Two spacers come in the kit, if you want to do all 4 tires you will need 2 kits.
2 Minute Tuesday: Installing wheel spacers on a 5th Gen Toyota 4Runner is a quick and easy way to get a wider track width. There are a few different styles from bolt-on applications to small spacers that fit just over the wheel studs between the brake rotor and the wheel. Always read the instructions before installation and make sure you tighten nuts to the proper torque.
We have lifted the 5th Gen Toyota 4Runner over four inches. When we do this, the lower control arm gets to a more extreme angle and thus bringing the wheel closer to the body. Adding wheel spacers allows us to get back to the factory stock width (if you choose). We decided to go wider :)
Trail4r Install Instructions: trail4runner.c...
*If you run wheel spacers be sure that they are properly installed and are correct for your application. Check with your local government about the legality of using wheel spacers on your vehicle as well.*

Very informative videos. I just wish you gave us more “after” pictures to see how you 4Runner looks after each install. Thanks.
Spidertrax !!! only use quality hub-centric wheel spacers. Ive had my Spidertrax on for awhile now , no issues at all. Love em'
Yes, and continually check them for safety
@@SnailTrail4x4 I check them all the time brother. I really do....my torque wrench is in my truck at all times , hehe.
Do u have any rubbing issues at all?
@@josephbalagtas8535 NONE at all with 33's (32.9s) and a 3"lift
You should have done a before and after pic, we can’t see the difference from the video view. Just saying 🤷♂️
I have 1.5" Bora spacers on my ram. Get vibrations 65-70mph. They tried to balance the tires few times still doesn't help. The Bora spacers are considered to be one of the best. Taking them off.
Did you tighten them down with the Torque Wrench? I could see how if one bolt was tighter than other bolts it could be slightly, ever-so-slightly, off. I'm running one and a half inch spacers on Bobcat and haven't had an issue. Maybe it's just those spacers?
My bora spacers are giving me trouble too. Same issue..... shaking
Installed these, twice now; every time I get a “shimmy” in the steering wheel. Used spacers in almost all of my sports cars and never had issues. Dumping them and will just get the right offset next time.
Just had the same experience in a new land cruiser. With 3 attempts to have them balanced with and they wobble like hell - they are going in the trash. Don’t waste money on these.
@@986C What brand were they? Just curious.
Omg thank u so much u finally answered my question as 2 how spacers work. I'm a visual learner so I gotta c it.
You're welcome, just make sure you check the torque on them often
@@SnailTrail4x4 for sure!!! And by often have ppl had tires fall off trailing by not checking every so often?
Bought and installed 1-1/4" SpiderTrax on a stock 2015 4Runner SR5, back in January (Amazon). $100+ per pair, two pair required. Installed per directions (torquing, etc.) Tires, BFG K02 275/70/17, were the only change from when I bought the vehicle originally. Rubbed like crazy (loud ... sharp turns ... think fast food drive-ins, parking spots or drive up ATMs). Think it was the mud flaps. Didn't like the idea of cutting away part of the flap so after a couple of months, I had them removed a week ago. No more rubbing.
Stock BFG K02 265/70R17 ... not 275/70/17.
Yes, that makes since. We call that the scrub radius. You pushed the wheel further away from the pivot point a d therefore the tires tiring radius increased
I like you channel bro good go ahead and i hope see you one day in any trail o natural park THANKS great truck
Thank you for the “user friendly” “ Barney style” videos. Keep up the good work%
Great video buddy those look identical to mine. we are running blue SpiderTrax 1.75” Wheel spacers on Monstro the last year never had a problem with them.
Did the ride change any?
I use my leg all the time when I rotated them tires too
Hi! Great video! You still running those spacers? Thinking about adding them on mine but not sure if they are safe. 🙏
Amazon link is a 404.. are these 1.25" or 1" ? and would I expect any rubbing with stock 265/70's after ? I love the look, just want a realistic idea of what to expect after.
Definitely one of the mods I have on my list. And I’ve been looking for a different set of sliders. What brand are those in particular? Super cool rig! I have a 2015 SR5.
GREAT VIDEO
I’m got a 3 inch lift and couldn’t turn from tires full range, couldn’t leave the shop had to remove the spacers or not get the tires.
Yes adding spacers increases your scrub radius
You need spacers o TOP SPACERS 1”.5 on front 1” back that give you total 4” works perfect on my truck i used 285” falken all terrain tires 17” wheels from FJ CRUISER
@@nelsonenaccion4x424 i’m confused the rear was fine. I could not turn wheels full range without serious contact with the wheel well. Are you saying i need bigger spacers or two sets on the front?
@@uspojpp no brother you good whit the wheel spacers ok now you need is strut and springs SPACERS 1”.5 front 1” on the back that is the FORMULA so you truck can looks level also is upgrade to 4” total now that is for 285/70/17 TIRES
Good job brother, great video, thanks.
Thanks, I appreciate you taking the time to leave me a comment.
these the spidertrax? nice, short and sweet video, man!.
Chris_the_fuur they look like the spider Trax ones that I have but not sure who all paints them blue.
Yes, they are Spidertrax Hub Centric spacers
285/70 R 17 tires on the 5th Gen. Did you need to do any trim work after the spacers?
Any long term effects of these spacers?
Do you need to change the lugs?
How many inches are those
Very informative video, what brand roof basket/roof rack you have on? Thanks
Did you have to drive around and then re-torque the hubs? Or did you just do the initial install and leave them? Thanks for the vids. Keep them coming.
We re check them very shortly after, than again at 100 miles, and every time we rotate the tires
Are wheel spacer safe? I hearing a lot of plp saying it's not....🙁
I have never had an issue with them personally. You need to continue to check them to make sure they are not loose
@@SnailTrail4x4 I see, I'm planning on installing 1.75" spacers on my 18' 4Runner TRD Pro. Thanks
34" tires AND spacers! The rubbing must be pretty intense, have you guys tried full flex with this setup?
we did need to do some trimming on both sides of the fender as well as cutting out the inner fender, and removing a good chunk of the body mount. Haven't ran it through its Paces in the shop, yet we have gone off roading many times.
I'm struggling with 33" tires and spacers, haha, adding adjustable upper control arms and running 4.5* of caster on both sides helped me clear the body mount for now, I'd like to step up to 34"
Well on my 4runner i got 4” lift drive perfect
?? why nobody use 1.5 spacers.
Should I use thread lock on it?
Yes!
By how much does those wheel spacers bring out the off set of each tire??? I would like to put some new 20"rims and tires on my 2012 TOYOTA 4RUNNER, with the tire being 275/60R20 and the rim having a +18 off set!!! Would I need some spacers put on to avoid any kind of rubbing at full turns or at the upper part of the fenders above the tires??? Thank you!!!! Your help and advice would be much appreciated!!! Great video as always!!! 👍👍👍
I think your going to rub with or without the spacers, and even then the spacers might make you rub more. What size tires are you on now?
SnailTrail4x4 It still has the factory 245/60R20s on it!!! I have been shopping on line for rims and tires!!! And most web sites have said I can go with 275/60R20s but I would need to put a lift kit on it!!! But the question is how much of a lift would I need to put on it to avoid any rubbing at full turns or driving into any dipps???
@@josea.garcia3994 On a 5TH GEN LIMITED, go with 275/55/20 tires on a 20inch +18 Offset wheel. Essentially is a 32inch tire. Rubs a little on the plastics. With the 1.25 inch wheel spacers on these specs, I'd not do it since it rubs worst. However if you have a 1.5inch leveling kit or more lift, and run with 1.25inch spacer kit you will rubbing a little as well.
@@connectart1 So what your saying is as long as I go with a 275/55R20 I shouldn't need or use a spacer is that correct??? If I was to go with a 275/60R20 tire it would most definitely rub according to all the wheel and tire places that I have spoken to!!! They have advised to go with the tire size you just mentioned, but the problem is that I want my wheels and tires to be flushed even with the fenders not sticking out past the fenders or to far inside of the fenders!!! What kind offset should I go with to accomplish that look that I'm trying to get on my 4RUNNER???
@@josea.garcia3994 if you want no wheel spacers, you can go with a 0 to -18 off set wheel. With this type of wheel you will have a big step lip on the wheel. If you run a 275/60/20 essentially is a 33inch tire, this will rub big time. If you want 33inch plus tire you need a 2.5+ inch lift.
Angle from the side of vehicle? Does it extend past the mudflaps?
Note sure, why?
@@SnailTrail4x4 It's illegal here if your wheelbase extends past the mudflaps (throws up rocks behind you). I just went and checked mine, it should be okay there's enough clearance when extending them.
It would be a hell of a lot faster with a nice cordless impact wrench 🔧 those brakes are so nice 👍
I have a Makita impact driver but I almost never use it.
I do mine by hand. I know it’s slow but does not overtorque or strip lug nuts.
the amazon link page is not found
Didn’t have to cut the OE studs?
Nope, didn't have to, and they didn't stick out to far
Curious what’s torque spec to wheel to spacer
They are typically the same as your wheels, but each manufactured may be different
Expect to rub on liners with 33.5" - 34s
If he has a 4inch to 6 inch lift. Should be fine.
Huey Lu
I have a 3@ lift on my 4Gen with K02. 265x17 it was rubbing a lot more with the spacers on, That would be hard to drive without cutting the liner. I took them off and put them on the back wheels.
Awesome video! What break rotors are those?
They are the Power Stop Extremes
+SnailTrail4x4 thank you!
Did the front rub against the fender when turning max left or right?
No, not because of brakes
Are these safe?
This is one of the longest discussion on the internet. I feel they are safe but you have to continuously check on them, and make sure they are torqued!
Is there a set of wheels you could get the same stance without the spacers?
Yes, no, maybe? I think it depends on style brand and what you're looking for. Most companies don't do a massive offset or backspacing
What are the possible dangers or side effects of using wheel spacers. I've heard the term "hub centric" you have any thoughts on That? I've heard both good and bad about spacers so I'm really unsure on these for my rig but I'd love to know more.
I'm thinking about writing a blog post on this, because there's a lot to cover. A quick summary might be... Worst case scenario your wheel falls off, slightly better would be with the extra leverage by space in your tire out it places more strain on your wheel bearing. Benefits are widening your track width, better for off-camber obstacles and more stability on and off-road. I do find it fascinating how much controversy is around wheel spacers.
What was the offset for the wheels?
Would these spacers void factory warranty?
I'm pretty sure modify your vehicle in any way voids the factory warranty
Since this not an emissions add on or permeant add on there's No way that it should void warranty. Now if you have a dealership warranty though and get into an accident, and its been deemed to have not been torqued properly so they fall off, the dealership is not going to cover it obviously.
But thats why we have INSURANCE!
USE LOCK TIGHT AND TORQUE TO SPECS OF 85 ft. lbs. tq.
To be safe I would go 2ft lbs over by setting it to 87 ft lbs because some torque wrenches are off a few lb ft. Of torque. 👉🏾
Hi what is the torque specs?
75-85 depending on your vehicle. I typically add a locktight and tighten to your standard wheel lug torque
Did you lift your car in Order to get 34 inch tires?
Yes, 3 in
What kind of floor jack are you using?
Pro-Eagle 3 ton. It's a bad ass jack and works fantastic. I wouldn't buy it as an individual working in their garage. It's really hard to turn and move around on concrete with these big rubber tires
im running stock on my gen 5 , any modifications needed or just "plug and play"
If your 4Runner is bone stock then there wouldn't be any modifications to fit spacers. Unless you're changing your tires.
@@@SnailTrail4x4 Just did install, only torque wrench. Drivers side front while reversing and wheel at full lock, it grabs and pulls the front bumper ever so slightly ...bone stock..
Did you do a body mount chop?
Yes, for the most part anything 33" or larger you have to body mount chop
@@SnailTrail4x4 , do you need the body mount chop AND the spacers for 33s? or are the spacers just for stance.
@@nx1z that's really hard for me to diagnose without knowing the specific tires, wheels, offsets or backspacing. I would just do one or the other and see if you need to do a combo or both
SnailTrail4x4, Do you have a BMC vid?
@@nx1z not yet
Hi snailtrail. What is the thickness of that spacer? Is it 1.25 or 1.50? Thanks
1.25" SPIDERTRAX WHEEL SPACERS: amzn.to/2GcdqH8
SnailTrail4x4
Hello. I installed another brand but sent it back to seller as I noticed that the nuts on the front hub are catching just 50% thread on the studs. Did you notice iit on this brand? Or they all seat well all the way on the studs? Thank you
@@emercall7418 -- they are all seated well on the spacer
SnailTrail4x4
Hi SnailTrail. Hope you all good there. Just wanted to ask about this spacer again. Si I have it installed 1 week ago and followed all the instructions. However, I have a slight vibrations reaching 60mph. I have a stock wheels. Just want to know your thoughts. No vibrations prior installing the spidertrax. TIA.
They way you put on your tires is the absolutely most dangerous way to do it. Never never put your legs under the tire to lift. Just squat down facing your tire and use either your elbows on your thighs to lift tire on or use a pry Bar under your tire to lift onto studs.
Hello snail 🐌 trail4x4
I have a question I had spacer before on my 2011 tacoma 4x4 but only up front
And my question is can I install some on the rears even though I have drum break system?
Yes you can. Just be careful and make sure you are checking the torque on all the bolts regularly
SnailTrail4x4 cool thanks man dope videos by the way 🤘🏼
@@antoniobalderas4859 -- Thanks, and thanks for taking the time out of your day to comment
how much lift is on that 4 runner?
Hey good video did u have to cut the studs with the 1.25 spacer thanks
Nope, it fit great with plenty of the ads for the spacer bolt also. Great question, and thanks for commenting.
Awesome was there any rubbing issues on fenders or body mount I’m wanting to do body mount chop soon but wanting that wider stance im running trd rims with 285/70r17
Yes, we did a body mount chop already and didn't have any issues there, but the front fender was an issue and we needed to trim that just a little more than before.
Where did you buy the spacers from?
Link in the description
Does your rear tires poke more then front?
yes dose
Any idea where I can get replacement wheel hub caps?
Wrecking Yard, Toyota, Craigslist?
Thanks for the video. any idea if a 1.25" spacer would work on a stock ride and wheel with a 275/70/17 tire?
Why wouldn't it?
@@SnailTrail4x4 Hey, you never know what the extra extension in a turn will do
Yes i what i have G2 spacers from 4wheel parts 1”.25 work perfect
Do you have ‘SnailTrail4x4 decals?

what happened to Samantha?
Dang. No before and after shots. Bummer.
This is something I'm needing to do in every video!
I didn’t add Loctite 😳
Just make sure you check them
SnailTrail4x4 will do..... I have Bora spacers though. 😐
@@Ali-Muscle -- never heard of that brand, if they are not hub centric then I'd replace them
SnailTrail4x4 they’re hun centric
SnailTrail4x4 wow! I’m surprised. They’re supposed to be one of the best spacers out.
I purchased these for my 5th gen 4runner but it seems like the rear tires stick out a little further than the front. Used torque wrench as specified and double checked each lug. It drives fine...a little rubbing up front when filled locked.
Something I noticed when I looked at the boxes. One says...6 on 5” but the other says 6 on 5-1/2” and both are 1-1/4 thickness. These are my first spacers. What does the 5” vs 5-1/2” mean? Did amazon screw up shipping these?
I'd be shocked if you could fit the 6 by 5 onto your 6 by 5 and 1/2 set up. That might be why you're having some issues. You shouldn't have a gap between the mounting service in the spacer at all.
I think it was my eyes playing tricks on me. I remounted just to be sure and everything is fine...no gap at all. Only thing I didn’t think about was the tire rubbing when the wheel is fully torqued. Plan on doing a little fender mod this weekend. Thanks for the response.
What size are the spacers?
1.25 spacers
I wouldn't slide my legs underneath a vehicle even if they paid me...😂😂😬
I lay under them, haha. As long as you check the safety boxes it totally doable
Stop it! Stop it with the red lock tight, like you dpnt have rotors behind them...
Nuts NOT bolts 👍🏽
Haha, I don't know why I mess this up all the time. Its silly of me
SnailTrail4x4 Lol no worries. Spidertrax is the way to go! I have them on 3rd gen Tacoma 🤙🏽
very stupid and danger , never do it ,
Never had any issues with wheel spacers as long as you continue to check the torque. I've ran wheel spacers on many different vehicles and know many people that do the same. Completely appreciate your concern and thank you for taking the time to comment
Side note: if the opportunity presents itself to get a wheel with the correct backspacing/offset I would choose that route over wheel spacers every time.
So im the second stupid o another one to do this spacers also ask every guy from JEEP any kind they have to used WHEEL SPACERS i have to used on my 11 JK RUBICON and i crawl mud anything never problem whit the G2 and beadlock kmc machete wheels so
