Whenever I'm feeling old I watch Linda Ronstadt and thank the heavens that I was a teenager during the 70s. I remember sitting on the floor near my turntable. I played her albums over and over. What do teens have now? Not trying to put them down, but Linda Ronstadt was and is one of a kind. Never to be equaled.
It is very difficult to imagine how ANYONE who is listening carefully to this voice could give it a thumbs down. I cannot understand that. Just listen to her tone, and the feeling in it, and the EASE with which she achieves falsetto with no break whatsoever in the smoothness and perfection of her tone.
Here’s how that happens: The listener, lying in bed, iPhone hand-to-ear, head against pillow. They’re re-playing Linda, a lullaby from long-ago, her beautiful voice astounding, yet soothing…the listener is transported; the heaviness of heart is lifted. Finally, falling asleep-their grip loosens; their fingers graze across the screen. Next morning, their iPhone buried beneath a comforter, is more than 18 songs away from Linda’s lovely song…now blaring is a news program. That’s how a thumbs-down happens. However, the downvote option is mostly gone now. I’m glad. I can sleep more soundly now.
As a teenager in the '60s and '70s. Linda Ronstadt was my first love. She never knew it but I felt it. And here I am a 70 now and I still love Linda. Here's to you Linda Ronstadt beautiful woman, beautiful voice❤🎉🎉🎉😂🎉
Roll up, roll up, step up and do it better than Linda, come on all you 'greats' of today, I DARE YOU, you couldn't come close, couldn't hold a candle to her, pitch perfect, perfect phrasing, perfect timing, absolutely gifted. I feel absolutely blessed to have lived in the same time slot, won't see the likes of you again Linda, thank you very much.
2014... she finally was recognized and inducted into the hall of fame! one of the, if not THE greatest female voices ever! God bless you linda, and thank you!
yep... the greatest ... if my heart and soul could have morphed into a human form it would be Linda Ronstadt in the 1970s. Every boy loved her, every girl wanted to be her. Still to this day I feel 100% the same way.
No doubt. Linda Ronstadt was the single most talented female vocalist's ever. The famous chicks that sing today are absolute garbage compared to Linda when she was in her prime. Or really even after she was no longer in her prime. The female singers today leave so much to be desired. Back in the day you could go to a concert and be entertained by top quality musicians who concentrated on the music and ignored all the rest of the BS hype. They played their sets and the whole thing was just about the songs. Those days are all but gone now. Today's music scene is just a bunch of over paid, self centered, egoist, devil worshipers, who on the best day of their entire lives could never reach the level of pure greatness that Linda Ronstadt consistently operated at for her entire career. Linda Ronstadt was the single greatest female vocalist to ever hit the stage. She's one of a kind. Back in the 70's there were people that were crazy about Stevie Nicks. But Stevie Nicks never had the chops, the power, the range, or the beautiful tone quality, and perfect pitch, that Linda Ronstadt was born with. God Almighty created Linda Ronstadt and then he broke the mold. And that is as it should be. :-I
Linda Ronstadt is one of just a very few singers, that when she performs a song, no matter who performed it before her. It's as if she was the only one who ever sang it. It becomes hers. That is some where beyond just singing a tune.
+Ronnie Bishop I agree. She was amazing. She made every song she sang her own. There are very few singers who can add something to the originals, particularly when these are classics but she did, didn't she? I think it is because she so respected a song; so focused on the song and there was no Diva emoting anywhere. Lets face it, this is a woman who made a song about a big rig driver travelling the back roads to avoid the weigh-bridges and consuming pretty much all substances known to man really interesting and worth listening to. She sang songs by band members and made them. She is generous as well as talented and gorgeous.
+Ronnie Bishop Elvis is the greatest of all-time, but Linda is, by far, the best female singer. She's like Elvis in the sense that she's the perfect combination of voice, looks, and stage presence. I love Linda. Especially in love with 60's and 70's Linda. Her beauty hurts.
Jake Miller the first time I heard her speak I was floored. I could not believe it. I can’t think of a single artist who’s speaking voice and singing voice are so different sounding as hers are.
@@tjwash5118 Absolutely agree, I too was incredulous when I heard her speaking voice. A phenomenal transformation occurred when it shifted gears and became that exceptional instrument.
Linda Ronstadt us the undisputed queen of songbirds. Take it in now and enjoy. If we live for 100 million years, we shall never again see the likes of Linda Ronstadt. If ther is a god, she would still perform,
Ronstadt's pipes were glorious, flexible, powerful and tender. Linda had what jazz players called " big ears" - not only a mesmerizing singer but a fine, gorgeous unadorned band leader. The Boyz were devoted to her - how rare to be that beloved in a dirty rotten business.
I too am a Parkinson sufferer and it grieves me so that this lady with a special voice has succumbed to this awful affliction. It causes many problems with everyday living. Let's hope that a cure can be found for everyone's sake. Good luck to Linda - she deserves our prayers for the many happy memories we have of her performing days..
Prayers for your comfort too. I noticed your message showed what a good hearted person you are you kept it all about her and other who suffer with out any regards to your own pain . You are 'Top Shelf' wish the world had more like you.
God promises no more pain or suffering or tears if we trust Jesus who paid our sin debt in full while we didn't care. He took it on for us, and now if we just put our faith in Him?
Instead of offering inane, meaningless platitudes, if you were REALLY serious about it, sufferer or not, get off your god bothering asses and do something about it, donate to SCIENTIFIC research, hold a fund raiser, do ANYTHING but pray, NOTHING FAILS LIKE PRAYER!!
@@brdwonder How about Billie Ellish, or Taylor Swift, and many more..... I bring up these two to highlight the multimedia world we live in today. Don't get me wrong I love Linda Ronstadt and her uniquely beautiful looks and voice.

That's the difference between a good singer covering someone else's song and the rest of us. She is just special - and i am just 🤢 green..! Thankfully only God can hear me sing along 💓
Someone recently said " Like an exorcism - Ronstadt takes the soul of a song and transforms it into her own." Others may own the copywrite but the song is in her very being. Very rare and very impressive. Powerful and tender.

Once in 1979, I was working on an early morning radio information show. It was the morning of New Year’s Eve. We were coming up to the end of the show and just because, I wanted to play Blue Bayou, just because it was the end of the seventies. So much had happened. It seemed like the turning of the tide for so many reasons. We were caught up in the spell of Linda and the song, the ache of loss for something beautiful that had slipped away forever. We back timed it so the song took us up to the very end of the show. When the song was done and we were off the air, I realized everyone in the studio had tears in their eyes.
A true artist. During her Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction it took five amazing, (mostly) legendary women to even BEGIN to come close to covering Linda Ronstadt's range, dynamics, and tone...not to mention her power and pathos. This live performance starting with just her and the guitar shook me to the core. Forty years of life gone by and the timbre of Linda's voice sent the same exact chill over me as it did when I was a young girl--when the lyrics wouldn't have held the same weight. Here she made me cry anew.
Just another beautiful song in the hands of Linda Ronstadt. What is on display here is one of the finest voices and performers of the 20th century. Not only could Linda sing and play, but she had such a fine ear for the songs she chose and when she did choose them, they almost immediately became her own. "Desperado" comes to mind. A song that was brilliantly written and performed by the Eagles, yet whenever I think about it, I only think of Linda's voice in my mind.
Oh that voice, that style of interpreting a song, that look. I was deeply sad when I learned that Parkinson's took her voice but I thank God we have this precious body of work from her. Amazing talent, personality. Thank you, Linda
The voice of an angel! Must've been tough when she realized her voice started to fade. But she touched many! Very classy lady, too! Tucson, AZ's pride! Peace from Tucson, AZ! ✌
She goes right from giving the song a little intro and then pops right into the melody, with PERFECT TONE, PERFECTLY ON-PITCH and just beautiful vibes. LINDA, we miss you!! Voice of an angel!!
I remember reading once, a long time ago, that Linda considered herself an "interpreter" of songs. I say that just about sums it up. She grasps the emotion and uses the proper inflection at just the right spots and sells the song. Probably the reason men and women all love her.
Right - I was just going to post that. I've seen her so many times on TV and in concert from the early days and pretty sure I never saw her play guitar. Not a complicated thing on guitar, but still nice to see.
Linda Ronstadt is of course one of the greatest female vocalists of all time. She has beautiful voice, and she is very beautiful too. Thank you Linda, for many of the good songs for us. I love you, wish you to overcome the illness and get healthy soon.
A while back I added this vid to a playlst: GUITAR SURPRISES Guitar by people you might not expect to play guitar. Now, playiing the list I watched this through the intro and as soon as she opened her mouth tears sprang from my eyes.
A true musical gift .My favorite female vocalist hands down. She sings from the heart and that's what sets her apart along with just being good person. Thank you for the music Linda.
Your fan for life, you are too good, all your music has a good impact on our lives, anyway I will still be one of your passionate fans forever.Good health and all the best
Linda was a pretty lady, (Beautiful) could sing, could really play guitar, played live. The whole package. No wonder I was in Love. Linda Ronstadt = TALENT!
Born in 1952. Still listening to this beautiful voice May 12, 2021. She was best female vocalist of my life. I loved her from a great distance. Hers is the only voice that even compared to the late great otherworldly voice of Carl Wilson. I loved him, too.
I believe you could have presented any song to Linda asking her to sing it better than it's ever been sung before -- and 95% of the time she did just that.
Honestly Miley Cyrus when she's actually singing has a pretty good voice and fantastic control of it. Too bad she buries it in so much electronic crap.
Can you imagine just Linda and her voice commanding the Argentina of a large concert venue! You could hear a pin drop as concert goers listened anticipating every note she sang! A truly great talent !
Ah, Linda. Pitch perfect and so very lovely. To me, the greatest female singer of her era. A National Treasure. ❤

It’s a combination of the fact that she is remarkable and the vast majority of today’s singers are so completely unremarkable.
Every time I watch this it brings tears to my eyes.
The prettiest voice ever..!!!
That voice! Gorgeous.
The very best female vocalist of the 20th century.
She was good, but please...
God sure blessed her with a beautiful voice and took it away. Every time I hear her sing anymore I tear up.
Your fan for life, you are too good, all your music has a good impact on our lives, anyway I will still be one of your passionate fans forever.Good health and all the best
Gorgeous talented singer songwriter my idol. Linda R. A long longer life to you linda
She sings this song so beautifully
I died twice during this video. Her voice kills me. There's nothing like it in the Universe. Just Linda.
The voice of an Angel! 💋
I love when she talks at her concerts. She really is so intelligent and funny.
To quote Dolly Parton - “ Linda could sing Anything “ - The Best ! 👍
Her voice is so beautiful it can bring you to tears.
Linda is an amazing human being, beautiful and talented, very modest, and forever giving her love to us all...She will never be forgotten !
Greatest female singer of all time ❤️🔥🕊🤗😎
What a tribute to the great Buddy Holly by the great Linda Ronstadt
Oh joy, oh rapture. Always believed Linda's voice. In person she was sublime - only female pipes for me.
This is one of Lindas sweetest songs and from the heart. I keep coming back to see and listen to this great Classic And her beauty.
Saw Linda in the 70s, don't remember the year, but ill never forget it. The Jersey shore Asbury Park was the venue. She was awesome!
Magnificent
This is what a singing angel looks like....
I believe you could have presented any song to Linda asking her to sing it better than it's ever been sung before -- and 95% of the time she did just that.
Back in the days when those with true talent could sit alone in dim lit light and be SPECTACULAR!!! Not much talent today that can pull that off.
Roxane Mathis I wish they’d let them try more often though.
Honestly Miley Cyrus when she's actually singing has a pretty good voice and fantastic control of it.
Too bad she buries it in so much electronic crap.
You need to broaden your horizons gecause there is a plethora of very talented singers , stop just looking at the charts
Yup. About the only candidate is Rachael Price with Lake Street Dive.
REALLY!!! Spare Me.
Can you imagine just Linda and her voice commanding the Argentina of a large concert venue!
You could hear a pin drop as concert goers listened anticipating every note she sang! A truly great talent !
