Really saddened by the fact that her voice has been silenced forever. There are so many things that I miss from the past, and listening to new music from her is one of them.
I can think of female voices that have (had) more nuance -- Joni Mitchell, Dionne Warwick -- but Ronstadt's voice comes very close to those, and for certain kinds of songs -- like this one -- her voice is perfectly suited. Linda is a true craftsman. She worked at developing her voice and it just kept getting better as the years went on. Fantastic clarity and her diction is flawless. When I listen to her covers of songs I find myself thinking "So that's what the words are!"
Thank you for your observations, Jim. In a 1982 interview, I heard her critique herself and state her phrasing was a weak area. I do not have a trained ear, but her phrasing on this track sounds so natural and effortless. And you're so right-clarity is outstanding. I rarely have to look up a lyric of a song she sings.
the timbre of her voice.. is just the perfect range of comfort for the human ear.. its that kind of music that just "feels" good to listen to .. hard to put into words as its an emotional experience.. well.. until you glance at where that voice is coming from..

Linda Ronstadt live was very special. Enchanting and unadorned. Looking forward to seeing the New Documentary.
Reliving the best times of Music in the 70s! This song with Linda Ronstadt is definitely a top moment in music history
I fell in love with LInda in the early 70's. I was so fortunate to have seen her live in Concert in Austin in the early 70's while at UT. I will never forget it. I still love her. My all time favorite female singer. Never a greater talent in our lifetime. She is still an Angel that just doesn't sing anymore. God Speed OMG
Such a lovely smile from Linda at the end
I've been within 5 feet of this angel twice back in the 70's. Two different towns. Our eyes have met. 50 years later, I'm still spellbound. Best female vocalist ever. ❤
Linda and band: Absolutely sensational rendition. Linda's vocal performance, and the backing harmonies from the musicians, are simply tremendous in this first-class performance. The emotions and soul of this great number would have to make Smokey proud.
Celestial and Earthy. Best live pipes on the planet and beyond.
Prisoner in Disguise is one of my all time favorite albums. Always playing it. Thank you Linda for your wonderful gift to us all.
Linda Ronstadt turned 74 this very day! Congratulations ms. Ronstadt! I've been listening to your beautiful voice and music for more than 50 years now (i'm 59 myself). I'm so sorry that Parkinson's disease has taken it's toll on your live en forced you to stop singing. I wish you strength and all the best from a fan from the Netherlands and I'm pretty sure also on behalf of all your fans all over the world. Fortunately I can still enjoy all your songs and performances on UA-cam. It reminds me how great and beautiful personality you are. Yours truly.
I want to turn back my clock if not to only experience concerts like hers and many others ALMOST as GREAT!!!😢
(THANKS YOU-TUBE!!!!!!)
Beautiful voice! She has influenced so many singers. There’s only one Linda-once in a lifetime.
I don't need to live forever. I just wish I--we all--could stay young until it's time to check out of this life.
Linda is a true craftsman. She worked at developing her voice and it just kept getting better as the years went on. Fantastic clarity and her diction is flawless. When I listen to her covers of songs I find myself thinking "So that's what the words are!"
It´s not even a diction thing. It´s about telling a story. Not many singers can do that.
Oh yes hearing her sing and hearing that musicians do their magic ....feels like being in heaven
and her vibrato is hypnotic at times especially on her Spanish tunes
The voice.....AND the LOOKS!!!
I love the way the camera focused on her face for a while after the song, trying to capture as much cuteness as possible.
Thanks for your comment and for being a fan, God bless you.. I text you on here because you're a big fan and you seems to be a very nice person
