anka also wrote "It Doesn't Matter Anymore" a song written for Buddy Holly which Holly recorded just before he died in 1959. Anka stated shortly afterward: "It Doesn't Matter Anymore" has a tragic irony about it now, but at least it will help look after Buddy Holly's family. I'm giving my composer's royalty to his widow - it's the least I can do." NME - June 1959[7]
One of the best singers of her generation. Truly underrated in the music biz.
45 years ago, I doubt the fortunate audience at the Rockpalast in Offenbach, Germany realized they were listening to a historic performance. This is peak Linda Ronstadt, and she never played with a finer group of musicians.
What a Prefonance by the Beautifully Talented Linda Ronstadt...
This is what it's like listening and watching pure perfection stay strong linda 💕 🌹
Hard to imagine a better voice and she was so beautiful
Imagine an audience that would allow a world-class singer to do her thing without interruption. How sad that it wouldn't/couldn't happen today.
Ok Boomer 😂

To quote a section of a Tina turner song Linda really was "better than all the rest" 🌹🫶
An emotional musical gift. Gifted, glorious pipes and very very feminine - without a drop of vanity.
This concert is Linda at her very best. Simply amazing.
rockin sweet powerhouse . Though she can no longer sing , we are so blessed to have these wonderful recording . Like her more than ever
Repeat....WOW!!!! Her voice is perfect, this is the third song I have listened from this concert and I am blown away on how perfect her voice is!
Susan Haskell, did you listen to Lose Again? Really great from this concert!
Staggering. This evening in Offenbach, Germany was somewhat magical for Ronstadt it seems. Wish there was a full quality release of this performance.
I would give a lot to have been there.
Great voice and singer! One of my favorite songs by her!
Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt are my favorite foxy chanteuses! They always surround themselves with excellent musicians too.
If I could travel in time this is THE concert I would go to.
daniel leary 👏👏👏
Same here, no doubt in my mind.
Absolutely.
She conveys that it does matter, not in words but in feeling, showing what a great singer she is.
Gorgeous authentic heartbreak personified. Fine band, great singer.
Beautiful...it just shows that words and such a wonderful voice explain that eventually, heartbreak 💔 is a part of life.
Can you imagine a Super Bowl halftime show with Linda headlining? Whoa! Blow the top off the stadium!
John Terrino she don't sing anymore
I never thought of that but you are so correct. I'd even watch the NFL if she was there!
It would be much better than any game ever played. :-)
ich fang jedesmal das Weinen an wenn ich dieses Lied höre!
Kann es noch was Sentimentaleres geben als dieses Lied und diese Stimme!
Easily the best female pop voice of the 70s, trust artistry.
+Chris Campbell oh yes
Of all time. You stand corrected. :-)
Boy oh boy just how pure is Linda singing here ?
Best voice in Rock..period..
I can so relate to the words in this song! Linda is pure perfection, always has been and always will be!!!!
I am thankful that she was in my life for fifty plus years. Still got her first album. Stone Pony’s (sp.? )Being a musician myself, she will remain one of the greatest pleasures of my life.
She could sing any-thing ............ RIP Linda ........ thank you
She can't sing anymore, but she's not dead!

Beutiful voice and a beautiful song❤
Ah...just listen. Linda like no other girl singer in the world.

I still listen to this song a lot. It has a lot of personal meaning. Love it!
Linda sings with a broken hearted interpretation .
She is the best ever.
Wonderful arrangement and wonderful singer. This is great.
I've loved this song since I first heard Buddy Holly did it in 1959, Linda made me love it all over again, what a great interpretation of this song.[2020 Michael]
what a great voice!
Real singing. Real instruments played by real people.
My God.....She did this 100% on talent. No dancers, no costumes, no auto-tune. She would be a failure today. Talent does not matter in the times we are in.

I've never seen anything like this. I don't remember seeing this released in 1976 or 1977. What a voice.
Thank GOD for UTUBE.. WE CALL ALL BE MERSMERISED.. BY THIS .ANGEL VOICE..
That girl sure could sing.
Sadly, there aren't any sonstresses like this any more.
This is very beautiful
DAMN SHE IS GOOD.

Mesmerizing voice
oh i love it and the time too 1976♥♥
These are just amazing, thanks for posting PretselFarmer!
beautiful accompaniment too
the band is "The Stone Pony's" known a little later as "The Eagles"
She left "The Stone Poneys" well before this, also no member of the eagles where part of the stone poney's. Glenn Frey and Don Henley briefly backed her up but decided the create their own band. Uh, No. Andrew Gold, Mike Botts, Dan Dugmore, Ken Edwards... never Eagles. Nobody on that stage actually.
IN 1976 SHE WAS NEARLY THIRTY YEARS OLD ~ born in 1946 he was the voice for many boomers
Buddy Holly's version is triumphalist, like "ha, I'll find someone else". This interpretation is about loss and pointing out the absurdity of how someone who was just really important to you so recently can be just sort of dismissed. Cool how she did that.
Thank u for sharing this favorite oldie of mine... :)

There are only two types of matter in the universe..."regular matter" and "doesn't matter".
Never heard it said this way before but I sure love it. Don't mind if I use it somewhere along the line. Thanks.
Just heavenly
So Nice! Thank you for posting this, great quality.

jessica sanchez brought me back in time..1976.. damn this one is good.
yes ms linda.
The very, very best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Almost certainly. Linda's arrangements were the best - unequalled. Eva had a pretty voice but this version is the definitive.
She is. " transplendant ". Maybe not a real word - but it sounds right for Linda in the 70s. Especially this tour.
Pure greatness
I wasn't even ALIVE in the 70s or 80s (i was born in 1993) and linda is better than 99% of pop stars from 2006-from here on out other.than equally talent Katy Perry
¡Qué bella, Linda!
Love this song to death :xxx
Too good.
merci a vous pretzelfarmer
danke
Linda Scott is also great.
awesome
Hannah Arterton does a nice job singing that song.
My DARLING..!!
Agreed ! I absolutely, love Eva's version of this, but I think Eva might have gotten a big start toward her own arrangement from Linda R.
I like Mark William singing this song
Gotta love it my fave version of this song...not sure the girlyfriend likes me listening to it though lol...
Note how she can actually sing yong people. Talking is not singing. Hitting the wrong notes is not singing. Miley Cyrus? Kiddin me?
+Debbie. I can't really compare Linda to anybody. She's just so damn good she makes almost anybody else look... not as good.

Sorry, you're WRONG:
